Same as he always was.
Hey, when a guy suddenly has (potentially) $165 million dropped in his lap, it is a life-changer and perhaps an attitude-changer.
So what was Mayfield like when he took the practice field yesterday for the Bucs, just hours after it was learned Mayfield signed an extension that could keep him with the team through the 2029 season?
Same as he ever was, KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles said.
“Our work was normal,” Bowles said. “You know, [Mayfield] went about business the right way, the normal way, and we haven’t changed anything from today to yesterday when he got paid, and he’s not going to change anything.
“So, I’m proud of him for being a professional.”
Joe doesn’t believe Mayfield is wired in a way that would let his contract cloud his determination to win.
Most guys willing to lay their guts on the field in order to get a first down, or better, aren’t often the kinds of players to get sidetracked by money.
Money won’t dim the flame of winning that burns inside Mayfield.

I have a good feeling about sunday – the so called “ass vibes” that we supposedly had are gone – we are pretty healthy all things considered and i feel like this team can beat the bengals the same way we beat the texans on the road last year – i think we see a different style bucs team this year – GO BUCS!

Buddha, it depends on your expenses. As your income grows your lifestyle usually grows as well. You would think at 5% $2.5M would be enough to live on. But you are in a bigger house or houses, fancier cars, exotic trips, cooks, maintenance people, massage people, financial advisors, nannies, etc. New toys like larger boats, planes. It can add up quick.

Im just really glad this team doesn’t have to enter the market for a QB anytime soon…that’s a crapshoot at best and we haven’t had any real luck drafting one. Baker’s stats speak for themselves. He’s a great QB and we will do really well with him if we protect him. If you watched the game last night you saw what sub-par O-line play looked like (or great D-line I suppose) and how it affects even some of the best QB’s in the league.

If the Bucs start off this season successfully, and Mayfield is producing good or great numbers, will the Media Attention and Commercial Opportunities distract Mayfield from focusing on the tasks at hand as the season progresses….that’s the concern. Most fans remember Mayfield’s Browns days as a never ending string of Insurance TV Commercials.

The relationship of Baker, Glazers, Jason Licht front office and the coaches is evident by Baker’s signing a 3 year $165 million contract.
Personally, I believe it was never in jeopardy. It was the media creating drama to financially benefit with their agenda.
Jason Licht made it clear that Baker was their franchise quarterback and Baker wanted to complete his career as a Bucc.

It doesn’t matter what Baker Mayfield achieves or doesn’t achieve, he will always be disrespected by a good percentage of people. For an NFL quarterback, he doesn’t LOOK the part, he’s smallish and is only minimally athletic. He definitely has an exceptional arm, but that is the only thing exceptional he has going for him from the physical perspective. If he has a a great year statistically, some will say it is an outlier. If he wins a playoff game, they say it was against a bad team. If he wins two out of three division titles and makes the playoffs in two out of three seasons, it’s only because he plays in the NFC South, aka the landfill. Now that he finally got his bag, those same people say he is way overpaid or that the Bucs must be stupid or were afraid that they may go through another period of quarterback purgatory, so they settled for the little bird in hand. If he somehow makes a Super Bowl and wins one, they’ll say that anyone could have done it with that team around him. Finally, his professional career, sadly, has been poisoned from the beginning, when he was drafted by that mistake of a team known as the browns, who then traded him to another like wise dysfunctional team at the time, in Carolina. At least he got his money, hopefully he’ll do great things with that money!

The same thing was said when Winfield got paid, and he crapped the bed the following season. How about McCollum? Same damn thing.
The only recent player we can say gave 100% from day one after getting the Brinks truck backed up to his house is Wirfs.
