Bucs-Jets, Open Thread

August 14th, 2026

Undrafted rookie QB Jalon Daniels will make his Buccaneers debut tonight.

Bucccaneers football is back! It’s a real game against a real team. But there won’t be a lot of real players for the men in pewter and red. Jets starters will get work but the Bucs’ biggest names won’t be seen.

Comment all game long below.

Joe’s glad Bucs fans will get a peek — maybe a long one — at undrafted rookie QB Jalon Daniels. He’s entertaining. He may not be any good, but he’ll keep things very interesting.

I didn’t realize Ballsack was still even on our roster

Hey, what do you know, SUCKE makes an appearance on the first drive of the preseason!

  20. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    LFG!!!

  21. Oxycondomns Says:

    tes running free

  22. Rod Munch Says:

That is the Sucke we all remember from 2024, who was so bad, he forced Coen to change the offense to force Baker to get rid of the ball faster since he couldn’t hold a block. So in that regard, he should be thanked.

  23. Bee Says:

Held the ball too long on 3rd. Good to see the return team get the ball close to the 40

  24. buc4evr Says:

Yawn…. go to see that special teams is starting off like they left off last year. Cant tackle. Secondary. on third down… ugh.

  25. Bucs 95 Says:

Surprised they have Wilson playing tonight. Nice catch

Surprised they have Wilson playing tonight. Nice catch

    ———-

Not every team is coached by a complete coward who is afraid to play guys – in particular when the stats show NOT playing guys leads to more injuries.

And Wilson is a great WR, if he played with a real QB, he’d be considered one of the very best WR’s in the NFL.

  31. Bee Says:

Depth is looking very sketch. No one could get that ball out on 3rd down?

  32. Inwoodjeremy Says:

Looks like the same bad pass cover defense to me. If the starters were there I don’t know if it’s much different

  33. unbelievable Says:

@Rod – don’t worry, I know how much of a stubborn pansy our coach is

  34. Mhystc Says:

Classic Bowles defense, can’t finish sacks.. or tackle in open space.

  35. Grover Says:

    Trotter is a joke

  36. unbelievable Says:

Trotter looks like he’s getting pushed around on every play

  37. rrsrq Says:

    Bucs get a sack

  38. buc4evr Says:

    finally.

  39. Rod Munch Says:

Garnes scouting report is that he’s actually a pretty good coverage corner, in particular by UDFA standards, but is a very bad tackler. He missed two, but made one in the backfield.

  40. Jmarkbuc Says:

Walker looks pretty meh.. maybe he’s bored.

  41. Bee Says:

How do yall like the DL without Vita?

    ———

This is the backup line vs starters, so it doesn’t tell us much.

  44. buc4evr Says:

That’s what I was thinking also inwoodjeremy. Starters would not be much better with Bowles soft zone. Guess nothing will change on defense.

  45. Usfbucs Says:

@unbelievable I’m not an expert but it appears he is trying to maintain his gaps

  46. Bee Says:

Kinda wild football is back. This year has flown by

    Walker being doubled and held

    ———–

I only watched him specifically on a couple of plays, but on one he was being double teamed, but had a great set of moves. Wouldn’t be shocked if he gets a sack in the first half, assuming Bowles doesn’t pull him early.

  48. Bee Says:

    Rod

    Ahh…makes sense

  49. Gipper Says:

Half Q1 is over and Bucs offense hasn’t seen the ball. Looks like a classic Todd B. defense. Only the names change.

  50. Surfing the Waivers Says:

Anyone look good so far? I know it’s only been one possession for each team but yeesh. All the Bucs seem a step to several steps sloooowwww. Everyone get a Benadryl shot before the game?

  51. buc4evr Says:

Special teams is still riding the short bus.

  52. Bee Says:

How does the preseason work now? Bucs starters play a series in game 2 and all backups again in game 3?

lol come on man none of the starters are playing tonight

  55. Inwoodjeremy Says:

I’m looking forward to seeing Daniels throw the ball.

  56. Bee Says:

    Bowles hates special teams….

  57. Call The Salt Truck Says:

Hurst with nice hands to snatch that off the grass.

  58. Tbbucs3 Says:

Can Hurst get a quarterback that can throw in the game?

  59. Bee Says:

    Inwoodjeremy

    Me too

    Unbelievable

Relax man…I know, I know lol

  60. Bucs 95 Says:

Ballzzack is not an NFL qb not even a back up just bring daniels in plzz

  61. Inwoodjeremy Says:

Who threw the challenge flag was it Todd?

  62. Rod Munch Says:

Ballsack sucks as a QB, get this bum off the field already, he’s not going to make the team. Let’s see Daniels.

  63. Surfing the Waivers Says:

Hurst looks no so great catching the ball. What is happening out there. Nerves?

Not the best throws either but still…

  64. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Idk why Bazelak is even on the roster. Said it back in March when we brought him back. Dude should be selling medical equipment or real estate

  65. Bee Says:

    All these low throws….

  66. JSmalls Says:

What a noodle arm what’s he doing in the league

  67. rrsrq Says:

Gotta teach Hurst how to act, act like he caught the ball

  68. BucsFan81 Says:

Hurst looks pretty good with a third string QB throwing to him.

  69. Grover Says:

    Hurst got hands.

  70. Bee Says:

I’ll be honest, I forgot Balls was on the team. But Bowles like him so here we are. My god he’s inaccurate….

  71. Hunter Says:

Why even waste time with Bazelak?!

  72. Call The Salt Truck Says:

    @Surfing the Waves

Disagree, he scooped the first throw, and got hands on the second one, just couldn’t pull it back fast enough. Hursts hands have been pretty good, the throws are awful.

  73. Surfing the Waivers Says:

    Bazelak is Turrible.

How does the preseason work now? Bucs starters play a series in game 2 and all backups again in game 3?

    —————–

Bowles is such a cupcake coward, if we see half the starters play one series in game 2, it will be a miracle.

Again, the stats show NOT playing in preseason leads to MORE injuries early in the season. If Andy Reid if playing Mahomes, there’s no reason not to have our guys playing at least some snaps.

  76. Inwoodjeremy Says:

Phillip Rivers would have been more fun to watch than Ballsack

  77. Grover Says:

    Another nice 3 and out.

  78. Bee Says:

    Where’s Daniels?

  79. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    @Bee

We sat almost all of our starters last preseason. We were missing Wirfs, like we are now, but it’d be good to see some of those guys slotted to start to see some action. Mauch needs some reps and some of our young guys on defense could use a little taste of live action

  80. BucU Says:

    2 special teams blunders already.

Ballsack actually has a pretty strong arm, he’s just insanely inaccurate – which gets even more inaccurate when he tries to throw with touch.

  84. Stallworth Says:

Special teams are still special this year.

  85. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Again, the stats show NOT playing in preseason leads to MORE injuries early in the season.“

  86. Surfing the Waivers Says:

  93. Bucs 95 Says:

Yeah ballzzack is getting cut monday lol

  94. Inwoodjeremy Says:

Raggedy punt, and terrible coverage. If you’re going to fight in camp, or at least be apart of the shenanigans-at least play well.

  97. Bee Says:

    I agree Rod

I would love to see Hurst with the ones. Split out wide with Chris in slot. Move EE and Jmac around. The Bucs need height on the outside

  98. Jmarkbuc Says:

Second stringers or not.. this team is always ill prepared and poorly coached. Looking forward to big changes in 2027

But it’s Wrong-Way Rob, he of the winning four games prediction in 2023. What else would one expect?

    ————–

There’s been a couple of studies on it, soft tissue issues are substantially higher with players who do not play in the preseason. Easiest way to see that is the 2020 season, which had no preseason, and then had a record number of injuries in the first 8-weeks of the season.

Baker isn’t playing next week. Bowles said that same crap last week that Baker would play in week 2 of the preseason, then switched to Teddy ‘Hospital Ball’ Bridgewater right before the game – and good old Teddy got McMillan put on IR for 13 games. Look for Bowles to once again do the same thing next week, say on Friday or Saturday that Baker had a good practice and doesn’t need to play.

  165. Oldbucsfan Says:

Watch’em run number 16 all the way deep into the 4th, then put Daniels in there to sit on the ball with 2 minutes left. Who in the hell are all of these players? Why are they playing all practice squad guys? Hurst looking good though!

  166. Caradoc Says:

Why TF are we doing this? What do we think we learn playing 3rd string vs starters? Who are we developing? It’s just wasting opportunity. This is what I hate about Bowles, he is such a puzzy always making ever decision to not lose, rather than to win and improve.

And LMFAO at the drama queens posting that we suck without understanding we are playing backups vs starters.

Hurst and Tucker are looking solid. Backup oline is looking good against a backup defensive line now.

  168. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

  185. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

  187. Bucco Says:

Why the FG? It’s preseason, we have a proven K. Go for it!

  188. BigZ Says:

Seen enough of Connor. Let’s see what Daniels can do with the twos.

  189. Rod Munch Says:

I never understand in preseason why you’d kick a FG here. This is an automatic play – where as you could use a 4th and goal as a chance to practice in a real game situation that isn’t automatic. Makes no sense. Personally I don’t think I’d ever punt or kick FGs in the preseason – or very rarely in any case. You’re not trying to win, you’re just testing guys in various situations to see how they respond.

  190. Bee Says:

Another bad throw but he almost got his lunch snatched

  191. Mike Says:

I don’t think anyone is calling off the season but a turd is a turd and that’s what we looked like as a unit – O D and STs with the guys that are in there- everyone realizes they are NOT starters

Bazelack is terrible, throwing behind receivers. Hurst clearly won off the line and the FedEx guy threw at his back shoulder. SMDH

  195. catcard202 Says:

Would have liked to see Bowles just go for it there….It’s the preseason and get the value of getting ST reps, but it’s the preseason and it’s also of value to see who has the fortitude on 4th down – when you need 6.

  196. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Why the FG? It’s preseason, we have a proven K. Go for it!“

Simulation of game scenarios. That’d get you on the OG ESPN “Not so Top 10” for sure back in the day.

  197. Bucs 95 Says:

So why isn’t bain playing 🤨

  198. Rod Munch Says:

Bad passes. Hurst should have 3 more receptions and a touchdown

    ————

I have no idea how Ballsack ever got an NFL invite, his college tape is so bad, he was so incredibly inaccurate you know he’ll never be an NFL QB, and wasn’t even that good in college. He does have a big arm, but had a ton of college playing time, so it wasn’t like he was a developmental prospect. Hopefully Daniels has a good 2nd half and we never see Ballsack again.

  199. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Probably kicking the chip shot to throw his new ST coach a bone.

  200. Bee Says:

    WBL

    Very much justified.

  201. Jorge Says:

Come on you have to show something in pre season.
You just can’t suck. Why are the Jets ready?

  202. Oxycondomns Says:

was hoping to see a jump ball to hurst

  203. ATLBuc Says:

    I’m ready to see Daniels!

  204. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    “So why isn’t bain playing”

His riding the plane back to Tampa in a box of packing peanuts and a snorkel so he can breath. No reason to risk his health, besides Braswell needs to earn his keep, let him play

  205. KABucs Says:

    Nice!!

  206. Mike Says:

    LFG!!!! A sixer

  207. KABucs Says:

    Garnes!!!

  208. BigZ Says:

He hype on Garnes might be real

  209. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Gotta be honest, I have Christmas ornaments the same color as the jets helmets.

  210. unbelievable Says:

    Garnes making some plays!

  211. Rod Munch Says:

I think Garnes is making the team.

Also Walker got the pressure to make that throw.

  212. rrsrq Says:

    Garnes showing up as advertised

  213. ATLBuc Says:

That’s what I’m talking about. Pressure.

  214. catcard202 Says:

    Yeah, Garnes making the 53.

  215. Bee Says:

I know its practice but it would be nice to see the depth dominate at least once

  216. LongSeason Says:

    Nice play.

  217. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Garnes wants that MF’N roster spot bad, that might be CB4 like Chris Rock

  218. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Welcome to the team young man!

  219. BigZ Says:

Nice sell job by Walker on the block, no block.

  220. Stpetematt Says:

    Nice job Walker and Garnes!!!

  221. ATLBuc Says:

Walker got a free hit on the QB!!

  222. Bee Says:

    Nice!!!!

  223. David Says:

Ayden Garnes wants himself a roster spot

  224. Animal Says:

    That was a great int

  225. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

I need to see that again, I want to see if that was a read or react.

    Aydenstian Garnizien

  226. Couch Fan Says:

Garnes wants to make this team.

  227. AquaBum Says:

Hope Garnes balls out this preseason and earns a roster spot. Good to have hungry players on the team

  228. Jorge Says:

Barnes is a starter. Finally a gem by ACCIDENT.
Making up for Bad and always hurt picks

  229. Rod Munch Says:

From the times I’ve watched Walker, he’s looked pretty great – but I’ve only paid attention to him on a few plays, and the jackballs at WFLA running the broadcast are terrible at their job so they’re not showing many replays so it’s hard to really see much live. But so far, Walker is living up the camp hype, and he did some of that on the first couple of drives vs the Jets starters, so it’s not just the backups he’s looked good against.

  230. Call The Salt Truck Says:

Love the pick 6. Gonna keep track of Garnes.

  231. Jorge Says:

    Garnes, sorry

  232. Bucs 95 Says:

That jets stadium so empty LOLL

  233. Bucswin Says:

Hmmmmm. Qb pressure caused a pick 6. Better than a sack? Go Bucs

  234. Rod Munch Says:

Garnes ran a 4.39 at his proday, is just a tad under 6′, is a bit light at 185lb, but that’s no too light. He’s a good man cover, but his biggest negative is tackling. For an UDFA, he’s got very solid NFL-caliber skills, has been a great find.

  235. Bee Says:

    Let’s get a 3 amd out

  236. Animal Says:

i Think Bailey Zappe is not going to make the Jets team

  237. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    Look at Elijah!! LFG!

  238. unbelievable Says:

Another INT after getting pressure on the QB, nice!

  239. ATLBuc Says:

Go nephew!!! Shad finally got one.

  240. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    LFG!!!!!!

  241. Call The Salt Truck Says:

Their second team vs ours looks a LOT different, lol.

  242. MadMax Says:

    GJ Wisdom!

  243. Rod Munch Says:

The Bucs backups look much better vs the Jets backups – compared to playing against their starters.

  244. Buddha Says:

Obvioud that this is a different defense. Even backups are playing with passion.

  245. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Young guys waking up, way to be on the spot

  246. Bee Says:

OK!!!! Great hands! We might have some CB depth

  247. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

We’re still holding onto Haggard, that’s crazy

  248. Bee Says:

Forgive my obviousness but the difference between starters and 2nd team is glaring

  249. ATLBuc Says:

    Wisdom is a safety

  250. Stpetematt Says:

Another turnover but didn’t take advantage.

  251. ATLBuc Says:

What? Even if he did catch it, wayy short.

  252. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

You never want to see 2nd team guys in the field anyhow @Bee

What it’s good for though, is seeing what we got.

You’re only as good as your depth or something like that

  253. Stpetematt Says:

Worse yet we still have Dan Feeney.

  254. Rod Munch Says:

Punting from the opponents side of the field- the Todd Bowles special!

  255. Bee Says:

    No intermediate or downfield throws…

  256. KABucs Says:

If I see that advent health commercial one more time…

  257. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Yup, Turnovers mean squat if you can’t cash them in and that’s how you get a situation like right now where Garnes has generated more points than our offense

  258. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Not mad at you Mr. Bazelak, but you just…….yeah……

Hope you got a good degree

  259. Justin Says:

Well, now I understand why Bowles punted instead of going for the 60 yard FG. We clearly need practice in how to cover short yardage punts.

  260. Bee Says:

    WBL

    Good point.

    Rod

    Good point

    ———–

There were a lot of 3rd teamers out there to start the game – like Ballsack, Tucker, and Hurst is the #4 WR, and he was the top WR on the field (I like Hurst a lot, but he’s still behind Tez at the moment).

  262. ATLBuc Says:

Roberts have always played well when he get PT

  263. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Drunk, go on and say it

Bazelaks’ game is day old hot dog water

  264. Jorge Says:

Looks like Bowles is ordering his sandwiches w everything on them?
What, like 30 pounds heavier? Not a good look

  265. Mike Says:

Can we take Bazelak out now please – next QB

  266. Bee Says:

    Roberts unblocked…nice work

  267. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    @Rod

Meant to say 11-2nd team guys on the field, this is televised practice that generates millions of dollars and pays those running the show handsomely somewhere along the line.

They give it to us, because they know we’re football addicts

  268. Rod Munch Says:

Wait, Hurst is actually the #5 WR at the moment, behind Godwin, e2, McMillan and Tez…

  269. firethecannons Says:

bazelak is awful damn what was that???

  270. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

    WBL,

I mean, I’m sure he’s a great guy and all.

  271. ATLBuc Says:

Look at the positive side. Daniels will probably move to #2 QB slot.

  272. Bee Says:

    Jorge

I was thinking that earlier. I don’t remember him being that big

  273. Stpetematt Says:

If Garnes could dramatically refine his tackling technique, he’d be a pro bowl caliber defensive back from what I’ve been seeing. Please work with him on his tackling because he could be a big difference maker on this team!

  274. Mike Says:

That whole possession was a dumpster fire

  275. Bucs 95 Says:

    Bowles got man boobs 🫪

  276. unbelievable Says:

That series was ugly as hell

  277. Call The Salt Truck Says:

    Carnival-style offense is ineffective.

  278. Jorge Says:

Why , Why is Bazelak in this team??

  279. Mike Says:

    Bucs 95

If we were wearing orange he would be the great pumpkin Charlie Brown

  280. Bee Says:

Wtf were those last 3 plays?

  281. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Idk @Drunk, his game smells like lowtide

  282. Rod Munch Says:

Warren Brooks Lynch – I love preseason, but there’s no reason to go away from the old way it worked, where starters would play the 1st quarter of the 1st game, the first half of the 2nd game, and into the 3rd quarter of the 3rd game – with the 4th being the final chance for the camp guys on the bubble.

This garbage of coaches being scared to play anyone is some real limp wristed nonsense – and it’s pushed by coaches who are scared to ball called out by morons in the media who don’t understand how stats work, and have never bothered to look at the injury numbers of when guys play vs when they don’t play. A lot more players are getting injured now than in the past because they’re being asked to go from 0 to 100 with no warm-up period.

  283. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

I just think it’s hilarious how much we are all looking forward to seeing the 4th qb in a preseason game.

    But we are LOL

  284. Call The Salt Truck Says:

It could be worse guys. We could be getting utterly blown out by the Broncos, like the Falcons.

  285. unbelievable Says:

@Rod – that also has to do with how much less they practice in pads too

  286. ATLBuc Says:

Thankfully the starters will play next week.

  287. Rod Munch Says:

    Stpetematt Says:

If Garnes could dramatically refine his tackling technique, he’d be a pro bowl caliber defensive back from what I’ve been seeing.

    ———–

    LOL!

I like him from what I’ve seen and read about him… but it’s halfway through the 1st half of his first preseason game. Calm down, lots of guys look like future HOF’ers when they’re 23 mins their career game, which is in the preseason.

With that said, he’ll have to get better at tackling since Bowles cares more about stopping the run game than stopping the passing game – and would rather have a good tackling corner out there than having a good coverage corner on the field.

  288. Stpetematt Says:

Walker is FOR REAL. I had a feeling he might be after watching his highlights because he was so quick and powerful and completely dominated like Godzilla in Tokyo. Sure enough, lots of power and speed really helps an edge rusher excel. Even in the NFL. 🙂

  289. Dennis Says:

    Trotter a non factor.

  290. Rod Munch Says:

@Rod – that also has to do with how much less they practice in pads too

    ———

Agreed, but that isn’t on the coaches, that’s on the NFLPA, who get their full cut for injured players, plus get a cut of all those injury replacement players. They love when guys get hurt since it means more money for them.

  291. Bee Says:

    Rod

I agree. But I think its a damned you do, damned you dont situation. If a starter get seriously injured then Bowles is hated even more than he already is. Lol… I’m always scared money don’t make none but Bowles plays everything safe. Lovie 2.0

    Drunk

Thats because it’s exciting to see something new with this team.

  292. Jorge Says:

Even or 3rd team secondary sucks. Great coaching, sounds
    familiar?
    Unreal

  293. BigZ Says:

    Braswell is doing … Zero.

  294. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Coaches are just reacting to the rules the owners & NFLPA agreed on. Look at Burrow, he played last night(didn’t look dangerous at all) and his OL while finally having some stability didn’t look bulletproof.

I think if anything it shows how differently teams are proceeding one to the next and how they’re protecting their already dinged up/valuable players. KC doesn’t have to play their starting QB, but LB played all of their QBs even the 1st overall pick.

The BS for coaches is, one less week to evaluate and cut the roster down. So you cut a guy, someone gets hurt then you bump his replacement there’s no replacement for the replacement if you like the guy you cut and he get scooped up off the waiver wire. You can check, but I think when the 3 game change happened they also expanded the size of the practice squad and elevation rules

  295. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

Bazelak is horrible. He will not make the roster.
Brasswell is horrible. He will NOT make the roster.

  296. Mike Says:

Yeah ….lets take our final timeout to ice Zappe Bowles

  297. LongSeason Says:

Plays like that are as good as sacks.

  298. catcard202 Says:

Kamara read that as soon as the RB setup for the screen…Nice play 59!

  299. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

I’m waiting to see Mo Kamara, seeing him do some damage with what Walker is flashing along with Garnes will make this worth the watch.

  300. firethecannons Says:

oldschool is right wtf has Braswell done? Bazelak is not good enough to make this team

  301. Rod Munch Says:

    Huh? That FG was good?

  302. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

And where the hell is Nick Jackson!?

  303. ATLBuc Says:

Great! The Baezlick experience is over.

  304. Mike Says:

Was that really good? The FG?

  305. Rod Munch Says:

That FG did not look good unless the net is like 15 yards behind the uprights.

  306. Oldbucsfan Says:

Any word of what QB will start the 3rd?

  307. MF Bucs Says:

    how was that fg good?

  308. Call The Salt Truck Says:

Uh… that FG very clearly seemed to miss? I guess it made it over the upright?

  309. exBrowns02 Says:

    Jalon time!

  310. ATLBuc Says:

The refs are practicing screwing us so by the regular season they will have it down pat!

  311. Call The Salt Truck Says:

Lol, I’m glad everyone else had the same reaction.

  312. SavannahGABuc13 Says:

That was a miss!!!! Stupid refs.

  313. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Rewatched the Garnes pick, he ran throw the WR to jump that ball. Show something on special teams and his in here for sure, don’t let him hit waivers

  314. Stpetematt Says:

Even being a good coverage db is useless if you can’t tackle the guy that just beat you. Garnes has got to wrap these people up better. It would make a huge difference since he seems to excel in coverage. All reports out of camp have been he’s awesome in coverage but he’s still gotta tackle. Hopefully someone works with him on it.

  315. catcard202 Says:

Braswell is softer than JTS…Just no juice at all. I would not even consider a PS slot. He definitely on Turk watch.

  316. Bee Says:

That was a miss but they’ll do anything to avoid a tie in preseason

  317. Rod Munch Says:

    Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

And where the hell is Nick Jackson!?

    ———–

From what I could tell, he’s the guy that got beat on the Allen cutback – but a bit hard to tell from the limited TV view and replay.

But the people complaining about Braswell saw him have outside contain on that play and think he blew the play, but it was almost certainly Jackson who was supposed to be there.

  318. catcard202 Says:

Can we not put a camera on top of the goal post??

  319. Bee Says:

    WBL

They can’t let him go. Hopefully our 80 y/o ST coach can coach him up so he can stay

  320. ATLBuc Says:

It was Jackson, 53 because he was chasing the play from behind when the runner turned the corner.

  321. Stpetematt Says:

That field goal missed by several feet! It wasn’t even particularly close.

  322. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    @Rod

    That’s why I’m asking where he’s at

  323. Bee Says:

    Carcard

They can’t put a camera in the pylon for Bucs games so probably not…

  324. Bucs 95 Says:

That was not a field goal lmaoooo need too start having cameras on the goal post similar too the nhl

  325. Bee Says:

Geez street racers are real scumbags…

  326. catcard202 Says:

Garnes looks like CB4 so far to me, but worried about Bowles love of Hayes ST play…When that guy can’t cover a Walmart cart.

  327. ATLBuc Says:

Actually, Garnes looks like CB3. I can’t put Morrison ahead of him at this point.

  328. Hodad Says:

Walker has zero sacks, one pressure. Glad he’s gotten a sack in each practice. It hasn’t translated tonight. Not the terror I was expecting.

  329. Captain Butt Sweat Says:

  331. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

Firethecannons: Bazelak is sooo bad we had bring in Teddy B last year! Have high hopes Daniel’s can get that 3rd QB this year and 2nd Qb next year. Bazelak couldn’t even be a back up in the CFL. How many of those throws were below T Hursts belt???

  332. exBrowns02 Says:

    Nice play by Pyburn.

  333. Rod Munch Says:

I just put on the radio broadcast finally – they said the Bucs had 34 scratches for this game. Wow, typical ball less Bowles.

  334. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

  335. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

Pyburn>Brasswell. For the undereducated that means Pyburn is better! So sad we wasted a pick on Brasswell

  336. Rod Munch Says:

  342. FortMyersDave Says:

If Daniels balls out, the Bucs will probably have to carry 3 QBs on the active roster so that he does not get poached off of the practice squad. Last year that was not an issue with Baezlick who could not even challenge Teddy Hospital ball for the back-up. Heck Carolina would probably keep Trask as their #3 QB over this dude. Makes you wonder about some of Licht’s personnel decisions from last year at the QB, not to mention his inability to flip a day 3 draft pick for OL depth or a backup CB……

  343. Dennis Says:

  351. Mike Says:

He looks like a QB very poised

  352. Rod Munch Says:

The new radio guy sounds so generic… he’s not bad or anything, but just sounds like any one of 100 different generic announcers you hear when scrolling through NFL and college broadcasts. Still a billion times better than listening to Meyers babbling on TV.

  353. Bucs 95 Says:

    Daniels is the future

Wish we had seen Daniels to start the game, would have been interesting to see if he could have looked competent vs the Jets starters. To be sure, I doubt he would have, being a rookie if his first preseason game, but Ballsack clearly isn’t making the team, so it was just a waste to put him out there.

  358. Couch Fan Says:

  424. Rod Munch Says:

Daniels was considered, pre-draft, about a 6th round value, so he was on the map. From his highlights in college, he looked pretty good, clearly had an NFL arm and has good movement that should translate to the NFL. However, as others have pointed out, the reason he wasn’t drafted was because he was older, and pretty inconsistent. With that said, compared to the normal stiffs they generally bring in for that last spot, I said when they signed him he was already better than Ballsack, and we clearly see that tonight, even accounting for who is playing on defense.

But he’s got some skills, that’s for sure – but not being consistent will get coaches fired. Just look at Baker, who has a new OC every year because he either is hot and gets them promoted, or is terrible and gets them fired.

Culp should be nervous about his roster spot being on the field this late in a preaseasib game in his 3rd season.

    ———-

Culp was playing late in the 4th quarter of the 3rd preseason game last year. The coaches are not nearly as high on him as the fans seem to be. He was always a developmental lottery pick because of that 4.47 speed, but he’s never really developed. Still, with the modified practice squad rules, he might end up being kept around. Not sure why they never tried to have him drop a little weight and move to WR, which seems like a more natural position for him.

  430. chad Says:

bucsfan81, browning has played against nfl starters, i think bucs keep jalen. he is talented, but let’s not prop him up to much just yet with him playing 3rd stringers.

    *****************
From the daily updates I read here and saw mentioned elsewhere he had a major case of the drops in last year’s camp. I’m not sure if that’s spilled over into this season or not, but he does look more on the bubble with Sharp being drafted and the other TE’s being better blockers.

If he’s let go it would be worth it to him if another team tries him out at WR. He’s got a look and build that reminds me of Darren Waller, it’s too bad it hasn’t panned out with him.

    ———

Keep in mind, when Flacco came in, he said he was completely ignoring the OC since he didn’t know the playbook, and was just reading and reacting. Then, as he learned the playbook, and started listening to the OC, his production plummeted. So I’m not sure the OC wasn’t a huge issue. Browning, previous to last year, was considered a very solid QB, and his QBR in 2023 was 60.8 in 9 games, which isn’t a tiny sample size, and that QBR was higher than Baker’s in 2024. Last year, his QBR was terrible, at 35.2, but still that’s better than what Baker had in 12 games in 2022, the year before the Bucs signed him.

With all that said, while Browning is certainly better than Teddy, if the Bucs need him to start, they’re likely not winning much.

  440. catcard202 Says:

Munch, I thought the same thing about Culp….Have him drop 15lbs and move to WR as his blocking is sub-standard & he has not really worked to improve that liability after having ample time to develop that skill-set in the NFL / nor hit the weight room to add the 20lbs of muscle & want-to needed to play the position well in the NFL.

  441. Rod Munch Says:

  479. Rod Munch Says:

1993 preseason game vs the Broncos…

There was 39-year-old Steve DeBerg, coming off the bench early in the fourth quarter to save the day for the luckless Tampa Bay offense.

The Denver Broncos led by only a touchdown and the Bucs had the ball at midfield.

A brilliant plan was coming together. Throw in DeBerg’s experience. Throw in the first-team offensive line. Throw in the roar of the crowd.

    Ugh, throw in the towel.

That’s because DeBerg wound up and threw his first pass into the hands of third-string cornerback Muhammad Oliver, who returned the interception 61 yards for a touchdown to help the Broncos to a 23-7 preseason win over the Bucs on Saturday before 38,020 at Tampa Stadium.

It was a fitting climax for Tampa Bay, which watched its scatter-armed quarterbacks throw five interceptions _ including two returned for touchdowns.

DeBerg and second-year pro Mike Pawlawski were intercepted twice each and Mark Vlasic added another in a miserable debut for the Bucs’ quarterbacks.

    ————-

When you have a chance to go for 2, which makes the game a 2 score game, late in the 4th quarter, you should always do that – preseason, regular season or post season. Worst case you’re up by 7. Will the other coach have the guts to go for 2 to try to win it? Probably not since most coaches are gutless, and regardless, it still gives you yet another chance to win the game if you stop the 2 point conversion.

There’s no reason to ever kick an XP and go up 8 unless you have a top notch defense and you’re just playing not to lose.

  482. LouisFriend Says:

Historically the Bucs used to value preseason wins a LOT more than they do now. Here’s a story clip from a 1993 Bucs preseason win over the Bills. Gives you an idea of how miserable this franchise used to be:

**”But don’t tell the Tampa Bay Buccaneers their 32-12 triumph over three-time defending AFC champion Buffalo on Saturday in front of 37,125 at the Florida Citrus Bowl was meaningless.

They’re not about to buy the argument. This was a team sorely in need of something to feel good about.

Finally, after a month of sweating it out during two-a-days under the burning sun, the Bucs were able to reap a few rewards. Behind a strong defensive effort – the Bucs limited the Bills to 166 yards of offense – and a solid relief performance by second-string quarterback Craig Erickson, the Bucs rolled to 26 second-half points.

“The Bills should have blown us out,” Wyche said. “We saw a good team. We stepped up to the challenge. The offense drew the line,” Bucs coach Sam Wyche said. “At halftime, we did not talk about the things we had been doing wrong, but about what we were going to do right. We came out in the second half and did that. I feel good about the game.”

True, the Bucs took control after Bruce Smith, Cornelius Bennett and Buffalo’s first-team defense had retired for the night. In fact, when Bills starting quarterback Jim Kelly exited the game in the second quarter, his team was on top, 9-0. But the Bucs exhibited some positive signs they had yet to display in two lackluster preseason defeats.”
