“He Doesn’t Have A Ceiling”

October 13th, 2026

It looks like the Bucs found another quality starting cornerback outside the first round of the NFL Draft.

Jacob Parrish seems to be following in the footsteps of Super Bowl starters Jamel Dean (Round 3, 2019) and Carlton Davis (Round 2, 2018). Davis passed the torch to Zyon McCollum (Round 5, 2022), and Parrish (Round 3, 2025) has done a strong job replacing Dean this year.

Yeah, Joe still has issues with McCollum, but he certainly was a quality draft pick.

Bucs head coach defensive coordinator Todd Bowles talked to Jeff Dubrof of WFLA-TV this week nd said Parrish has superstar potential.

“He doesn’t have a ceiling. You know, he’ll be as great as he wants to be,” Bowles said of Parrish. “He’s playing at a very high level right now. His concentration is there. His understanding of the game is there. And he plays fast.”

Parrish probably has been the Bucs’ best defensive player over the past two games. It’s amazing what can happen when defensive backs are given the green light to play tight coverage and don’t let their minds wander.

Licht was 50/50 that draft. Parrish looks like he’s going to be a good corner. Morrison bust. Damaged goods when he was drafted, Bowles doing his friend a solid. Licht went along with it like a dolt. Another wasted second round pick.

Oh, and smart closing comments on your other article Joe. No need opening that can of worms.

Note that.we exchanged a next year 4th round pick for Zion……a solid pick along with Parrish.
Morrison looks good also, when healthy…

  8. SkunkApe Says:

If McCollum continues on his current path and Morrison ever stays healthy for a stretch, I’d say we’re pretty solid at corner. Even Garnes. So, there’s something for the next HC and DC (hopefully separate roles) to work with.
