I sure don’t think Mike would move his whole family for one year in an unfamiliar environment. I find it ridiculous even to think he would leave the Bucs at this point in his career.

Still haven’t heard a comprehensive assessment of the reasons for the collapse of 2025.
Are we just going to ignore what we all watched?
When you fail to prepare, then you are preparing to fail.
Does anyone really think the issue was Grizzard and some of the lower-level defensive staff?
Guess that is how you win Superbowls.

Zac Robinson and Baker don’t need to sell Mike Evans on the Bucs super bowls chances. Bowles and his trash defense has to sell Evans. I think money matters to the agent, championships matter to Evans

Neither has Joe.

Wow. Even old Junebug’s ears perked up hearing that Mayfield may be a bit irked with Bowles. We lost the New England game and I said at the time I didn’t remember ever seeing a team throw 3 TD passes and have zero turnovers and lose the game. Then we lost to Buffalo scoring 32 points missing 2 extra points. For good measure our kickoff team gave Allen possession at midfield after our 6 scores. So he ran for 3 TDS and threw for 3 TDS. The aforementioned Patriot game we gave up 4 TDS of over 60 yards. An NFL record or close to it. I think Mayfield was losing patience with the coaches game plan about then. 4 losses to weaker opponents followed, each one conservatively game planned and called. All 4 razor close. Falcons, Saints, Dolphins, and Panthers. Win those 6 late season games we’re 14-3 heading into the playoffs. Yes, injuries hurt us. But coaching killed us. When your defense and special teams suck you can’t have a conservative offensive game plan. Baker felt that early on and I’m sure he knew it would lead to disappointment. I’m sure they have discussed it and it’ll be important to Baker that Todd not meddle with our offense. And I think Zac has the experience to not let Bowles cut his gonads. But Steve is right. Baker never mentioned Bowles once in 16 minutes and twice at the podium when he had the chance.

The 2 games mentioned above were 44-32 and 28-23 losses. Games 9 and 10 on the schedule. Offense good and effective. Defense bad and ineffective. 6-2 turned into 6-4. Every Mayfield hater on this site points to how great our defense played compared to our offense the last 7 games. They bend reality by not saying the last 7 games. The Rams beat us 34-7 in game 11 to make us 6-5. Now we’ve got 6 games to go and we beat Arizona 20-17 to go 7-5. Now for the easy games. Saints beat us 24-20 in a toad strangler of a rainstorm with a rookie QB running wild since passing is almost impossible in that kind of rain.Defense lost us that game. Now 7-6. Then the Atlanta debacle-Third and 28!! Now we’re 7-7. Then the Panthers debacle “We had them right where we wanted them”. 7-8. The Dolphins loss was pure garbage game calling 7-9. Beating Carolina with another mandate of “let’s play not to lose and 8-9 was our destiny. I’ll bet Mayfield being frustrated did play into our seasons failures Joes. I can see that being true. But maybe Baker was just so injured that he lost us all those games.

Oh, the Atlanta debacle 3rd and 28 our offense scored 28 and lost 29-28 that evened our record at 7-7. That’s the game where Evans came back and had a great game and we led 28-14 in the 4th quarter and although Baker threw one pick (Atlanta still had 62 yards to go) Atlanta had a 62 yard drive and 2 80 yard drives in the 4th quarter. We should never have had to throw the ball in the fourth quarter. Defense 100% lost that game. But somehow this team sucked it up in another rainstorm to beat Carolina 16-14 in a game that showed me that no matter how bad a conservative a game plan as our scared to have our defense on the field coach had become, Mayfield and the offense never quit. There you go Joe’s and Sage. Our downfall in a nutshell. A few adjustments and we oughta be the best team in the league this year. And I ain’t whistling Dixie.

Oh, and Tampa may make Baker prove it this year after his terrible top 10 QB performance from last year? Baker ain’t gotta prove anything.

My and old Junebug’s favorite podcast and we’ve decided to take a deep dive into why the season turned into a full blown disaster. Above is described how 14-3 was attainable. Philly. Loss. 31-25. Should have been 31-23, they take meaningless safety at end to salvage victory. First half Hurts completes everything in sight and our punt team has one blocked for a TD for a 24-3 half time lead. Thanks special teams and defense! Second half Bucky fumbles and Hurts immediately runs the ball for about 30 or 40 yards and 31 points. Defense throttles Hurts rest of game. Why, you ask? Because Hurts knows what Mayfield is doing to him, throwing 2 75 yard TD passes and pulling within 31-23. Hurts knows who Baker is and he choked like he always does. Luckily for him Baker throws his first pick of the season and couldn’t quite pull us back from special teams and defensive ineptness. Could have been 15-2 . Detroit. Baker hurry ups last drive of first half and scores 3 to make it 14-3. First drive second half great drive we’re in the end zone and it’s 14-10. No, some genius said go for 2 so it’s 14-9. That’s the game Mike was injured. We remember that, he was interfered with on a perfect bomb that hit him in the chest and both hands at the same time. Collarbone broke, no wonder he couldn’t catch it. End up losing 24-9. We could have won that game but Mike going down really stings a teams mentality. The Rams are the only team that beat us up. Some folks stress Baker threw 2 first half picks. One of those hit Otten in the chest and he bobbled it 4 times before the defender punked him and took it for 6. The second pick occurred with zero time on the first half clock on a Hail Mary attempt from 65 yards. Because our defense couldn’t get close to stopping the Rams from scoring long TD drives every time they touched the ball in the first half. They’d have scored 50 or more if McVey didn’t respect the heck out of Baker and Todd. Let the JBF archives hold the truth about what happened in 2025 and now let’s focus on 2026.

Put the results in the bag he can wear a clown nose and have his back turned to the game as long as that defense is performing the fans wouldn’t care, fans attack superficially because of the results that’s why fans clown on him being fat as well.
