NFL Network: Potential Maxx Crosby Trade May Not Happen For Months
February 9th, 2026Over the weekend, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN got Bucs fans hot and bothered over the notion that the Bucs really need to be bold and go get All-World edge rusher Maxx Crosby.
The chatter seeping out of San Francisco last week, where the NFL world congregated for the Super Bowl, was that Las Vegas wanted a “Micah Parsons-like deal” for Crosby.
Joe even heard people float two first-round picks for Crosby. Joe thought that was outrageous. Parsons, when he was dealt from Dallas to Green Bay, was in the prime of his career. Crosby is rehabbing a knee injury and is 28.
Besides, Crosby commands some $30 million a year in salary. Unless Mark Davis is willing to eat some of that, there is just no way a 28-year old edge rusher with a bum knee is worth two first-round draft picks.
And that is why Ian Rapoport of NFL Network thinks it will be months before any trade of Crosby is consummated, if a trade is ever worked out.
Teams aren’t going to want to trade for damaged goods like Crosby unless it’s a fire sale, and Las Vegas won’t get near the value back for Crosby until he is medically cleared.
So Rapoport is eyeing maybe around the NFL draft in April, or later, if the Raiders ever do ship Crosby to another team.
A trade before free agency is not impossible. But even a minor meniscus repair takes months of recovery. It might be a while if there is a Maxx Crosby trade. https://t.co/aUpQ6KhluM

NFL is trying the Bud Light-Cracker Barrel plan. Bad Bunny led off the new NFL last night. It will now go broke.

2 first round picks and $30M for a guy to drop back in hail Mary coverage every play? No thanks.

Joe, don’t know if you noticed, but it was Seattle’s defensive tackles that won the game yesterday, not one edge rusher. I know you’re fixated with edge rush, but it’s the big nasties up front on both sides of the ball that wins games. Aside from Vea, we have garage at DT. Kancey? He’s a girl compared to what Seattle has.

Yea, dreaming about Crosby aside.
How do we feel about Malachi Lawrence day 2? or Anthony Lucas at all?

I love Crosby, but this would be a bad idea for THIS team right now. I would have said yes last year or the year before, but a regime on the hot seat shouldn’t be allowed to spend major future draft capital.
Beyond that, this defensive roster is way more than one pass rusher away from resembling anything other than a minor inconvenience for most good offenses in this league. The Rams could have put up 70 if they felt like it. That game looked like a cat playing with a ball of yarn. Between free agency and draft, they need to add at a minimum 2 starting ILB’s, a starting OLB, a starting caliber DT, and multiple athletes in the defensive backfield that can stay on the field.
This team just needs some freak athletes in the back 7, no more 5’10 -200lb corner/safeties. Tykee Smith and Jacob Parrish are nice players, but we need some real specimens back there. Find me some 6’2 to 6’4 – 220+lb LB/safety hybrids that can run.

Crosby would be nice but too expensive. We too many pieces on defense.
I enjoyed BB last night. Hardly ever heard any of his stuff but I like good entertainment.

Hodad … ‘Joe, don’t know if you noticed, but it was Seattle’s defensive tackles that won the game yesterday, not one edge rusher. I know you’re fixated with edge rush, but it’s the big nasties up front on both sides of the ball that wins games.’
You nailed it Hodad. Watching those big nasties just collapse the New England OLine was a thing of beauty. Bucs need to emulate that, and stop this nonsense about pining for broken-down, over-the-hill edge rushers. They can’t do all that much unless the interior DLine is kicking arse.
Vea’s only got 1 or 2 more really effective years in him. Kancey would probably be fine further out with his quickness & speed, but he won’t last long playing inside against ‘beasts’ that outweigh him by 50 lbs or more. Gaines is OK as a backup, but he’s much more of a run-stopper. And I have doubts we’ll be re-signing Logan Hall (he’s improving, but he’s not big enough either to play in the interior).
Got a hunch the Bucs will be looking to upgrade our DLine interior significantly this year, through both free agency & the draft.

What has Crosby and Garrett won ? You need a team and a Edge rusher is great but 16 sacks in season from a guy guarantees you nothing…Shaq had 19.5 we won 7 games.
February 9th, 2026 at 8:36 am
DR, man they got 3 beasts up front that are cut from the same cloth. Absolutely dominated, was fun to watch.

I don’t see Crosby fetching 2 1st rounders. With that knee injury he probably won’t even get one 1st round pick. I’m thinking 2nd, 4th and a marginal starter. Crosby don’t want to be with the Raiders and the Raiders need picks to rebuilt.
February 9th, 2026 at 8:53 am
Bucs also need their picks to rebuild the defense more than an off-season away they shouldn’t trade for Maxx that’s something you do when you are close bucs are not that.

The Raiders are 42-68 with Maxx Crosby
We won’t be a whole lot better with him
We need to fill holes at several positions
We need better depth at several positions
One player will not make or break this team
We are too far off (talent wise)

“We are too far off (talent wise)” Coaching wise as well.

raiders should really let crosby go because he hasn’t helped them win a single game of late…
they are the absolute worst thing ever…
and crosby hasn’t changed things over there one iota…
spytek literally walked into quicksand over there and will get canned sooner than later…
he’s the fall guy, not tommy b…
he should probably hook up the bucs, so he has some friends and a place to go once that bowl haircut fella cuts him lose in a year or so…
spytek needs to think about his future…and olive branch…by giving away maxx fuzzby 🙂
February 9th, 2026 at 9:13 am
Watching last night’s whitewashing of the lucky until then Patriots…I was surprised to see former Cowboy Demarcus Lawrence. I didn’t realize the Hawks signed him in free agency. He flashed several times and caused a ( bad ) Maye Day. Is Trey Hendrickson possibly that guy…or does Hassan Reddick cause Vietnam flashbacks to a player who’s doomed looking for one last payday? Licht needs to channel John Schneider vibes. That guy is clearly the top GM in the league.
February 9th, 2026 at 9:20 am
you might want to refocus and swerve away from crosby…
to see if you can somehow get monken and company to give up on miles garrett in cleveland…
long shot, but you never know
February 9th, 2026 at 9:21 am
Before you give up that kinda draft capital you have to ask yourself two things. 1. Is this team one player away from going all in. 2. Do you have the coaching staff to make this player the missing piece. I would say no to both accounts.
