Sean Tucker Gets A 1-Year Tender Offer

March 11th, 2026

The Bucs made their claim to have running back Sean Tucker return for a fourth season in Tampa. However, it’s unclear whether Tucker will sign the deal.

Before this afternoon’s NFL deadline, the Bucs slapped a $3.5 million restricted free agent tender on Tucker. That means he’ll earn $3.5 million for the 2026 season if he signs the offer sheet. Instead, Tucker could keep shopping around and the Bucs would get a chance to match any offer that came Tucker’s way.

Of course, if Tucker doesn’t sign, the Bucs can pull the offer at any time, making Tucker a true free agent.

Bucs fans know Tucker well. He’s the guy Bucs coaches always say needs more touches — but he doesn’t get more touches. Tucker didn’t help his value last season when he had a rough finish carrying the ball and wasn’t good all year as a kick returner.

Still, Tucker has lots of talent and seems capable of carrying the mail as a fill-in No. 1 back. He’ll be a third-stringer with the Bucs behind Bucky Irving and freshly-signed free agent Kenny Gainwell.

Solid move.

He’s solid and hope he stays, but all 3 backs are very similar. We need a thumper in the worst way.

  2. Bee Says:

A whole lot of one year deals. Almost like they’re planning for something next season.

  3. Scott193 Says:

Things are getting exciting in Tampa Bay…..

  4. LynchMob50 Says:

Short term low dollar deals. Genius.

Less money to the roster means more money for the new stadium.

Then we can proudly sell the fans on Toilet Bowles Swiss cheese defense.

    #SuperBowles

  5. Rod Munch Says:

I’m not that huge of a Tucker fan, but I have no issues with $3.5M as a 3rd stringer, who can at times have success starting. Just don’t let him pass block or Baker will end up on IR.

  6. Hopes on 2027 Says:

is a third-string running back worth that money? I don’t believe so.

Decent third-stringers can be gotten for less than that or drafted imo.

  7. HeartyDickerson Says:

The #Bucs are signing former #Panthers standout DL A’Shawn Robinson to a 1-year, $10M fully guaranteed deal, per The Insiders.

  8. Big_Buc$ Says:

So another 3.5 million spent. Tampa is also paying 3.5 to a punter that was 31st out 35 punters in the NFL last season.

Now we’re talking! This is a man, a big man, that will add meat to our DLine.

  10. Vanessa Anne Says:

Thank heavens for some positive news!

It’s been a heck of a week, lol.

The Bucs would be foolish to pull the offer. And foolish not to match any other higher offer Sean receives.

He’s done a very good job in the limited amount of playing time he’s gotten. I hope he gets more playing time in 2026.

He has a few things to work on, but this is still a bright spot in an otherwise crazy week.

  11. Rod Munch Says:

A’Shawn Robinson is certainly an upgrade over Logan Hall. Actually gives the Bucs a really nice defensive line with Vita, Kancey and Robinson.

At edge, everyone is freaking out, but keep in mind they really liked Walker, who is coming back, plus they’re almost certainly going to draft someone high. I’m not convinced edge is as big of an issue as people think.

  12. Lakeland Says:

    That’s another good signing

Sean Tucker will probably get more work this season
I don’t think Zach Robinson will feed Bucky as much as Grizz and Coen

And Kenneth Gainwell is a Swiss Army Knife
    A do-it-all back

  13. Erik with UniqueModernArt.com Says:

He should go somewhere that he has a chance to be RB1 because he is sorely misused/underutilized here. He deserves better.

    ————-

It’s good money for a third stringer – and yes you could get an UDFA or a draft pick for cheaper, but cap inflation means this is basically a $2M deal from 2 years ago, which people wouldn’t think much about.

Tucker isn’t as good as people think, but he is good for a 3rd stringer. So for $2M more than his cap hit, you get insurance at a key position and have an advantage in case of injury. Not a good deal, but not a bad deal – a fair deal.

    ———–

Well if other teams actually think he’s a #1, they can simply sign him for #1 money – the Bucs aren’t matching any offer like that.

In fact, any team could sign him for #2 money, and the Bucs still wouldn’t match it.

So we’ll see what the rest of the NFL thinks of him – if they just watch some YouTube highlights and think he’s a stud, or if they watch his actual game tape, see him whiff over and over again on blocks, not be able to run inside, and show pretty much zero vision or ability to cut on 90% of his runs.

  16. Pewter Power Says:

The #1 back on the roster now has the cheapest salary SMDH

Jason Licht is the most pathetic GM in the league for this one. another year of crying about the 3rd string backs carries? I’ve never seen a GM so scared to let go of players he signed. Your paying a 3rd string running back more than Bucky wow.

  17. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

DR is going to really like the A’Shawn Robinson signing coming. Stack the DLine like Seattle. Finally some good news!

  18. Buc2Blame Says:

Honestly why is Jason still employed. And let’s hope Ashawn isn’t a Chris Baker or a Albert Haynesworth.

  19. Scott Says:

AShawn has been on the decline for a while now and even Logan Hall graded out higher than him last year. And he cost 3 million more. Wtf is going on with Licht. These seem like desperate moves. Maybe Hall didn’t want to be here.

  20. Lakeland Says:

A’Shawn Robinson is a big solid 4-3 DT, and 3-4 DE or 3-4 NT

He a big guy, a natural run stopper, who eat up blockers

That’s a solid pickup by the Bucs

  21. BillyBucco Says:

AShawn signing really under the radar.
This is bigger news than we know.

  22. Oxycondomns Says:

    bucs getting panthers sloppy seconds

  23. Kenton Smith Says:

If you are a true sports fan, and felt the angst Coach Bowles was feeling after the second Falcons game. All of us could use a laugh right about now. And yes, winning is important. Augie Garrido. Longhorn baseball coach. Best locker room speech of all time. Worth the watch.

  24. Nicholas Carlson Says:

The just signed Whoshawn Whobinson. Very exciting

  25. Larrd Says:

Tucker has shown the ability to not play for six weeks then bust out a 100 yard game then back to the bench. I guess that’s perfect for 3rd string. Bucky needs to prove his rookie year wasn’t a mirage, or maybe Tucker gets more action, however.

  26. Drock Says:

    Much needed.

  27. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“A’Shawn Robinson is certainly an upgrade over Logan Hall. Actually gives the Bucs a really nice defensive line with Vita, Kancey and Robinson.“

I don’t think this is Halls’ replacement, but this is 100% slight upgrade over Gaines. Hall/Roberts played 4I and some 5-tech. Robinson will probably get worked in along with Simmons. Agree though, this is a good pickup and adding DeMonte Capehart would look good with these guys and can give you positional versatility as well.

I think we’re taking some of the eggs out of Kanceys’ basket. We still have him and he’s a defensive weapon when available, but we can’t be in a position to where we need him and have a steep drop in talent IF he is hurt(again). That’s not being negative, just being real

  28. Lakeland Says:

A’Shawn Robinson is a big ,nasty, physical mean D-Line beast
Kancey and Hall are too small for a 3-4 D-Line

They was getting pushed around too much

They can’t push A’Shawn Robinson and Vita Vea around
Those two guys are too big, nasty and too strong
    .

  29. Winny Testaverde Says:

I had never heard of A’Shawn Robinson and he’s a former division rival. At least the Bucs “only” paid him 10 million. Can’t even call it a Blue Licht Special at that bloated price. Shat Canning & Manning in 2027 continues.

  30. Scotty Mack Says:

Nobody is going to pay him more than $3.4 million.

Check that, the Browns have done more stupid things than any team in football history, so maybe he has a shot at +$5 million with them.

  31. Scotty Mack Says:

Erik with UniqueModernArt.com – “[Tucker] should go somewhere that he has a chance to be RB1 because he is sorely misused/underutilized here.”

I didn’t know they played football on Mars.

Seriously, though, he has a chance to be #1 with every team in the NFL if the #1 and #2 get injured!

  32. Nick jannette Says:

Hey we got A Shawn Robinson

  33. FortMyersDave Says:

The A’Shawn Robinson signing will bring a big body yto the DL. He was the Panthers starting nose tackle when derrick Brown was hurt. so he is a plus. As much as everyone want s to pile on Jason over not doing anything, this is a small positive but why doesn’t he even try to get an edge rusher? I get that no decent FA wants to play for Bowles but you’d think he could have done something. Shame on the Glazers for choosing Bowles over Mike Evans.

  34. Outrigger Says:

I’m sorry but I just don’t get some of JL’s signings. We spent $10 milllion a year on a 31 year old backup D Lineman. Devin Bush, one of the top ILB free agents was also paid $10 million a year and he would’ve been a starter and he’s in his 20s. Then they waste $10 million on Otten. What a joke

  35. Mobucs Says:

It’s just a slap in Turner’s face to have waited this long to tender him, and at rock bottom rate. But it means there must be some outside interest in him. Let’s hope he finds a better opportunity with greater appreciation of his talents. He’s only 24 years old with low mileage and three years NFL experience. Liam Coen may be watching.

  36. Bucscoott Says:

    Trade for Queen

  37. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

Beef up the DLine, like we’ve been preaching about for 3 years, and maybe we’ll have a chance. Getting abused at the DLine (not looking at you Vita) is embarrassing and makes for a long depressing game.

  38. Bucfan1988 Says:

Don’t think A-Shawn Robinson is gonna be a backup DT…

They gonna plug him next to Vita and SEAL up the middle with the 2 of them…

Robinson is very active when it comes to tackles for a DT…
Averaged almost 4 per game last year, and 5 per game in 2024…..

    I hope he’s not a backup….

This could be a great acquisition by Licht….

  39. Larrd Says:

Robinson seems like a more natural DT than Hall, who seemed like a tweener. They should commit to four down linemen, trade for Mad Maxx, draft all defense, and hire Jim Schwartz. WTH not? They could sell a few tickets, go to the Super Bowl and save Bowles’s job.

  40. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Funny, I really don’t have any real problem with the players they’ve signed. It’s the moves not made that are driving me crazy

  41. exBrowns02 Says:

Tucker is young, strong and healthy. And deadly in the open field. He hasn’t been fully utilized. This had to be another decision that ZR weighed in on.

  42. Day 1-76 Says:

Sweet, A’Shawn Robinson. Licht should add as many people as he can who are at the end of their careers, like he hopefully is.

  43. Lakeland Says:

Sean Tucker is our best tough yards RB

Last season he had 86 carries, 22 First Downs, 7 TDs

Bucky had 173 carries, 32 First Downs, 1 TD

And Tucker haven’t lost a fumble during his 3 years here

  44. thebigsombrero Says:

Tucker has been underutilized for 3 years.

What are we doing here? Seriously? This is a clown show.

The Glazers obviously are punting this year. I hope the local media finally gets up the courage to ask some tough questions.

    Bizarro world.

  45. Kenton Smith Says:

Ok! One Beast down, one to go. Looks like we may be going edge and ILB first 2 rounds. Kancey will play end more often. Maybe Walker pops? What was a weakness last season might be a strength this year. Sometimes we’re closer than we think.

  46. Whatevs Says:

Where’s the cap space? We need more overpaid free agents.

    10 years and 15 sacks.

    LOLOLOL.

  47. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“As much as everyone want s to pile on Jason over not doing anything, this is a small positive but why doesn’t he even try to get an edge rusher?“

Because they were either out of our price range, or not what they’re looking for talent wise. We’re not spending “you’re going to start” money, when we could do that with a draft pick and make him earn a spot. As it stands, Yaya is our only starter in the OLB room, the plan is probably to get some talented YOUNG players at a lower cost. We gave Reddick a starting job just based of his reputation, didn’t work out and now it seems like we’re trying something different.

I keep telling you guys, the key isn’t one 10-plus sack guy, we need to retool the entire rotation. Give me a guy like Malachi Lawerence if Howell doesn’t fall into our laps, he’d be a perfect addition IF you’re looking at him as part of the equation and not the answer all by himself.

  48. Whatevs Says:

Have you ever taken a snap in the NFL? Do you want millions of dollars?

    Bucs are looking for you.

The perfect Bucs free agent: no other team wants you, 39 years old, overweight, out of shape, one leg, played for a juco, wants 10 million and bakes cookies at Todd’s church.

The Bucs have a roster spot with your name on it. Only negative, you have to pay for your own daycare.

  49. StonedBucsFan Says:

Let him walk, sign a power back in the draft!

  50. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Kancey will play end more often.“

If anybody needs to be kicked outside or play that 5-tech, it’s going to be Elijah Roberts. Got the length, sneaky get off, though I don’t think he bends with the best of them it doesn’t matter.

There were times, he was bullying the hell out of offensive guards, it’s just that he wasn’t filling his rush lanes as reliably as others ahead of him. While he improves there, put him outside and let him put paws on a couple of OTs playing contained and let’s see what happens.

First NFL offseason too, expecting he and Parrish to come back bigger and stronger

  51. Whatevs Says:

I think the Bucs 1987 replacement team has more talent than the 2026 Bucs.

    Hey Hey Tampa Bay

  52. Lakeland Says:

I still think we can get 3-4 quality starters from the draft
And they won’t be 30+ years old with a 4 year $120 million contract

The contract of our 15th pick will be 4 years $22.785 million range

  53. ElioT Says:

    Apathy

  54. BigZ Says:

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Waste of money. Not because of Tuck but JL. When you signed Gainwell you did not need Tuck. A third string back is what the draft is for you dolt.
So Bucky is the starter but lowest paid on the roster..
I suspect hes not happy about this.

Ive said for years this GM is overrated, he now sucks out load.
So 10.5 mil per in rb 2 and 3. Dumb. Thats why you lose.

  55. Crazyhorse54 Says:

Wow. Someone is passing out the kool aid. This is a 6-11 team at best. Walker at ILB? He’s never played a down. LVD? Nuf sed. Voss? LOL please put the Kool aid cup down. Snap back to reality. The head coach is only liked around the league because he’s so easy to beat. OCs love him. His D quit on him. You really think they will rally to him this season? What gives you that idea when Evans voted with his feet and left. He knows. The team knows. The fans know. This is a horrible franchise. It will be a nightmare of a season. Brace yourself.

  56. Whatevs Says:

Of course Jason will be able to select the next Buc great DE/OLB. He has done it so many times.

Future Ring of Honor Licht Picks: JTS, Logan Hall, Chris Braswell.

They are going to need to add another level to Ray Jay to fit all the Licht’s Losers up there.

  57. Steve V. Says:

How bout some cheese with that wine

  58. Simeon4HOF Says:

Did we sign A’Shawn Robinson DT

  59. Miller5252 Says:

I’m sure Jason is finally relieved. 3 days of hard negotiations and he was able to get Tucker back. Now he can sign Evans, Hendrickson, maybe Chubb too oh and an inside LB’er….. oh wait…. You mean he missed all those because he was signing Tucker and stone hands Otton….. at least they are “that man”. Could have signed people that were better at those positions than “shock the world guys” that play for Bucs…..didn’t want to over pay for older guys that are damaged the same way we did for JPP with a broken neck. We got guys that haven’t had a week of practice yet since becoming a pro that we’re gonna bank on…. Super idea Jason!! Week 6 when we’re 0-6 you better be ready to send Bowles and all these shock the world superstars down the road

  60. Eckwood Says:

If Kancey is playing de you are hurt , like exhibition team hurt .

  61. Simeon4HOF Says:

We signed A’Shawn Robinson. So upgraded over Hall abd Dennis

  62. Kenton Smith Says:

WBL. How can you not like Elijah? Inside, Outside, the dude is a good football player. And his mom oughta sing the National Anthem at every home game.

  63. Bobby M. Says:

Just the way we’re going about this offseason, I get the impression it’s boom or bust this year. I think Evans and every other free agent might be interpreting a similar situation. It feels like if Bowles fails to deliver, we’re headed to a complete rebuild….that to me is what Evans was not comfortable with.

We’re doing a lot of short term deals, a lot of value shopping…no major commitments financially. Bucs can cut ties with several vets next year with minimal consequences. Godwin can easily be cut or traded, Vea is due for a contract, as is Baker. Lavonte will simply retire…Winfield can be unloaded. Wirfs, McCollum, Otton and Goedke might be the only few that would have to be held on to.

  64. Badbucs Says:

Overpaying for all the FA so far. Otton, Gainwell, Anzalone, now Robinson. About 2mil a year extra for each. Could have gotten Devin Bush with that money. JL is not able to negotiate. Overpaying guru. At least he got a DL and LB before the draft. Puncher’s chance now if he doesn’t screw up the draft.

  65. Simeon4HOF Says:

    We’re suddenly good at IDL.
Defense an Edge and CB away
    If David comes back

1st 3 picks have to be Edge, CB, ILB
    Then Oline depth
And we have have a chance to hold off the Panthers

  66. Darin Says:

U guys are excited over ashawn robinson? Theyre gona stop the run again this year yay! Guy gets cut and the bucs give him a raise. Unreal. But yes ok great lets get back to leading the league in rush defense so everyone decides to throw every play and score quicker

  67. Nicholas Carlson Says:

I’ve come around on Robinson. Reminds me of Gholston a little

  68. Simeon4HOF Says:

Better than drafting a DL high

  69. Simeon4HOF Says:

Trying to be positive after 3 days of suffering lol

  70. Simeon4HOF Says:

So we are set at RB and DL. Got a better LB, No hole at TE, who stats it up when Mike is out.
S is set. Yaya is fine. Need an Edge and Solod CB.
    Trade up for Arvil Reese.
    Do it for Tampa JL

  71. Bucfan1988 Says:

    People not understanding A-Shawn Robinson…
Dude is 320 lbs and plays hard as hell…

This guy averaged almost 4 tackles a game last year as an interior clogging d-lineman….Averaged 5 tackles per game in 2024!!

This guy has better production than most guys his size….

    I don’t want him as a backup…
I want him starting next to Vea!!

We had run defense issues popping up last year..
Let’s get back to a solid run defense again for starters…
    Just my thoughts…

The guy may be 31 years old but he’s decent quality…

  72. Bucfan1988 Says:

We still need a veteran edge presence in free agency so we don’t pigeon-hole ourselves in the draft…..

I still want Sonny Styles if at all possible….

If he’s gone then I’ll take that other Miami edge rusher that played opposite of Ruben Bain in the 1st round…
I want Anthony Hill Jr in 2nd round…ILB that is a hitting machine that ran 4.52 at the combine….Perfect guy to put next to Anzalone….

    3rd round CB

    4th round TE

Then BPA rest of the rounds

  73. Simeon4HOF Says:

If we dont trade up for Reese or Styles, which we wont these days lol
I love a Ahkeem Mesidor Rd1 Anthony Hill Jr. Rd2 Draft
    Then CB Rd3 and he’s right a TE Rd4, OL Rd5, BPA depth Rds6,7

  74. Canabuc Says:

Ashwani Robinson to the Bucs. Upgrade in the trenches.

  75. Canabuc Says:

Now our first 3 picks will be edge ILB and either another edge or a DT.
4th rounder if still there or if we trade back for another pick will be Fields to give us the big body Evans replacement.

  76. Oxycondomns Says:

back to the post super bowl gruden days having to rely on over 30 year olds free agents . pattern developing with the glazers
