Does anybody know why Jason Licht give the Glazers the approval to extend Bowles this season considering Bowles body of work is spectacularly average / below average? No evidence that he did or did not. Team Glazer oversees head coach decision. –Joe
Him sticking with “Lovie Smith” I mean Todd Bowles knocks him down to little confidence. If he can’t see his defense doesn’t work with these players. I good coach puts his players in position to be successful. Not ask his players to do things they can’t do. Bowels chooses HIS scheme over players.
Confident. His first pick was a HOFer while some people wanted Manziel. I’m not sure who has the most influence on who gets drafted, the GM or the HC. Overall Licht hasn’t been bad but recently he hasn’t been good.
He might need to hit a couple of homeruns with some draft picks and/or FAs to keep his job. This roster is seriously lacking in consistent, playmaking talent and thats on the GM.
I hope he gets it turned around…for his sake.
More than likely the entire staff gets turned over after next season. Barring a miracle.
Find and acquire some edge rushers and we will be confident. The pass rush is so bad that I can’t have full confidence in his ability to be a great GM.
Hasn’t drafted pro bowler since 2020.
Go
Bucs!
Fix the edge rushers and we will be confident. The hole is so
Glaring.
I would make the case this whole defensive coaching staff haven’t developed one defensive player in 8 years. Name one defensive player that has gotten better?
Confident, I believe this is the first year post Brady era where Licht will have cap room and the ability to create nearly $100 mil. This offseason is huge for Licht too
I have always been very confident in Licht but the decision to retain Bowles has shifted me to “little confidence”. I no longer trust that he is about winning, no matter what.
Now, his job security is tied to Bowels – when this blows up, they both gotta go.
Since the SB, no confidence. He has really screwed up the defense with some of his draft picks and he has signed some really poor second and third string players on the defense. Why some of these guys are even starting is beyond me. Reddick really? Then JPP to save this sorry defensive line? Too little, too late.
Though Jason has been great in bringing in OL starters, whether via the draft or trades (Logan Mankins). He has also been great at finding talented WRs. What he and his staff have not been as good in the last decade at RB and TE. This is why outside of the Gronk years and last year with Liam, Licht’s teams have struggled to run the ball. That is a data backed trend that extended into this year as our TEs struggled to provide much in the way of blocking when it mattered most. Defensively, he has struggled to field a top tier defense in most seasons. While he struck gold with Shaq Barrett and made a wise trade for a proven commodity in JPP, LIcht has otherwise struck out when it comes to supplying his coaches with capable pass rushers. With the running game woes being a blemish offensively, and the inability to sign or draft pass rushers being a blemish Defensively, and let’s not get started on special teams throughout his tenure…… do we need to revisit the revolving door of kicking ineptitude highlighted by burning a second round pick on Roberto Aguayo? I like Jason as a dude, just the way I like Todd as a dude, but as coaches and GMs, they are past their expiration date. They enjoyed an extension on their careers thanks to BA, TB12, and the Glazers, but they will both be vacating One Buc this time next year as we embark upon another two decades of treacherous Bucs football.
He is not the problem. He is one of the top five GM’s in the league. His only Achilles heel is drafting an edge rusher and over valuing a first round pick and not getting approving edge rusher.
A lot of fans don’t fully understand Jason Licht rome as the GM. He don’t have complete control of football operations. The Glazers has complete control of football operations. The Glazers gave extensions to Jason Licht and Todd Bowles . Jason Licht has control of the roster, draft, trades, free agency etc. But the Glazers has control over the hiring and firing of the HC. The Glazers are totally confident in Jason Licht
With that said, he’s doing exactly what they want him to do
Since the SB he’s bad drafts and whiffed on FA. It’s exactly like before Brady came through and retooled the roster with multiple hall of fame guys and ring chasers.
We have a decade long sample size of Licht being a bad GM. And a good 2 year run with Brady. It’s painfully obvious who the real Licht is.
Hard to judge Licht when the coaching has been piss poor. Line the guys he is drafting could be more talented if they were being developed and coached properly.
Any imbecilllen claiming the Bucs have poor players don’t understand the value of coaching, and the harm that its lack, or worse, bad coaching, has on good players.
For the googlezillionth time, Tood could’ve had the 17-0 Dolphins 2-12.
Dudes going to go to goodwill this offseason and pick scraps out. Then Bowles will get caught holding the poop in a bag. How’s his polls the total opposite? Hypocrisy at its finest.
Best things Todd L has done:
Tom Brady
ME13
JPP
Shaq Barrett
His D line and D backs picks have been borderline horrendous.
Not addressing DE and ILB this season horrendous.
Randy Gregory, Hasson Reddiixk , giving CG and Zion big $$$ worst moves.
B- to C + at best. Draft guru is a myth!
I think Licht has done a good job in Tampa The roster is loaded with talent, just need someone to get the must from that talent. What I don’t understand is why so many ticked with Licht because Bowles is back. We the fans don’t have a clue to what goes on behind closed doors. People was ticked with Arians because they thought he could’ve been involved with Bowles coming back. Could it be the Glazers didn’t see a clear past to keep continuity with the team and just waited for next off season when you will several free agent coaches like Matt Lefluer down in Green Bay and a few more with good success in the NFL. Harbaugh is the big name this off season and if true I hear he want to bring his own GM and know if he wanted to come to Tampa anyway. As I’ve sad many times, if owners listened to only what the fans want they would be firing coaches and GMs every 2 years
I didn’t get to vote but i vote no confidence only reason he won is because of brady won that superbowl and im confident jl draft a injury prone player and a bust by his third year with the first round pick
Tune into Packers sport talk radio for an entertaining night of fans having complete meltdowns, saying everyone should be fired, Love is the worst QB in the NFL, and their GM is an idiot trading two first for Parsons because now the future of the team is in doubt, there’s no hope, it’s all over, everyone is canceling their season tickets, etc. Should be fun.
It’s difficult to judge because we don’t k ow how much poor coaching is holding these players back or how much $ Glazers are giving him.
With that being said, you can only look at the results, and outside those outlier Brady years, Licht has a losing record and a slew of poor early round picks. He also gets too much credit for finding ‘diamonds in the rough’ like SVD and other marginal second-stringers.
I don’t think he’s awful, but I’m baffled by all those calling him elite. By my count, he’s hit on 4/11 first rounders and 6/18 second rounders.
He’s living off having Brady fall in his lap. The numbers don’t lie. His win percentage is below .500. He’s had a lot of 1st, and 2nd round busts, a lot. Drafting, and coaching has not been good enough. That’s why we’re 8-9 sitting home. Aother .500 season, he’s out the door with Bowles. I wish him luck this season.
This “minus Brady” stuff is for the birds. You do NOT remove the part of his career that is successful.
Licht does NOT coach the team, he assembles it. He brought Arians. He brought Brady. He brought the team that one the superbowl (JPP, Suh, and all the others).
He fixed the cap issues.
He re-assembled the offensive line.
He brought in Mayfield (who won us multiple championships).
The TROLLS want you to think none of that counts…but it does.

The focus was on the offense because they wanted to give Mayfield a chance to succeed, and it worked.
Bowles, to his credit, was willing to forego the defense (his side of things) while the offense got the attention.
We only JUST started addressing the defense in the last draft. There was no chance it would be fixed in 1 year. Fan expectations on the defense were too high this season.
Next year, the rookies will have acclimated, figured out their weak spots, and started improving. Development.

very confident he hasnt done much since the super bowl.
January 10th, 2026 at 8:02 pm
but the glazers could be holding him back
January 10th, 2026 at 8:05 pm
Would like to see a push to get a DE and CB in draft
Wish he could fire Bowles
By the way TWO BUCS ex Coaches HC on playoff teams while we are at home
Could have had Cohen ALLDAY LONG
January 10th, 2026 at 8:07 pm
Zero pro bowl players drafted since 2020.
Before and after Brady he has been sub 500 win percentage.
Brady was the perfume masking the scent from the busted sewer pipe.
Licht is just a guy. Go to any sports bar and there’s 20 more exactly like him.
And the Bucs are now on a downward trend from mid at best.

Looking back there were signs licht wasn’t and isn’t a great GM. Drafting that kicker early was one them.

And for those reasons I have little confidence
