Bradley Chubb Signs With The Bills

March 11th, 2026

Bucs GM Jason Licht.

The Bucs are running out of supremely talented pass rushers to sign.

Free agent edge rusher Bradley Chubb, the former first-round pick who had 8 1/2 sacks in 17 games with the Dolphins last season, will be signing a three-year, $43.5 million deal with the Bills, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. The contract includes includes $29 million in guarantees and $9 million in incentives.

That’s just about Haason Reddick money, albeit on a multi-year deal.

Joe has seen the ESPN report that the Bucs were chasing Trey Hendrickson but didn’t want to sign him to the four-year deal he got from the Ravens. Schefter had reported that 31-year-old Hendrickson, coming off surgery, wanted to play for Tampa Bay. Joe guesses the desire wasn’t significant.

Were the Bucs in the Hunt for Chubb? It doesn’t matter much now.

dont worry guys we got jake browning

  2. Scott Says:

Would love to see Clowney on the Bucs

  3. Tom Edrington Says:

Obviously at JBF headquarters there is weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth….do you guys honestly think the Bucs were going to chase high dollar guys???

  4. Costa Rica John Says:

If they stand pat we should get some compensatory picks in 2027. šŸ˜‚

  5. BucThis Says:

This front office sucks. I’m all for cleaning house at the end of this season. First one that needs to be fired or access denied at One Buc is Bruce Arians for forcing this Todd Bowles Dumpster fire on us. Licht can get canned too.

  6. Day 1-76 Says:

Browning, Anzalone, and Gainwell. A who’s who of who cares. No one wants to play for this inept braintrust.

  7. johnnythemoon Says:

We got Nelson and Braswell … We good!

  8. 3rd and 28: Says:

Can’t believe how far we’ve fallen. Onward to the next Lost Decade!

  9. Dre_bucsfan Says:

For some reason i believe somewhere somehow Licht trades for a pass rusher who we didn’t think would be available! In Licht we trust…#BROWNS

  10. Mexican Buc Says:

    Reddick is still available. Jajaja

  11. Billlbuc Says:

Jason is not doing anything . He only works the 1st day or two of FA . Then nothing . This team became boring overnight some how . No excitement . A couple mid range signing does not move the needle. He had a chance and I guess is ready to move on with Bowles after this season. You can’t address everything in the draft . He hasn’t been that good . After we lost Mike he should have got motivated to use that money we would have spent on Mike to improve the team . He did nothing .

  12. Lefty R Says:

Well, there is still always Maxx Crosby

Either that or trade up to get Rueben Bain – Miami 6’ 3ā€ 275 – 21 years old

But apparently he has T Rex Arms lol

  13. Scott Says:

Clowney or Bosa would be better than Chubb. Licht… get it done!

  14. Ballwasher61 Says:

These guys are getting wayyyyy over paid and in the coming years it will show. Now does Licht go after Crosby for less change? Stipulations for his play and health?

  15. BucsFan81 Says:

Bowles does not need pass rushers. He would just drop them in coverage and have them run 30 yards downfield with a running back lol

  16. Wouldn’t pay a single Buc to see this squad Says:

Hit snooze for this year and wake up when Todd is gone. This year will be uglier than Oprah naked.

  17. Nick jannette Says:

Get Bain jr. In draft but you can’t sit around you gotta spend to get quality

  18. Ballwasher61 Says:

The one thing I do applaud Licht for is not over paying for the talent and that can go for the number of years in the contract as well. Hell what guy wouldn’t want a 3-4 year contract at their age but lest we forget, they can get cut as well but depending on what the contract says may be paid for sitting. At least Licht isn’t doing that. To be honest I think he’s scared of exactly that. They hit the lightening in a bottle with Brady and the others and it paid off, now time to reset.

  19. Bejeezusbelt Says:

There will be no edge help. Top five pick in 2027 to come. Glazers should fire everyone. Everyone. Complete new regime. As Joe would say, this is malpractice for team to go this long without a sniff of a pass rush. I now have to look at you Licht can’t believe you haven’t learned. Everyone is derelict of their duties at this point. It really is disgusting how this is just shrugged it off, disgusting. We better score 50 a game to have a chance to win.

  20. Buxfanintx Says:

We are still shopping the clearance aisle I see….

  21. LynchMob50 Says:

Licht and the Glazer kids must be watching old re-runs of Seinfeld instead of working.

“Everybody else is doing something, we’ll do nothing!” – George Costanza (Licht)

“I think you might have something here!” – Jerry Seinfeld (Glazer Kids)

    “Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!” – The entire NFL

  22. buc4evr Says:

We don’t need Crosby, we signed Nelson…. lol. It’s like Licht goes into hibernation during free agency. It’s all about drafting obscure players from division 3 schools for Jason. I can’t get upset at this point, the Bucs have already tanked before the first game.

  23. Buddha Says:

I see no value in signing 30+ year old pass rushers with declining ability and coming off injuries. The front office believes that a healthy offensive line will dominate and the Buccaneers will score 4-5 more points a game. I think that is possible, though not guaranteed. We will see. The draft will focus on defense and Licht’s recent drafts have been quite good. Looks like we will draft a cornerback first; then a linebacker and/or defensive lineman.

  24. DanBucsFan Says:

So farm pretty ROUGH start to the season with free agency. IT’ A BUCS LIFE BAY BAY!

  25. Jw94buc Says:

They better draft David Bailey with 15…

  26. Defense Rules Says:

Super impressed Joe that JBF is keeping track of everyone else’s free agent signings.

If JBFers type in ā€˜NFL free agency tracker 2026’ in their search box and select the CBS Sports entry that pops up, they’ll find an excellent recap of what each team has done in FA.

Guess which team has done the LEAST? Yup, our Bucs. Compare that to what some other teams have done; for starters, the Raiders, the Giants, the Chargers. Then look at what the other NFC South teams have done in free agency. It almost looks like no one told Jason Licht that free agency has started.

  27. Tbbbucsfan Says:

It’s pretty clear the Glazers have hamstrung Jason pretty hard these past couple years after spending with Brady. They don’t care about winning. Take a look at Man U.

I’ll make sure to buy no tickets or merchandise this year. Best I can do.

  28. Dubcity6 Says:

    NO RISK-IT JASON

The love he gets is unfounded. Egbuka is a bust after this year, watch.

  29. TheScourge Says:

Jason Licht, The Dollar General Manager. Waiting to go get those bargain bin treasures.

  30. Beeej Says:

We’re getting down to Bosa/Von Miller area now

  31. Lakeland Says:

Jason Licht is doing exactly what he should be doing

I’m ok with the Bucs moves

  32. Bucs And Them Says:

This is looking more and more like we are resetting for Mike Tomlin after this upcoming season. We reached out to Harbaugh. He declined. Then Tomlin leaves Pittsburg. He wants to take a year off. So, the Bucs unceremoniously retain Bowles. Hire Steelers special teams coach. Make no major FA moves. No contract restructures. Grab Steelers running back. Tomlin is close with Dungy. Dungy is close with the Bucs. We’ll probably draft defense heavy but may take a few surprise offensive picks. A best player available strategy to set up for Tomlin next year. This is what looks like is happening.

  33. Saskbucs Says:

Does it even matter!? I know to the players on the roster it will and should but to the rest of us?

They might as well tank, have no edge rush again cause it’s not needed for the guru.

Anything the Bucs do is just spinning their wheels under Todd.

If there was a new coach and Mike Evans still in town, then I would sweat the lack of an edge signing.

As it stands, I’m the opposite of the guys that hope SF sucks. I can’t wish for the Bucs to suck but if they win 5 games, Bowles gets fired and they have a high pick, maybe a comp pick or 2 for losing Evans, Dean, White… things will be looking up again for 2027.

  34. Mike Johnson Says:

Open the door wide NFL. 2026 Mediocrity here comes our beloved Bucs under the leadership of Todd Custer Bowles and General , I willnot pay that much, Licht

  35. LJ Says:

Tomlin instructed them to just get the highest draft pick they can this year before he gets here.

  36. Rod Munch Says:

Good move not to sign Chubb.

  37. ā€˜74 Bucs Fan Says:

    Hey Jason – Boooooooo!

You’ve weakened the team. I’m about done with the Licht Bowles clown show.

  38. Lakeland Says:

If Jason Licht throw big money at these free agents, and they wet the bed

These same Buc fans will be calling for his job

  39. Miller5252 Says:

There’s no more ā€œI am that manā€ guys left it seems. All those FA and we were able to find 2. ā€œI am that manā€ David must be looking around at the same crappy D and wondering why he would want to come back to finish last in the worst division in football. Jason, you don’t have enough draft picks to fill all the giant holes you have on D!!! Should have fired Bowles so David could retire and Evans would have stayed with the right coach!! I keep seeing ā€œhe’s too oldā€ or ā€œhis knee is goneā€ or ā€œhe’s injury proneā€ā€¦ā€¦ they’re still better than what we got and what’s out there!!! Jason must be banking on a lot of practice squad guys to shock the world again this year!!! What a joke!

  40. DailyRich Says:

Same people who were all “We’re gonna scrape the bottom of the barrel for guys like Chubb” are now moaning because we didn’t give Chubb $44 million….

  41. BigMacAttack Says:

Lowball offers, always going cheap. And why would anyone want to play for this head coach? Why did ME13 really leave? Yeah, why waste another year? And maybe great pass rushers don’t want to drop back in coverage 3-4 times a game. The rate of the leader determines the rate of the pack. They were super cheap when Rah was coach and they hung him out to dry. It’s back to that same mantra. Why not get Bobby Wagner and Lavonte David?

  42. Stpetematt Says:

I don’t know if there were more than a couple of supremely talented pass rushers in this free agent group…what there was is a ton of way overpriced players for what you are getting. Paying over 1 million per sack (or even 2 million!) is ludicrous. There’s still an outside chance David Walker and Yaya blow up this season and we have a ton of sacks even without a (hopefully) very stout draft class that costs way less money.

  43. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Joe, any word on Bucky Irving, who was not tendered and is a free agent?

  44. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Build through the draft!

  45. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

Clowney or Bosa, Almost no rookie edge makes an impact and certainly won’t on this team. If they do nothing they are telling us it’s rebuilding time. Which we all already knew. Do your job Jason.

  46. sBucs Says:

Someone please wake Jason up then explain how the Bucs require a better defense prior to the next football season.

  47. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Everything will be fine

  48. Simeon4HOF Says:

    Just run a 3-3-5 defense

  49. Okiejim Says:

In 1975 NFL draft, the 12 picks the Dallas Cowboys chose ALL made the team and set foundation for Super Bowl success. Jump to 2026 and the Bucs have 7 draft picks and with the correct picks the correct picks The Bucs could have the magnificent 7 and a Super Bowl trip!

  50. Kgh4life Says:

At this point Joey Bosa is a viable option or the Muhammed guy from the Lions

  51. BucsNbeer Says:

Surprise, Surprise, nobody wants to sign with the Bucs and their lame duck coach.

  52. Football 1 Says:

Really really had to be a Buc fan right now!!!. I wish they would tell us their plan is. It now appears they are now on a rebuild the team with the draft. So no wonder ME left guess they told him the same. This is a really scary defense. Morrison, McColumn your starting corners, yikes. Then add that with a sad front 7 and we have the new making of the Yucs. I think I want to go and watch Mike and SF. They are making some moves. However, the Bucs have a blueprint they are following. We just don’t understand it just like ME.

  55. Badbucs Says:

    Ballwasher

JL doesn’t have any money to overpay for FA because he already spent it all overpaying for all the extensions. 6 guys over 20 mill. All but 1 paid way too much and then 16mil wasted on McCollum. You can’t pat JL on the back for that mess.

  56. Aaron Says:

I honestly believe that this is a “what do we have in Baker year”. As bad as our D was last year, Baker did have chances to put us in a position to win some games late in the season and didn’t do it…I say position since our D would / could give up 30yrds in 15 secs to give up the game winning field goal. It was concerning how bad Baker played the 2nd half of the season…

I think the Glaziers want to know if they can build a team around him or do they need to just start over. We have a ton of high dollar vets on this team – so we could just let everyone go – take a huge cap hit in a single year…start new.

This is going to be painful to watch – Go Bucs!!!

  57. Homerjmitc Says:

To the ā€œ fan ā€œ that asked if they is any news on Bucky who is a free agent and non tendered, please go away…. He is not a free agent it’s actually embarrassing

  58. Rod Munch Says:

I’m shocked that star players aren’t beating down the doors at One Buc Place demanding to play with Baker. Heck even Otton wouldn’t take a hometown discount to play with Baker. Evans took a lower offer from the 49ers.

Says everything about what players really think of Baker, and how he choked last year with the playoffs on the line – in addition to his 4th quarter chokes in the playoffs vs the Lions and Redskins.

Calm down people, Bonzai has been around here forever – he’s just a drunkard and he obviously meant Tucker.

For the answer, Tucker was given the lowest tender possible, of $3.5M, so the Bucs have the right to match any deal he gets, but the Bucs would get no draft pick comp if he leaves.

  60. Inwoodjeremy Says:

Has that 4 years away kinda vibe to me. Get younger, save money, get coaches, get big name FA’s year 3 and 4 for the push. The window closed and now it’s got to be reshaped. Fells like I’m about to watch 20 preseason Bucs football games in a row.

  61. BucsfaninOregon Says:

I have to laugh, even though I agree with them, when they pick a player: Crosby, Chubb, Herndrickson and others when they say to Licht, “Get it done!”

Clearly, this pathetic GM and owners are NOT going to get anything done in FA.

To expect them to was delusional.

  62. DungyDance Says:

Just trade away AWJ, McMillan, and Vea and be done with it. Surrender 2026 just like we did with kickoffs last year. Wtf.

  63. Dreday Says:

  64. Scott193 Says:

  65. LynchMob Says:

The #Bucs are signing former #Panthers standout DL A’Shawn Robinson to a 1-year, $10M fully guaranteed deal, per The Insiders. A raise after he was due to make $8.5M with Carolina.

Robinson’s deal was done by agents Sean Kiernan and Travis Allen of @AthletesFirst.

  66. Scott Says:

Licht gave Reddick 14 million after a terrible year. He needs to pay Bosa or Clowney that… they would be worth the money way more than washed up Reddick. It seems like his tail is between his legs afraid to make a mistake again or something.

  67. Tom Says:

This is all due to the Glazers and Arians Social Engineering. NOT putting competence above politics. FIRE TOILET BOWLES!!!

  68. ā€˜74 Bucs Fan Says:

Really hope Licht is working on a trade or something for an Edge of DL and is not relying on the draft. If he’s thinking draft, that dude has learned zero and is losing his marbles. Or if he says that Walker or Braswell are going to shock people, we’ll need to have him committed. He already believes that Bowles can inspire people and lead. Poor Licht is slipping in the head.

  69. exBrowns02 Says:

As a junior in tenure here, I’ve had to come up to speed on the workings of the organization.

In watching JL last year at this time I was wondering why he didn’t make any substantial moves at the beginning of FA. I figured that he had some other strategy. He didn’t.

Does this guy have a pulse? Creativity wouldn’t be possible without one.

What a joke this guy is. The feelings regarding Mayfield are certainly split, with the majority in favor. The opinion on Bowles is close to unanimous- -way negative. Yet the self described Oracle of Dale Mabry hangs our lack of appeal to FA on Baker Mayfield. I can’t describe how incredibility XXXX this is.

XXXX = the words that would put me in Joe’s jail.

  71. Hopes on 2027 Says:

stop looking at these old guys as saviors… the production falls off quickly after turning 30.

You spend all your money on one guy, if he doesn’t deliver you have no team around him.

  72. Usfbucs Says:

Just wait, they are getting set for the future.

Next year Mike Tomlin will be the HC, Sean McDermott will be the DC, Zac Robinson will be the OC, and Danny Smith will be the SC.

Remember it’s all about the connections.

Mike Tomlin is connected to the Bucs as a former position coach and through his friendship with Ronde Barber who is still active as a personality around the Bucs and who I think will be getting more involved with the team in the near future. Tomlin hasn’t had a losing season so he told the Bucs I will come on board after you tank so I can draft a QB of my choosing.

Tomlin wanted to hire Robinson to be the OC of the Steelers but Robinson went to the Falcons. So there is our connection there. Robinson is here a year early because offenses take longer to get up to speed than defenses so ge has time to get most of the offensive pieces in sync.

Sean McDermott will be the defensive coordinator because he and Mike Tomlin are friends and teammates from college. They both attended William & Mary and the Bucs have already reached out to Sean publically this off season.

Danny Smith is obviously already here as the SC. Not only was he the SC under Tomlin but he was a coach at William & Mary. If Smith had some overlap with McDermott other than the William & Mary connection it would really sell my theory.

Meanwhile every player poll, private comments, etc, talk about how the players love Bowles.

I’m not a Bowles fan – but the idea that Baker is a draw, after he went into the tank and cost the Bucs a playoff spot, is insane. Evans voted with his feet, told you what he really thinks, would rather play with the last pick in the draft over the first.

  74. LOLatRodMunch Says:

    @ RodMunch

You are so idiotic. Do you not realize how many injuries he played with last year? 5. You know, because they could not get a competent backup to rest him. He alerted it only started playing bad when the injuries piled up. But no delusional people like you are blind with hate boners. Before all of those injuries, he was literally a mvp candidate. Injuries cause a lot of problems.Something delusional people like you don’t understand

How many defenders are lining up to pay for bowles?

Also we have 180m in cap towards the offense. 102m on defense. We don’t need anymore on offense than what we already got. We need Defense. You know, the part of the team that allows perennial backup quarterbacks to have career games for multiple years, not just half a year.

You’re small hate boner is showing and its embarrassing

See, I thought it was because he wanted to play for a coach who is regarded as a genius, not one who is incompetent. Not sure how Baker got involved but you know, when you hate a guy as much as Munch does, there’s a way to spin everything into a Baler negative.

Asked Munch and every other Baker hater on this website before who the Bucs should have taken at QB at the time Baker was grabbed and anytime afterward and it’s been nothing but crickets.

  89. LakelandSteve Says:

Is the waterboy available? I know he is a little old but we could get more sacks out of him than Reddick got. Don’t worry Licht the waterboy is a fictional character but you might have more luck with him than any edge rusher you allegedly tried to sign

  90. Crazyhorse54 Says:

What millionaire edge rusher who is set for 10 lifetimes want to come to Tampa. The Bucs were exposed by Evans and the word spread like wildfire. There won’t be any signings of significance. There are now more holes on this team than ever. The Bucs can’t even get their own RB to sign a tender. Oh, how the once mighty have fallen. Glazers, you brought this on yourselves. Why on earth would you have extended this incompetent HC? Why would you allow him to continue to have a dual role? Why? Your commitment to a failed ideology has killed your franchise.

  91. Eckwood Says:

This Def may be really really bad !! you’re gonna be lucky to get one and a half meaningful starters out of the draft. The season ticket sales are not going to flourish with what the Owners and Light have done over the past two years.

*If only Tom was 2 years younger and not distracted (think Belichick would have let him be distracted).*

The problem is he can’t win with anything less!

His only wins without high end offensive production are due to opponents incompetence. The guy can’t outscheme anyone anymore and he refuses to change or adapt. He calls conservative, play not to lose football and he can only win with that aforementioned, high end offensive production. It’s insane.

  93. Tom Petty Says:

Well, that’s @ LEAST 3/4 of the defenses in the league. It ain’t the 60s anymore. Edges dropping into coverage is just another dead horse some people continue to beat.

  94. Get-Rid-of-Licht Says:

I think Bucs fans should just accept the team for what it is – 17 winning seasons out of 50 – 34%
    John McKay – 3 winning seasons out of 9 coached – 33%
Bennett Williamson Perkins Wyche – 0 of 11 coached
    Father Dungy – 4 of 6 coached – 66%
    Chuckle – 4 of 7 coached – 57%
    Morris Schiano Smith Koetter – 2 of 10 coached – 20%
    Charlie McCarthy Arians \ Edgar Bergen Brady – 2 of 3 – 66%
    Dear Leader Todd Bowles – 2 out of 4 coached – 50%
so you see, Bucs fans, Bowles is a better than average Bucs leader –
in fact he’d have to orchestrate two more losing seasons to drop to ā€œaverageā€ –
put a smile on your face ! the 2026 season is a mulligan !!!

  95. Get-Rid-of-Licht Says:

I’d like to expand on my previous analysis of Bucs history – which indicates that the Bucs should hang onto Bowles as long as possible – to wit –
John McKay was the first Bucs coach – ROH – 3 winning seasons
THEN four disaster coaches with NO winning seasons
THEN two good coaches Dungy ROH Gruden ROH with 8 winning seasons
THEN four disaster coaches with TWO winning seasons
THEN two good coaches Arians ROH Bowles with 4 winning seasons so far
so you see, if Bowles is fired then the Bucs have to go through 4 disastrous
coaches and maybe a decade before they start winning again –
to avoid this fate the Bucs need to keep Bowles the HC indefinitely
