SirVocea Dennis Listed As First-Team Inside Linebacker

With the first preseason game kicking off Friday night, today is almost useless depth chart day.
It’s the first official depth chart released by the team this summer. Most coaches say it’s meaningless, little more than satisfying a league rule to issue one.
The Bucs dropped theirs this morning and Joe’s not seeing any surprises on offense, so the offense is not show belown. On defense? That’s another story.
SirVocea Dennis is listed as the starting inside linebacker alongside veteran newcomer Alex Anzalone. On the second team is rookie inside linebacker Josiah Trotter, who has wowed at training camp and, frankly, was drafted to start.
Why did the Bucs put Trotter on second team when first-round pick Rueben Bain is on the first team? That reality means it can’t be an unwritten rookie rule thing.
Punt returner was somewhat noteworthy, with Kameron Johnson listed as top dog ahead of Tez Johnson. Joe thinks Kameron Johnson might struggle to make the roster.

Just a couple of observations: KR should not be any of our three running backs. Big injury risk from some future Waffle House short order cook trying to make a roster. Where is Ayden Garnes, the undrafted CB. Based on what I have been reading that guy is the real deal. Ben Morrison..a #2 CB? Why?

Braswell appears to be on the outside looking in.
Seems Bowles got something right, but then he became Bowles again by keeping Dennis first team.
Unless he tears it up during preseason, where he should see significant action, Braswell could easily be a last cut day causality.

Don’t let Kam Johnson go. I’d rather him over Sills as a 6th WR.
Kam came here as a rookie when Liam Coen was here as OC and brought a different dimension and dynamic to the WR room. Since Zac & Liam are so close and talk daily, I’d be curious to know the Kam Johnson conversations they’ve had thus far. I also wonder if the Jags would pick up Kam if Bucs cut him.
I am excited to see this Dean Patterson kid play though. And curious to see how Houston plays this preseason too.
But to me, Kam is the best all around 6th WR option and offers return ability to boot.

SirVocea Dennis is just a formality to say he’s the starter until proven otherwise. I think all the coaches know Dennis is not going to start over Trotter but at the same time they must give the message that all positions must be earn and won and not merely gifted.

Not looking too much in to it. Standard protocol if not tradition to not list a rookie as a starter when the initial depth chart comes out. Jeremiah Love is the highest paid running back in the history the world, the 3rd pick and destroying everyone in practice and hes listed as RB 2 over Tyler Allgeir which is objectively hilarious. Now..If Dennis is playing every snap in week 1 and hes back to his dennis the menace no pass defense ways then sure, all those twinkies has officially rotted Todd’s brain

If Licht gets his head out of his butt, he’s listing Dennis on the first team to inflate his trade value. Trade him to the Chargers for CB Cam Hart or to the Bengals for NT McKinley Jackson. Get something for Dennis we can actually use.

Game wrecker phenom David Walker is listed among future UPS drivers. Anything short of domination from him against 3rd stringers Thursday night will be a letdown thanks to the hype machine. I will be watching closely.

I see no problem with Dennis starting the first preseason game…
eager to see his improvements if any….the defense needs competition and quality depth….if SVD has improved and isnt giving up the starting role easily, it bolds well for the defense…

C’MON GUYS, this is a preseason game people, REALLY!!!!!!! Does it really matter who if all the 3rd stringers would be listed as starters. To be honest I hope none the the vets or premium rookies wouldn’t even play.
