Bucs Interview Dixie Chicks OC Zac Robinson

January 12th, 2026

Virtual interview.

If the Bucs are looking to get sneaky production from the tight end position and maybe reestablish a rookie receiver, Zac Robinson may be the Bucs’ guy.

Now it is a running joke that Robinson and Atlanta haven’t gotten much out of talented tight end Kyle Pitts. Well, Joe learned that Pitts had the second-most receiving yards of any tight end in the league last year.

It helped that Pitts racked up yards facing a Todd Bowles defense.

Interestingly, the Bucs did a virtual interview with Robinson yesterday for the opening the Bucs have at offensive coordinator.

Earlier this year, Robinson was tagged as “beleaguered” because of “his stubborn usage of the pistol formation.”

Aside from getting production from highly-drafted talent (aside from the quarterback), it helps that Robinson worked directly under Sean McVay in various roles with the Rams for five seasons before jumping to Atlanta with Raheem Morris in 2024.

We know that Robinson also got production from a stud like running back Bijan Robinson. So if the Bucs are looking to reestablish a running attack, they could do worse than Zac Robinson.

And, Robinson knew what to do with a talented young wide receiver like Drake London. The past two seasons with Robinson running Atlanta’s offense, London had his two best seasons in the NFL.

So Joe would trust Robinson to be able to figure out where Bucs rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka went hiding in the second half of the 2025 season.

Below are Robinson’s numbers running the Dixie Chicks’ offense.

Total yards per game
2025:
14th in NFL
2024: 6th

Passing yards per game
2025:
19th
2024: 5th

Rushing yards per game
2025:
8th
2024: 10th

Points per game
2025:
24th
2024: 13th

Those aren’t spectacular numbers but they’re not awful. Though the points per game this past season makes Joe cringe.

How much was the successful running game due to Robinson scheming up the Dixie Chicks and how much of it was just sheer talent from Bijan Robinson, that’s anyone’s guess.

And remember halfway through last year, Atlanta starting quarterback Michael Penix went down with a knee injury.

So the Bucs could do a lot worse than Robinson. Are there better options? Yes. Are there worse options? Certainly.

Funny Grizz Offense had more pts and yds than Canales but Coen set the Bar high.

I say interview the waterboy or the inmate at the local jail for the job & maybe bail him out. Oh that’s right they’d have to chip in $$$$ for that & they don’t like to chip in any $$$$. So we’re down to pretty much the homeless dude on the street. He’d be more than happy to come in for the interview & he’d be more than happy to help out anybody.

MAKE TOM MOORE THE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR! BRING HIM BACK & GIVE HIM THAT POSITION!

  5. Daryl Green Says:

Well guys there’s your McVay tree thingy you guys have been craving for.
He won’t be a threat to take the HC job will he ? 🤭 ok we have more to interview. Probably should making and decision in two weeks. 🤙🏾

  6. Rod Munch Says:

Bowles has hit 2 of his 3 OC picks out of the park, and I’m not convinced that Grizz was ever his pick based on how quickly he dumped him. While people can whine and complain about Bowles all they want, this is one area he should get the benefit of the doubt.

  7. Daryl Green Says:

Don’t do that Rod M. If the first two was he decision than the third was🤙🏾

  8. Daryl Green Says:

Really he got bad Break. The other two didn’t have the injuries he had to overcome as a first year play caller. So really he was a scapegoat. I’m good with that. I’m concerned about the DC, well, can’t change that so there’s that.🤙🏾

    No thanks!!

Need to interview Nate Scheelhaase, Rams passing game coordinator…he’s been with the Rams the past 2 years..

From what I’ve been reading, this guy has similar background to Coen…

Was an OC & quarterback coach for Iowa State from 2018 – 2023…

Gotta get a look at this guy!!

  10. Let em bake Says:

Baker worked with Zac during his rams stint. If baker likes him, he’s going to get a good look.

The most nonsensical thing you wrote in that post was that he got production from Bijan Robinson. Amazing!! Also, we have no tight ends on the level of Kyle Pitts. The fact that he isn’t a top tight end in the NFL is a fault that needs to be looked at. Pitts sure as hell lights up any defense Bowles throws at him.

  12. Buc king Says:

Gruden is the answer for the offense and he would love the job ..2.5 million bonus of 1 mil if we get to the superbowl..he will sign tomo and our offense will thrive in the west coast offense
