A’Shawn Robinson Grew Up Violent

New Bucs defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson is known as a violent, physical defender. It’s an image he not only celebrates, but it’s quite accurate.
The violent nature of Robinson’s play is just a carryover from a defense mechanism he had to use growing up in Fort Worth, Tex. when bullies and loudmouths tried to take advantage of him. Wrong move.
“It comes from a little kid that they used to try to pick on for not having anything or being so poor,” Robinson said. “So know what I did every day? Whoop somebody’s ass. Every day. Every f’ing day you said something, I’d beat the sh!t out of you.
“So, that’s where that came from. Even in college, you joke around, I’m gonna beat your ass. So that’s just how I became. And I played the same way on the field.
“So now it’s like, you know, like people talk and try to do, like, dirty stuff [on the field to him] and I just got tired of it. So I just started letting people have it. Let them know that I’m gonna beat the sh!t out of them.”
And Robinson is confident his playing style — not dirty but aggressive with a take-no-s(p)it demeanor will rub off on the rest of the Bucs’ defense, specifically the front-seven.
This is exactly what the Bucs need. That Bucs defense last year and maybe for the past two years was softer than a newborn kitten. No attitude. No aggression (outside of maybe Tykee Smith and Vea). Just soft.
Nobody will ever call Robinson soft. Not without getting jacked up.

He played with guys like Dexter Manley, Joe Jacoby, Russ Grimm, Charles Mann, Mark May, Monte Coleman, Darrell Green, Art Monk, Doug Williams, Ricky Sanders etc
He never played with garbage like Bucs have

Yes he is a big man. Hopefully he helps. We still need a nasty edge rush guy!!. The Bucs just refuse to go there. The guy they got, appears to be a rotational player, not a starter. He now does not have anyone on the otherwise of him compared to the guy and team he just left. I don’t see 11 sacks. I admit he is a small hill , however we need a mountain!!. Then I think about MCColumn and Morrison on the back end. Yes I see a lot of points being given up. I am sorry still getting over ME leaving and agree with him the Buc philosophy is not working and they refuse to change. We may be headed back to the dark days. Sorry to be so negative, but I just don’t see it , the plan?. So now I guess they are going to draft an edge guy, well we know how that goes. Yes I have lost complete faith right now.

Didn’t Darrell Green put tootsie rolls in his socks before games for luck or because he thought it made him run faster or something? I can’t remember exactly why, but he def on the tootsie rolls in socks part….

We’re replacing both Hall & Gaines it looks like. Robinson is an excellent start, but we now need to draft a beastly NT/DT to pair with Vea & get younger for the future. Vita had way too many def snaps last season (763 the most of his career). We typically carry 5 DT/DEs and that’d be Vea, Robinson, a beastly rookie NT/DT, Kancey & Elijah Roberts. Add in 5-6 OLBs (Diaby, Muhammad, Nelson, Walker, Braswell, Kamara and/or a rookie) and we should be in relatively decent shape up-front.

so all the picks seem that licht did best he can do with the limitations the glazers put on him but this defense still needs alot of help. not sure drafting the 4th edge off the board will be the best move.

Defense is improved already with the draft yet to come 👍🏼
Wish we could have kept Dean – we’ll need another corner.
Overall. I’d give Todd and JL a grade of B so far in free agency. They’ve added obvious upgrades and didn’t overpay, leaving us more $ to play with later.

Vita Vea has a new playmate. Looks good so far. I saw Muhammad pictured in his earlier story. Muhammad has that look in his eyes. I believe Vita may have 2 new playmates. So far, so good.

Actually, given the age on the inside and the limited snaps Vita Vea plays another DT might still be in order. Three big bodies up front could stabilize a lot.
(Can’t count on Kancey).

Maybe his attitude will wear on Vita. Vita knocks people down, but I don’t recall him ever getting angry. An angry Vita would lay waste to an offense.

Robinson is going to be our Tommy Kelly, now we need Roberts(or draftee) to step up and be the Darnell Dockett-Calaias Campbell types on the interior. Somebody is going to read this and ask “wtf is he talking about?” 😂

Yes, I hope that he brings a heap of the attitude that Suh brought (minus the odd 15 yard penalty for, “Oops, didn’t mean to stomp on your throat, your – uh – protective cup, or whatever.”)
I am not saying that he will be playing at Suh’s level. But, his play is still likely a step up from what it is replacing, and the attitude is a big plus!

front 7 has improved but i feel like its hanging on by a thread . half of the front 7 is over 30 and you have injury prone kancey. dean and izien left. do the bucs draft i guard and a wr. licht may need to trade back
