Mina Kimes Bullish On Bucs Offense

March 26th, 2026

Bucs offense in good shape.

There’s no need to worry about the Bucs offense. That’s the word from ESPN NFL analyst Mina Kimes.

Sure, Kimes said, speaking on her podcast this week, any offense will take a hit when a Hall of Fame receiver bolts the team. But Kimes liked how deep the Bucs’ wide receiver room was to begin with.

So, combining that with a strong offensive line and a franchise quarterback, Kimes doesn’t think Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht has to sweat over the offense when the draft arrives in less than a month.

“I still feel pretty damn good about this [offensive] roster,” Kimes said. “I gotta say, I was looking at — obviously, things fell apart last year, and there was injuries throughout — but you know, even with Mike Evans gone, the receiving group still is in decent shape.

“… And the offensive line is great. They signed Kenneth Gainwell, so I think offensively, I still feel pretty good [about the Bucs’ offense].”

Kimes did mention perhaps the Bucs could add an offensive player, but it is not a pressing need. She mentioned how the Bucs brought back Cade Otton, but like many, including Joe, Kimes wondered how dangerous the offense could be with a dynamic tight end who is a deep threat.

However, this chipper, feel-good moment from Kimes about the Bucs quickly turned sour when she mentioned the defensive front-seven.

Joe fully understands. Joe’s eaten enough Nexium over the years because of this.

Our O line is highly overrated, and a joke with any injury.
    Sick of hearing about it.

  2. Hodad Says:

The whole roster is overrated. The offense is in better shape than the defense. The whole front seven needs an upgrade, and Licht has made some moves. We’ll see how the draft goes. Then it’s up to Todd. If he fails, he’s gone.

  3. FlBoy84 Says:

Think she’s spot on. Like usual, the HC & D is what is gonna hold this team back next year.

  4. Simeon4HOF Says:

Just not sure why the highlight of free agency would be the money to Otton if we were going TE Rd 1

  5. Simeon4HOF Says:

Maybe if we traded Mike after the 3rd and 28 we’d have another pick.
Maybe if we had an Edge rusher we wouldnt need one in 1st Rd.
Not saying we should have, but JL stopped taking risks and its baffling
Not the time to, because if we trade up to get Styles we’ll be set at that position another 15 years. JL moved to get Vita and at other times.
This is a good year to move around. It shouldn’t be that hard to maneuver a way to fill our 2 Defenaive holes with superstars.
If Im JL Im giving up next year’s #1 to move up in Rd 1

  6. Simeon4HOF Says:

Meant 2 defensive stars in front 7.
We got Brooks and Sapp in the same draft.
Need to replicate that this year

  7. Simeon4HOF Says:

If the Bucs add Sadiq tho, that’ll be Bucky, Tez, and him form Oregon.
Makes it seem more likely to happen

  8. Buc Fan in Phoenix Says:

I hang on EVERY word that Mina Kimes has to say on the Bucs. I put an incredible amount of weight and value on her commentary. Her knowledge on anything sports related is absolutely 2nd to none. When I wake up every day I check to see if she has posted anything new and I engrave it into my brain. And if you believe anything I just wrote I got some ocean front property here in Arizona I’ll sell you really cheap.

  9. adam from ny Says:

i liked the podcast you guys did with ira…glad his eyeballs are scraped good, and he’s back up and running…

i liked what you said about “let’s just outscore everyone”…

if we score 30 points a game, we will win games…

i like it…sling and pound the rock zackity zac…

let’s freakin’ just outscore the opps all the time and not rely on coach’s bumba clod defensive schmear 🙂

  10. adam from ny Says:

yeah i’m starting to think sadiq might be the move at 15…bolster and make the offense lethal…not only the receivers and backs…but now the tight ends too…

then just go defense defense defense

  11. Bowles Wasn't Held Accountable Says:

Do any of you really think the Bucs gave Cade Otton $30 million just to take another TE in the 1st Round? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think Otton deserves anywhere near that amount of money for being average, but if Licht actually did this he should fire himself.

  12. Jeffrey Becker Says:

she didn’t mention our adding an actual OC who can run the ball?

  13. Obvious Says:

Buc fan in Phoenix – hahaha. Yes spot on.

  14. mg Says:

Can any of these female nfl reporters make a sammich?

  15. BigBucJoe Says:

How does she feel about the team bringing back a head coach with a solid record of consistent mediocrity?

  16. Gofortheface30 Says:

I mean god forbid we lose a starter or two on the offensive line. Should the o-line really play that poorly with 3 of the 5 starters still playing? I would argue no. The reason why PLAYED like a bottom 5 line last yr is because Goedeke was really bad upon his return, Tristan Wirfs was average at best, and Ben Bredeson was better at center than our starting first round draft pick center. Barton needs to be better, Wirfs and Goedeke need to be healthy and god forbid we have a backup guard or two coming in or our entire offense falls apart, we can’t run and Baker loses all accuracy. I hate this team sometimes. Idk why I do this

  17. Nick jannette Says:

Mina who cares, women reporters in the nfl bore me go cover the wnba

  18. JA Says:

Wasn’t she the costar in TED?

  19. Deuceswild78 Says:

Yeah if the coaching matched the talent on offense we’ll be great

  20. Lakeland Says:

This team better be prepared this season
You can’t blame injuries on poor play in the NFL
You have 53 roster spots, another 17 on the Practice Squad
You have all off-season to get the right players for your team

Last season the offense stunk down the stretch
They averaged 16.8 ppg during the last 7 games
The team went 2-5 in those games, and missed the playoffs

There’s zero excuses for that, Man up and play better football
The defense has to get off the field, simple as that
The Special Teams has to do their jobs, quit loafing

They either get it done, or get some players in here to get it done
No one want to hear about injuries, that’s just a wimpy excuse
If you’re injured, go on injury reserve, that’s what it’s for

If you’re not on I.R then you have to get the job done

    Simple as that

  21. Dom Says:

Yall are ridiculous. She literally said something good about the Bucs and you guys are still mad because it came from a woman. Mina is one of the few bright spots left on ESPN. Somone that actually focuses on football rather than dramaslop TMZ BS

  22. Tico Brohe Says:

No one in our running back room can pass protect. We’re cooked chat. Rachaad was underrated on 3rd down in pass pro. We are going to miss him sorely. Putting Ko Kieft in the backfield isn’t enough

  23. Muscle Hampster Says:

I think we’ll be great if our OLine isn’t decimated this upcoming season

  24. Todd Says:

The real question is can Lichtbrain put together a decent back up Oline?

This will be telling as we always suffer Oline injuries.

  25. Bojim Says:

Even without Mike. They’ll be dangerous.

  26. Lt. Dan Says:

It’s disappointing to me that shade is being thrown at Mina. She is the outlier of all outliers and she is a success in her chosen field. Think about it; she’s Korean and female in a white / black male dominated career field. And she is highly successful. Kudos Mrs. Kimes!

  27. Stpetematt Says:

Ridiculous. I’ll bet Mina is smarter than any misogynist on here that says negative things about her simply because she is a woman.

  28. Alanbucsfan Says:

The Bucs draft needs to yield an offensive lineman, defensive lineman, and 2 lb’s.
If they prioritize defensive secondary, TE, RB, WR or waste a pick on a QB, they will stink again.

  29. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“However, this chipper, feel-good moment from Kimes about the Bucs quickly turned sour when she mentioned the defensive front-seven.”

She also mentioned we’ve been looking to fill Edge since after the SB year(which is true) and mentioned Anzalone, while saying SVD wasn’t all that good.

She’s absolutely right, and like Licht said in his most recent sitdown on the team site. We’ve got space to get better at a few different positions, even if it means cutting some guys on the potential clock, loose.
