Mike McDaniel Will Be At One Buc Palace This Week
January 15th, 2026You want to know who the serious candidates are for Bucs offensive coordinator? How did they interview?
Yesterday, per Jenna Laine of ESPN, Baltimore offensive coordinator and former Bucs offensive assistant Todd Monken was at One Buc Palace for an interview. She also said former Dolphins head coach and 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel will be at One Buc Palace for a sitdown with Bucs brass to see if he is worthy of calling plays.
No fooling around with Zoom. The Bucs are bringing both McDaniel and Monken into the building.
This year will be big for a lot of people at One Buc Palace for a variety of reasons. So Joe hopes the Bucs can lure the best candidate available whether that is McDaniel or Monken or some coach not on anyone’s radar now.
The Bucs need to make a playoff run. For a lot of reasons.

John Harbaugh hired by the Newyork Giants. I hope we get McDaniel as OC since we’re stuck with Bowles
January 15th, 2026 at 12:23 am
Gonna have to pay him more than Bowles makes to get him.
Tell me Todd won’t feel threatened by McDaniel.
As much as I want him to be our OC something tells me the chemistry with Bowels won’t be there.
I can see Todd with Monken because he has never been a HC.
What happens when Bowels butts heads with Mike because he questions what Todd is doing as a HC and the decisions he makes as the HC?
January 15th, 2026 at 12:29 am
Seeing IF Monken goes with Harbaugh to the Giants…
going to be VERY INTERESTING to see what leftover, scraps of an OC the Bucs end up with!
January 15th, 2026 at 12:38 am
mcdaniel or monken…either or…
robinson as a 3rd option…
no to anyone else…
if you don’t get those 3, leave the position open ended, and have baker freelance and audible all plays at the line of scrimmage like a freakin’ maniac
January 15th, 2026 at 12:42 am
Why would either Monken or McDaniel come here?
For a one year gig?
To coach a clearly sinking ship?
The Bucs will hire nobody of any repute. It will be a retread. Someone who has already failed.
Like Bowles.
January 15th, 2026 at 12:55 am
Joe why no mention of White saying that Bowles should hire a DC? Still protecting him I see, needs some more interviews with head coach i guess.

“Why would either Monken or McDaniel come here?”

I’ve asked myself this question. Then I realized its almost a no loose situation. Best case is the Bucs are a SB contender and McD can have his choice of HC opportunities. Worse case the offense has a Renaissance type of year similar to ’24 bc of McD and the defense is bad. Bucs fire Bowles and McD’s the heir apparent. McD becomes the Bucs HC
January 15th, 2026 at 1:32 am
Who wouldn’t want to come to Tampa to learn from a DEFENSIVE GURU like Toilet Bowels!
WOOO!
January 15th, 2026 at 1:34 am
Senor harry im so glad at least someone reading these articles has some dam sense about them
January 15th, 2026 at 1:39 am
Agree big time with “Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says”.
McD can go to a place with weapons and a place that has been proven to turn first time OC’s into head coaches after one year. If he works his wizardry and turns the offense back into a top 5 unit he’s looking at a head coaching job of his choice, whether it’s somewhere else or in Tampa.
Mcdaniel for oc and then listen to everyone on the planet including rashad white and hire a dc. I think a lot of teams are using Raheem to meet the rooney rule, bring him back to tampa and lets do work
January 15th, 2026 at 2:35 am
I think Monkin or McDaniel would be a great OC from the Bucs. McDaniel would fit better as a OC and then becoming HC if Bowles fails or retires. Monkin is right at 60 and I have my question about why hasn’t he became a HC. Some guys or just better at coordinators than HCs. As for McDaniel, he fit that mold of young OC who could move up to HC. The only draw back I have with McDaniel is, I am hearing a lot about he was a little soft with the Dolphins. Don’t know if there’s any truth to that but where there’s smoke there’s usually fire.
January 15th, 2026 at 3:25 am
McDaniels might actually stick around even if he turns the offense into a great unit again. If we don’t hire an INDEPENDENT defensive coordinator the defense will certainly be another keystone cops disaster and McDaniels could have his shot right here.
January 15th, 2026 at 3:28 am
I don’t think Tua was much to work with in Miami. I did love what Mike did with that running game, though.
January 15th, 2026 at 3:52 am
Awesome news!! It is a great idea having him at One Buc too. Show him everything along with the Tampa Bay vibe up close. Crossing fingers!
January 15th, 2026 at 4:12 am
McDaniel will go wherever Salah is hired as Head Coach, end of story.
January 15th, 2026 at 4:38 am
playoff run lol playoffs?! playoffs?! did you see their schedule?!
January 15th, 2026 at 5:34 am
10 years of doom coming for the Buccaneers 😡
January 15th, 2026 at 5:43 am
If we can get a proven and effective OC like McDaniels or Monken, Special Teams, DC, building up the existing roster, and maybe some other changes; the Bucs can turn it around next season. You never know. Go Bucs!
January 15th, 2026 at 6:00 am
bOWLESWILL KNIX THIS DEAL WITH MCdANELS/ H IS WAY BETTER THAN BOWLES/ PRAY THE GLAZERS MAKE THE DEAL AND NOT LICHT
January 15th, 2026 at 6:13 am
Don’t let him out of the building till he signs ,,, if he wants to be a HC in 2027 this is his best option
January 15th, 2026 at 6:15 am
mj said: “playoff run lol playoffs?! playoffs?! did you see their schedule?”
Roughly the same schedule everyone else in the division has except in 2026, the Bucs won’t play the three first place teams in the other divisions.
January 15th, 2026 at 6:43 am
Lightningvinny1 – Absolutely! It’s a win-win. He and his family stay in FL too. No big move out of state, stays right here 😊
January 15th, 2026 at 6:55 am
So we’re stuck with a loser coach and our only hope is an OC to save this team and hopefully make the playoffs next year?
What does that say about our head coach?
January 15th, 2026 at 7:13 am
McD’s capris are a better fit for Tampa.
Nuff said. He’s a warm weather boy.
January 15th, 2026 at 7:30 am
You know, at bottom, I just love that McD has a pulse. Seems to also have a very healthy and aggressive play calling middle finger. He’s exciting. He’ll motivate from the sideline, he’ll high five and fist pump, he’ll even chew ass when players screw up.
What a balance that would be in comparison to our pulseless head coach who believes stoicism wins games. It doesn’t. Toddy lost no less than 4 games this season based on his lack of leadership. We need Vrabel type energy.
So McD would be perfect for a season while Licht and the Glazers create a paper CSO position for Bowels to ascend to next year to save face when McD takes over entirely.
(Chief Stoicism Officer)
January 15th, 2026 at 7:46 am
Todd – Fully agree.
McDaniel has that vibe in a nerdy creative way. He runs up and down the sidelines at times with so much energy too! And he was strong enough as a coach to bench Tua for bad performance and put Quinn in.
January 15th, 2026 at 7:56 am
for anyone saying why would anyone come to tampa to coach a “sinking ship” all i can say is remember what happened with dirk koetter and lovie smith, that could easily be the new OC and bowles next year.
January 15th, 2026 at 8:42 am
If they like McDaniel and want him it’s easy – Fire Bowles and offer McDaniel the HC this year.
Another year with Bowles is a waste.
January 15th, 2026 at 8:53 am
McDaniel would have fun designing plays for the TB weapons. Let him focus on offense this year. If he produces next year he is in a good spot to move into HC spot of his choice. There’s a good chance he’ll be interim TB head coach by week 10.
Based in the Yaya and Rachaad chatter Todd really needs a DC to help dictate the 95 thesis of his defense. It only works if people understand their role.
McDaniel, Monken, or Robinson have potential.
January 15th, 2026 at 9:09 am
Let todd be o/c. He pretty much ran the offense this year and look how production dropped. WHAT does the Glazers see in bowles?????????
January 15th, 2026 at 9:34 am
Monken should feel like he’s coming home. Just a gut feeling, but he’s familiar with the people, the facilities, and the area. I just see more of a seamless transition with him. Monken gets my vote. I’m not happy that Bowles is still here, for obvious reasons, and White is gone, just another hole we have to fill. White was our best in pass protection, in receiving, and last season he was arguably our most efficient running back. He will do well wherever he goes, and we will regret his loss. I believe Monken will make better use of ALL of our weapons, and Mike Evans will start a new streak. I have no great expectations for the defense with Bowles, so everything hinges on the offense. A Special Teams genius would help offset our usual pathetic defense.
January 15th, 2026 at 10:14 am
“He pretty much ran the offense this year and look how production dropped. WHAT does the Glazers see in bowles????????”
Lmao, so which one is it, Baker was hurt or Bowles secretly ran our offense so he could fire people and have to go through hiring processes when he should be getting ready for the end of season collegiate “all-star” bowls and draft season?
Buc fans love getting their Nancy Drew on, all that gum on those shoes
January 15th, 2026 at 10:48 am
“ Chief Stoicism Officer!” via @Todd. Ha!
January 15th, 2026 at 11:09 am
Monson was never an option because he was going to wherever John Harbaugh landed which is New York Giants.
Mike McDaniels is a far better choice. His offense in Miami was elite. The problem was their Quarterback wasn’t even good and too prone to injury.
Hire McDaniels at the interview. Don’t let him get away.
January 15th, 2026 at 2:05 pm
If I was Mike McDaniel and Joel Glazer whispered in his ear “hey Mike if you can do what Liam Coen did for our offense it’s your job as HC in 2027. If Todd tries to hold you back, just let me know and I’ll handle it.
That would be the one reason he would take the job knowing it’s gonna be handed off to him if he performs. Just like Arians did with Bowles.
January 15th, 2026 at 3:13 pm
It’s more like whether the Bucs are a worthy organization for him to call plays for. Munken is gone and he might be our last shot at respectability with lame duck Todd hanging on like a huge boat anchor around the teams neck.
January 15th, 2026 at 5:54 pm
lock him up
Kubiak will be a HC somewhere next year
if 2026 is going to be another wasted year (same HC, same old boring losing football), may as well have a team that is fun to watch on offense
McDaniel has a shot to create some fireworks on offense at least
January 15th, 2026 at 6:10 pm
Anything less than offering to make him the highest paid OC of all time would be disappointing. If he wants to be a head coach not much can be done unless you fire Bowles. Would be devastating if he ended up an OC elsewhere.
January 15th, 2026 at 10:14 pm
McD would be the perfect OC and absolute godsend to the Bucs Offense. Period.
He would immediately be able to revitalize this O side of the ball & scheme up targeted utilization of Bucs OFF weapons. It would very much make Bucs fans feel like Coen’s 2024 season. He runs a very similar scheme & has an acute feel for (aggressive) situational FB play calling.
Even as a 1st time HC with the Dolphins, his O wasn’t the problem so much as the injury bug to Tua. That guy is a shell of what he could have been…but McD gave the world glimpses….Baker iis much more durable than Tua & would thrive under McD…The whole Offense absolutely thrive in his scheme with his play-calling..
January 15th, 2026 at 11:43 pm
So glad to hear this, I’m a big fan of his coaching abilities, and his offenses have been pretty good despite some issues in Miami.
