Schiano “F.A.M.I.L.Y.” An Adjustment For Revis

July 26th, 2013

Greg Schiano wears a bracelet with the word “F.A.M.I.L.Y.” on it. Bucs players have them, too.

It’s the Barney-The-Dinosaur-style theme of the Bucs. Hell, it’s even the cheer Schiano leads in the locker room.

This family concept is very new to Darrelle Revis, who took to Instagram this week to set a fan straight on the meaning of family. It was a real New York moment for Revis.

Joe gets that Revis might need to get acclimated a bit to the New Schiano Order and the college-like team spirit that is expected. Yesterday on NFL Network, Revis said in a positive manner that the family atmosphere with the Bucs is the greatest difference between the Bucs and his last employer, the New York Jets.

Revis is a leader, and Joe’s confident that even if Revis doesn’t believe in the semantics of “F.A.M.I.L.Y.”, he does know how to be a great teammate and command respect — and roll with the “F.A.M.I.L.Y.” vibe.

To quote Bill Bellicheat: “Just do your job” he does that and everyone will be happy!

  2. paul Says:

spineless, pressured comment. thought he was more of a man than that.

  3. JT Says:

What does “F.A.M.I.L.Y.” actually stand for?

  4. Buc1987 Says:

Man Joe, I was trying to stay away from the comment section until Sept 7th. Your barrage of coverage and articles has made it impossible. Thanks for doing such a great job for all of us and keeping us up to date minute by minute.
@ paul the title line of the article has the word “adjustment” in it. Which I’m sure it is going to be an adjustment for Revis coming from N.Y. and Rex Ryan. Why so sensitive?

  5. Justin Says:

This is garbage. Who cares what Revis and rnobs say to each other on instagram? Send this over to ESPN or TMZ. Let them break it down.

Fans are interested in what players have to say, positive or negative or neither. –Joe

When asked the difference between the Bucs & Jets….Revis responded something like “here its more like a family”….and he was being very positive about it. Give him a chance to be a part of the family.
He’s being called “Grandpa” by Ahmad Black….so he has his place already according to Ahmad.

  7. Joe Says:

F.A.M.I.L.Y. = Forget About Me, I Love You

    Buc1987:

    Thanks for the kind words.

But really, how many football players buy into this really weird concept? Im guessing not many. Revis doesnt need the fuzzier aspects of this organization. Hes getting paid and loves the game, so hes going to work.

  10. dan Says:

    Maybe he doesnt like hugs…

  11. Chad Says:

It isn’t his family. Nothing to see here.

  12. Architek Says:

    Just win baby!

  13. Biff Barker Says:

Revis had the reputation for being problematic in the locker room. If he is relaxed and feels wanted here, it’s should carry over on to the field.

  14. Buc Fan #238 Says:

If you don’t understand the family concept (most of you coming from broken ones) the whole point is to get the team to work as a unit. Not a bunch of self-centered freelancers like what the Bucs were during the Raheem Morris era.

I guess you guys have never been on a real TEAM before.

  15. robert Says:

sounds like a bidness man to me.

I like it! you can bet he knows what family means in the team respect and carries it with him……..but he aint stupid neither.

just a guy being honest is all I see.

  16. MadMax Says:

Aw, another butt hurt Jet fan who cant let it go…..he didnt say “this is my family dummy, he said the team is “like family”…..lol, no wonder he doesnt miss all the drama that went along with playing for that organization.

  17. Bucslegends Says:

Robert, you crack me up !!!!!!! It doesn’t matter what the subject you ONLY see what YOU want to see !!!!!!!!… CRACK ME UP !!!!!!!

  18. PRBucFan Says:

Ok Joe not gonna lie, that bothered me a little, hopefully he will have a different answer to that kind of question after some time here..

  19. teacherman777 Says:

he called the guy a #cornball?

seems like a prick comment to me. the fan was just trying to be nice.

Now, I see the ego of Darrelle Revis in this tweet.

I am a little disappointed in Revis after reading that.
