Bradley Chubb Hits The Open Market
February 16th, 2026The following sentence applies to all available edge rushers who, if motivated, the Bucs could sign:
Beggars can’t be choosers.
Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Dolphins are expected to release former star edge rusher Bradley Chubb. The two-time Pro Bowler turns 30 in June (danger Will Robinson!) but he did have 8.5 sacks last year for the lousy Dolphins, which is more than any Bucs player has had since 2021.
The 8.5 sacks last season was the third-most of Chubb’s career.
Chubb blew out his knee and missed all of 2024 but bounced back nicely, starting all 17 games for the lowly Dolphins.
If the Bucs could get Chubb on a team-friendly, incentive-laden contract, of course, he would be a fine addition.
The free agency dinner bell rings three weeks from today at noon.
Sources: The #Dolphins and two-time Pro Bowl pass-rusher Bradley Chubb are parting ways, making the 29-year-old a free agent.
In his two full seasons with the Dolphins (2023 & 2025), Chubb has 20 sacks, 8 FF, and 117 tackles. He should have a nice market. pic.twitter.com/u19NEaBZV9

Damaged goods .. have to be cheap
February 16th, 2026 at 10:10 am
Has had three acl tears during his football career. Hard pass.
February 16th, 2026 at 10:15 am
Keep buying from the bargain bin. Licht’s Losers.
Can’t draft talent, can’t train talent, no longer have the Brady pull, another season of Licht’s Losers led by the Genius Todd Bowles.
Man how about those one year prove it deals, that is HoF level GMing.
What a trash organization.
February 16th, 2026 at 10:19 am
Pass.
I think the overall goal is to find a free agent who can start for 2-3 years, giving a draft pick time to develop.
February 16th, 2026 at 10:23 am
We can’t just say PASS unless there is someone better.
There is just not that many answers and a ton of questions.
February 16th, 2026 at 10:24 am
If Chubb has anything left in the tank then there will be a lot of suitors checking him out.
BTW Chubb was taken in the same draft class (the Baker Mayfield draft) where the Bucs traded down with the Bills for Vea, Carlton Davis and that bust MJ Stewart along with Jordan Whitehead after the Bucs traded down a bit with the Pats with one of their 2nd round picks they got from Buffalo. Chubb went #5 to the Broncos. Quentin Nelson went #6 to Indy and the Bucs let the Bills take Josh Allen at #7. I guess it was a win-win trade for both the Bills and the Bucs as Vea has been a solid anchor on the DL and Davis was a serviceable but often injured CB. However, the Bucs could have had Chubb or Nelson if the Bucs did not upset the Saints on the last game of 2017, that Winston to Godwin pass cost the Bucs a few spots in the draft order. Its a Bucs life.
February 16th, 2026 at 10:25 am
Remember when the Bucs played the Dolphins last year, and the Dolphins won with a 5th string QB? Bradley Chubb probably does. Why would he want to play in a lousy Bowles system?
February 16th, 2026 at 10:29 am
Reddick 2.0 will probably only come here to collect a check.
February 16th, 2026 at 10:37 am
Off topic:
“Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Union published that Players criticized the locker room, lodging ‘several complaints about cleanliness, including poor ventilation and a persistent bad smell.”
If that is the only complaint, cool. After reading the complaints on other teams, the Bucs are doing well on their report card.

Oh yes we can. Sticking with current players and/or draft picks is better. Development.
February 16th, 2026 at 10:41 am
Pass. 30. Torn ACL. Reddick again.
February 16th, 2026 at 10:45 am
Yeah like Bucs have developed so MANY edge rushers-LOL
February 16th, 2026 at 10:49 am
Chubb had 8.5 sacks in 2025…I think we could all get past the ACL injury that cost him his 2024 season in MIA, if he was to get Bucs medical staff clearance for a FA signing…However, I just don’t see Licht forking out the coin Chubb will want/command in FA – should he be released.
Which if MIA is going to do that, it should be as a post-June 1 designate to save $20M of his $30M+ cap number in 2026…(Unless there is some contract renegotiation on-going that would be better, more agreeable terms for both parties)
It seems MIA is in a real pickle…Tua, Tyreek Hill & Chubb are all rumored as being out in MIA…They account for >$138M in 2026 Cap Space….That’s a ton of money…For reference, it would cost MIA >$99M to cut Tua before the league starts & >$67M as a post-June 1st cut.
We though that the Bucs had a bad cap situation in the post-Brady years….MIA is saying “hold my beer!”
February 16th, 2026 at 11:00 am
8.5 sacks last year. I’m interested for sure. Can’t imagine he’s gonna get a long multi year deal.
One year prove it would be great.
February 16th, 2026 at 11:04 am
Why not sign him and still trade for someone! U can’t have enough productive dline!
February 16th, 2026 at 11:05 am
Chubb was scheduled to make around $20 Million in 2026. The Bucs spent $14 Million on Reddick who did absolutely nothing. JPP was 29 when he started with the Bucs to 33 and Suh was 32 to 34. I guess you’d have to see what he has left if anything.
February 16th, 2026 at 11:10 am
reddick didnt work out but it was a good gamble by JL and i’m no JL fan. trying to grab 8-10 or 12 sacks from the bargain bin is a good idea.
February 16th, 2026 at 11:17 am
Eh, kick the tires first to see what the price is for 1 year….
February 16th, 2026 at 11:22 am

With nothing to show for it, at least our guys had beers on boats with a trophy getting tossed around
February 16th, 2026 at 11:45 am
14 mill for almost no production is definitely no bargain
February 16th, 2026 at 11:55 am
Damn Dolphins are cutting everyone
February 16th, 2026 at 11:56 am
Licht should be on the phone to see who else they might be willing to move via a trade
February 16th, 2026 at 12:04 pm
Whatevs on his 12th user name. Congrats …..you’re the 12th man!
February 16th, 2026 at 12:10 pm
The has been Buccaneers are in deep deep trouble top to bottom. Owners HC/DC Staff and players. The odor of incompetence is wafting through 1 Buc Place again.
February 16th, 2026 at 12:20 pm
What does he cost Joe? Kind of crucial information for the article. Were you going to miss a deadline?
February 16th, 2026 at 12:20 pm
We don’t like signing Cubb because:
1. He’s damaged
2. Reddick was a failure
3. He’s a bargain bin player
(Number four is a doozy)

Oh yeah, “sticking with current players” is really working well for the Bucs. Look how well worked it worked with JTS (4 years?) and how well it’s working with Braswell!
I can think of a good reason not to sign players like Cubb:
5. Taking a once successful edge rusher and plugging him into the JL/TB system, something is going to blow up. Maybe even on Anthony Brown level.

For those who criticize Licht remember he put together the line that won a Super Bowl. (Vita, Barrett, JPP, Sue) Barrett was a 3 sack guy till Licht gave him a chance. JPP was strait up theft! Sue and Vita were monsters (one drafted and one Signed to a savvy deal) Rome wasn’t built in a day. Year four of a rebuild that resulted in three div. titles and one injury plagued regression……..be patient!
February 16th, 2026 at 12:50 pm
Chubb is projected to get a two year deal at $13-15 million per year. I’d definitely pich him up for that.
February 16th, 2026 at 12:51 pm
We should give Odafe Oweh a look
February 16th, 2026 at 12:52 pm
*Oweh is younger and has a higher ceiling.
February 16th, 2026 at 1:04 pm
One year “prove it” type deal – $5M salary plus $1M per sack…
No more – no less.
This dude is highly talented but extremely injury prone.
Only fools rush in.

I 100% agree, bringing in Reddick was a good gamble. Hindsight is always 20-20, so now, lots of people want to criticize it.
If I were the GM, I’d draft a couple of edge rushers and bring in the best coach I possibly can who has a track record, showing he can develop players.
I’d acquire an additional one via free agency as well if I could, but to acquire a proven edge rusher that way isn’t always doable for a reasonable price. There were only 10 edge rushers in the entire NFL last season with 10 or more sacks, and the teams that have them aren’t going to give them up easily, if at all.
If we were just a couple players away from being a legitimate Super Bowl contender, I’d do whatever it takes to acquire Maxx Crosby, but we have so many needs that it seems like it’s going to take a couple of seasons to fix that defense.
February 16th, 2026 at 1:33 pm
For the right price, yes. Still only 29 and can get after the QB. As long as the price is right and we dont think the pass rush is solved with one signing like last year.
YaYa
Chubb
Walker
Draft pick
Sign and draft a DT.
Pass rush would be much better
February 16th, 2026 at 2:05 pm
Nobody has gotten 8.5 or more sacks on this team since 2021. That’s truly pathetic.
February 16th, 2026 at 2:29 pm
Knowing ur Bucs, they won’t aggresively go after Crosby. And they will say Chubb is damaged goods. Ed Result? No pass rush again next season. We always find excuses. Just remember guys, YOU GOTTA WANNA BE GREAT. And I don’t think the Glazers have that vsision. They like average or slightly above that. Mediocrity here we come in 2026.

There’s LOTS of evidence debunking your false claims in that post. The claim that the Glazers are fine with mediocrity is the most ridiculous.
The Glazers did whatever it took to bring in the right coach and the right QB to win the Super Bowl during the 2020 season, and then brought back the entire team in 2021 for a chance to go back-to-back, spending tens of millions of dollars way above and beyond the salary cap in the process.
The front office (and most fans) realized that it would take years to get out of salary cap hell. And everyone seemed to be on board with it back then.
I didn’t see a single fan complaining about how Licht and his team were handling things at the time.
February 16th, 2026 at 2:53 pm
So we want the Bucs to go with another “if motivated” edge rusher contract huh. If Licht can’t draft edge rushers and Bowles can’t develop them then the pairing of these two makes no sense. This is going all in to save Bowles job not to make a deep playoff run and since I don’t care for Bowles no thanks I don’t trust this anymore than I did Reddick.

February 16th, 2026 at 3:08 pm
He won’t want to play for Bowles.
If other teams are interested, he won’t be cheap.
Licht will only take Dollar Store players.
The Glazers and Licht will do a total reset after the ’26 season.
February 16th, 2026 at 3:27 pm
Here is a list: Randy Gregory, Hassan Reddick and JPP.
Does anyone believe J Light will sign a REAL NFL FA Edge player. His history says no way… don’t hold your breath.
If he says anything more about Brasswell he should be stripped of GM duties for gas lighting fans..
February 16th, 2026 at 3:29 pm
Not sure why so many fans are saying pass, no thanks, or he’s damaged good. Let’s be honest, there ain’t much to choose from in the 2026 free agency. If you’re not will give up 1 or 2 first round draft picks, then you’re only left with taking a chance on a player who is old, injured prone or too costly. In my eyes, Bradley Chubb would be a great pickup or risk, even if we was costly.
February 16th, 2026 at 5:31 pm
The Bucs haven’t been in salary cap hell for 2 years. SMDH
Our fanbase is excuse makers for failure.
Tom Brady is the ONLY reason we won a SB. Period. You can whine about Licht doing this or that but the bottom line is nobody win anything without Tom.
Without him it’s just a bunch of losers…as you can see.
Losers. Including the GM and coach.
February 16th, 2026 at 5:54 pm
He’ll look great dropping back in coverage to give up 40myard TDs!!!
The double Todd’s have a master plan!!!
Instead of Swiss cheese they will replace it with From Under Cheese!!!!
The glory days are upon us boys!!!!
Championship after championship as far as the eye can see!!!
Yay to the Todd’s!!!! Thank you Licht!!! Thank you Glazers!!!!

Two years ago (2024 season), the team had 47 million in dead cap money.
That’s an upgrade over 75 million from the year before, but it still limits what the front office can do.
The Bucs front office kept the Super Bowl team together the following season by using void years, restructures, and pushed-out bonuses, creating a future debt bubble. But they were contenders, so nobody cared.
When a team maxes out its credit card, as the Bucs did, it is pretty typical for 3 to 5 painful seasons. Licht was shopping at the Dollar Store, but the team was continuing to win division titles. It could have been MUCH worse than it was.
Just look at the Saints between 2020 and 2024!
February 16th, 2026 at 11:49 pm
Why do t you draft a LB in the first and or second round. This year there are quite a few who appear to be descent.
February 17th, 2026 at 10:49 pm
I think thus the kind of signing Licht would like to do. A bargain edge for 1 year…but I think Chubb will want multiple years. At Chubb’s age, I don’t see Licht doing that.
But I also don’t see Licht doing the Maxx Crosby deal.
