ESPN Reports “Heavy” Trade Interest In Vita Vea

ESPN had insider Jeremy Fowler at One Buc Palace today patrolling the compound through the morning.
Part of what that resulted in was a report stating trade interest is “pretty heavy” for Vita “Trade Me” Vea. However, per Fowler, he was told “the Bucs don’t plan to trade [Vea].” But interestingly, Fowler also said the Bucs didn’t make much of an effort, if any, to extend Vea’s contract.
That leads Joe to the obvious. If the Bucs don’t want Vea long-term, then take a quality trade offer. If interest is strong, understandably so, then the Bucs should be able to score quality compensation.
Fowler added that Vea is upset with the current situation.

That’s great news then! Hopefully, two teams just have to HAVE HIM, and they end up ‘bidding’ against one another. That’s a BEST case scenario for the Bucs.

Does nothing for us in the short-term, and it’ll make every defender in our front 7 have to work harder while we’re just sitting on the comp. Trading the 1 player that makes the jobs of the other 10 guys he shares the field with easier would make no sense.

I absolutely want them to resign Vita Vea! Vital to this season, and for a variety of reasons, this season is so critical moving forward for this franchise. Obviously draft capital is exciting (Dexter Lawrence went for the 10th overall pick mind you), but I believe this team is win now ready. Why are we disrupting that right now with Vea and Mayfield?

I’m not sure this has been covered yet, but consider this a shot in the dark:
Earlier Joe had a post talking about how Team Glazer might be the ones holding up contract extensions with Vea and Baker
Now let’s rewind to the end of the season: Every year (I forget who) does an Exit Interview for all 32 NFL teams, and they rank the coaches, executives, and even owners.
If I remember correctly, Bowels and Licht got their share of flowers.
Team Glazer, definitely did not.
Over the years we’ve heard about them being cheap as far as team facilities go (there was the Weight Fiasco of 2025, and I remember there being a story about how they make players pay for babysitting at One Buc, which I do find off-putting). Now this is supposed to be anonymous, but what if Team Glazer had either put together who was giving them such low grades to the public, or were given the names?
What if a couple of those names are team captains who are going into the final year of their respective contracts?

VV and Jalen Carter played almost the same amount of snaps over that time
VV is double teamed more than almost every player in the NFL

Only if you;re deliberately not trying to get the point being made. People who don’t understand that there’s a difference between a DT, a DE, and a NT shouldn’t be drawing comparisons between the three.
Granted, this is just how I’m interpreting it, but what I think he’s saying is that NTs don’t grow on trees. NT’s are more valuable than DT’s because they’re essentially doing the job of two men by themself, and they should be paid like it.

There’s no difference in position, the difference between a nose tackle and a DT is where their alignment up on the front.
So again, if we’re in a 4-man front 60-70% of the time with 2 DTs & a 2 OLBs on the LOS, then NO if Vita is lined up anywhere that isn’t directly over the CENTER he’s lined up as a defensive tackle.
That is the difference, so screaming “we’re a 3-4 team” when we bust out our base 30% of the time or less, where it’s required for Vita line up as a NT.
That’s the positional flexibility that Bowles has been talking about since 2019.
It’s not that hard to understand, especially if you know the difference in techniques for DEFENSIVE LINEMAN differs based off what there assignment is and where they line up. Vita isn’t ONLY a 0-tech, so talking as if he is is erroneous and kind of ignorant especially when you’re being annoying about it.

Culverhouse days are back. Brady been gone for what like 3 years now this season. It’s back to ownership turning us into the Yucs. I do agree if you have no intentions on re signing him then trade him and get something for him. Knowing the Bucs they will screw it all up and end up with Vita pissed off or hurt a month into the season and won’t get anything for him and he will walk when the season is over.

The Bucs don’t have the cap space to sign both Baker and Vea. Better in the long term to trade Vea now and get something in return that just having to let Vea walk after the season ends.

I’ve been a fan long before the Glazers took over. They spend money on championship teams! Problem is right now we are average with an average coach. Probably didn’t help that the team P!ssed away $14 million on Reddick last year. There are a couple other contracts like Winfield where the team isn’t getting their value also. The Bucs are up against the cap but have only a decent team to show for it. If I were an owner my patience would be wearing thin.

It is absolutely mind-blowing to me about all the bed-wetting going on with some of these people. Like I’ve said about them all along… They are DELUSIONAL, for buying into THIS TEAM as having a “LOADED” ROSTER (Lmao), and being legit true Super Bowl Contenders. I said all along, that it was just ABSURD and that they were DELUSIONAL. But, ohhhh no… They just REFUSED to listen hahahah. NOW, they’re all panicking before even the FIRST PRACTICE. It’s Ridiculous. It just goes to show much they really ‘believed-in’ THEIR OWN convictions, and with just HOW EMPTY they truly are. They have ZERO credibility, whatsoever.

@ Bucnjim – Also, on Godwin and McCollum. You DON’T hand THAT type of $$$ over ($44-MILLION, and 3-YEARS) ‘fully-guaranteed’ to an aging WR like that, coming off of such a SEVERE INJURY, like that. And, you definitely DON’T do it immediately AFTER burning a 1st-Round PICK (#19) on HIS REPLACEMENT. Makes ZERO SENSE. We got absolutely NOTHING for that $22-MIL last season, AND it will STILL affect our cap in 2027 (and probably, well beyond), EVEN if we decide to walk-away, & move off of him.

The owners are officially in rebuild mode whether they say it or not . I’m just glad this is my last season for tickets . I feel another bad decade will be starting this year. If the owners are driving this then the gm should let the world know. Licht should see this is his and Bowles last year . If I’m baker I’m gone after this year especially if he has a great year. If the team doesn’t believe in him now will they ever? Ridiculous . Our owners haven’t learned a damn thing .
