Adam Schefter: Bucs Plan To Extend Baker Mayfield

May 5th, 2026

“Baker, I’m just saying what I know.”

The Bucs’ official stance on Baker Mayfield is that they love him and he’s firmly in their plans for the future.

But nobody in power at One Buc Palace ever says something like, “We’re working hard to extend his contract” that expires after this season.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, Joe asked Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht if extending Mayfield’s deal is an offseason priority. He wouldn’t say, “Yes.”

NFL super insider Adam Schefter was more firm about Mayfield getting a contract extension when asked during NFL Live on ESPN TV late last week.

“They intend to re-sign him and get that extension done,” Schefter said of the Bucs and Mayfield.

“We’ll see if and when they can get it done, obviously he fell off a little bit at the end of the year last year. And maybe [the contract extension] would have been done sooner if that weren’t the case. But the fact of the matter is, they still believe in Baker Mayfield. They love Baker Mayfield. They want to have Baker Mayfield. And I believe these two sides will get this deal done.”

Keep in mind Schefter is very tight with the folks at One Buc Palace. Schefter even once had Bucs assistant general manager Mike Greenberg as a guest on his podcast. They’re from the same hometown area in New York.

The Buccaneers’ desire to re-sign Mayfield doesn’t surprise Joe. What smart NFL franchise lets a quality, 31-year-old quarterback, a Pro Bowler in 2 of the past 3 season who is well-liked by fans, walk out the door — or enter a contract year with no new deal?

Sign him. The alternative is what the Falcolns have right now.

  2. 813bucboi Says:

IF & WHEN are the key words….

the biggest factor is: obviously he fell off a little bit at the end of the year last year. And maybe [the contract extension] would have been done sooner if that weren’t the case.

if Baker didnt choke in the month of DEC he wouldve been signed….gotta go out and win games in NOV and DEC not just SEPT & OCT

    GO BUCS!!!!

  3. kgh4life Says:

It’s not my money, but i would wait and see how he performs this upcoming season.

  4. Stpetematt Says:

Both guards were out at the end of the season.

    That about covers it.

  5. Rob5 Says:

Have to say Joe..TB must just sit back and laugh at the stuff you guys say about him and his defense..

  6. Nicholas Carlson Says:

Sign him! We love Baker. He can win a Super Bowl.

  7. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

Baker has the Bucs over a barrel $$$$$

  8. Usedtocould Says:

Munch won’t have a happy Mother’s Day. Sad for him.

  9. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

5 years down to the last interception with Jamyth
3 years and a rental Lombardi with Tom Brady
    2 years with Baker
Jason has been skating on thin ice

  10. Truth be Told Says:

let’s get this ‘Born Again” Baker issue resolved before Camp. This guy is a Top 10 Franchise QB that we lucked out falling into our lap. Just imagine for 1 moment how much better Baker will be with an improved Putrid Pass Defense that steps up and can actually get off the field on 3rd downs. Go BUCS!!

  11. Lakeland Says:

The words that gets me…… obviously he fell off a little bit at the end of the year….

A little bit!?? He stunk the field after the bye!!
Baker Mayfield was horrible during the “Great Collapse””
And this guy says the Bucs love him

Love him for what!???? For wetting the bed!??

You have to hold these players accountable
Quit pacifying these garbage players, when they play like trash
There’s no accountability on this team

  12. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

3 year deal, spend a first round pick 2027 or 2028 on a QB for future. Otherwise we’ll have a series of retreads and losers. If Sam Darnold is good enough to win a Super Bowl so is Baker.

  13. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

    Old School
Baker is not going to accept a 3 year deal!
He can easily get a bigger and better deal in the free agent market
Hence the Bucs will have to offer him a market price deal

  14. chad Says:

lakeland.. quit worrying about baker and the offense. if you spent half the time worried about how atrocious the defense was all year as you don’t complaining about baker falling off due to injuries and a make shift line you would be more of a middle of the line fan, instead you just sound like a whiny baker hater who’s gonna have to watch baker for another 3 years start at qb. cry to your momma

  15. ModHairKen Says:

Problem is we have never been told the truth about his injuries last year. Why the secrecy?

It’s irresponsible by the coaches and management.

Sure, there are injury reports. Those are about as honest as a lawyer arguing a case.

But after the season, tell the fans what he was going through. We are the money behind this operation.

  16. chad Says:

sb-lv.. baker has shown that he’s not money hungry, he won’t take a massive deal if it’s detrimental to the team, during the last season he restructured his deal opening up about 14 million in cap space for the bucs.

  17. Obvious Says:

The answer to that last question depends on the type of deal it’s expected to be.

If it’s the same type of deal he signed last time (reasonable) then the franchise would be unwise not to extend him before this season.

If it’s a top of market deal meant to reset the market – only a stupid organization would do that, after last season.

  18. Big_Buc$ Says:

I think the Bucs are in unique situation with Baker. Honestly the whole NFC South is in a similar situation. They all have a QB on the roster to where if he plays good he can move forward with the team but if he doesn’t the team can move on from him. The reason why is if the 2027 QB class hype is real then teams will probably try to set themselves up to pick a QB next year. In Baker’s case you can’t deny he didn’t play well the back end of the season. Regardless if he was hurt he still turned the ball over. Back-to-Back weeks vs Atlanta and Carolina cost the Bucs the game. I wouldn’t be surprised if extended Baker or if they made Baker play out his final year of the contract.

  19. Oscar Says:

They faltered in 2025 after October. In 2023 and 2024, however, they were 12-7 combined in November and December. So Baker apparently doesn’t choke as a rule in November and December as Buboi loves to constantly point out. Naturally he points out only the outlier season of 2025 when there were good reasons for why it happened.

  20. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

    Chad… it’s business
    Baker is leverage
    Baker has pride
Baker has proven himself as a player and a teammate
    The check is due
It’s not “ money hungry “ to expect to be paid market price for his ability.
This will be his first real NFL starting quarterback contract

  21. Lakeland Says:

    The defense stunk last season.
The entire Tampa Bay Bucs organization stunk last season
There should be no glory for any of them
They definitely don’t deserve any praise for wetting the bed
The special teams was garbage, the coaching staff was trash
I’m all for redemption, give them a chance to redeem themselves

But, none of them deserves praise for stinking the field

  22. jimmy Says:

not extending baker before the season would be the stupidest thing the glazers could let happen. it would be even stupider than giving todd an extension before last season for no reason.

  23. MelvinJunior Says:

Given the current landscape including the 2027 NFL Draft AND current state of the Bucs… A VERY Smart One. 💯 You let this season play out. Period. End of Story.

  24. Lakeland Says:

While you at it, throw some praise Bucky way
Praise the offensive line, the secondary
And Hassan Reddick was great also, we love him

  25. Bokeh Says:

Sign him. Git r done soon. No other options. Bucs are a different team this year.
Bakey is our best shot for a great season. It’s not my money so do it!

  26. Defense Rules Says:

Reports on YouTube yesterday had the Bucs offering Baker $150 mil for 3 years, and that it was pretty much ‘a done deal’. We’ll see …

Is Baker worth $50 mil a year? In my mind, that depends on WHICH BAKER we’re talking about, because I continue to see a Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde.

In his first year here (2023), Baker was OK. Not great, not terrible, just OK. He played in all 17 games & we went 9-8. He threw 28 TDs & for 4044 yds, with a 64.3% Completion Percentage ( 364-of-566), and he also ran 62 times for 163 yds & 1 TD (plus 17 first downs). Not great, not terrible, just OK.

But in his second year here (2024), Baker was on-fire. Again he played in all 17 games & we went 10-7. He threw 41 TDs & for 4500 yds, with a 71.4% Completion Percentage ( 407-of-570), and he also ran 60 times for 378 yds & 3 TDs (plus 25 first downs). A great year by all accounts.

Then in his third year here (2025) Baker took a step backwards. Yes he again played in all 17 games, but he shouldn’t have (we went 8-9, and part of the reason is that he was playing injured but shouldn’t have been in there IMO). He threw 26 TDs & for 3693 yds, with a 63.2% Completion Percentage ( 343-of-543), and he also ran 55 times for 382 yds & 1 TD (plus 27 first downs). Not a good year in the BIG PICTURE perspective.

So WHICH BAKER will we be getting if we sign him for 3 more years? Far as I’m concerned, that depends on 2 things. First, the quality of the TEAM we surround him with, and so far I’m liking what I’m seeing (offensively and defensively). Second, injuries. Baker would play hurt even if both his legs were amputated. It’s up to the HC & OC & medical staff to say ‘Sorry Baker, not today’ and plug in our back-up QB. No more of this making the rest of the TEAM compensate for Baker’s injuries.

Would I pay him $150 mil for 3 years? Begrudingly YES (mostly because IMO no player, in any sport, is worth $50 mil a year). Bucs have no one else ready to take the reins, so we’d be buying 3 yrs to fix that. Realistically we have no choice.

  27. ocala Says:

Bucs need to sign him now. A healthy Baker and a healthy offensive line will put up huge number this year(of course they will have to with Todd Bowles defense).

  28. Steve V. Says: Says:

I’d betcha Pittsburgh would take him with open arms! What would the SB odds be on Pittsburgh then! Jus sayn

  29. BigD Says:

Or After June 1, trade Baker to the Steelers. $50 mil a year is a lot to backload given all the other old backloads Licht has on the cap.

  30. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Would I pay him $150 mil for 3 years? Begrudingly YES (mostly because IMO no player, in any sport, is worth $50 mil a year). Bucs have no one else ready to take the reins, so we’d be buying 3 yrs to fix that. Realistically we have no choice.”

We’re in a position to pay for the value of “stability” at the position with a player who’s career screams “inconsistency” from the position. It’s like going to the market and instead of cube steak being priced by it’s value in weight as in “per pound” we’re stuck paying market price for “OK”

Bucs also did themselves no favors getting scrubs at the position to be “back ups”

  31. Sal Volatile Says:

“They intend to re-sign him and get that extension done,” Schefter said of the Bucs and Mayfield.

“We’ll see if and when they can get it done,
    ^^^^^^

That says it all to me. Like I said weeks ago, the owners are playing chicken with Baker. To quote Baker when he signed his 2nd contract ” It’s life changing money.” Baker will not be toyed with.

The Schefter statement sounds like that is what he was told to say by his good friend Greenie.

Don’t be surprised if he asks for a trade.

I don’t believe Evans left just because of Bowles.

  32. buc4evr Says:

Last year was bad for Baker. His O line fell apart proving once again the Bucs do not have very good backups when the starters are out. Griz was a total disaster as an OC. He simply could not adjust from the call sheet. The run game wasn’t there, the WR’s couldn’t get separation because the O line collapsed and there wasn’t time for the routes to develop. (yes I blame Grizz for not adjusting). On top of that Baker got injured. I suspect worse than we know, but the Bucs really had no choice but to play him because Teddy wasn’t going to get it done. I suspect the Offense will be a lot better this year and hope the Bucs lock Baker into a contract now before he becomes too expensive at season’s end.

  33. Bucfan1988 Says:

Not sure whether to extend him now or not??
    That’s the true question here….

Pure garbage guard play really hurt him…
Also couple that with an inept OC that couldn’t adjust to defensive schemes….

I fully expect Bucs offense to be flowing better this year…

Just cut down some on the forced throws for INT’s and we good…

  34. PLawson Says:

I have reviewed the condensed versions of the entire 2025 season as I was curious about the repeated claims of some on this site that Baker played badly in the second half of the year. Maybe they were right, I told myself, maybe Baker suddenly lost the skills he possessed in spades for the previous two years. But that isn’t what I saw. The single biggest reason for the offensive drop-off was the complete collapse of the offensive line in pass protection. Compare the Seahawks game 5, when he had enough time to step into throws, and any game starting with game 12 against the Rams. From that point to the end of the year the offensive line was being blown out so fast that the only consistent offense was generated by Mayfield scrambles out of a non-existent pocket. Even the Cardinals game 13 that the Bucs won was an example of the oline ineptitude, perhaps much of it because of injuries. It’s not easy to look like a Pro Bowl QB when you are running for your life. Bottom line: sign him to the extension and be done with it.

  35. Sooner4ever Says:

No one has mentioned also that most his WR were injured as well. Baker lead the NFL till about week 8 when all the injuries hit. If you don’t sign him now and he balls out he could be playing himself off the team.

Don’t resign Baker, he is in a Rams uniform next season on his way to the Superbowl.

  36. DoooshLaRue Says:

Has upper management consulted the all-time greatest evaluator of football talent, Rodney Munch?

  37. 3.28.Evans Says:

Light needs to wait and see if Mayfield can overcome Bowles Regression Syndrome. Seems highly unlikely. His poor play definitely cost the Bucs games during the Bowles Streak. And Baker plays like he knows he’s gotta put up a 40 burger to have a chance. So. Yeah.

  38. LANshark Says:

PLawson is 100% correct. Just look at the film. Baker was under the gun the entire 2nd half. AT times, the D-line was in his face before he completed his drop.

Then, add in one additional factor. Baker is a gunslinger who never believes he is out of the game – there is ALWAYS a way to win. Given how BAD the defense is, Baker knows it is up to him to win the game. In that situation, he forces throws he would not make if he had ANY confidence in the defense. So, yes, there were late game interceptions (Rod Munch – pay attention here). IF HE THOUGHT THE DEFENSE COULD HOLD AT ALL, HE WOULD NOT BE THROWING THOSE! DUH!

In the past 3 seasons, Baker has thrown more touchdowns than any other QB in the league. AND more interceptions. The past 3 seasons, the DEFENSE HAS SUCKED. There is a direct correlation between these two facts! The year the defense sucked less bad, he threw less interceptions…

  39. Kenton Smith Says:

Ain’t no big dang reason to be in no big dang hurry. Thanks Granddad.

  40. Lakeland Says:

If a QB needs a strong run game, excellent protection, great WR , superb defense
Then he’s just an average Joe Blow
They come a dime a dozen at the dollar store
You don’t have to spend $150 million for one of them

  41. Sal Volatile Says:

By not making Coen HC the owners have made the organization out of sync. Robinson is an uncertainty at OC and as a potential HC. Bowles is as unpopular with the fans as it gets and perhaps with the players as well. He has 2 years left on his contract. Baker is a franchise QB but with only one year left. Both the defense and offense are in an unpredictable position. With all the talent and Bowles history it doesn’t seem unreasonable to forecast 8 wins maybe 9 with lots of luck and a favorable schedule. But I wouldn’t count on it. There is just too much uncertainty surrounding the house of cards. Just one little thing and it all falls down and Baker must see that. The owners see that as well. I can see them taking a first round pick for Baker and bring in Jimmy G. Perhaps they are maneuvering and hoping Baker will ask for a trade so they can make him out to be the bad guy. Those circumstances would facilitate the 2027 reset.

  42. Kenton Smith Says:

“An average Joe Blow?” Gonna have to disagree with you on that one, Lakeland. I will say that when a QB leads a team to a losing season he won’t have a long career. So you can hold out hope for another losing season, Lakeland.

  43. Lokog Says:

Baker carr is not a winner he’s proven that already yea he plays with heart but against a good defense he sucks big time

  44. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“In that situation, he forces throws he would not make if he had ANY confidence in the defense. So, yes, there were late game interceptions (Rod Munch – pay attention here). IF HE THOUGHT THE DEFENSE COULD HOLD AT ALL, HE WOULD NOT BE THROWING THOSE! DUH!”

This is how you maniacs absolve Mayfield from making poor decisions, poor throws, which result in poor plays.

The conviction you make this silly statement with makes it even sillier.

  45. Steve V. Says: Says:

Like Payton left for Denver like Brady left for tampa ..Your turn baker go to Pitt! How could you not wanna play for that defense!! Baker to Metkaf!!

  46. Marine Buc Says:

I’m fine with the Bucs signing Baker to another deal.

However – if they plan on winning any play-off games then we need to have a top 5 defense and a top 5 running game.

  47. Lakeland Says:

    Kenton Smith

    I’m pulling for Baker, l hope he’s 1st team All-Pro in 2026
But, l know it’s only achievable with a run game, great defense, excellent protection
I think we can get a top defense, great pass protection, and a strong run game

I’m just being realistic, I’m not hating

  48. Mobucs Says:

Some note that Baker has been “inconsistent.” I note that his career has had many ups, punctuated by a few downs, usually related to injuries and weak teams. He has always come back from the lows. It’s called resilience. He is coming off a low. Watch out! If the Bucs let him play the season unextended, he’d be justified in pulling a Mike Evans. As for the $50 mil, you’re going to have to pay that for a good QB. Who are your options?

  49. infomeplease Says:

$50 M per season on a 3 year deal sounds about right. IMHO.

  50. Sal Volatile Says:

    I have my suspicions.

  51. Sal Volatile Says:

It seems some things just can’t be said.

  52. infomeplease Says:

    Cont. … assuming the Buc’s have a built in out. Perhaps 50 M guaranteed on a 3 yr 50 M deal.

  53. Bucblind II Says:

Lokog says Baker sucks against good defenses. Wow, because I thought he beat the 2 best defenses last year in last minute drives that you haters said he couldn’t do. Seattle and Houston. Thumped them both. But Lokog says he sucks against those good defenses. Normal bs.

  54. Lightningvinny1 Says:

I was hoping 45 mil but if 50 is the market then do it ,,,, There is no other option ,, You have to extend as if you don’t and he plays well then he is absolutely gone! Show some loyalty and he will as well and maybe we can get that hometown discount 4 year for $160 or 170!

  55. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Lokog says Baker sucks against good defenses. Wow, because I thought he beat the 2 best defenses last year in last minute drives that you haters said he couldn’t do. Seattle and Houston.”

Hmm, but got locked up by a bunch of reserves in Detroit:

    • There was Erick Hallett, a 2023 sixth-rounder, drafted by the Jaguars. He’s spent the past two seasons on the Lions’ practice squad and got the start at safety, next to Thomas Harper, a UDFA out of Oklahoma State in 2024 who was claimed off waivers after cutdown day.

    • Arthur Maulet, who’s been a part of seven organizations since he entered the league as a UDFA in 2017, got the nod at nickel, after joining the Lions two weeks prior.

    • At cornerback, there was Rock Ya-Sin, CB5 when training camp began, playing on his fifth team in five years.

    • His backup was Nick Whiteside II, an Auburn Hills, Mich., native who’s spent more time with the St. Louis Battlehawks than the Detroit Lions.

“Their impact on this game, for a team that needed each and every one of their contributions, was monumental. You wouldn’t know the Lions were missing their entire secondary. They made play after play when challenged. They frustrated Mayfield and this Bucs offense, while picking up their own.”

    Inconsistent.

  56. Dom Says:

Major mistake imo not letting him play out this year. I don’t think its good business to pay top money for an average to above average QB that gets hurt every year, and when he does get hurt he toughs it out but plays like one of the worst QB’s in the league

  57. Beeej Says:

Against Seattle, dude was 29-33 for 379 and 2 tuddies. Am I to believe he suddenly forgot how to DO that in the last half of the season?

Excluding Brady, WHO was our last serviceable QB before Baker? Brad Johnson is the only one I can think of. How many have the Jets gone thru trying to find a decent one? Colts? Cleveland? Dolphins? Cards?

You have to kiss a LOT of frogs before you find your prince. Baker is, at the very least, on the top 50% of QB’s in the league, and we don’t even have one in the pipeline

  58. Kenton Smith Says:

Dom. Why don’t you try getting real? Really. It’s the coaches decision who is playing and who is not. Period.

  59. Steve V. Says: Says:

He doesn’t have to stay in Tampa, Hes earned a spot on any teams roster ..I dont know the thinking of some of these so called “fans” I know who ive been watching the last few seasons and enjoy watching him …Hes a player !
    .

  60. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

And yet here we are 4 months after the season with no deal. It’s not that complicated nor is it s market shattering deal. Free agency came and went. The draft as well. The analytics department and business side at One Buc PL is screaming for a rebuild. The analytics on Baker,Bowles and the team scream for a rebuild/retooling. Plus, let’s be honest having Baker at QB will limit your choices at HC. Not very HC/OC will want a short, inaccurate, journeyman who can’t see over the line of scrimmage or play from the pocket, especially at 50M.Therr were some guys with worse contracts but those teams try hard to get out of them. In cases like Tua and Murray they were young guys with early success and the teams paid them based off potential for their 2nd contract. Let’s be for real. The team didn’t let Liam walk out the door. Liam decided he was better off with Lawrence over Baker in a tougher division. He definitely looks like he made the right move. Mike McDaneils chose to be the OC of Herbert in LA over being the OC here with Baker. You guys are nuts if you think Evans didn’t choose Purdy over Baker. He gushed over Purdy and in 2 months he has not said a word about Baker. But Mike was sure to tell his agent ” tell the fans the WR ROOM is great”. Read between the lines….you got the ammo it just depends on who firing. All of this ” we’ll get it done” is a diversion. Stevie Wonder can see thru this. In 2026 is it REALLY that hard to give a 3 yr/150M deal to your QB? Didn’t Seattle just won the SB with one of the worse OL in football? Even the defense gave up 27 points and 500 yards in the title game and Darnold had outduel Stafford to get to the SB and he did. You guys can stop with the Darnold vs Baker talk. That ship has sailed. Darnold is on a different level. 2 years younger and bigger with a superior resume. 32/32 GMs would take Darnold in a heartbeat. Darnold kind of makes the point clearer. Basically the same team Geno Smith was winning 9-10 games with as he played well (on paper) and all they really did was trade Darnold for Geno and BOOM. SB champs. Not knowing who is behind door #2 is a dumb reason not to attempt the QB room. It’s not like we were winning 13-14 games under Baker and just went 8-9. Top tier items like SF and Philly wouldnt have signed Baker in the first place and they surely would not have committed to him for 3-4 years lol .Learn the term opportunity cost folks. In a division with Tyler Schough, Tua/Penix and Bryce Young you can afford to gamble at the QB spot. The worse division since at least realignment with a hero ball, 31 year old retread is the PERFECT time to plan for the future. Offense has been 21st and 23rd in 2/3 years. 19th ranked defense,21st ranked offense. The Bears had the 29th ranked defense. Look at them lol at us. This head coach/QB is below .500 outside the division the last 3 years. Let me know when this ” extension” gets done. I’ll believe it when I see it.n

  61. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Against Seattle, dude was 29-33 for 379 and 2 tuddies. Am I to believe he suddenly forgot how to DO that in the last half of the season?”

We played Detroit a 2 weeks later and a secondary full of reserves put Baker and our offense on ice to the tune of 9 points.

Went from a QB rating of 134.7 against Seattle, to 66.1 points in 2 weeks. Followed that game up with another pedestrian showing in New Orleans.

I like how some of you guys like pointing out outliers to ignore the mean. You talk as if the Baker you got in Green Bay in ’23 or in Seattle ’25 is the same Baker you get week in and out, then turn to scoff at someone like me saying he’s inconsistent when that’s what his career looks like on a game-to-game basis.

The Glazers will pay him, but this is also the same ownership group that got behind Josh Freeman, drafted Mike Glennon, and spent free agent monies on the likes of Josh McCown and Ryan Fitzpatrick. Don’t get me started on Simms & Jeff G

  62. Get-Rid-of-Licht Says:

Baker is pretty good – not elite but very good – he also has an injury history and exposes himself to injury frequently – why not see if he can make it through 2026 without injury ? extending him now will save $10 million / year ? is that important in the long run ? 2027 is a good draft year and there will be both FAs and rookies available if necessary – sure it’s good to have continuity for building a team but every JBF squawker screams that the Bucs are always just a QB away from glory just as in 2019 – is Baker “the guy” ? paying an extra 10 mill to find out in 2026 seems prudent

  63. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

WBL…..because he is a experienced, veteran and a journeyman. He’s Ryan Fitzpatrick. Except Fitzpatrick is tall and was a 7th Rd pick. I remember one year Fitzpatrick started out with Buffalo like 4-0 and was throwing for 300 yards and 3-4 TD. Beat Brady head to head in a shootout. He was getting MVP talk. Then he came down to earth. He went on a hot streak here. I’m not even sure Baker is the best QB in the division. Tua is 44-32 in his career. 3 years younger then Baker and Atlanta has weapons and a 43 year old HC who was COY twice by the age of 41. Tua has a better record then the Tampa version of Baker. Screenshot it. I’m calling it now. Look at his per game and accuracy metrics vs Baker.’s.

  64. Oneilbuc Says:

If they resign Baker Mayfield we will be the Detroit Lions good defense weapons on the offensive side of the ball . And with a good o line and running game but they’re quarterback can’t get them over the hump even with all of that. Again what’s going to happen when it’s 24 -20 in the playoffs and we have the ball with 2 minutes left ? And we have a quarterback that has never came through in situation like that and games like that!! Baker had a super team in OKLAHOMA and he still couldn’t win or go to a championship. He’s had good teams in the NFL and couldn’t win with them even in Cleveland.

  65. Rod Munch Says:

Great way to reward a guy who singlehandedly cost you the playoffs, got his entire offensive staff fired, and ran off a HOF WR and is 2-9 in prime time and playoff games since he got here. I’m sure it will work out fantastic!

  66. Steve V. Says: Says:

  67. Oneilbuc Says:

Steve. You do like good franchises do you draft a quarterback y’all trip me out with that if not Baker then who . The bucs will not win or go to a Superbowl with Baker Mayfield and I hope I’m wrong. But if they resign him because this is a bunch of speculation I’ve never seen a franchise who really believes in a quarterback or any player wait this long to resign a them. But if they do it’s NFC Championship or bust no more excuses and the injury excuse ain’t going to work this time if he’s on the field.

Some note that Baker has been “inconsistent.” …It’s called resilience.

Pō-tə-tō, Pō-TAH-tō. Come on man, spin your yarn the best you can so you remain right in your own mind. Ridiculous argument. Great every other yr is called INCONSISTENT. The fact that he doesn’t give up and run away crying is RESILIENCE.

  69. Sal Volatile Says:

There’s no reason for my comment not to have cleared by now. Therefore I must assume I am on to something.

New headline coming; Mayfield leaves Tampa for 1st round pick in 2027.

  71. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Who you Einsteins trading for,if he goes you’ll still have something to wine about!”

You guys ask this question in response to Baker being scrutinizied like we’re trying to replace prime-Tom Brady/Drew Brees/Peyton Manning/AAron Rodgers, you know what kept them active so long? a consistent level of high play.

so you have to cite the Seattle game, because it stands out amongst the majority of games played, yet for any of the QBs mentioned it’d just be week 5 to them

  72. stvcl Says:

The only fault I find with Baker is that he’ll play hurt, even to the detriment of his team. I love his heart but I a couple weeks off, allowing yourself the heal a bit, could be the difference in making the playoffs or watching them from your couch. The team doctors and trainers need to recognize this as well.

Can anyone envision the Bucs doing that ?

Yes, there’s clearly a plot against you!

Which is why I can read 10 comments from you about how you’ve been silenced.

    LOL!

  77. Geno712 Says:

I’d go 4 years and 195 million for Baker. It gives him elite earnings for his career, and it gives Bucs options.

Similar to when we signed him, he is worth paying less than top dollar so you can get other talent in the door.

Lots of ways to build a Super Bowl team. That includes both with Baker and without Baker.

If he wants elite QB money than let him walk. If we get a decent deal like last time (what was it 33 million per year) than ok to sign him.

  78. Sal Volatile Says:

Rod you now have 2 more opportunities to laugh at me. When you see them.

    Skepticism is a noble trait.

  80. Kenton Smith Says:

First 8 years in the NFL. Touchdown passes. Mayfield 197. Brady 197. Lamar 187. Stafford 187. Goff 185. Eli Manning 185. Cam Newton 182. Jim Kelly 179. Aaron Rodgers 171. Drew Brees 168. Ben Rothlesberger 165. Tom Brady and Baker Mayfield are tied for 9th place in TD passes in their first 8 years in the league. Baker isn’t signed yet? I bet my a$$ he’s not even in the least bit concerned.

  81. oz len Says:

The anti-Baker comments are good entertainment for offseason reading. Thanks guys! I’ve asked before but none of you Pro-Bowl fans have answered. If Mayfield is so bad, who do you replace him with? Come on, name one of those quarterbacks that changed teams this year that would be an upgrade. Cousins, Willis, Tua? Who? And you got to suck for 2 or 3 years to draft one. So come on Rod and Rodettes. Let’s hear some names.

  82. Kenton Smith Says:

Oh yeah. You lifelong fans. Baker is about to punk, with a capital P, every QB record in Bucs history. In an efficient, deadly manner. You guys are comical. Really.

“First 8 years in the NFL. Touchdown passes. Mayfield 197. Brady 197. Lamar 187. Stafford 187. Goff 185.”

Brady & Stafford played their first 8 years with 16 game schedules.

Goff played his first 5 years in the league on 16 game schedule.

Baker & Jacksons’ first 3 years started on 16 games schedules and they’ve been playing a 17 game schedule the last 5 seasons or since 2021. Lamar only started 7 games his rookie year.

You’ve got to be quicker than this Kenton, seriously.

  85. Btafelski Says:

I want to see post Mike Evans Baker. We no longer have one of the all time great 50/50 ball receivers bailing out high throws.

  86. 813bucboi Says:

    Bucs can extend Baker…

He’ll play out this season on his current deal, and the first year of the new contract will be guaranteed(2027) …and if he chokes (AGAIN) the BUCS can dump him at the end of 2027

    GO BUCS!!!!

Sal, there are more comments by you than anyone else on this post, haha. Patience…

  89. Rocket10 Says:

Clearly they are not committed to Mayfield but would sign an extension with a team friendly deal, so it’s up to Mayfield’s camp, that’s why it’s called negotiations
He can play out contract and gamble on big payday ( crazy) or sign a compromise deal. I’m sure his agent has had behind the scenes conversations with other teams gauging interest that should affect their bargaining stance

  90. Kenton Smith Says:

The Browns have lost more games than any NFL franchise the last 20 years. The Bucs franchise has lost more games than 25 other NFL franchise in the last 20 years. Baker Mayfield turned the tide with 2 of the sorriest teams in league history. One goat defense and one goat QB. If not for that, Tampa is in the same cesspool as the Browns. The franchise has as much respect as it’s ever had. Right now. Baker should, and does, get alot of credit for that.

  91. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Baker Mayfield turned the tide with 2 of the sorriest teams in league history.”

LMAO, you’re talking like he’s the best player on our offense or came to a team that was void of talent. Neither is true, and BA had more impact on this team in’19 alone than Mayfield has had his entire time playing here, being that we’ve done nothing special with him at QB. Stop it.

“The franchise has as much respect as it’s ever had. Right now”

So much respect our longest tenured offensive player and future HOFer decided to leave to play two time zones away and get taxed to oblivion, to play on an offense that actually “threatens” defenses. That’s the word Evans used as far as his potential with Brock Purdy and Shanahan.

  92. Obvious Says:

A three year contract is very reasonable, especially if you can get out after two.

I don’t think there is any reason not to do that deal if it’s a real possibility.

It gives you security at the position and allows you to pivot in the draft if you find yourself staring at potential game chamber candidate at the position.

Even if Todd is fired after the season it’s unlikely the new coach finds a better option for the first year.

  93. Steven007 Says:

Man, the Baker haters really despise the guy. Usually offering no real alternative. He’s in the upper half of starting QBs in the league. Look around. So many teams with terrible quarterbacks. Few truly elite ones. And those with the elite quarterbacks haven’t necessarily gotten it done. Personally, I think Josh Allen is the most talented QB in the league. Right now. Him and his franchise have less championships than we do. And he doesn’t have many more playoff wins than Baker either. Herbert? Donut. Purdy? You know. Rogers hasn’t been relevant in a decade. Clearly we have the best Quarterback in the division. Lots of positive tinkering on the defense and what looks to be a solid draft. Second place schedule instead of the division winning schedule. If the offensive line stays healthy, and Baker as well, he will perform as he has historically. If the defense is 10 to 20% better, we’re going to win more games. The special teams have been abysmal but almost certainly won’t this year. Another winter too. I’m always glass half full when it comes to my team so we’ll see what happens.. just don’t understand. Hating your quarterback. I wasn’t a jameis fan but I always hoped he would be incredible. Seem silly to b!tch about something that isn’t going to change and seemingly hoping for the worst to maintain your narrative. Would hate to live that way.

  94. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Seem silly to b!tch about something that isn’t going to change and seemingly hoping for the worst to maintain your narrative”

So not falling in line with who the QB is and supporting him no matter what isn’t a narrative? Soft.

You guys call “b*tching” pointing out where our QB struggles, and the best you can come up with is calling it a narrative or asking who can we get to replace him.

Browns replaced him with like 4-5 QBs.
Panthers replaced him with Bryce Young.
Rams never really needed him, but because he’s in Tampa he’s above critique/scrutiny?

If his played garnered that, then it’d be the case, but sad truth is you guys like Baker as much as you dislike Bowles, and it hurts you hearts to hear anything that opposes either viewpoint. We all know how much we like hearing things at human beings that challenges our biases lol

  98. 813bucboi Says:

  101. Fanofdabucs Says:

This “report” tells us nothing we didn’t already know.

I swear these insiders have mastered the art of talking and sounding like they’re saying something news breaking, but it’s just babbling.

We knew the Bucs love Baker. We know they will try to re-sign him IF he plays well this season. This says nothing about them extending him before the season. And smartly so

  102. Lakeland Says:

    “””He ain’t no Tom Brady””*

  103. LynchMob50 Says:

Baker will never amount to a steaming pile of cow dung.

  104. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

Kenton with the good ole “cherry pick” lol. So after 8 years baker has more td passes then Goff. Funny tho, Goff first 8 years he had 4 seasons of 4400 yards or more, 4 playoff runs, 3 double digit winning seasons, A Superbowl and 2 nfc title games.

Funny, Goff is only 6 months older then Baker but has accomplished so much more. Reccord after 8 years: Goff-66-48-1. Baker is 58-62 and the Rams and Lions were terrible when he first got there. Also, post season wins: Baker 2-Goff(5). We can do this all day long.

If baker had 75% of the career Goff had you cult members would be trying to get him into canton as a active player lol. Goff is top 3 in yards and tds since he entered the leauge, NOT THE LAST 3 YEARS.

For every cherry picked stat you guys have I can produce 5 that are damning. His win % is below leauge AVERAGE when he has to throw 35x or more, 40x or more, when his defense gives up 20-27 points. last year, the 4th or 5th best of his career lol. Funny last year the team was 7-1 when he didnt throw a pick and 1-8 when he did.

How many times late last year did he turn the ball over and the opposition took over in our territory??? Who to bring in? Another veteran, a rookie after rd 1. The fact Licht has not drafted a Qb in 5 drafts is irresponsible. All this to nurture Baker’s brittle ego?

Tb is the ONLY team that would give Baker 4 years. We are married to the town whore. Carson wentz had a good one year in Indy and they canned him. its no garauntee the guy you replace him with will have better results or be better, but we KNOW for a fact Baker wont get us there.

Who knows, the division might improve. Wasnt a big Winston fan but this team and Baker would have been awful in that 2015-2019 era. Baker is only here because this is the worse division in the worse stretch since realignment.

  105. HeavyE Says:

@ ByeBaker ByeBowels! That is an Excellent Analysis! The numbers don’t Lie!

  106. Teacherman Says:

He should be like Brady and sign a team friendly deal.

Brady was a genius. He never wanted a “Joe Flacco” type deal.

Flacco’s deal destroyed the Ravens for YEARS after he won the Super Bowl.

Tom Brady was the man. He always signed reasonable deals so his TEAM would be solid.

Baker needs to do the same.

A mid level starter contract for 3 years with lots of guaranteed money.

  107. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

No. He can leave. You can draft a Qb (presumably in rd 1) in the first 3 rounds and sign a veteran or 2 and still save tens of millions on your cap. You can hedge on the Qb position. If you hit on the rookie, you struck gold. If you wiff like the 49ers did on Trey Lance, it doesn’t have to capsize your franchise.

You guys have talked yourselves into thinking 45-50 M a year for baker is a bargain when it isn’t. Its all but written in stone if you wont get to a title game or a 13 win regular season. If you are expecting this guy to turn into Stafford and magically become elite in his 30s, your being disingenuous or plain out foolish.

  108. Red86 Says:

This article is misleading. Context is missing.

Baker Mayfield only made the Pro Bowl because multiple QBs that won the voting were either in the Superbowl or they declined to play in the game. Never once was Baker the number one choice in the Pro Bowl. Even Jameis made the Pro Bowl the same way. Is it an honor to make it the Pro Bowl? Yes. So few make it there including myself. It’s the how that matters. Had the other Qbs been required to go, then Baker wouldn’t be a Pro Bowler.

It would be dumb to commit a lot of money to an inconsistent player of any position. The QB is supposed to be the leader of the team. Get the praise and blame whether they deserve it or not. There’s multiple lapses in his “leadership” throughout his whole time here. There been times the defense hold a team below 21 points only for the “leader” not being able to score 21 points or more. Too many costly misreads, holding the ball too long, fumbles, and ints, since he started playing in Tampa, lead to winnable game being losses.

Contract of the size of these rumor should be reserved for players that Either the first or second choice of Pro Bowlers, not third, fourth, and fifth options on the Pro Bowl list. That money should be used on the O and D Line, as well as running back. Then get almost anyone as Quarterback on a nearly completed team. Tom Brady understood taking less money to build the team, which lead to his historic Super Bowls finalist and winner. Tom won with us because we had everything else, CAP SPACE, and etc in order except Quarterback. Losing franchises have giant contracts locked on to a few guys and the rest of the team sucks. Make Baker prove he’s worth it. We have a history of player getting lazy after pay day.

  109. What it is Says:

They will give him a big fat contract because NO BODY plays better in the playoffs. 106.5 career playoff passer rating. The highest out of ALL QUARTERBACKS. And he has never played for a great team or a great coach. But Baker still has the best play out of ALL quarterbacks current and past. That is why they will pay him. When big money is on the line Baker Mayfield plays better than anyone. Better than Mahomes and Brady. They just happen to be on great teams with great coaches. If Baker ever gets both he will dominate.

  110. JohnQCitizen Says:

    Pay him!

  111. Bucblind II Says:

Baker killed the best defenses this year, even without his starting line. Killed them. Drove up and down the field in the last minute for the win. Give him protection and we will be killing it. Just like when he took Cleveland from 41-1 to the playoffs and beat mahomes the year they went to the superbowl. No one has ever taken a team as bad as Cleveland and in 3 years was beating a superbowl contender. No one

  112. Bucs ehh Says:

If I were Baker I would go to Pittsburg. Get into a great organization and dominate the league.

  113. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

What it is…GTFOH!! Passer rating was replaced by Qbr 2 decades ago. And this journeyman has only played in 5 playoff games lol. He’s garbage. So the reason “passer rating” was replaced because journeymen/fringe starters had a higher passer rating then pro bowl/mvp/hof caliber type guys.

A guy like Jeff Hostetler had a higher passer rating then John Elway- their entire careers overlapped and his “passer rating” was on par with HOF guys from his era like Kelly and Warren Moon. I believe troy Aikman as well. Bad take my man.

So im guessing baker had a higher “passer rating” then jayden Daneils when Daneils came here on the road as a rookie and Daneils B-slapped baker on the road with a inferior roster and a worse defense?

Nobody is better??? In Cleveland the ONE time he got to the playoffs he ended their season with 3 straight incompletions down by 5 late in the 4th. The 2 times we went to the playoffs here he ended our season with a turnover. Just like the last Falcons game, anything other then a turnover you beat the Commanders.

And this is what your hyping up? A guy that has played with several all pro and pro bowl lineman, several productive wideouts, pro bowl tight ends and he’s had rbs like nick chubb, kareem hunt, CMC and Bucky. What Qb has played with more “in prime” pro bowlers and all pros then baker since he entered the leauge? Ill save you some time..NOBODY. I already looke it up last year.

You MUST be trolling. No way you can feel this way. Since we going off passer rating lol, Baker has a higher “passer rating” then 22 current HOF qbs including marino and favre. see how worthless that replaces stat is.

The only recoed baker will break is number of teams as he will bounce around

  114. Kenton Smith Says:

What it is. JohnQCitizen. Bucblind II. I will have to say. All three of you just went back to back to back. If any of you three guys aren’t familiar with baseball jargon, back to back to back is excellent. It’s better than back to back. Kudos, Gentleman.

  115. TruckerBuc Says:

Pay him. I’m convinced last year was a dud. Dude has shown enough. I think he’ll ball out this season if he has a run game and a decent OC. Bake got banged up trying to carry the team running for his life. If he has a great season, we’ll be on the hook for a bigger payday.

  116. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

Bucblind: you must be just that because Baker has NEVER beat Mahomes in the NFL lol. And I know you know that. Stop posting that garbage cult member.

  117. exBrowns02 Says:

The Antibakes put in a super effort today. I’m talking before 8:00 AM to 9:30 PM. A lot of material here! I’m impressed! If only you could actually make money with your efforts.

For your sake: rest up and restore as you’re likely going to experience some distress when Mayfield’s extension is announced.

The majority of us would like to see you go away, but I’m thinking that the same majority would not like to see you suffer a life-threatening event.

    Be well Brothers!

    Go Baker! Go Bucs!!

  118. Bucblind II Says:

BBBB, oh yes he he did. The refs had to make the worst no call in the history of the game for the score not to reflect it but he did beat him. Heck, Mahomes even knows Baker beat him with a team, Cleveland, that hadnt won a game in 2 years before Baker showed up. Helmet to helmet causing a touchdown to be taken away. He beat him and anyone that knows football knows he beat him. And if our head coach would have had a little intestinal fortitude and went for 2 in 2024 Monday night game he would have beat him a second time just like he did in college. I’d rather be a cult member than an idiot bbbb or should I say Munch.

  119. Bucblind II Says:

As I said bbbb you are an idiot. The NFL doesn’t even recognize ESPN’SQBR. And just so you know, because I know you don’t, the reason they refuse to use it is due to the fact that ESPN hides their formula. No one knows how they get their numbers. As I said idiot.

  120. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

So your counting 2 losses as WINS and I’M the idiot??? And don’t worry, you are a full cult member. And no, Munch is t the only one who thinks Baker sucks. I don’t think,I KNOW. As does the FO lol. He is garbage and a loser with loser traits and tendencies. He couldn’t even beat Mahomes in a game Mahomes basically played a half in lol. Not sure why you keep trying to lump them together when Mahomes has more talent in his pinky then Baker has in his entire munchkin little body lol..

  121. What it is Says:

ExBrown, just so everyone knows all the haters here are really 3 lonely guys that have nothing else to do with their time because they have ran everyone off in their life just like they do here. Like Bucblind II says, BBBB is Munch. The people that like BM6 are far more numerous than the 3 haters.

  122. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

Whatever makes you feel better about blindly supporting a 31 year old journeyman ” scrapper”. Keep telling your self he has far more supporters then detractors if that helps you sleep at night. You have your believers, non believers and and the ones who are skeptical but support him because he’s the QB. I absolutely do want him to continue to fail and b who he is so we can jettison his ” tail” outta here. He’s garbage and overrated. Cue the excuses and ppl to blame for his 2026.

  123. What it is Says:

WBL, I am glad to see you admitted Baker beat the 2 best defenses with last minute drives. Because you and the 2 other haters said he couldn’t do that to the good defenses. So as usual he went out and did it to the 2 best defenses. Proving you 3 wrong again.

  124. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

I like how you Cult members gloss over that 12/21 for 65 yards,0td,1int in the first half vs Philly as we were down 24-6@half. Or the blowouts against the Rams and Lions when he threw for 40 yards at the half in both games. Buffalo he wasn’t hurt …16/28 for 170 yards,1 TD and 1 int. Of course a pick where Buffalo takes over at our 25 when we had the lead. So he best Darnold but loss to Quinn Ewers. Got it

  125. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

Detroit wasn’t a top defense and the had alot of injuries. We lost 24-9. Baker was 28/50 for 228 yards and that was after getting hot in the 4th against a prevent defense. He had 40 yards at the half. Continue to cherry pick certain state and certain games. Your a OU fan and Baker Dan. Not Baker fan. He’ll be a backup in 2 years.

  126. Well well well Says:

Think about this for a moment…
If Baker beat the 2 best defenses without his starting line, what would he do to them with a top 5 OL. You know, the kind of line Mahomes has always played behind. I’ll tell you how he would do, he would dominate, totally dominate. Bakers arm is as strong as any in the league. Owns the longest throw in a game, right at 75 yards. One of a few that threw it 60+ mph in the combine. He has led the league in accuracy. His ability to evade a tackle is elite. His ability to throw on the run is next level. BM6 just needs to be complimented with good players around him as all qb need and when he gets the right combination he will win a superbowl with his career playoff passer rating. Mark it down.

  127. Oneilbuc Says:

What it is. No he didn’t David caught a int that won the Seahawks game. And talking about week 4 and 5 is good . But what happened against the Saints, Panthers and Dolphins 3 trash teams. And 3rd and 28 don’t happen if Baker don’t throw a pick and missing Payne Durham wide open the next drive that would have closed out that game and he had time to throw the ball. And not to mention he had Otton wide open right in front of him but he can’t see over the line. Baker lost his job to Sam Donald in Carolina and got cut with the Rams and Cleveland and the bucs fan base and HC are the only ones who think he’s a franchise quarterback 😂. Well not real bucs fans it’s a few of them who think so but the rest of y’all are OU and Browns fans . Baker Mayfield is mind is still stuck in college and with a great team in Oklahoma he still couldn’t go or win a national championship. If the bucs resign him they will not win or go to a Superbowl and I hope I’m wrong about that but I don’t see it regardless how good the defense plays or healthy the team is.

  128. Bucblind II Says:

Bbbb, you can do all the yah yahing you want but he beat the best defenses, period. Beat them both down!! Seattle and Houston

  129. What it is Says:

I agree with Bucblind, Baker beat Mahomes in 2021. And if we would have went for 2 he would have beat him again on Monday night in 2024.

  130. What it is Says:

Oneilbuc, Did David manufacture the last minute drive that put us ahead of Seattle? No I’m quite sure that was Baker. He did that like 5 times last year and none was qb’d by David. Baker owned all the great defenses last year. After he was hurt 8 times that was another matter. If we had a good HC we would of had a good backup and Baker could have taken off and healed up but we don’t.

  131. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    What it Is & BucBlind

are proof that Tom Brady is right, the game has been dumbed down and some fans are following suit.

“WBL, I am glad to see you admitted Baker beat the 2 best defenses with last minute drives. Because you and the 2 other haters said he couldn’t do that to the good defenses.”

You left out the part how I tied that to how cheeks our offense was the last 2 games before the bye, and how our QB blew his load in that Seattle game just to go in the bag in his last 11 games where he completed 54% of his 350+ pass attempts to end the season.

Joe was posting those absolutely pathetic passing charts where you got maybe one or two pass beyond 10 yards, but the defenses we face dictated to how our offense operated and not the other way around.

Just like Lakeland said, nobody sees us on their schedule and thinks “oh no, Baker and the Bucs are going to give us fits” which was evidenced by Panthers CB Mike Jackson that “he carry himself like he’s Brett Farve” which loosely translates to “he thinks he’s something he’s not.” All that fire and chip on shoulder out the window when somebody slapped him in his mouth

You fools fall right in line with that.

WBL, you would be hilarious if you werent so ridiculous. You conviently leave out the fact that Baker was so banged up his own teammates couldn’t believe he was able to take the field in the second half of the season. Did you miss that part? You know, where David said he couldn’t believe Baker was able to play? You might conviently leave that out but David didn’t. He said since he was retired he could talk about it. So apparently the coaches didn’t want people discussing just how bad Baker was hurt but still played. There are rules against that now days. So the reality IS, before BM6 was hurt he was leading the way with the MVP thing and in the second half of the season he was hurt so bad his teammates couldn’t believe he was taking the field. So in other words, if it wasn’t for his injuries he could have finished the year as the MVP. This is what happens when BM6 gets just a little protection. If he had as much protection as Mahomes has had he would dominate. That’s who we have as OUR quarterback and don’t forget it!!!

  133. What it is Says:

WBL you and Lakeland don’t have a clue what teams think about. You can’t even remember that David came out on his own and said Baker shouldn’t have been playing. But we are supposed to think you 2 can read the other teams minds. What a joke. I can promise you they think if Baker gets protection we are going to be in a fight.

Beating a team 20-19 and throwing for 233 yards is a ” best down”. To show you how much of a cult Baker Bros are, they are counting a playoff LOSS against Mahomes and KC as a win. WTF??Baker has NEVER beat Mahomes in the NFL. Funny thing about that game Mahomes got knocked out early in the 3rd and still won because they were up 16-3 at one point. You guys have to make excuses, exaggerate and flat out lie because he stinks. You all have to preface everything with ” if” he gets this or ” if this happens” he’ll have a good season lol. When you get a minute look at ” born again Baker” record vs pro bowl QBs here in Tampa. It’s atrocious.

  135. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“What a joke. I can promise you they think if Baker gets protection we are going to be in a fight.”

The joke is how you and others stan out for a QB who has to try his damnedest just to be league average.

Also, David never said Baker shouldn’t have been playing, what he said was “Baker played through injuries most QBs wouldn’t” cool, but again if when healthy he still has to try as hard as he can just to have a Jacoby Brissett level performance and plays way above his norm twice in 3 years, then guess what? He’s not all that good to begin with.

Just admit, you and several others on here have crap standards for QB play and like Tom Brady says the game has been dumbed down in terms of QB play.

We don’t hear stuff like Baker passing with guys after practice and having a threshold of targets a guy has to catch in that period in order for them to get the ball in the upcoming game, because Baker isn’t a maniac of a perfectionist like Tom. Just a maniac and thats what endears some of you to him inspite of inconsistent and at times butt-ugly results.

The actual NFL MVP last year threw for 1,000 more yards, 20 more TDs, and 3 less INTs in as many game as you’re “too early to tell” MVP of the first half of the season. Such stupid talking point.

  136. What it is Says:

Just more meaningless yappin from the deranged hatin crew. Baker is here, he will be here for several more YEARS and a big fat contract is coming because the people that REALLY know knows Baker has what it takes to get us to the superbowl. They just have to get a defense and protect him. And he DID beat Mahomes in 2021. The refs stole the game but everybody knows Baker beat Mahomes that day and would have beat him in 2024 with that last minute drive in the rain if our coach had any guts at all.

  137. Oneilbuc Says:

What it is. You are a Baker fan boy and all you OU/ Cleavand fans are the only ones that believe he can get to a Superbowl. News flash he had all of that in Cleveland 4 of his offensive lineman were pro bowlers and 2 of them were first team all pros he had a top 5 defense with 2 good runningbacks with a top 10 TE and receivers and he still couldn’t get to a Superbowl. He’s playing in the weakest division in football and can’t dominate this division with Mike Evans and Godwin and Jmac. Even when the defense was ranked 7th in scoring and 10th in total defense we went 8-9 . The next year he played better and we went 10-7 and he fumble the ball on the 12 yard line in the 4th quarter. The Lions game he threw a pick and lost that game in the playoffs. This year just needed one game to win before week 18 and he choked in every last one of them. Those are facts you can go look up and if the bucs do resign him ok we can’t stop it just like you can’t stop them if they cut him today. Lol 🤣🤣 It is a reason why Baker is on his 4th team and he’s shown you why. Sam Donald took his staring job in Carolina and the Rams cut him . Again only his fan boys believe Baker Mayfield is a franchise quarterback and maybe Jason Licht see the business side of it . He really couldn’t beat Kyle Trask out in 2023 training camp he had to be gifted the starting job. Me I will be getting ready for a rebuild in the next 2 or 3 years if they resign him .

These ppl are cult members. The Baker cult is beyond insane. its a illness. A undersized, overmatched scrapper literally gets a ton of chances only o be exceeded by the number of excuses. I have never seen any athlete at any time get more excuses.

He did not beat Mahomes ever in the NFL lol. You tell a bold face lie, proclaim it as truth and beat on your chest like Baker balled at when in fact he was (surprise) the weak link. I dont know why we are talking about 1) Cleveland 2) a game from the 2020 season and 3) why we are mentioning Baker in the same sentence/paragraph/short story as Mahomes. Mahomes is a GOAT contender and baker has to scrap every year to try to remain a viable starter. Funny because Baker is 6 months older.

Lets look at the LOSS you keep bragging about for baker vs Mahomes. Kc and mahomes built a 16-3 lead.Mahomes got knocked out halfway through the 3rd quarter. You gloss over the fact the defense got a interception with 4:00 left down by 5, 22-17. baker threw 3 straight incompletions.

Baker was 23/37 for 204 yards, 1 td and a costly (surprise0 interception. He was only sacked once. Both runningbacks averaged over 5 yards per carry. I know when ppl defend Baker the defense giving up 22 points is made out like its 42 points but in reality, its just 22 points. Not dominant but definitely not a hurclean task.

  139. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

What it is: Please do not call into question ANYONE sanity when you personally count a loss as a win for baker. 1) Cleveland actually lost. i gues syou believe if you keep saying it ppl will believe it. No. 2) Baker played like crap. 40 attempts and 204 yards passing and 3)mahomes was knocked out halfway thru the 3rd and Baker still couldnt pull it out. And finally, he had the ball down 5 with minutes left and threw 3 straight incompletions and CHOKED.

  140. ScottyMack Says:

Lokog said – “Baker carr is not a winner he’s proven that already yea he plays with heart but against a good defense he sucks big time”

Sure seemed to have no problem beating the Texans and Seahawks last season.

  141. ScottyMack Says:

Can’t wait to see the Bucs give Baker at least $100 mil guaranteed and at least $50 mil per year if only to watch the heads explode here. LOL

  142. GenocideD Says:

Who thinks we’re not going to resign baker?
