Dan Orlovsky Driving The Bucs Bandwagon
May 27th, 2026Hear ye, hear ye. The noted football sophist Dan Orlovsky has spoken. And apparently, he has not forgotten his roots.
The former Bucs backup quarterback believes in big things for the Bucs this fall.
What are those big things? On paper, Orlovsky said on NFL Live on BSPN, the Bucs are the best team in the skanky NFC South. One reason he gave is the common football axiom that the Bucs have the best quarterback in the division, Baker Mayfield.
But it’s not just Mayfield, Orlovsky pointed out. Orlovsky likes how Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht has invested in the defensive front-seven, in free agency and the draft, highlighted of course by drafting Mean Joe Greene Rueben Bain.
Boy, Joe sure hopes Orlovsky is right. But Joe is starting to sense hat-and-T-shirt fatigue from Bucs fans. Winning yet another skanky NFC South division title is OK, but there are bigger fish to fry — like when you’re dying of thirst, an ice cold Coors Light is better than no beer.
Enough of being the best team in a rotten division. Go win playoff games!
Listening to Orlovsky, former Miss St. Petersburg and Miss Florida and former Rays dugout princess Laura Rutledge, doesn’t seem to be a believer.

I respect Dans opinions. We just have to calculate in the coaching malfeasance against the talent level.

“On paper, I think the Bucs are NFC Championship contenders.”
Well, this is very exciting, but we are all still stuck with Todd Bowles as DC
I can deal with him being HC, it’s too late for any kind of change, but to still have him as DC is inexplicable and inexcusable!
Also… I saw Raise the Flags again last night…. tail end…. it was a little better
My point of reference with Tampa Bay was when Steve Sabol roamed the earth and he had NFL Follies and had beloved John McKay as head coach mic’d up and all those one liners on the sideline and post game press conferences ….. he was a riot!!!… Anyway….

Pats won 6 titles in the AFC east while it was a steaming pile of you know what(and sorta still is) and people called them a dynasty.
Bucs not only dodge salary cap purgatory, but manage to squeak out some division titles and

The Pats dominated that division. They didn’t back in or win by default.
They also had playoff success to go with it.
Not remotely the same.
May 27th, 2026 at 7:57 am
Their easy division (back then there were FIVE teams) gave them 8 gimme wins every year, making home field advantage easier to get. Nothing like a warm weather team having to win in Massachusetts in January
May 27th, 2026 at 8:17 am
Losing the division was the best thing to happen to Bucs last year. That participation trophy has Licht and Bowles thinking content to live in mediocrity

“The Pats dominated that division. They didn’t back in or win by default.”
Not the point Stormy, they dominated that division because it was trash.
You think if the Pats had to play teams they struggled with like the Ravens or Steelers twice a year, they would’ve won all those division titles? I don’t
But here are the W-L totals of all 3 teams in the AFC East during that Patriot run
From ’01-’19 when the Pats won 17 division titles:
Jets 139-165
Bills 129-175
Dolphins 138-166
Not comparing our team to the Patriots, we clearly don’t have prime, long hair Tom Brady. I am comparing fan sentiment for a team that wins a division and that not being good enough, which I get. To constantly hammer that same nail though, is redundant af

Yeah the Bowles lead Bucs are basically the same as the 6 time champion Pats.
Smoke another one please, you aren’t high enough yet to truly believe that.
It took Tom Brady coming to Tampa for us to reach the top of the mountain.
How’s it going since he left??? Oh, that’s right, never mind. NFC South titles are the SB during the Todd Bowles era.
False hope and manufactured hype doesn’t win games in January.

“Yeah the Bowles lead Bucs are basically the same as the 6 time champion Pats.”
Clearly not the point, it wasn’t a team comparison, it was a comparison of situations. Though I realize, posting here is like a game of telephone and your call is where dragons and zombies would get factored into real life situations.
You don’t get tired of finding new ways to say the same sh*t? Geezus Tyrone Christmas

I believe one of the prerequisites for sophistry is being clever which Orlovsky is not. Also, Sophists are usually not nice people and Orlovsky seems like a hell of a nice guy. I’ve noticed that a lot of his takes are met by some raised eyebrows among his brethren and sistheren in media.

Change the Bucs goal – F$&@ winning a lousy division and have a goal of a ‘Deep Playoff Run’. Stop playing down to the lousy division competition!
May 27th, 2026 at 9:36 am
It’s been clear for years, ever since Brady dispatched Brees, that the Bucs were the King of a weak division. That was (and is) an opportunity. Good teams take advantage by putting inferior opponents away, by gathering superior talent, and by using the weakness of the schedule to leverage a bye or strong seed in the playoffs.
The Bucs didn’t take advantage of that window. They had cap hell, true, but the Saints showed how that problem could be put off for years. They had bad luck with Jensen and the O-line. They used bad strategy in the 2021-22 drafts and they made some bad choices in free agency. IOW they had an opportunity but sure didn’t maximize it.
The team is in luck because their competition is still underwhelming. But the Pats won in part by assassinating all rivals in division. The Bucs have a chance, as per Dumb and Dumber, but they don’t have much wiggle room. The key has to be putting together a team roster that scares opponents and bulldozes the overmatched. Playing down has become a habit, and it’s a hard one to break.

I think Bowles is an awful coach especially with what we witnessed last season.
Had that happened on any of the 31 other teams in this league he absolutely would have been fired. That’s almost universally agreed with. Having said that he’s still here and in charge so we’re left with 2 things to
May 27th, 2026 at 9:39 am
ponder. Either we think that Todd is finally going to raise his ceiling this season, something he’s yet to show or we hope the players talent can overcome the obvious flaws of our Kit Kat eating boss.
May 27th, 2026 at 11:47 am
Our first goal should be to sweep the division. That is not a hill too high to climb; we should be favored in every matchup. This should secure the division. Even going .500 in the rest of the games –we should do better than that– will give us a good seeding in the playoffs. Focus on the division. Constantly demeaning our most immediate adversaries weakens the effort required to conquer them. It’s fundamentally demoralizing to tell a team that even if they win, they’re garbage. Rule One: respect your opponent. Rule Two: enjoy the victory.
May 27th, 2026 at 11:57 am
How? Why?
1. Questionable QB. Hurt or turnover prone. No real post-season success.
2. Terrible HC.
3. Lost 2 HOF and 1 Key Starter. Evans, LVD, Dean.
They added …
3 – Bargain FAs
1 – Slow, undersized DE rookie who doesn’t have a natural position
1 – KJ Britt v2 rookie ILB
5 – Role player rookies
This team is going to be terrible. The Bucs finish 5-12. Finish 4th in NFCS.

@BucU: Just because you fire a Man doesn’t mean his replacement will be better. Witch team that replaced it’s coach will be better? (the Giants) Can’t get worse. Remember the Ravens fired Harbaugh (would you have been one of their fans calling for it) how much better will they be???

“Clearly not the point, it wasn’t a team comparison, it was a comparison of situations.” – WBL
How is the situation the same other than a lousy division? That’s where it ends.
Belichick > Bowles
Brady > Mayfield
Defensive dominance > Swiss cheese scheme
Playoff wrecking ball > Playoff ball sack
It seems you prefer the ball sack.

@anyhony and if you don’t fire that man you will never know right? This is a silly argument. This is a sink or swim season for bowles.
May 27th, 2026 at 2:40 pm
Can’t make a playoff run if you can’t get to the playoffs. Best path to the playoffs is to win the division.
It’s truly dumb to continue to slander division titles.
And the Brady bone lickers are an embarrassment to men everywhere. You guys think the strippers really like you too ?
