Joel Glazer Addresses Baker Mayfield Contract Extension
April 1st, 2026Will Baker Mayfield enter a contract season, meaning without a deal signed for 2027 when the 2026 campaign begins?
That would be rare in the current era for a team that loves its quarterback.
Joe asked Buccaneers co-owner and Raise The Flags co-star Joel Glazer about a potential Mayfield contract Tuesday at the NFL annual meeting in Phoenix.
JoeBucsFan.com: Is it your hope that something is resolved with Baker this offseason, with an extension that makes him a franchise quarterback beyond the three-year contract he has now?
Joel Glazer: That’s part of [GM] Jason [Licht’s] planning and everything. And I know Jason is looking at all, not only [Baker], any other contract. And it’s a constant thing that you look at. That’s something that Jason and [assistant GM] Mike [Greenberg] and his staff, [VP of football research] Jackie [Davidson], carefully evalute and there’s a time and a place for everything. And everything always takes care of itself.
JoeBucsFan.com: But is Baker your guy? Are you all on board with Baker?
Joel Glazer: Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. I mean, he’s gone above and beyond anything we could have asked or hoped of Baker. Everybody loves him. He performs on the field, gives 250 percent when he’s on that field. And that’s all you can ask.
Before this line of questioning, Glazer said he has no issue paying top dollar for a franchise quarterback because that means things are going well.
“That doesn’t hurt at all to write that check,” Glazer said. “It’s something that all the teams do if you have a good quarterback.”
For those who missed it, Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht said Monday he has had many and good conversations with the Mayfield camp about a contract extension.

April 1st, 2026 at 11:12 am
Bucs should sign him to an extension, but since they punted on this season, they should look to trade some of this year’s picks to pick up draft picks for the 2027 draft.
April 1st, 2026 at 11:13 am
It’s now becoming clear. They don’t want to pay Baker or Bowles. So they are going to tank with Bowles to get a low pick, fire Bowles and Licht, and let a new coach/GM select a QB in the draft, which by definition means the QB is paid much lower.
Win for Glazers. Loss for fans.

Baker carr is not even close to a franchise qb he sucks
April 1st, 2026 at 11:19 am
If Baker Mayfield hit the practice field without a new deal
He should have his head examined
He’s 30+ with no guaranteed money after this season
If he perform well, and attempt to hit Free Agency
They will tag him, and force his hand
If he suck this season, they will move on from him
If he’s injured this season, he loses millions in value
This team needs him more than he needs them
He has the leverage, and he should use it to his advantage
This is a business first, then a sport
No NFL QB should play without guaranteed money on the table
April 1st, 2026 at 11:21 am
Got to play out the year. Need to see more ups than downs.
April 1st, 2026 at 11:24 am
Pay the man. Baker fits in Tampa. Need to make sure there is some left over for other players though too…don’t think Baker Mayfield wants repeat of Cleveland or Charlotte experience.
April 1st, 2026 at 11:30 am
If I’m cutting the check – I need to make sure we don’t see the Baker of the 2nd half of the season before I commit “Franchise QB Dollars” to him.
Go Bucs!!
April 1st, 2026 at 11:32 am
HeavyD is going to lose his mind! He’d rather have Winston back. The only starting NFL QB to lose his starting job to a backup Tight End!
April 1st, 2026 at 11:33 am
Heard Sean McVay on the radio this morning.
Outgoing, but not arrogant— positive thinker.
10-5 postseason record with two Super Bowls and one win.
Motivates his players while cheering them on. Type A personality which I love.
And he just turned 40.
Wish we had someone like that instead of his polar opposite …
I’d wait on Baker.
As mentioned, the Bucs don’t want to end up like Arizona and Miami who both extended their QB’s and are in cap hell for the premature overpaying of QB’s who played so bad they are no longer with the team. And they are still paying!
If Baker plays great this year, he’ll be worth the extra dollars for the wait.
If you pay him big now and he plays this year like he finished the last, Licht and the Bucs can join the ranks of Miami and Arizona who look like fools.
April 1st, 2026 at 11:33 am
Does anyone believe anyone associated with the Bucs is telling the truth?
April 1st, 2026 at 11:41 am
All the GM experts on this site are damn embarrassing, all could star in the movie Dinner For Schmucks.
April 1st, 2026 at 11:41 am
Too bad you couldn’t have asked Glazer this same question right after the Dolphins loss.
April 1st, 2026 at 11:44 am
Like l said, Baker Mayfield has the leverage
They can extend him now, or start Jake Browning for 17 games
If not Browning, then who? A rookie? Another vet off the street?
No starting NFL QB should play on an expiring contract
There’s too much risk involved, injury rate are much higher among QBs
They gave Baker the $30 million roster bonus to sweeten the deal
But that’s a small drop in the bucket
When you consider the average salary of an starting NFL QB
April 1st, 2026 at 11:46 am
The owners are playing a game of chicken. Baker is not a chicken. I smell a hold out coming and maybe even a trade request. Baker won’t risk an injury. Baker will bet on himself. I think the owners want a new QB on a rookie deal.
April 1st, 2026 at 11:52 am
“Things are going well”
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
F-YOU – Glazer dorks!!!!!
Four straight losses in December?
Things are going well?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Baker isn’t trash – But he isn’t treasure either.
If the Bucs don’t have a top ten defense and a top 5 rushing game – they will never see another Super Bowl with Baker Mayfield at QB.
Mark my words – THE BUCS WILL NEVER SEE ANOTHER SUPER BOWL WITH BAKER MAYFIELD AT QB WITHOUT A TOP DEFENSE AND RUSHING GAME…
Other than that we are in great shape.
Go Bucs!!!!!
April 1st, 2026 at 11:53 am
Okay. This is an easy one. Not much reading between the lines required. Glazer says Absolutely. Twice. Above and beyond anything we could have asked. Eveybody loves(not likes) him. 250 %. That’s all you can ask. Heck no we don’t mind writing that check. There’s no telling what kind of windfall profits we’re reaping from this golden goose. And she’s in her prime laying years! Man this is gonna be a huge contract. Baker Mayfield is worth every penny. He’s a QB savant and he’s fixing to lead the Bucs to their next Super Bowl.
April 1st, 2026 at 11:54 am
@ Lakeland Says: “This team needs him more than he needs them
He has the leverage, and he should use it to his advantage
This is a business first, then a sport
No NFL QB should play without guaranteed money on the table.”
That is absolutely NOT TRUE. As I said yesterday, BAKER is not in the same boat as a Tristan Wirfs. HE cannot afford to just sit-out and not be PAID. If he does that, THEN WHAT!? So, he’s going to NOT PLAY this season!? And, YOU think that will HELP HIM when it comes to getting a longterm MAX Level Deal from another team NEXT offseason!? At 32 YEARS-OLD, and without playing and SITTING-OUT the year before!? And, at 32 he canNOT afford to miss-out on very many PAYCHECKS just like that, and especially not around $35-$40 MILLION. Also, you’re going to add THAT (“holding-out”) to the rest of his ‘childish’ antics and reputation, that A LOT of people around the league have NOT been fans of. When, all of those execs. are already paranoid AF to begin with. He has ZERO “leverage” as far as holding-out goes. And, if the Bucs DO extend him at $200-MIL+ with $130-MIL+ fully guaranteed over the next 4-years, then we are staring ANOTHER “Lost Decade” square in the face. BAD Teams Do NOT Need $50-MILLION QUARTERBACKS. Period. It would be the ‘ultimate’ Kiss of Death, just as it always is. Especially, an inconsistent, aging, banged-up, only slightly above average starting-QB. He doesn’t have the same type of “leverage” as an ALL-PRO player of Tristan WIRFS caliber, who is in his prime. It’s not the same thing, or is even close.
April 1st, 2026 at 11:55 am
On another note… The Coen and the Jags are moving to Orlando in 2027 LoL.
April 1st, 2026 at 11:56 am
Jack Strand, get this muppet out of here!
April 1st, 2026 at 11:58 am
“Especially, an inconsistent, aging, banged-up, only slightly above average starting-QB”
Only above average when his guards are healthy, lol
April 1st, 2026 at 12:01 pm
I read things like this everywhere.
Baker Mayfield Current rank #20
Preseason rank: 7
How did this happen?
Mayfield was among the elite pocket passers prior to this year. And now he looks like a mess. Above all, the late turnovers killed him. He had four fourth-quarter interceptions in December — all in the final nine minutes, and two in plus territory. This after throwing just one fourth-quarter pick over the first 13 games. Can Baker pull himself and the Bucs out of this tailspin next season?
Consistently, Baker is ranked in the 15-20 range of starting QB’s
This isn’t me talking, this is nearly anyone you query in the NFL.
Yet many here want to throw big money at him. Why?
What do you guys see that others don’t? I’m serious. I don’t understand it.
Does your love for this guy supersede your desire for the Bucs to win?
I want this team to win. That’s it! Everybody is replaceable on this team. And some things are true whether you believe them or not.
Stop worshiping his “gumption” and view his results, without excuses.
Now … what do you see?
April 1st, 2026 at 12:02 pm
Baker is 2 games over 500 but has leverage? Go to rehad immediately. Funny thing is, Baker is so valuable that they paid Otton first. Lol. Guys, it’s tank season and the best HC and QB to lead the race to 5 is Bowles and Baker.
At the end of the 2026 season Baker will have made $100 million. And “fans” are on here acting like he’s made scraps. The Bucs paid $100 million for 1 playoff win 3 years ago. Its literal insanity to burn guaranteed money on a player that finds a way to lose in big moments.
The media, and certainly the HC and GM, dont want to admit the obvious. They have little faith in Baker and that 2-7 stretch of awful play has hurt their perception of him. Baker and his fans are essentially hoping he puts together an MVP season to bounce back…but thats something hes never done. He cant play good, consistent football for an entire season. If he could, he’d have his contract extension by now.
April 1st, 2026 at 12:03 pm
Pay him now. The longer you wait the more pissed he’ll get and we’ll end up paying a lot more.
April 1st, 2026 at 12:10 pm
Todd has turned Baker into a schlub. The Royal Regressor is our man. Even Tom Brady who never in his life had a losing season, went 8-9 under the Blubbery Buffoon.
April 1st, 2026 at 12:13 pm
He’s fine, he’s getting $30 million out whatever this year. I’m PRETTY sure any of us could get by just fine with $100 million
April 1st, 2026 at 12:13 pm
Aaron says:
“if im cutting the check I need to make sure im not seeing the Baker of the 2nd half of the season..”
Spot on.
Somewhere between the Baker “sucks” haters and the “Baker is great, sign him!!”..lies the truth.
Baker has been a solid QB since signing here and has done better than most expected. He’s a great teammate, good in the community, has win games, is tough and his teammates seem to love him. He also can be inconsistent, gets too hyped up in big games, and had some piss poor turnovers in those December games.
Baker signed a 3 year deal and has a year left on his contract. He isn’t going to hold out. The smart play is to see how Baker does this season and the direction of the franchise after the season. IF Baker plays well and the team gets back to the playoffs, then sign him to a longterm deal. IF the team struggles and Baker plays more like the 2nd half of last season than the first, then you most likely means Bowles is gone, the team has a top 10 pick and the new coaching staff will want to look at drafting a franchise QB and rebuild with a QB on a rookie deal.
No need to cut a huge check to Baker this summer.
April 1st, 2026 at 12:15 pm
Bee
Doug Williams record with Tampa Bay was 33-33-1, .500
And Culverhouse was saying the exact same thing as you
He didn’t consider the overall roster, or the QB value to the team
The Bucs went to the playoffs 3 of 5 years Doug was here
It was probably 15 years before they went back to the playoffs after Doug
You have backup QBs, Edge Rushers, WRs making more than Mayfield
The same situation Doug was in
It’s very, very hard to replace a starting QB
April 1st, 2026 at 12:16 pm
The occult of Trask continues to embarrass themselves. Baker is fine. The problem is that soft a$$ defense and the head coach.
April 1st, 2026 at 12:26 pm
These Arm Chair GMs are quick to get rid of a starting QB
But none of them has a better option in place
They’re just blowing smoke, and no one is inhaling it
April 1st, 2026 at 12:29 pm
Sal Volatile … ‘The owners are playing a game of chicken. Baker is not a chicken. I smell a hold out coming and maybe even a trade request.’
Can’t see that as being the case at all Sal. Baker’s current contract goes THROUGH 2026. I see absolutely nothing wrong with the Bucs letting him play out his current contract BEFORE they offer him a new one.
Baker has a history of betting on himself. And I’m convinced that Baker feels that he’ll have an excellent 2026; he’s not the type to go into a season expecting the worst. A hold-out or a trade request accomplishes nothing for Baker; doesn’t matter how much confidence you have in yourself if you’re relegated to the bench (or relegating yourself to the bench).
Still can’t figure out why so many are down on Jake Browning as our new QB backup. Young QB (3 yrs experience) who sports a 68.5% pass completion rate & has a 4-6 record with the bumbling Bengals. He went 4-3 as a rookie in 2023, but 0-3 in 2025. Still, I think he’s a significant upgrade from what Teddy brought last year (he was washed up before we signed him off the couch).
April 1st, 2026 at 12:30 pm
“Everybody loves him” -Joel Glazer. Hilarious 😂
April 1st, 2026 at 12:33 pm
The Glazers are selling the team. Very cheap team. Stadium renovation coming up. Sell for 2 billion and cash out. BAKER will go replace Stafford
April 1st, 2026 at 12:35 pm
“Still can’t figure out why so many are down on Jake Browning as our new QB backup.”
Because that’s all he’ll ever be is a backup, his ceiling is maybe starting a game or two and not losing them by being ineffective. The Bengals went out and literally traded for 40 yr old Joe Flacco to play with Burrow out, instead of giving Browning the nod. There’s nothing to be “up” about acquiring him.
Now Jack Strand, THAT’s a QB to be excited about.
April 1st, 2026 at 12:36 pm
Baker prior to the last game of the season versus Carolina …..”I will have these guys ready to play”…….where was that when you were going 1-7 in the 8 games prior to that? I was on board with Baker until that 2-7 ending, now? , not so sure….he looked good with his Lightning jersey on holding the door open for the hockey players on stadium series day though. I would sure like to know how much our QB played in to Evans leaving….cant resist the urge to play with the immortal Brock Purdy I guess…..
April 1st, 2026 at 12:37 pm
BTW Joe, no one’s apparently brought this up yet, but if the Bucs let Baker play out this contract THEN franchise tag him for 2027, it’d cost us about $50.7 mil to do that according to Over-The-CAP. IMO that’s still less expensive than some of these $55 mil contracts that are being bantied about. IOW the Bucs do have options.
April 1st, 2026 at 12:40 pm
JA, what do we see others don’t? Maybe the fact that ALL those others said Baker would NEVER start in the NFL again. And maybe like fanofdabucs said Brady for the first time in his career went 8-9 under this mess. There is much more to BM6 than what is being shown. It’s like the Monday night game against KC in 2024 Baker drove late and could have won the game but TB decides not to win but too tie and gave the ball back to Mahomes and we lost. TB is just not a good HC, sorry. Baker has never had a good coach that can unlock his talent. It is coming though. Look out when it does.
April 1st, 2026 at 12:42 pm
Glazers are owners of win it every 10 to 15 years. To focused on their soccer squad in Europe…Manchester United. They know it brings them more revenue.
April 1st, 2026 at 12:44 pm
The main problem with this fanbase
They see all of this “Imaginary” talent on this roster
I just don’t get it, it’s all an illusion, one or two injuries, and this team is toast
We have a different OC every season, that’s an unstable situation
And we have unstable results, which is less than ideal
You add that to a team that cannot draft defensive players
And for the most part, the defense stinks
A strong run game, quality WRs, decent OC, good pass protection
Those are necessities that a QB need at any level
You probably can get by with 2 of the 4, but the Bucs had none last season
April 1st, 2026 at 12:45 pm
Warren Brooks Lynch … ‘Because that’s all he (Browning) will ever be is a backup.’
He sat for 3 years behind JOE BURROW. No rookie QB was gonna replace Joe Burrow. Yet when he did get in, he actually did fairly decent, given that the TEAM surrounding him had a lot of issues.
And I’ve love for the Bucs to invest a later round pick in Jack Strand. Big & tall (6’5″ & 240 lbs) is the way I prefer our QBs (and yes, I was one of those who wanted us to draft Josh Allen (6’5″ & 237 lbs) back in the 2018 draft before we traded our #7 pick to the Bills. But noooo … we already had wonder-child Jameis. Lucky us.
April 1st, 2026 at 12:47 pm
So … Anti Baker. Wait, even those who want to see more from Baker after last season, are all GM schmucks.
Ok, let’s go with the real deal, the real GM’s who think Baker is a mid tier QB. And that would be most all of them but Licht.
I don’t hate Baker, I just want to see the Bucs win.
Is Baker their best chance to win this year? Yes, most definitely … so far.
But let’s not sign him just to sign him. You need to leave room to draft someone next year should Baker falter.
That’s good business and good GM-ing.
I swear, the way you spout vitriol and become hurt personally when someone even slightly criticizes your man-love is embarrassing. He is an NFL QB, not your wife … or is he?
Remember C.J. Stroud? He set the league on fire as a rookie, and now he is MIA.
His injury isn’t physical, it’s between the ears. It happens.
Is it happening here with Baker? Not sure yet. But best to wait and see before extending him.
April 1st, 2026 at 12:57 pm
Lakeland … ‘You add that to a team that cannot draft defensive players. And for the most part, the defense stinks’.
You & I normally agree on a lot of stuff Lakeland, but I don’t see our defense in that light. Jason Licht has made some bad defensive picks to be sure, but he’s also made a number of pretty good ones. Our problem along those lines is that those bad picks have become our DEPTH over the years (although several have become meh starters), and our lack of depth has really hurt us during injury-laden seasons.
I think a bigger problem is the scheme Todd Bowles is trying to run. When he has veterans executing it (the Suh, JPP, Shaq years), AND the defense is supported by a quality offense & S/Ts (like in 2020-2021 & 2024), we tend to do quite well. In years where that wasn’t the case, the Bucs’ defense struggled.
I guess another way to say that is that it took us 2019 to ‘work out the bugs’ in Todd’s defense, and we reaped the benefits of that experience in 2020 & 2021. Once he had to accommodate personnel changes (fewer beasts like JPP & Suh), and especially in key positions like MLB, his defense struggled.
April 1st, 2026 at 1:00 pm
I can understand the reasons why you wanna fire a HC, or move on from a QB
But who will you replace them with is my question
You can’t just fire them, then hope their replacement is better.
You have to have a plan B in place, and the Bucs don’t have it
April 1st, 2026 at 1:04 pm
Baker is so inconsistent he need a contract loaded with incentives. When he is good he is good when not he is a turnover missed open receiver qb. It’s a Bucs life
April 1st, 2026 at 1:05 pm
“He performs on the field, gives 250 percent when he’s on that field.”
I ran this quote through AI and it explains everything!
-If the goal is to average 100% per game over 17 games, the total “effort pool” is 1700%.
Blowing 250% for each of the first 6 games uses up 1500% right away. That leaves only 200% for the remaining 11 games.
Spread that out, and the player would have to average about 18.2% per game the rest of the season to still land at a 100% overall average.
So the concept is simple: overperforming early forces a massive drop-off later if the total average has to stay fixed.
April 1st, 2026 at 1:07 pm
Actually it’s you haters that get your little feelers hurt. Us Baker boys don’t care if you disagree just don’t go full liberal and say bs that makes no sense. You have never seen someone attack another over a simple opinion. It’s when the haters say crap that’s totally not true is when you see people get their hackles up. So if you want to be made to look dumb say dumb stuff and suffer the consequences. It’s that simple.
April 1st, 2026 at 1:10 pm
“He sat for 3 years behind JOE BURROW. No rookie QB was gonna replace Joe Burrow. Yet when he did get in, he actually did fairly decent, given that the TEAM surrounding him had a lot of issues.”
That’s kind of the point though, even sitting behind Burrow then Burrow getting hurt, Cincy went out and actively traded for a 40yo QB to start instead of Browning isn’t a good look for Browning.
“And I’ve love for the Bucs to invest a later round pick in Jack Strand. Big & tall (6’5″ & 240 lbs) is the way I prefer our QBs”
You forgot strong and can make all the throws. It’ll be interesting to see if he gets drafted at all, but if he hits the UDFA market somebody is going to throw some money at him. Biggest slight is playing D-2 ball, but just looking at him function then thinking how Strand would look with 10 NFL players excites me. Even if we don’t go after him, I’m going to keep an eye on who picks him up and what their plan is for him.
I know guys don’t care about the p-word, but that’s the type of potential I wish we went after instead of bringing back Bazelak & bringing Browining in, those 2 are as exciting as cold, scrambled eggs.
April 1st, 2026 at 1:10 pm
Greg Schiano got rid of Josh Freeman
He thought he had a legitimate plan B in place
The plan he had in place was Mike Glennon
He betted his NFL career on Mike Glennon, and he lost
Same thing happened to Raheem Morris in Atlanta
He benched Kirk Cousins and betted on Michael Penix
He lost the bet, and it cost him his job
And in both situations, the GM was fired also
Like l said, if you don’t have a better option in place
Then don’t make the move, because it cost you your job
April 1st, 2026 at 1:10 pm
Lakeland
I somewhat disagree because not all starters are created equally, obviously. So the Browns starting QB isnt as hard to find like the Bengals starting QB. So for what the Bucs are paying they aren’t getting much for the money compared to other QBs making the same or more. The fact that you compared Baker to a SB winner is another issue I have. To prop Baker up you have to use better players instead of judging Baker on his play and what he can control.
Let me put it to you like this, do you think Bengal fans are split on whether Burrow is good or not? 👀
April 1st, 2026 at 1:11 pm
Since 2023 Baker is 2-11 in primetime and playoff games.
LOCK HIM UP TO A BILLION DOLLAR EXTENSION!
April 1st, 2026 at 1:17 pm
Warren Brooks Lynch – I’d spend a late rounder on QB Taylen Green if he’s still there in the 5th or later.
6′ 6″, 227, runs a 4.36, has a strong arm, can make every play. He’s not a good QB right now, which is the only reason someone that size with that arm would last that long, but as a developmental guy, why not try to hit the lottery. To be sure, he almost surely won’t pan out, but pretty much no QB’s picked that late pan out, with an obvious exception or two. Also, at that size and speed he could come in right away and at least play around the goal line.
Also – I’d still be open to trading a late pick for AR15, basically for the same reason, except Richardson has already proven himself to be a good goal line runner which by itself would make him worth a late round pick – basically a FB/QB combo.
April 1st, 2026 at 1:23 pm
Bee,
Ok, we get rid of Mayfield and Bowles
So what is your plan going forward?
Who will you replace them with ?
April 1st, 2026 at 1:24 pm
Bee, let me put it to you like this. Burrow hasn’t been in the playoffs for the last 3 years. Burrow spends most of his time on the bench hurt. Mayfield has played quite a few games head to head against Burrow. I’d have to look it up but he has stone cold kicked the shlt out of Burrow. So do us all a favor Bee, quit comparing apples to oranges.
April 1st, 2026 at 1:28 pm
I’m all for replacing the entire coaching staff
Replacing the entire roster of 53
I’m even for replacing the 17 on the Practice Squad
But first l better make sure l replace them with an better option
April 1st, 2026 at 1:31 pm
If baker is signed to a four year 40+contact and is highly successful, several folks posting on this site will mysteriously disappear or change their names!

I like Green as a project player, but like you hinted at he needs a ton of polish on the technical aspect of his game in order to see the field in the NFL. Amazing athlete tho, but I suggest you take a look at Strand.
April 1st, 2026 at 1:44 pm
@DR
That would be 50.7 on top of the deferred 15mil payable all in ’27. All the more reason to work out a cap friendly deal if they plan to keep him since they love him. Sentimental sorts these Glazers.
April 1st, 2026 at 1:47 pm
Yeah. Burrow was number one pick in 2019. One year after Mayfield. A Heismann winner. Big game for the NFL the 2018 vs 2019 Heismann winners and first picks. First meeting. Mayfield throws 5 td passes in the win. Baker Mayfield doing Baker Mayfield things. Mayfield leads head to head 3-1. And imagine Defense Rules. Joe Burrow is 6’4”.
April 1st, 2026 at 1:51 pm
Well, we won’t have to worry about changing our names, #6 will not win many games this year, but several folks, will make excuses for him for sure, he’s hurt, the team has lost to many players to injury, he broke a fingernail, Bowels threw a terrible INT at a crucial time in the game, every excuse imaginable but just not the truth, #6 is Terrible, he’s not even worth the 33mil, that he’s getting now….
April 1st, 2026 at 1:59 pm
😂
Yeah…. Same thing could have been written about Mike Evans before Free Agency hit !
April 1st, 2026 at 2:00 pm
If the Bucs extend Mayfield, they better provide him with a talented, physical and deep offensive line or they will see turnovers and injuries for their money
April 1st, 2026 at 2:02 pm
Rod and WBL. If it’s somebody from Arkansas backfield you want look at the dude lining up behind that tall QB. He’s the one.

Chandler Whitmer, could develop Green, look what He did for Mendoza, let’s draft Green or Allar.

Well, we won’t have to worry about changing our names, #6 will not win many games this year, but several folks, will make excuses for him for sure, he’s hurt, the team has lost to many players to injury, he broke a fingernail, Bowels threw a terrible INT at a crucial time in the game, every excuse imaginable but just not the truth, #6 is Terrible, he’s not even worth the 33mil, that he’s getting now…
=================================
HeavyE, Munch, Bee and the other girls really don’t like themselves which is why they endlessly bad mouth Baker a Top5 NFL QB. Mayfield has the best all time playoff QB rating, is a great leader with one of the best arms in the NFL and these band girls are always unhappy. They all fit in well with Oneilbuc who must have been their high school English and debate coach. Losers all.

Warren Brooks Lynch – Not a ton on Strand out there, very limited highlights so hard to tell much from what I saw. He physically looks the part. In the videos I saw it looked like he had a good arm, but in the clips I saw, I didn’t see anything special – not saying he doesn’t have that arm, just very limited footage available is all. He does throw effortlessly, so I assume he can dial it up.
Anyways, based on the limited amount I saw and read about him, he seems more like an UDFA, and I certainly wouldn’t have any issues bringing him in for a look. Even with the very little I saw, he clearly has more talent than Ballsack.

For the zillionth time, second half of the season was *both starting guards and their backups are injured* Baker. He threw picks because we were almost always running 5 yard pass patterns so Baker didn’t get killed. The Defensive Tackles were all over him on every single play. He was in no way responsible for the late season collapse and he’s a top 6(!!) qb who should be paid that way. Think of it this way- we had to tear up the entire playbook and play goal line offense for the second half of the season. And defenses knew it too and jammed our receivers and stayed tight on them early. That’s why our offense only had short passes and screens, there was no time for anything else. Stop ignoring the obvious reason we fell apart last season and it *certainly* wasn’t Baker!

Rod and WBL. If it’s somebody from Arkansas backfield you want look at the dude lining up behind that tall QB. He’s the one.

Yeah, I like Mike Washington a lot – but personally I wouldn’t spend a high pick on a RB and I assume he goes in the 2nd. But, with that said, he would be a good combo with Bucky, and I certainly won’t throw a fit if they took him.

You guys are totally overlooking what I discovered.
Glazer said, Baker “performs on the field, gives 250 percent when he’s on that field.”
If you do the math, it all makes sense. Baker gave 250% in the first 6 games of the year, that left him only giving 18% on the remaining games. Math is math, and it makes sense why he had a total and complete collapse.
If they pace Baker so he gives 100% in 17 games, the overall results would probably be better. Maybe that’s what the new QB coach also discovered and was brought in to fix.

“For the zillionth time, second half of the season was *both starting guards and their backups are injured* Baker.”
Saying it a zillion times isn’t going to make it true.
“Stop ignoring the obvious reason we fell apart last season and it *certainly* wasn’t Baker!”
Bro, completing 54% of your pass plays in your last 11 games or having your yards per attempt cut in half after week 7 had nothing to do with OG play.
Your fighting the good fight tho Pete, but I’ve said to you before we had some of our best offensive performances with replacements playing on the OL.
So if those same replacements are playing in games that broke our hearts as fans, there has to be more to what hampered us that OG play.
Sean Tucker had one of the longest runs of the season, behind a pulling Michael Jordan(not that one)

Mike Washington, Jr. Arkansas running’s back. 235 pounds. Battering Ram? Yes, but it gets better. 4.33 speed. They’re saying he’s gonna be the second or third running back picked. But may last til the second round. No offense to Bucky, but this dude has RB1 written all over him.

They always play better in a contract season…Any Arguments?

Washington is pretty much slated for 2nd round. No more of a luxury pick than Sadiq. If I had to choose it would be Washington. He’s a big boy too.

It had EVERYTHING to do with it!!! Having one guard and the other guard’s top backup is radically different than not having either one or their backups. It’s as plain as the nose on your face. Did you even watch the games?! There’s no other explanation for the play calling. We stopped throwing over the middle as much. We never threw more than 10 yards. Our plays were 3 step drops and immediately unload the ball. Over and over. Defenses knew what was coming and what to cover. On every single play the defensive tackles were as far back past the line of scrimmage as Baker was before he could even release the ball.
Not on;y is it true it’s obvious. The aDOT wasn’t due to a sudden lack of talent. It was sue to lack of TIME.

Washington is a complete package. He is fast and cuts easily. He can lay a hit but usually moves around it. Follows his blocking but does not wait too long. He can catch. And he’s got some trash talk to him.
That’s the size back they need.

Time for a drink.

To be honest,
Not one person on the Bucs team played decent for 17 games last year
And only a few of them actually played 17 games
But that was last season, this is a new year, new team
I’m expecting a huge upgrade over last season team

No, you just want it to be because that’s all YOU think was wrong with the offense and that’s cool, for you.
Haggard and Heck started the Seattle & SF games, we put up a grand total of 68 points between those 2 games.
So don’t ask me stupid questions like did I watch the games, when I legit just gave you an example of a specific play in a specific game that included a back up OG.
Again, part of the reason, but this idea that we get our starters back and everything is fine and dandy is short-sighted Pete. If that’s how you see things, cool, but there’s alot more going on that factored into going 3-8 in our last 11 games
Which is 64% of our schedule. Not that “half the season” guys lazily refer to it as and even our last win before the bye, was ALL defense while our offense helped a little bit.

reminds me of the winston days lol….
folks wanted the bucs to pay winston lol…happy the bucs let it play out…winston proved he’s a back up
baker will prove the same!!!!
Bucs need to let it play out….if baker ends the season with a winning record and he gets another playoff win, THEN pay him…..otherwise let him walk!!!!
imo, baker will choke just like winston!!!
GO BUCS!!!!
