“You Default To The Better Quarterback”
May 6th, 2026
The NFL remains a quarterback-driven league, even after Sam Darnold won a Super Bowl.
Joe loves the revival of rushing offense in this decade, but teams — and assessing them — are still very much about their quarterbacks.
Former Panthers, Chiefs, Vikings and Giants guard Geoff Schwartz was breaking down the NFC South while co-hosting on SiriusXM NFL Radio this week. He feels good about the Bucs’ roster but doesn’t see it as much better than the rosters of the Falcons and Panthers.
“They’re just getting older, dude, at a lot of positions,” Schwartz said of Tampa Bay. “But their talent is certainly there. Right?
“Look at defensively, I like the Rueben Bain addition and the [Josiah] Trotter addition in the draft. Vita Vea is incredible but he’s getting up there in age. They added A’Shawn Robinson, who has been a good, quality player for most of his career. Obviously, some overhaul at linebacker. … The secondary at times can be good but I don’t know if it’s consistent there.”
Schwartz praised the Bucs offense but thinks the November and December edition of Baker Mayfield was more than just bad luck.
” I think Mayfield did start to show some of his age last year. He’s a guy that chronically sort of has little bumps and bruises with the style he plays,” Schwartz said.
Still, division advantage Bucs. “I think you default to the better quarterback,” Schwartz said, referring to Mayfield in comparison to Bryce Young.
For those wondering, Schwartz was drafted by the Panthers and still lives in the region, so he’s definitely paying attention to the Panthers.
The Joe typing here feels a lot like Schwartz does. Mayfield is the division’s best quarterback until someone proves otherwise, and that’s just about always good enough to make a team the favorite to win the division crown.

“The secondary at times can be good but I don’t know if it’s consistent there.”
Someone wake up Bowles from his Kit-Kat eating coma and show him this.
As far as our QB situation goes, Mayfield isn’t clutch and likely never will be.
NFC South = Burning sack of dog poo.
Perfect division for the brain trust of Baker > Bowles > Licht.
May 6th, 2026 at 3:30 pm
What other positions is he saying we are old? DT and QB? I think he doesn’t know anything about the Bucs he’s just a stinking Panther homer.
May 6th, 2026 at 3:43 pm
Sam Darnold is a good quarterback imho. Just needs a solid line. Very similar to Baker and many good quarterbacks.
May 6th, 2026 at 3:45 pm
ait until you guys realize Tua is 44-32 playing in the AFC East with josh Allen and the SB pats last year. His win % is higher then Tampa version Baker. His stats will surprise you especially if you look at his “per game” splits. His biggest issue (and its a important one) is health. Dont forget at 25 he was 11-6 and had 4600 yards and led the NFL #1 offense.
Tua is 28. Year one of “born again” baker lol here in Tampa. You heard it here first. tua is going to a lesser division. Pairing him with a HC that was COY twice by the age of 41. You guys are just going to have to swallow facts. Tua even with a off year in 2025 wins more in a tougher division then Baker in a lesser one.
Im not saying the Afc East has been the NFc West but it has regularly put 2 double digit winning teams in the playoffs and buffalo has been to multiple title games. far, far stronger then the Afc East the last 4 years.
career for career tua has superior “per game” metrics and is far more accurate then Baker. Lol, Baker got 21% of his career tds in one fluke, low impact, outlier season. Dont believe it wasa outlier? he finished 3rd in completion %. His next best season was 19th. The other 6 was 25th or lower.
Im not trolling. I think Tua will be better in 2026 and i gave you reasons why. Atlanta has weapons. But basically the NFc South Qb derby is essentially the “tallest midget” competition. Almost literally between Bryce, tua and baker lol.
May 6th, 2026 at 3:52 pm
I’m a Bucs fan, been one forever
But I’m not gonna say Baker is the best QB in the NFC South
It’s easier said than done, so I’m not going there
These young QBs in the NFC can breakout at any time
Atlanta, New Orleans, Carolina added offensive weapons during the draft
I’m not sleeping in them
May 6th, 2026 at 3:56 pm
He had the Jets in his division.
And he’s nowhere near Baker. If he even starts.
May 6th, 2026 at 3:59 pm
BBBB. You’re tryin to tell us Tua is better than Baker. He’s 0-1 in the playoffs with a 62 passer rating. He’s never on the field because he’s got mush for brains. Kind of like you, BBBB. Wish you wouldn’t waste valuable space that real fans could constructively comment.
May 6th, 2026 at 3:59 pm
Baker Mayfield is the oldest starting QB in the NFC South
But that don’t necessarily makes him the best QB
These young QBs have loads of potential, they’re not bad QBs
We will know who’s the best come February
Right now everything is speculation
May 6th, 2026 at 4:02 pm
November and December edition of Baker Mayfield was more than just bad luck.
BINGO!!!!!!
unfortunately, the NOV & DEC version of baker is who he is
GO BUCS!!!!
May 6th, 2026 at 4:06 pm
I like Baker. But I’d trade him to the Steelers, before paying him 50mil a year.
May 6th, 2026 at 4:11 pm
Best QB in the NFC ain’t saying much.
Mayfield-Shough-Tua/Penix-Young
It’s like debating what’s the best day for jury duty
May 6th, 2026 at 4:38 pm
For $50M per year, you could upgrade the three interior offensive line positions to somewhere between the top five and top ten at each position. Behind those guys and Wirth and Goedeke, Tua at $2M per year night be fine.
Part of what makes Baker so valuable is his ability to survive in the situations he faced last year. But, that was surviving, not thriving.
With good protection, many lesser quarterbacks can thrive. And, with good protection, Baker’s stubborn determination can backfire when he refuses to just throw the ball away on a play that is going nowhere.
Brady with the Bucs lacked many of Baker’s qualities. Gut, Brady was great at taking the snap, assessing the situation, saying, “Oh, hell no – airmail!” as he zipped h the ball out of bounds.
May 6th, 2026 at 4:38 pm
Baker lacks consistency. I respect his heart but his brain needs to keep him from getting hurt trying to win a game in the first half of the season. He gets banged up and when he really needs to shine he is too hurt. Even not hurt he can be inconsistent and that will hurt his contract length and money. He has the most experience and the least excuses to be the “best” qb compared to the sad nfc south.
May 6th, 2026 at 4:53 pm

You know ball.
I said it during the 2-7 slide and I said it after the season. The Baker we saw during those games are who he is. The table was set for him to be the hero. All he had to do is win one more game against backup QBs to make the playoffs, but he couldn’t do it. Other teams made the playoffs with worse OLs and worse defenses, in harder divisions.
He won’t be able to hide this year. He’ll have to get results or even the media narrative will start changing. All these articles about a pending contract sound like agent talk to put public pressure on the Bucs.
When he plays the exact same way this season don’t be surprised.
May 6th, 2026 at 4:55 pm
Kenton Smith: You forgot baker at 27 was 1-5 in carolina and was by far the lowest ranked Qb in the NFL and was even scout team defense lol. I cant say the team was terrible because the 2022 panthers were 7-10. 1-5 with baker and 6-5 without him-Darnold was 4-2 and even Pj Walker was 2-3 lol.
You guys can stop acting like Baker is this 6-4″, blue chip, high pedigree, HOF type guy. give me a F’n break. its not like we win 13-14 games a year. With baker at the helm we are every year in a dog fight, smack dab in the middle of this “crap” show division.
With washed up Derek Carr, Cousins and qbs like Young and Ridder we are right in the middle of it. First team that gets a young stud Qb will OWN the division. The division will not stay terrible forever and its surprising its been bad this long. It may never get to the 2015-2020 era but it will improve sooner then later.
As far as the jets being in the AFc East…And? Whats your point. Whether its Buffalo/New England or Buffalo/Miami that divsion has regularly put 2 teams in the playoffs this decade. Now compare that to ours when we only get a team in because its a RULE.
Get out of here cult member. Screenshot this, when baker is gone I will be driving around the stadium in my 911. You can protest outside One Bucs place in your 1995 regular can, 4 cyllinder s-10 with the OU flag. take your inbre self over to the OU fan page where im sure he is a God there. In the NFL he is a JAG. Despite all the hype and hoopla.
I love how you guys say “Stafford had a losing record after 8 years too” but ignore in 6 of those he had 6 seasons with 4000 yards, including 5000 and a 4900 yard season and that was in the 16 game era. baker doesnt put up stats or even wins like the Darnolds, Purdys, Garapolo, Goffs and jalen Hurts of the world.
I know someone pretty well who work at one buc place. Like i said, the business and analytics side are not pro Baker at all. The football ppl are because they figure they are more likely to win 8-10 games with him as opposed to a unknown. Bowles and Licht know this isnt a title game or Sb contender. They want to keep this core intact as long as possible because its job security.
Thats what it boils down to. You guys slammed Licht for not making trades and giving up picks and future cap space when he tried and was vetoed. If you know any beat reporter and ask them off the camera they will tell you the exact same thing.
The business/analytics were pushing for a teardown for 2026 and wanted to prepare for the next era. Bowles was retained because they couldnt land any guy they coveted so they would have essentially been firing him to fire him (pay him) for anew guy they were lukewarm on, fire (pay0 and hire a candidate they really want.
Alot of you guys dont have a clue whats going on. Crosby nor Trey were ever a option. The only reason they didnt go full rebuild is because the division is so putrid 7-8 wins might get it done and this ownership values home playoff games.
May 6th, 2026 at 5:03 pm
Yeah.
No.
May 6th, 2026 at 5:18 pm
He’s good enough to go 2-7 down the stretch and gag like a fat 99 trying to swallow the whole hog
May 6th, 2026 at 5:25 pm
Last season, I had much excitement and such a positive outlook. I will not be duped again. The Bucs suck until they prove otherwise.
May 6th, 2026 at 5:33 pm
“Brady was great at taking the snap, assessing the situation, saying, “Oh, hell no – airmail!” as he zipped h the ball out of bounds.”
Gronk was just on Lenny & Jarvis’ podcast talking about how much of a stickler Brady was for precision and make the best throw on every rep he got. Also dropped a tidbit about Brady keeping his skill players after practice to throw routes at them. Gronk was the first to point out, if you didn’t catch a majority of passes in that post-practicing segment, it was likely Tom wouldn’t throw you the ball on Gameday. Lenny let it be known, that there were time Brady would tell him he wasn’t getting a ball passed to him at all or they’d go off res and improvise in the game and Lenny or other players would take the heat from BA for doing so lol
Like, I get these guys played the same position, in the same league, with some of the same players and for the same franchises, but they play the game to totally different and as we all know, Tom put massive amounts of work in over his career to be the player he became. Idk if anybody can say the same about Midfield
May 6th, 2026 at 5:38 pm
Bbbb is definitely Rod Munch, no doubt about it. Who else would say such ridiculous junk and waste everybody’s time. The hate runs deep with that one.
May 6th, 2026 at 5:41 pm
Also Kenton whenever someone says “I’m not trolling” that’s *exactly* what they are doing. Let’s stop feeding the trolls. EE had a great draft and things are looking even more up than usual so trolls will show up all over the place. They getting desperate since they know we are going to trounce their teams.
May 6th, 2026 at 5:42 pm
*We, not EE.
May 6th, 2026 at 5:46 pm
Baker Mayfield: 3-4 year $150-$200 million contract coming up. Just workin out the details…
Get used to it haters😭
May 6th, 2026 at 5:51 pm
We’ve had major devastating injuries both of the past 2 years. Almost entire position groups were out. We’re due now and we are going to win a LOT of games this year. You can smell the troll desperation in here. Our offense is loaded with weapons, has a great qb, and our defense is going to shred these lesser teams this year. I wanna see us win some games by 30 or more this year.
NEVER take your foot off the gas.
All gas, no brakes.
And no mercy to the rest of this division!
May 6th, 2026 at 5:55 pm
Coaches and owners know talent and they know Baker is more than talented enough to take us to a superbowl. And that’s good enough for them. It’s exactly why the Glazers came out and said it won’t bother them one bit to cut a big fat check to Baker. Heck, when you beat the team that won the superbowl, uhh yeah, you can take us there. Just have to get a defense and we will be there. I agree well well well, it will be $50 million a year.

Just ask your girl . She says you don’t have anything to gag on.
You truly are a clown. Get out of your room watching cartoons all day and get some fresh air loser boy!
May 6th, 2026 at 6:33 pm
@3.28.Evans
Keep telling the Pom Pom squad the reality that they can’t handle.
Bowles and Baker will never see the SB as HC\DC and QB of the Bucs.
No matter how much propaganda and blind faith they choose to spread.
Our only issue is we believe what our eyes and brain tell us is real.
May 6th, 2026 at 6:40 pm
I heard Schwartz’ comments today and thought he was a moron. The Bucs, if anything, are too young at the majority of their positions. Who, exactly, is the old person on the offense?
Other than a one year rental or two that may or may not even start, who are the old men on defense other than Vita Vea?
As far as Baker’s decline the second half of last season being due to him aging, all I can say is “asinine”!
May 6th, 2026 at 6:42 pm
Hahaha! All the board accountants can’t fathom the market for Baker Mayfield may just be $50 million.
I just appreciate what Baker Mayfield has already shown he can do with one Sean McVay style OC in Liam Coen and look forward to what he might be able to accomplish with another Sean McVay style OC in Zak Robinson. The contract will take care of itself.
The team knows Baker’s value, Baker understands the offensive weapons that the team has invested in around him.
Both sides want a deal, they’ll be happy with what comes of it.
May 6th, 2026 at 6:53 pm
3.28.Evans , LynchMob50
You two pencil dicks will act like you never had anything bad to say when the Bucs are winning again. Don’t you two have to finish up hanging your rainbow 🌈 posters up?
May 6th, 2026 at 6:53 pm
Tua was in a tougher division? His entire tenure as a starter, that division had one and only one decent team – the Bills – and he lost to them every single time he played them except for last year when De’Von Achane and the Dolphins defense took the Bills down (Tua was 15/2 for 173 yards with two TDs and two INTs and a QB rating of 88.1.
The Pats and the Jets were even worse teams than any team in the NFC South, again, until last year – the year Tua was benched – when the Pats took advantage of the easiest schedule in the NFL including cruising through weakened teams throughout the playoffs.
May 6th, 2026 at 6:58 pm
“I just appreciate what Baker Mayfield has already shown he can do with one Sean McVay style OC in Liam Coen”
Have a dynamic run game and throw a bunch of short-intermediate routes to pad the passing yards with YAC lol
Some of y’all gotta start looking into how all this stuff comes together, tasting the Mac n cheese isn’t the same as baking the Mac n cheese.
May 6th, 2026 at 6:58 pm
Man, I bet all these Baker haters are super upset to find out that Bucs and Falcons reject, Kyle Trask, has just been invited to try out with the Saints.
May 6th, 2026 at 7:34 pm
Yes, Scotty mack. 4/5 last years this decade the NFc East has put 2 teams in the playoffs and in 2021 the division had 3 teams with winning records. The Nfc South has ONE playoff win the last 4 years. The Pats got 3 last post season alone. yes, that would make it stronger Einstein.
May 6th, 2026 at 7:46 pm
Can you cult members make up your mind? Is our disdain for Baker out of devotion to Winston or Trask/ Ive heard something about Cleveland. You guys are a cult. Ive even seen Lincoln Riley brought up? I might have seen that Seattle game brought up 1,000 times on this page. Good lord. A broke clock is right twice a day. A rookie colt Mccoy convincingly beat brady and Drew brees back to back weeks.
In 2011 Ryan Fitzpatrick beat Brady head to head in a shootout to improve to 3-0 and was in the early season MVP talk. See how ridiculous you guys are being? In the season Darnold won a Sb you guys are puffing your chest out about a October victory?
Darnold has blown past Baker in resume and perception and is younger with a brighter future. Good thing for Seattle last off season they didnt say ” who can we realistically replace geno with”. That loser, defeatist attitude permeates here. But i think most of these guys are Baker fans and will leave with him. Thank goodness.
May 6th, 2026 at 7:56 pm
#99: You must be on your break at the temp agency as a punch press operator. WTF does male genitalia have to do with football? What is “questionable” is how vehement you are in your defense of another dude.
You notice how I keep it football and you guys attack a complete stranger based on absolutely nothing. Ill tell you this: looking at some of these low brow comments there is certainly some inbred trailer park trash in the comments.
Believe me, I can very disrespectful and insulting if I want to, but I dont have to. My football knowledge will suffice. Like I said, when bake ris out of here , Ill be driving around the stadium BLASTING “beautiful day” in my 911. If anyone feels a way, they can approach me if they are that stupid.
May 6th, 2026 at 8:01 pm
Scotty mack: where are you?? Please elaborate on your foolish take about the AFC East the last 5 years vs the NFC South the last 5 years. Or if you want to go 2023-2025 Afc East vs Nfc South. Elaborate how the AFC East has had only one good team lol and discount last year Sb run by New England. this should be good.
The only thing worse then a ignorant moron is a PROUD,ignorant moron. You are as wrong as 2 left shoes as all you Baker cult members are.
May 6th, 2026 at 8:22 pm
Bye Baker Bye Bowles
Stfu, you are driving the stadium on your Barbie jeep playing the bee Kees you fool ass clown
May 6th, 2026 at 8:28 pm
I bashed the fact that they kept Todd Bowles as much as the next guy, but we’re through the draft and free agency.
Can we give the nonstop biotching about the Coach a rest already?????
The ship sailed. He’s not getting fired.
So get on board, root for your team and LFG!
May 6th, 2026 at 8:30 pm
Well said David!! I’m tired of all the Bowles sh*t talking myself
May 6th, 2026 at 8:33 pm
Baker is the QB.
Todd is the coach.
Must really suck to dislike either so intensely and be a Bucs fan. 💩
May 6th, 2026 at 8:39 pm
Baker has only played 8 seasons. Just because he’s top ten in the history of the game in number of TD passes in their first 8 seasons- he and Brady tied with 197, Brees way behind them, doesn’t make him a good QB. And just because in their first 8 years in the league Baker Mayfield has Tom Brady and Drew Brees sniffing Baker’s jock strap- yes, Baker way ahead of those 2 his first 8 years in passing yards. Things like that are concrete. You can’t take that away from him. And he’s still a hungry dog. Those things don’t make him a good NFL Quarterback. That rarified air makes him a great NFL Quarterback. The sky is the limit for that man. And I ain’t whistling Dixie. And idiots around here gonna compare him to the other NFC South QBs. Yeah, right.
May 6th, 2026 at 8:40 pm
Munch is allowing his alter ego, BBBB, to be the Baker hit man these days. Neither of these jamokes know much about Baker. The guy did what Brady would never would have done and that is play behind a javee O line for the last half of 2025. At times Wirfs and both starting guards were out with injuries. Baker toughed it out with injuries and still finished 26 TD 11INT. Of those INT’s at least 2 were because receivers broke of routes and stopped running. Two more were just taken from Cade Otton. The Baker haters ought to watch Mayfield 2025 highlights to see pinpoint passing before his injuries. Really weird that middle aged men are vitriolic in their hatred for a tough 31 year old QB.
May 6th, 2026 at 8:47 pm
Jack , Kenton Smith, Gipper
Finally people with a Brain ,glad to see logical posts..These idiots sound so stupid bashing Baker all the time .
May 6th, 2026 at 8:56 pm
A lot of people here are in for a surprise this year. Uninjured Baker is better than 26 of the QBs in the NFC.
This team is about to explode
May 6th, 2026 at 9:20 pm
Lots of kids/clowns in here. Guessing most are all the same sad person.
Anyway, back to the article.
Assuming most of their draft picks make the team, the Bucs roster will be below league average age. Young players in Tykee, Parrish, Morrison, Trotter, Bain, Scott, Walker, Chukwuma, Hurst, EE, Tez, Barton, Mauch, Bucky, Tucker, Durham, Culp and youngish players in Luke, Kancey, YaYa, SVD, AWjr, Zyon.
There’s nothing “old” about this roster.
May 6th, 2026 at 9:26 pm
Not to make excuses for Baker because I think he needs to play more consistently, but the Bucs NEVER had their starting 5 OL play a single game together in 2025. Injuries to Evans and Godwin didn’t help that Baker was throwing to 2 rookies in some games. Throw in a OC who wasn’t very good and Baker himself playing hurt..well makes things a little tough.
But the haters don’t see those facts.
Sure every QB deals with injuries, but last year was ridiculous with the amount of injuries.
With a healthy oline, better depth, more time with the young WRs, a better run game with Bucky/Gainwell and an upgrade at OC..Baker should have a really good season.
May 6th, 2026 at 9:29 pm
Cumulative winning percentage for Miami Dolphins opponents between 2023-2025 was .508. For the Bucs opponents it was .498. Dolphins cumulative record in that time period was 26-25 and the Bucs 27-24. Negligible difference in strength of schedule played with the Dolphins having the slightly tougher schedule. Roster wise the Dolphins had 14 pro bowlers in that period and the Bucs had 6, so looks like the Dolphins had the better roster. I’m also pretty sure the Baker/ Bowles haters would probably acknowledge McDaniel as the better coach.
May 6th, 2026 at 9:29 pm
Im in the middle on Baker. Not sure I would rush to extend him. Good stretches and not so good throughout his career. I’d let it play out this year and potentially look to the draft if there isn’t consistently good play with a sprinkle of great here and there.
With that, I’m pulling for him and hope he grabs the MVP and SB MVP.
May 6th, 2026 at 9:30 pm
Ok#99 Big fella…how original. I think you became a fan around…2023. how pathetic it is to masquerade as a fan of a team when your really a Oklahoman and devout follower of the church of baker. Im going to check to see if its a actual, registered religion. I believe its a cult and mental illness.
See, i can tell you who Errict Rhett and Craig Erickson are. I was a fan BEFORE the first Super Bowl. I literally heard someone say the ONLY flaw in his game is he is too selfless and doesnt think to preserve his body.
Come on man!! He’s small, cant read a defense, cant see over the line of scrimmage, inaccurate and is a slow processor. he takes off when his first read isnt WIDE OPEN. its either bombs or dumps.
He’s very limited in terms of size and athleticism and his processing speed is below average. he has a terrible deep ball and cannot play from the pocket-terrible for a 5-10″ guy who after college ran a 4.9 and probably runs a 5 flat. he runs like a pregnant lady about to give birth to twins.
So in you guys world anyone who doesnt think Baker is a stud, super star, blue chip, hof Qb is a idiot and a fan of trask and Winston. The team and future should be built around him-salary cap and draft picks be damned. The 4 off seasons he has been here there has been NO better Qb available-in nearly half a decade the Bucs could not find a better, or younger or more winning Qb.
If you go back to HS there is a term called “opportunity cost”. WHen you blindly and foolishly commit to overmatched journeyman, you deprive the organization and fans the opportunity to know what the team would look like with a different guy under center.
Jimmy Garapolo got SF to a Sb with a double digit 4th qtr lead and a nfc title game in a 3 year span and SF dumped him by the age of 31 and thats despite winning over 70% of his games. They went from Jimmy G to Purdy in 3 years and gave up the farm for lance in between.
Philly was just as ruthless. They went from Foles to Bradford to Wentz to Hurts in a 5 year span- with a second of Foles sprinkled in and you guys want to hold on to Baker forever. Every Qb they got rid of was 27,28 by the time they left. Cant draft a qb or sign a capable, experienced veteran. If baker is that sensitive and his ego that brittle he doesnt need to be here.
Did KC really need mahomes when they traded up for him? No. Alex Smith was 32 and coming off like 7 straight winning seasons when they did that. I loathe, despise this defeatist attitude. I mean so what, we need to keep Baker here as a starter until he decides to retire? All these years we couldn’t have drafted a qb in the 2nd or 3rd round?
SO we need competition at EVERY position except the most important one? We can scrutinize player, starter and coach except Baker. Man gtfoh. I for one want to see what wed look like with some new blood under center. This has not been a fun 3 years.
I think Tua will have a better year but his injury history stops me short of guaranteeing that. I dont think baker will get extended but all that means to me “if” he does is 2027 will be his last season here instead of 2026. The Baker era is mercifully coming to and end and i think it will end after this year. A new coach isnt gonna want that retread.
Its nothing personal. i just know for a 100% fact we cant go anywhere with him. A wildcard win every 4 years isnt good enough. How many times are you going to face a team that lost 5/6 games going into the playoffs?
We are really pinning championship hopes on a undersized, bounced around scrapper? Come on man. 2020 and 2021 wasnt too long ago. SMFH
May 6th, 2026 at 9:31 pm
Baker just loses his accuracy trying to play hurt. Certainly a problem. No sugar coating the end of his season. He sucked.
He is still easily the best QB in the division. The guy had a weak OC last year, his 8th in 8 years! Do you guys understand how brutal that is!? His OL was shifting all season long with terrible guard play by the end.
I think we can give Baker a 8 game pass when our HC/DC has gotten a 2 season pass.
May 6th, 2026 at 9:56 pm
The HATERS will always hate and like the true HATERS they are, will never be swayed to say let’s see what this season produces before we conclude it’s all over! The HATE is so dense that even a Super Bowl win would not dilute the amount of HATE toward Baker! Give it a rest and let the wins and loses fall where they may.
May 6th, 2026 at 10:53 pm
“The Pats got 3 last post season alone”
The year Tua got benched.
From 2021 through 2024 (the years Tua was the Dolphins starting QB all season), the AFC East sent exactly one team to the playoffs – the Bills.) The lone exception was 2023 when Tua’s Fins got slaughtered by the Chiefs in the wildcard round, 26-7. Tua was 20/39 for 199 yards with 1 TD, 1 INT and a QB rating of 63.9.
May 6th, 2026 at 11:00 pm
“Not to make excuses for Baker because I think he needs to play more consistently, but the Bucs NEVER had their starting 5 OL play a single game together in 2025.”
Actually, they never even had four starting offensive linemen play an entire game the 2025 season at their proper positions.
May 6th, 2026 at 11:05 pm
I’ve challenged the Baker bashers here more times than I can count to name ten starting QBs in the NFL who are better than Baker Mayfield. Still not a peep.
Could he be better? Heck yeah! Replacing him with something better will be a whole lot harder than the bashers think and as Seattle proved last year, you can win a Superbowl with a middle of the road QB.
There’s a whole lot way more wrong with the Bucs than the QB. Ask the Bills, Ravens, Chargers, Bengals and Cowboys what a superstar QB has gotten them.

“The guy had a weak OC last year, his 8th in 8 years!”
And this year, he will have his 9th in 9 seasons.
May 6th, 2026 at 11:22 pm
It’s amazing to me that none of these experts that watch more football than I do can’t see the obvious: the team takes on the personality of the HC…plain and simple.
If canales can get his team to buy in more than last season, then maybe they’ll get to 9 wins, maybe not.
The saints….the book is out on Mr Moore….maybe they can get to 8.
The falcons….thats the wild card because he’s never coached that team but he’s done more with less…see Flacco.
Us….we will bottom out at 7 and top out at 9. That’s our head coach. And we do have the better roster.
May 7th, 2026 at 12:00 am
Scotty Mack….learn facts before you speak. AFC East in 2021…..Buffalo/New England. 2022 a d 2023….Buffalo and Miami back to back years. 2025….Buffalo and New England. Yeah bud that’s 4/5 years sending 2 teams in the playoffs s and in 2021 3 WINNING teams. Id still take Tua 2025 over Baker 2022 in Carolina and La lol. You ppl lump Baker in with Darnold,Goff, Herbert and others who are all better. You got this LOON on here talking about Baker is top 10 all time in yards and TD passes. Well Goff must be top 5. And while Goff is much better then Baker, what does that tell you. That’s why ppl say it’s a cult..You guys compare this bum to Brees and Brady and it’s asinine. Like be serious. Bunch of nut jobs and excuse makers. He’s a bum. Distort the truth all you want. He’s a bum.
May 7th, 2026 at 12:30 am
That’s weak Kenton. Baker tied for 10th after 8 seasons with Brady. Well Brad threw like 3 passes as a rookie and that was a different era. But ok. Well how about this…..Herbert needs 35 TD over the next 2 seasons to bump Baker out that spot and Burrow needs 41 over the next 2 years. Either one of those guys could do that in 2026 with a year to spare. Those type atats will always lend themselves to modern era players. All you cult members can point to is volume stats. You know like how Frank Gore is #3 all time in rushing yards? I guess that means he is the 3rd best RB ever right? Don’t stroke out when Herbert and Burrow bump Baker off that. You’re probably going to try sone voodoo and jinx both of them. I out NOTHING past rhe Baker cult
May 7th, 2026 at 12:55 am
Scotty Mack. Here is your challenge. If a QB only draft were to be held, the Earliest Baker would go is #19. And that’s with giving him the nod over Tua, Daniel Jones,Murray,Bryce Young and EVERY QB from the class of 2025-2026 and even Aron Rodgers. The 18 before him: Mahomes,Lamar,Allen, Burrow,Stafford. Goff,Dak, Darnold,Herbert,Hurts,Purdy,Love,Stroud, Lawrence,Jayden Daniels,Nix, Caleb and Drake Maye. Stroud is over 6 years younger and has more playoff wins, Remember you guys tout playoff wins to hype Baker. Love is 3 years younger and bigger with more upside and has as many playoff wins. Lawrence is bigger,4 years younger, has as many winning seasons and MORE 4000 yard seasons. Hurts has more combined wins then Baker. Philly was 4-12 his rookie year btw. He also finished 2nd in MVP his 3rd year.2 SB and a win btw. 3 years younger then Baker. Baker highest MVP finish was 11th. Purdy, 4 years younger, SB and title game. 4th in MVP voting his 2nd year. Like I said, that’s 18 QBs that are no brainers, most of them are multiple years younger with a better resume. Does that answer and explain it? So would you date a 225 pound woman because you felt you couldn’t do any better? Would you be happy making 150k a year because ” it could be worse”….that’s the loser attitude that permeates this fan base to accommodate this loser QB we have had to endure. Are you going to say he threw a costly pick because his mom didn’t breastfeed him long enough? It’s sickening. It’s going to be a ” fan” civil war and I’m all for it You guys need to go back to Oklahoma.
May 7th, 2026 at 1:16 am
Baker is good enough to win with. Sam Darnold whom Baker beat last season in Seattle just won the Super Bowl. The Baker trolls on this website are either fans of other teams or just stupid.
May 7th, 2026 at 1:17 am
BTW, looks like Trask To The Stupid has rebranded.
May 7th, 2026 at 1:18 am
Old WBL sticking true to his form saying Baker throws short to intermediate passes for the purpose of padding his numbers. But the reality is, when Brady was here 3 years his average pass was 7.1 while Bakers 3 years here is 7.3. As I said normal bs. You can’t believe anything WBL says. If it’s the truth he takes it totally out of context and for the rest it’s just not the truth. Busted yet again. Try telling the truth for once WBL. It always catches up with you when you do it as much as you do it…😆
May 7th, 2026 at 1:20 am
Mahomes’ last 3 years is 6.9. How interesting, strike 2. So I guess Mahomes is padding his stats even worse, right WBL??
May 7th, 2026 at 1:28 am
Joe Burrows last 3 years 6.9. Strike 3 and you are out WBL.
As has been said a million times to you haters, what you people claim is Baker only is actually what all qb’s go through but you never learn because you don’t want the truth. You want what you talk about to be the truth but it rarely is. In this case with WBL as we can see it just isn’t…
May 7th, 2026 at 4:01 am
You guys are exhausting which is good because I need sleep.
May 7th, 2026 at 6:24 am
Man every troll and sock puppet is in this thread. The Bucs will win a ton of games this year and perform well in the playoffs barring major injuries to several players in the same position group again. Baker is a phenomenal quarterback and perfectly capable of winning a Super Bowl. Now he’s got a quite better team around him and I look forward to great, positive results. Baker, Bowles and Licht’s haters are short sighted and don’t understand the very real reasons we couldn’t compete last year late in the season. Both starting guards were out and so were their backups. Simple.
May 7th, 2026 at 7:35 am
“Old WBL sticking true to his form saying Baker throws short to intermediate passes for the purpose of padding his numbers.”
“Baker Mayfield had the best season of his career, setting career marks in completions (407), attempts (570), completion rate (71.4%), yards (4,500), and touchdowns (41).
He also ran for a career-high 378 yards with 3 touchdowns.
His 49.4% success rate and 0.17 EPA per dropback were the best of his career.
In his first (and only) season with Liam Coen, there was a more significant emphasis on the short passing game.
After averaging 8.6 air yards per throw in 2023 under Dave Canales, Mayfield averaged 7.0 air yards per pass last season.
His average time to throw was 2.62 seconds from the snap, his fastest since his rookie season.
That area is where there was a divide with Mayfield as a passer this year.
When he threw the ball within 2.5 seconds from the snap, Mayfield completed 77.8% of his passes with 27 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.
When he held the ball longer than that, he completed 63% of his passes with 14 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.”
-Warren Sharp on Baker Mayfields’ 2024 season or the best season if his career
Well, well, well,
Long handoffs padded his stats, that’s why Grizzard sounded like a fool talking about his offense being “more vertical” because talk about asking guys to do things they aren’t consistently good at doing.
If you want, I can link you to every passing chart Joe posted here on this very website to prove my point or quotes from Joe himself, that are pretty funny:
“Joe hasn’t seen a passing chart this nauseating since Joe saw Reggie Ball play quarterback at Georgia Tech.”
“However, the Liam Coen dink-and-dunk offense is still very much in effect for the Bucs, even though Josh Grizzard is calling the plays and Coen is in Jacksonville.”
“This is sort of a Barry Bonds batting average.
In the loss to the Eagles, Baker Mayfield threw past the Liam Coen Line just six times.” The Liam Coen line is anything further than 20 yards
“It may just be a one-off thing, but it appeared Mayfield struggled more over the middle than in any other area of the field against the Patriots.”
Even the Seattle game, Baker throw 13 of his 29 completions behind the LOS.
Well, well, well, you stink at this. Learn more ball, man
May 7th, 2026 at 12:28 pm
WBL, very few read your long winded posts because you can’t tell it factual. Type away but no one can believe anything you say. You say Baker throws short passes only to improve his stats but Mahomes and Brady have thrown for less yards per throw than Baker. Your posts are very misleading. But I am sure they are meant that way… such is the hater
May 7th, 2026 at 12:46 pm
“You say Baker throws short passes only to improve his stats but Mahomes and Brady”
Brady & Mahomes are champions, multiple time MVPS and already have places in Canton.
Baker has you, Kenton, Gipper, and all the get along go along gang that thinks just because he plays the same position as great players, he plays the game comparable to those great players.
You aim high, when you really should be aiming at Blake Bortles, Doug Flutie, & Kevin Kolb.
You suck at this, seriously.
May 7th, 2026 at 2:33 pm
#99 The Big Fella Says:
“3.28.Evans , LynchMob50
You two pencil dicks will act like you never had anything bad to say when the Bucs are winning again.”
Please advise when that will start taking place? Post Todd Bowles is my guess.
10-7 was the high water mark with an OC that should have been immediately given the HC job.
Instead we stuck with Bowels and it will be a minimum of two calendar years before we see another playoff game.
We have been a .500 football team since clueless Todd took over.
But you keep those Pom Poms waiving. It really is working!!!
May 7th, 2026 at 4:51 pm
WBL-wannabe aloser, as usual, you leave out the truthful part, you can’t ever get the facts straight. Just keep spinning it, that is what you are good at, at least to the dummies that know no different. And by the way, Baker has just a few more fans than the 3 you named. But hey, why would you start with the truth this last in the game? In fact, everybody that can judge real talent, which leaves you haters out, loves Baker. We know he can lead us to the superbowl. It’s just a matter of getting the team right. Like it is with every team that makes it there. But what would you know about that, absolutely nothing, obviously. 3 year $150 million. Brace yourselves, all 3 of you loudmouth haters that never played a sport in your entire life. So obvious🤤
May 7th, 2026 at 5:17 pm
How do you know Liam didn’t choose Lawrence over Baker tho??? Outside of Oklahoma anybody would. Lawrence is 6-6 and has just as many winning seasons, one more 4000 yard season and is 4 years younger. Still on his original team. Lawrence has done 2 things Baker never has: won 13 games and finished in the top 10 in MVP voting. While I have my doubts if Lawrence will ever be a MVP caliber/HOF guy Baker 100% will never be as he is 31 and on 4 teams and counting. No Baker led team will win 12-14 games. 3/8 years he made the playoffs and all 3 times it came down to a win or go home type scenario. He is a loser with loser traits. The 3 times he made it he ended his teams seasons with 3 straight incompletions down by 5 with 4 minutes left and 2 turnovers. It’s not that we think Darnold’s,Goffs,Daks,Stroud,Lawrence,Love,Hurts and Purdy are gid tier QBs, they are just better then Baker and have a superior resume and in most cases, years younger. And in every case, taller lol. Here comes Kenton and well, well, well….Baker is the same height as Purdy and hurts. The 2 younger, top 5 MVP finishing QBs lol..But OH, NO! Who will replaced out shirt, scrappy,sub.500 QB. Well you know 28-26. 17-19 outside the NFC south. Offense 23rd and 21st in 2/3 years. One wildcard win in 3 years. Only out scrappy, 31 year old QB can do that. We can’t go.500 or finish with a 20 something ranked offense with anyone else . And what a bargain at 45-50 million lol. Baker was so injured he still had the 4th or 5th best season of his 8 year career. He was so accurate before the ” injury” but his first 3 games he was 61/99-61% which was lower then his season % lol. 615 yards and 6.2 yards per attempt. Yeah, he really dominated lol. Jones, Goff,Dak, Stafford, Maye and others were paying much better. But we were 5-2. Right with a negative point differential. Surprise, surprise Baker first half against the Lions, Rams and Eagles he had UNDER 150 yards combined in those 6 quartered of football..So a guy finished 25th or lower in accuracy 6/8 years and you blame his inaccuracy on a ” injury. Mind you his second best year he was 19th. But you know what. Stafford was under.500 his first 8 years. Baker is tied with Brady for top 10 after 8 years for most TD passes( Burrow and Herbert may bump him off that tie this year with a extra year to spare and Brady threw like 3 passes his rookie year lol) AND Baker has a higher playoff ” passer rating” then ANY QB ever. You know that wacky system that was replaced 2 decades ago? The same system that rates Baker over 22 current HOF QBs and would tell you a journeyman like Jeff Hostetler was better then a HOG from his era like John Elway and on par with Warren moon and Jim Kelly as well and Troy Aikman?? Lol. Maybe Baker will work on his only flaw and stop being so selfless. If he’d accept it,id sign him for 14 years/1.3 billion. That last few years will look like a bargain and he’ll be grossly underpaid. He can play his last season at 45 like his predecessor,Tom Brady. Baker will OWN the Tampa passing records and will finish top 25 all time in yards and TD passes. Despite being a media darling the only thing that will keep him out of Canton is the media bias against him🤔. Along with myself and Rod Munch..We will the new ” title town” and the real ” bay of champions”. If you let him walk you will rue the day!!! Every year Baker will lead the lead in movies, grits and toughs. His is the NFL all time leader in ” dawg” references.. I fear he has a handshake agreement with McVay. McVay has had to suffer with Stafford as he eyes March 2027. Drafting Ty Simpson was a ruse. Baker is the one he truly wants. He craves a shirt, unathletic, inaccurate slow processor with a terrible deep ball. McVay wants to fix a expensive, 32 year old with 130+ starts instead of a moose ke,fixable and cheap young guy. McBay knows turning Baker into the goat will fast track himself into goat territory. The league is on eggshells. Baker is MAD.
May 7th, 2026 at 5:31 pm
I reread and made a error. Against the Rams,Lions AND Eagles he had under 150 yards in 6 quarters..The 3/8 years he made the playoffs it came down to the final game of the season. 2020,2023 and 2024. The only thing more Baker then that is his 2 wildcard wins all the way back in 2020 and 2023 were against PA team entering the playoffs on historic collapses. 2020 Steelers started 11-0. Lost 4/5 and finished 12-4. 2023 Eagles started 10-1 and lost 5/6 to finish 11-6. So I will say this. In the wildcard round if we face a PA team entering the playoffs on a historic level slide, we are a lock under Baker. I meant to say he leads the league in moxies, thoughts and grits every year. I heard Baker has ANOTHER chip on this shoulder and he so mad he might go.500 9-8 again. 4-2 in the division,5-6 outside of it. I know Tua and Murray had bad deals but Baker makes more then Tua,Maye,JD5 and Caleb combined with his 2026 cap#..
May 7th, 2026 at 7:28 pm
Let me rephrase that: Baker cap # is BIGGER then Caleb,Maye, JD5, Bo nix and Tua COMBINED with millions to spare. What were you guys saying about him being underpaid and a ” great value”??? Considering Maye got to a SB on year 2 , Nix got to a title game in year 2, JD5 got a title game year 1- all 3 accomplished something Baker never had and Caleb won a playoff game year 2- Id say they are better bargains with higher ceilings. But , carry on. This is for the ” who will we get to replace him” lol. indy replaced Manning and GB replaced Rodgers. Here in Tampa ppl fret about losing Baker F’n Mayfeild. Good Lord this is mediocre.
May 7th, 2026 at 8:57 pm
BBBB,
Go take your lithium. Your manic posts focusing on Baker are really weird. Certain that medication will help.
May 7th, 2026 at 9:29 pm
Ok Gipper. You’ll enjoy this bedtime story. We are 2-5. As usual, we are trailing 27-7 to the Lions. Hutchinson almost sacks Baker on 3rd&18. Just as he is about to get sacked , Tom Brady voice booms out of the football…..”Arise, Baker Prime Mayfeild”. He gets 5 inches taller and with one hand throws Hutchinson out of the stadium. Then Baker grabs the football and says ” LIGHT OUR DARKEST HOUR”. Baker then leads a improbable come back and we go the rest of the season without a loss, culminating with a SB win.Lavonte David is on the sidelines celebrating after our SB win and says ” I always knew you had potential lad”. The legend of Baker continues. Is that good enough for you Gipper? Have a good night.
May 7th, 2026 at 9:40 pm
Gipper. When LeBron retires I’ll see you at the press conference when he officially gives the moniker of CHOSEN ONE to Baker. Lebron proud and gleeful at the press conference says “I was worried the moniker would be retired with me. I’ll sleep well at night knowing it is in. Akers hands now. I get to live vicariously thru him now”.
May 7th, 2026 at 9:49 pm
Someone has serious OCD on here. Give it up. No matter how much you type, some of us are going to support our quarterback. Like it or not, he’s one of the best talents in the position we’ve had in franchise history. You Baker haters act like we’ve had a bunch of great quarterbacks in our history. That’s just not the case. Even if you won’t support him, just shut up.
May 7th, 2026 at 10:05 pm
Ok, I’ll shut up because you said so. I forgot to mention ” the touch” by Stan Bush will e blaring while Baker tossed Hutchinson out of the stadium. I am trying to sound as ridiculous and INSANE as these staunch Baker supporters. Soyour idiotic logic says, we don’t have a history of great QBs donkeys settle on this mediocre, overrated one. Yeah because Baker would have been Soooo much better in the 2010s in the NFC South when it was the toughest division in football. Good Lord I hope you don’t run your life the way you think this team should be ran.
May 8th, 2026 at 12:35 am
BBBB, this is how I know you have zero reasoning and logic abilities. You act like because Maye doing what he did and by Baker not equalling it, it makes Baker a bad qb. You can’t look at the situation and “realize” Baker went to the worst football organization to probably ever exist in the professional game. Their record was 1-41 before Baker showed up. You just don’t have the mental capacity to look at a situation and see the whole picture. That Maye had one of the best coaches and THE best organization football has ever had. It is amazing that you can’t see that but you obviously can’t. Basically you said Cleveland and New England are equal in all things football. And because you lack this ability you will never see reality. That one is a rock bottom football organization while the other is the pinnacle. You won’t even understand the point I am making. There is no hope that you will ever understand the semi-complex issues that are discussed on this blog because you can’t understand simple issues like, an organizations history of accomplishments vs. failures. Cleveland is failure while New England is the pinnacle of accomplishment. I’m not even going to ask if you get it because I know you don’t. I wouldn’t doubt if this isn’t the problem with all 5 of you haters. You fail to understand the most simple ideas and lump all issues into one category thus never able to solve anything. Chaos just follows you around. Cleveland vs. New England 🤤
Organizations and coaches make ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD if you haven’t figured that one out yet.
May 8th, 2026 at 9:26 am
Well I’m speaking on his abilities and lack there of in his Tampa stint. I don’t know if you get Sunday ticket in your trailer park but Cleveland ranked and starting with the year he got there they loaded up on talent. Your idiotic and reuse lazy takes and narratives. Cleveland was LOADED, especially on offense with in prime pro bowlers. He had some of the best lines in football, had at worse the #2 back in football being backed up by a guy who would have started for 20 teams. You have to count what they did 2 years BEFORE him and not what they did when he got there. Fact is, top to bottom NO QB since he entered the league had had as many in prime PRO BOWLERS on offense. But let’s look at here. 28-26. 17-19 outside the division. 2025 was Baker 4th or 5th best if his weak career. He’s been average here. He is what he is. He has been durable. In 2023 with Canales as OC, and a healthy OL and EVERY skill player starting all 1@7 games and the defense being 7th in scoring defense, Baker was ok. We started 4-7. We ended 9-8 with the 23rd ranked offense. And that was after the offense got hit to close out the year. It was below 23 most of the year. He’s limited and now expensive. Coaching is important but your QB is MORE important. Look at Belichick before and after Brady. Without Brady Belichick has lost 54% of his games. He’s coached 11 non Brady seasons and has a losing record in 8 of them. Andy Reid was a good coach before Mahomes but became a institution after them. Cleveland was inept to by pass 3 younger, bigger (2 HOF/MVP QBs and a SB winner) to take the 4th best QB from that class. A beer belly, short,2x walk on with maturity issues who was 2 years older then the other QBs . Lol. How many teams does he have to get on to be in a ” good situation”. He’s just not that good. Here lazy boy: For all the talk about Cleveland cursed him: his 4 years there he was 29-30. 30-31 if you include the playoffs. The 4 years he left he is 29-32 and 30-34 if you include the playoffs. So his record is actually better in that hellhole Cleveland. He is literally 28-26 here. Below .500 outside the division inna THREE year sample size? Like I said, even Tua is 44-32 with 5 straight winning seasons in the AFC East..See, Darnold is 39-16 with a SB since leaving NY. Stafford proved he was a talented stud that needed a change if scenery as he won a SB year 1 in LA. You out Darnold, Goff or Herbert on this team the last 3 years you would see a different product. Not week 18 showdowns to win the NFC South vs Young and Ridder lol. You don’t understand how historically crappy division this is and we are in the middle of it every year. Haven’t distance ourselves at all..LOl. Stop being a lazy loser and think for yourself. I know you guys aren’t Buc fans because you guys try to hard to excuse his Cleveland days and he’s been gone from there 5 years. Poor Baker having to hand off to a all pro RB backed up by a guy who gets close to a thousand off the bench behind 4 pro bowl/all pro lineman and 2-1000 yard receivers and a 70 catch tight end being coached by a COY winner. I want you to tell.me honestly, what QB int eh last decade had a serious if players like that lol..When he leaves here please go with him. I’m know someone over at One Buc. This is Baker last year shirt if a miracle (for him}. Watch. Screenshot this.
May 8th, 2026 at 8:35 pm
As usual bbbb misses the point. Why figure it out now.. 🤤
May 9th, 2026 at 11:25 am
Of course. Deflect, deflect, deflect. YOU the one who didn’t respond. So he’s a average (in the right situation and circumstances)QB due to a team he left 5 seasons ago? And they actually loaded him up with young offensive talent in their prime? Everyone was in their early to mid 20s on offense. Then like I said, he had a better (still below.500)record on Cleveland the 4 years he was there vs the 4 years he’s been gone. Even here he has played with pro bowlers on offense, the benefit of a historically weak division, his first 2 OC are playoff HC, lines, etc. Like I said, 2023 with Canales as OC and the defense being 7th in scoring, we were 4-7 and got hit to finish 9-8. Got hot to finish with the 23rd ranked offense. The OL was healthy and every skill player started 17 games. And Canales was the OC. Baker at BEST was the 4th best player in that team behind Wirfs, Mike and Winfeild.Mike caught 13 of his 28 TD passes. That’s a unhealthy dependency. Stop with this narrative Baker was this elite,6-4 stud who never got a fair chance. CLEVELAND ranked before he got there. WTF. Most of those images from 1-31 were gone by the time he got there. You don’t really follow football son. Starting with Baker rookie year they spent lien crazy and brought in players. Funny how in Carolina he was 1-5 and the worse ranked QB in the league. PJ Walker was 2-3 and Darnold was 4-2. So the team was 1-5 with you and 6-5 without you?🤔🤔. You know if Baker go somewhere he’s going to look just like the Carolina and Browns version of himself. Below average. Compared to this version which is average. All you guys making a million excuses are kinda proving the point. He is not a force multiplier. He can’t raise or elevate. So WHY pay him 50M a year? He doesn’t win that much (28-26) he’s not 25 or 26 anymore. He has no potential left. If he has to be propped up why not go with a no name, experienced bridge and a rookie. Saves tens of millions off the cap to strengthen the roster. You guys can talk all you want but 50M a year is not chump change.
.
