More Rueben Bain Gushing From Todd Bowles

May 12th, 2026

Bucs savior rookie edge rusher Rueben Bain.

Joe can’t get enough of the Rueben Bain love. It’s everywhere, even today at One Buc Palace when Bucs QB coach Chandler Whitmer got in on the action.

The Tampa Bay first-round pick edge rusher out of the University of Miami makes an impression.

Joe has shared many, but how about one more from head coach Todd Bowles during his recent visit to SiriusXM NFL Radio.

Bowles delivered his predraft thoughts on Bain.

“He is very well grounded. Obviously, he was raised the right way,” Bowles said. “Very mannerable, understands that this is a business — always out to prove something and prove himself right, not to prove anyone else wrong. He has a motor and a mentality and just a relentless mentality that he is gonna go hard every play and he’s gonna wear you down and he’s going to beat you. And that’s the way he trains. That’s the way he practices. That’s the way he goes about his off-field activities.

“When you are walking and talking to the guy, I mean, he has a sense of humor as well, but at the same time, he is coming for all business. He’s alpha dog and he is very infectious rubbing off on people.”

The pads come on at training camp in about 82 days.

So the key question is, what will Todd do by when to thoroughly confuse, paralyze, and demoralize his prized rookie. Will he drop him into the end zone bleachers? Will he have him standing in an empty flat looking bewildered? Or will he constantly move him around in his genius 3-4 to make sure he never gets to play to his strengths? The money is on a combination of all three.

82 DAYS!!!!!!!….GEEZ, thats a life time away lol

    GO BUCS!!!!

  3. LynchMob50 Says:

Bowles will have him in coverage 40 yards downfield.

    3rd and 28

  4. 813bucboi Says:

I think bowles will let him do what he does best…

i’d like to see CK94 play more on the outside…he has the skills and power to dominate on the edge

    GO BUCS!!!!

  5. 3.28.Evans Says:

    253 days and counting.

  6. Teacherman Says:

We may not have won the Super Bowl if Tristan Wirfs hadn’t fallen to us.

Bain falling to #15 is another Buccaneer Miracle.

    We lost our Leader, Lavonte.

But we have gained a new Leader from the streets of Miami.

    Bain!

    Go Bucs!

  7. Ballwasher61 Says:

Hey you forgot to bring up Cooper Kupp and how that was the only thing that kept us from winning that game. And don’t forget TB is responsible for high gas prices, global warming, cow flatulence burning the ozone…. oh wait, that’s posters on here….

  8. BucsfaninOregon Says:

Forget the cows, enough from guys like Ballwasher to melt every iceberg in N. Hemisphere!

  9. a-bomb Says:

I think some of the posters on here forget that this is a team that is still in rebuild mode. The rebuild was accelerated by getting Mayfield, but replenishing the talent to pre-2020 levels takes some time. Ownership clearly knows that this is still a rebuilding team which is why Bowles was retained and why Licht clings so tightly to draft picks. The team played over its head at the beginning of last season which gave the illusion that the team is better than it really is. When the team regressed to the mean in the second half of the season the talent deficits became more apparent. Hopefully, this past draft helps improve the overall talent level. But this team has a bunch of good to really good players and very few “great” players. With the parity in the NFL, the difference between being a .500 ball club and a SB club comes down to having a few “great” players that make a difference. I still do not see much “greatness” on this team- especially on the defense.

Oh, I thought the title said more Todd Bowles bashing.
It doesn’t matter what the title says ,Bowles is getting bashed so is Baker by the usual trolls

  11. rrsrq Says:

Hopefully, after 17 weeks and playoffs, we are all gushing about Joy and Bain

  12. 3.28.Evans Says:

99 idiots on the wall take one down pass it around.

  13. Tom Edrington Says:

If he lived up to all this preseason HYPE, he’d have 20 sacks this season.

  14. Kenton Smith Says:

98 Idiots on the wall! Guilty! Good one 3.28!

  15. Bojim Says:

Just let him eat. Thats all I care about.

You should know a thing or two about being passed around
    I hear you like 🌈🦄🏳️‍🌈

  18. SlyPirate Says:

    FEEL FOR THE YOUNG MAN
Too much hype. He won’t live up to it.

    Baine will have 3-4 sacks.
Everyone will say he’s a bust. He’s too slow. His arms are too short.

No one will remember that Sapp had 3 sacks as a rookie.

  19. View from 132 Says:

Too much hype and comparisons to Wirfs or any other recent pick are silly. The Bucs truth is simple – NO ONE on the roster has been a winner without Brady. Not coaches. Not Baker. Not Vita Vea.

That’s what is at stake – a whole lotta people need to show up in the NFC Championship or later WITHOUT Tom Brady or this roster is a fraud.

  20. Woodman Says:

3-28 (Ironlung) don’t forget your annual name change before the season starts

  21. Ash Says:

I’m so hyped for Bain bucs havent had an edge defender with the kinda bend and strength he has and you can see the fire and determination that guy has the season can’t get her fast enough go bucs hurricane bain hell yes.

  22. Oxycondomns Says:

glad to hear he trains hard, hopefully it will rub off on teammates

  23. Oxycondomns Says:

hopefully he will hold teammates accountable to also train hard

3-28 (Ironlung) don’t forget your annual name change before the season starts

    That is so true!
Lynchmob , 3.28. aqua turd , and Sesame Street Grover will change their names as soon as they get proven wrong. They will act like true fans when the Bucs turn it around . They will hide

  25. Lt. Dan Says:

Chicken or the egg situation for me. Akeem Mesidor has 12.5 sacks last year while Bain had 9.5 sack. Is Mesidor that much better than Bain or were his sacks a result of teams paying much more attention to Bain. 9.5 sacks against future car mechanics and Publix managers just doesn’t seem like a lot.

  26. JimBobBuc Says:

It’s hype and hope every offseason. While I feel great about Bain, I love it when the short-arm experts keep putting a big chip in his shoulder.

  27. Buddha Says:

Alpha…Isn’t that what they called Warren Sapp?

  28. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Chicken or the egg situation for me. Akeem Mesidor has 12.5 sacks last year while Bain had 9.5 sack. Is Mesidor that much better than Bain or were his sacks a result of teams paying much more attention to Bain.“

Mesidor was at Miami 4 years got a total of 26 sacks & 38 TFLs since ‘22.

Bain got to The U in ‘23, recorded 20 sacks & 33.5 TFLs over that time.

Mesidor is already 25, Bain won’t be that age until the start of the 2029 regular season.

That entire Miami front was pretty hellacious, and they had a lot of different guys holding the belt when they were whippin up on teams throughout the season.

It was insinuated that Licht was probably going to move back for Mesidor because they weren’t expecting Bain to fall, but he did so and we got him without having to reach up or reach back.

I think we got the better player, which is my personal opinion, but I think just looking at the age we got a player with more potential to play a longer career and without the foot injury history. Hopefully, the only foot problem Bain has is removing it from some OT or QBs hind parts.

  29. Lt. Dan Says:

@WBL: Point understood. And yea the age thing is a valid point. I live in VA so I didn’t get to watch a ton of Miami football. But from the highlights I saw, Bain was usually going against the other team’s RT and not the LT. I have big hopes for Bain…if Bowles can use him the right way.

  30. Ballwasher61 Says:

Hey BFan I was referencing the usuall trolls.

  31. Pat soyjack Says:

Guys are ready to put him in the ring of honor already. Ready to fit him for canton?

  32. LynchMob50 Says:

    @ #99 the Big Fella

If name changes are necessary, it’s due to the North Korea style censorship that takes place from the dear leader Joes that run the site with an iron fist.

    Now go fist yourself.

  33. #99 the Big Fella Says:

LynchMob50, calling a football blog ‘North Korea’ while posting on it 20 times a day is one of the dumbest self-owns imaginable.

You’re not a freedom fighter — you’re an angry guy rage-refreshing a Bucs comment section telling strangers to ‘go fist themselves’ like a middle schooler who just discovered Xbox chat.

Now go change your screen name again so nobody recognizes your daily emotional breakdowns.”

  34. Jack Says:

I have issues at times with the joes but saying they engage in censorship is laughably stupid.
They let you (and your type) post the same 💩 20-40 times per day year round.

  35. #99 the Big Fella Says:

    Very true Jack!

  36. Tony Says:

    @813BucBoi

I’ve been saying that for awhile about Kancey. They really should consider doing that with him.

  37. 3.28.Evans Says:

As long as maroons with nothing but blind hope puke platitudes, keep gnashing teeth and berating objective yet humorous criticism of the dumpster fire that “He who should have been fired” operates, the criticisms will increase in frequency and intensity. Plenty of material to work with .

It’s awesome how much the Pollies are triggered, and the dumb one likes to use 8th grade snark and bullying tactics. On an anonymous Internet forum. Hilarious. The more they object, the more they will see until they just stop reading it (always an option).

    More Todd Truths coming.

  38. LynchMob50 Says:

Flat earthers = Todd Bowles apologists

  39. exBrowns02 Says:

    “…..objective yet humorous criticism…..”

Very few agree with you on this. You just have an axe to grind. The rest of us — real fans — are more constructively wait-and-see types that would rather rest on positives than negatives. What’s the point on focusing on the past and any past negatives when the future is looking so much better? Do you want the Bucs to win, or would you rather they lose so that your useless diatribe is vindicated?

  40. exBrowns02 Says:

Bain’s best quote (draft night): “I’m the best in the country and I’m gonna prove it.”

That’s one hell of a bold quote coming from a college player transitioning to the NFL.

Whether or not Rueben is able to prove this isn’t nearly as important as what he’s really saying, and that is that he is going to continue to dedicate himself to being the best he can be.

Gotta like this young man — another guy that I can’t wait to see in a Buc’s uniform on opening day!

  41. Woodman Says:

As long as Todd is living rent free in your head 3-28 I sleep well

  42. #99 the Big Fella Says:
