Rondé Barber: Money Was A Factor In Retaining Todd Bowles

January 9th, 2026

Schedule a Zoom call with Rondé, please.”

So Rondé Barber works for the Buccaneers and talked yesterday about walking around team headquarters this week and feeling a somber vibe.

Barber also is a personal friend of Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht.

So, of course, Joe is going to listen close to what Barber has to say.

The Rondé Barber Show is a WFLA-TV streaming property that appears to be supported by the Buccaneers. Not only are team advertising partners supporting the show with advertising, months ago Barber thanked the Bucs for helping put the show together.

On Thursday’s episode, Barber was asked about how many Bucs fans expected the Team Glazer “gavel to fall” on Todd Bowles after a late-season collapse, rather than only on assistant coaches. Barber’s quick reply was about money.

“Look, you just paid the guy this past offseason,” Barber said, referring to Bowles’ contract being extended through 2028. “You’re kidding yourself if you think it doesn’t matter that they just paid Todd Bowles. Right? They like the guy, too. He’s likeable.”

What? The NFL is a business? Money matters? Decisions are made because of money?

Apparently so.

  1. Colonel Angus Says:

I just heard the Raiders are paying around $60 million to 4 or 5 coaches they no longer have.

  2. Hawk Says:

    SHOW ME THE MONEY!!
But how much will there actually be if the Bucs start next season with losses?

  3. Day 1-76 Says:

They could’ve put him in a front office role of some sort.

  4. Colonel Angus Says:

According to recent reporting, Las Vegas is still on the hook for these annual amounts for coaches who have already been let go or whose contracts are being paid out:
    • Pete Carroll – ~$16 million
    • Josh McDaniels – ~$10 million
    • Jon Gruden – ~$10 million
    • Antonio Pierce – ~$8 million
    • Chip Kelly – ~$6 million

    More like $50 million

  5. Kgh4life Says:

    Cheap

  6. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

OF COURSE. Glazers have fired two ManU coaches in the past 18 months and owe them $40M.

  7. FormerBucFan Says:

We are watching a how to video on how not to run a franchise

  8. szymboj Says:

This doesn’t surprise me at all. Todd Bowles is a likeable guy, but at some point there needs to be accountability, which seems to fall at the feet of the numerous assistants that were shown the door this week.

I figured with Bowles having recently signed an extension that he was safe for at least another year, but man, the season had such an ugly finish that I was open to all options, including a full front office and coaching reset.

Let’s hope the new assistants can make a difference and Jason Licht can address a very weak pass rush, amongst a litany of other offseason needs.

  9. AlstottNumber1 Says:

Imagine if Brady never came to Tampa.

That is their only saving grace.

This is pure profit mode and fleecing the fans on the back of the title that Brady won.

They’ll ride this out for three more years.

Luckily I still have college football to watch and golf on Sundays.

Untill they wake up and remove Bowles my faith in them is sub zero.

  10. LFGBucs Says:

I don’t think money is the issue. It’s about friendships and loyalty. The Glazers strike me as people that didn’t have a lot of friends growing up. 🤷. If you’re lucky enough to inherit a cash-cow like an NFL team you have no worries about meeting payroll, and 31 other “friends” to complain with. Life is good!

  11. Scott Says:

For sure. Imagine having to pay Licht and Bowles if they went the Harbaugh route. That is a bit excessive.

  12. adam from ny Says:

the hard truth is, we just exited the brady window and also won a superbowl almost yesterday…

if you understand what that means, you understand what that means…

    i will say no more

  13. Stu Says:

    Takes money to make money…

  14. Greg-therealone Says:

    Whatever.

  15. Darin Says:

They’ll lose much more than his salary in tickets and merchandise etc if they bring him back. Ain’t about his salary. I know none of my money will be going there next season.

  16. Muscle Hampster Says:

I’m no financial guru but I’d think ticket sales matter. Can’t imagine too many people are going to be fired up next season

  17. Popmike66 Says:

About the money is a no brainer, don’t really know but Bowles is making but I think it’s around $8 mil a year with a 3 year contract = to $24 mil and if they had lured Harbaugh who makes about $17 mil a year on a 4 year contracts is around $68 mil and my point is, others may feel different but Harbaugh is to much like Bowles when you look back at the past 10 years so, why not take the cheaper route when it’s probably gonna be the same results

  18. Timon Says:

Haha. Bucs fans (I am one) are delusional sometimes! I’ll say it one last time. The Bucs were never going to pay 2 HCs!! And stop bringing back history from 20 years ago!! Sure they paid Jon Gruden and Raheem. How much do you think Raheem was making?! Peanuts!!

Bucs fans get on board for this train wreck of a season that coming. It’s like a car crash you can’t look away from.

Money is why the Bucs will not attract top OCs

It always been about money and always will be! Pay attention to what’s going on at Man U. The Glazers priority is Man U right now. ?? You might want to look up who actually runs the soccer team. It sounds like you’ll be surprised. –Joe

  19. BucsLifeIsSad Says:

I seriously hope the seats are empty next season. The Glazers deserve no more money from us period until Boles is gone. Im Gonna pirate every game

  20. Slacker Says:

So. Keep the coaching around because hes cheap instead of what he’s accomplished and brings to the table? Sounds like a team that wants to win

  21. AlstottNumber1 Says:

Prediction: “Braswell is going to shock some people next season”

    LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!

Yes, it was quite shocking indeed!

    We have completely derailed.

  22. Anyhony Says:

Visiting Fans and transplants will buy tickets, oh and always……..investors!!!

  23. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    @Colonel Angus

That is absolutely ridiculous, great find and it got me thinking.

Cardinals are still in debt to Kliff Kingsbury to the tune of $30M through 2027.

Jets still owe Coach Selah $10M which covered until this past season on his contract.

    Giants owe Daboll $10-$15M

No matter how you slice it, that’s a lot of cheeseburgers to pay someone to NOT work for you, while still needing the work they were doing done. I’ll lose my s%#t over an extra $20, I couldn’t imagine millions 🤣

  24. NDog is an Idiot Says:

Yay!! We get stuck with The Dollar Tree Head Coach!!

  25. It's Corn Says:

It didn’t stop them many many times before.

And how much did they LOSE because Bowles was too inept to make the playoffs?

  26. FormerBucFan Says:

They have completed the full circle cycle since signing Brady and reclaimed their bottom spot on the totem pole.

  27. Power Of Pewter Says:

Considering the Bucs wasted $14M on Hassan Reddick, it’s hard to believe money was a prime consideration in keeping Bowles, especially since Bucs had previously fired head coaches with years remaining on their contract. I think the reason they kept Bowles was fear of regressing from mediocrity, and possibly word passed on from potential candidates that they weren’t interested.

  28. Dlavid Says:

This whole charade going on …. And the Glazers nor Licht have the balls to explain themselves to the fans !! Absolute “ Bullspit” as the dearly departed Bulldog used to say !

  29. 813bucboi Says:

the only way this gets any worse is if we re-sign Reddick lol…

if not for CLE we’d be the laughing stock of the NFL!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  30. Idroolpewter&red Says:

Perhaps with some young upcoming, passionate assistant coaches, Bowles can do what the guys with several decades of experience each couldn’t do. Teach and motivate. Without revamping Bowles’ entire defensive concepts, I kind of doubt this will work but it’s better than status quo.

  31. Newbie Says:

Does this surprise anyone? Does this surprise anyone especially considering monies owed to ManU coaches? Does that surprise anyone knowing THEY extended him after last season through 2027? Would love to know the cost analysis of his salary vs merch/tix sale (losses) and no home playoff game this season and next (that’s coming like Christmas). Looking forward to the Steelers, Browns, Pack, Vikings have their home games here at Ray Jay this fall when they travel to play the Bucs. That should make some coin for Team Glazer.

  32. Lakeland Says:

The Glazers don’t keep you around for 7 years if they don’t like you
I been preaching this from the beginning of this saga

But it’s obvious, some people are too slow to catch on

  33. Obvious Says:

The player contracts to Luke, Winfield and zyon are somewhat concerning. Luke is a good player but cannot stay healthy. I hope Zyon can be salvaged. Antonio is a good player obviously but his last two years have been inadequate for that contract. And honestly I’m not sure you pay any safety that amount of money.

The bowels extension was insanely stupid. As I understand it that decision came from ownership. He had one more year left on his original deal, correct? What about the ‘24 season made you think he deserved a guaranteed extension? You could have waited to see.

    Awful

  34. FormerBucFan Says:

Who do they think will be tuning in next year. 95% of the fans wanted Todd fired. Another 40 or 50% dislike Baker. Lavonte David and Mike Evans are at the end of careers. Chris Godwin is not the same as pre injury and 30 years old. Top it off last years 1st round wr finished the last 8 games of the year with 23 receptions for under 300 yards and 0 tds. This is a sht show no matter how you present it.

  35. MelvinJunior Says:

HOW can he say that and then NOT elaborate on WHO’s flocking DECISION WAS IT to extend him in the first place!? I know I was absolutely SHOCKED about it as soon as I heard it… ESPECIALLY, when they didn’t even HAVE TO to begin with, THAT SOON. Then, it took me all of about a HALF A SECOND, to realize that they were ‘doubling down’ on ONLY trying to save face over the Coen DISASTER. What a complete JOKE of a current bunch who’s supposedly’running” THIS FRANCHISE. Seriously, they couldn’t have at least waited until AFTER the freaking season!? I mean, hell, NOBODY was looking to STEAL “BOWLES” from them LoL… It’s PATHETIC. MORE WEAK ASS GARBAGE that makes ZERO FREAKING SENSE. Nothing they ever do does. Just IDIOTIC. This is a FAILING FO. And, I find-it VERY ‘telling’ with just HOW VOCAL Ronde is now, concerning BOWLES and NOT LICKT. It says all you need to know. He’s distracting from THE REAL fricking PROBLEM. His “Buddy.”

  36. Tbbucsfan Says:

I hope they did the calculus on what it costs if this team starts 4-2 next year and falls off a cliff once they hit adversity/injuries. The players saw the results this year and it will be a little easier to slip into the void of average play after doing it for so long this year. Then because of that 4-12 season we alter the course of the teams culture into a losing one for the next 4-5 years from the winning one we’ve had for the past 5. Then season ticket sales drop 5% a year for the next 5 years and memorabilia sales drop 25%.

Is that more than the $9million they would have lost cutting Bowles lose now? Cause what I just described isnt a 0% chance of happening or something similar.

  37. HeavyE Says:

Glazers, please don’t make the mistake with (I’m hurt) baker! He doesn’t deserve the 30mil for 2026, Please don’t give him an extension of 50mil per year! That would be the WORSE AND DUMBEST mistake ever!!! Let’s go get Fields, Cousins, and even Tua, or any FA Qb’s out there that are available, & maybe draft a Qb, that is legit!!!! Let’s Go Bucs! Don’t sign baker to an Extension!!!!

  38. Bucs since 76 Says:

Jason Licht needs to draft and sign two defensive ends to make Bowles. defense work if that doesn’t happen we are doomed.

  39. Ultra ClodHopper Says:

havent the Glazers already proved theyre willing to take a hit on coach pay?

  40. Lightningvinny1 Says:

You guys think we matter,, we don’t ,, the fact is the owners are In business to make money,,, I wish it was purely about winning but to these guys it’s about money,, they will make money on the Bucs regardless of the fans show up or not, an empty stadium would look horrible but they would still profit, so fans are just fans,,,, and for those bi*ching about the Man U firing and how much they owe coaches there , Man U is a totally different animal than the Bucs , there is an expectation to win championships, they are viewed simialar to the Dallas Cowboys, The LA Lakers or NY Yankees,, we are looked at as a nice little profit maker, get into the playoffs and win the occasional SB even more profit!

  41. BradentuckeyBuc Says:

Hey Joe, can you do an article on our salary cap situation heading into next season?

  42. Stetematt Says:

I still say it’s the slow linebackers and lack of pass rush that killed the defense. That’s players, not coaches. Let’s see how Bowles does with an infusion of talent and speed. My guess? Quite well. The defense was playing adequately at times even with slow linebacking.

  43. BuccaDAWG Says:

Well Team Glazier showed that they give a rats butt what the fan base thinks or cares about. After all they are first & foremost a soccer owner . Since the Buccs are only the ugly step sister to the boys who play the other football in Europe we as Bucs fans can only hope for the 29 season to not be as brutal as.25 was. Cause the owners told Buccnation to shut up & like what we serve you after all they would rather have us line Man U . Th a n play competitive football in the NFC & THERES 31 other options that don’t run their team like a mouse show

  44. Josh Says:

I gave up this week on this team. They won’t get a penny from me until they bring home another ring. I’ll tune in when it’s on locally here in Colorado, but I’ve all but checked out. Draft? Who cares. End of the this season… there’s a season? Next year, why even pay attention to anything if you have no faith they can win it all? The owners have already shown me they couldn’t care less. So, I hope Bowles and Baker prove me wrong—but until I see a ring, there not getting anything.

    At this point, I’m out, I’m done, I’m free…
Until they win, they get zero from me.

No time. No attention. No more stress. Check the box score and forget ther REST!!

Keep coming here hoping somthing has changed clearly I should give up on that and this team for this next season. Sad day….

  45. HelloKittyBuc Says:

Glazers can easily cut and run and recoup their brief losses from the millstone that is bowles.

  46. HC Grover Says:

Kilroy was here…..up theirs…money is a factor for me too….not a penny for Bucs or NFL.

  47. Bucsalltheway Says:

Exactly what I told folks when they was calling for Todd’s head but I was told the glazers are rich and that would not play a factor…love being a fan with true understanding of what’s going on lol

  48. HC Grover Says:

There is nothing left that I like about the Yucs. Except JBF comments.v They are not worthy top to bottom.

  49. Bucsalltheway Says:

People don’t know how much a rebrand cost on the nfl level bringing in harbaugh cost more and he couldn’t get it done with a mvp qb what do you think he would have brung here besides the “who’s got it better than us….nobody!” B.s. no thanks lol you people are delusional

  50. QB6 Says:

Of course it was all about the money….not the on field product.

The fans are emotionally invested in the franchise and when that trust gets so blatantly disregarded, they check out.

Up until know, we thought ownership was committed to winning a super bowl, now, we suffer under no such delusions.

    You cannot unring a bell.

  51. Bee Says:

But according to the media the Glazers have money to burn and they can pay coaches to do nothing while hiring other top coaches. What happened to that narrative?

Obviously keeping Bowles is about money and I have a feeling this is going to be a cheap year in FA. They’ll have to overpay to get FA here with all the uncertainty.

  52. Bucsalltheway Says:

People begging for monken too like he found ways to scheme Mike evans and DeSean Jackson open and a surging Adam Humphries at the time his offense is doo doo lol…yall want the old bucs back I see lol

  53. Bucsalltheway Says:

    Monken damn auto correct lol

  54. IrishTony Says:

Hey everybody where is Licht? I think they’re in pursuit of McDaniels or Monken. This offense has the potential to score 28-30 pts a game. That wins most games.

  55. Bosch Says:

Arrow is pointing down on Glazers 2026 revenue.

  56. Bucsalltheway Says:

Some.of you guys begging for monken back like he found ways to scheme Mike evans and DeSean Jackson open for a high octane offense…Baltimore offense was super predictable and stalled way too much for my liking…it’s a no..but McDaniels could be refreshing

  57. Ken G Says:

Licht gave Todd the extension. They will rise and fall together next season. Like John Elway riding the Manning singing in Denver for 7 years, you eventually have run out of goodwill for landing the big fish. In the 4 years post-Manning, Denver regressed heavily and Elway eventually got shown the door.

Look at how the seasons have ended:
    2025: 30st ranked defenses
    2024: Washington never punts
    2023: Defense can’t stop Detroit
2022: Brady divorce (not Todd’s fault)
2021: Rams playoff debacle; Cooper Kupp blown coverage; 100% on Todd’s D

4 of the past 5 seasons, Todd’s defense is the proximate cause to the end of the Bucs season. Beyond me why he got an extension to begin with. Compounding the error here. After a slow start in 2026, he”ll be terminated and we’ll be positioning for draft picks in a full rebuild.

  58. Steven007 Says:

I’m not sure why “fans” feel the need to go onto a niche blog about their supposed favorite sports team, and then tell other fans who are interested enough to comment and read the comments, that they will no longer be.. fans. Why the incentive to share that thought when there is no proof that you won’t watch or listen? Just stop being fans. No announcement necessary. Because by merely announcing, you are essentially calling your own bluff.

  59. Colonel Angus Says:

The Glazers can still love Bowles if they let him go. They can take him out on their yachts, have picnics with him, schedule play dates with him. Ain’t nobody said they can’t have contact with the man if they fire him.

  60. Reedoo Says:

In Ronde’s quote, “paid” is doing a lot of work here. Replace with “extended” and it makes more sense. Bowles’ salary is a rounding error for ownership. There’s a long list of franchises with bad owners who make truly stupid, desperate decisions. We’re not on that list. If you think ownership is happy with last season you’re high. They just don’t operate like your average fan.

  61. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Obviously keeping Bowles is about money and I have a feeling this is going to be a cheap year in FA. They’ll have to overpay to get FA here with all the uncertainty.“

Idk man, I’d disagree. You look at positions like ILB, OLB, LG and maybe TE on this team, we’ve got opportunity. Players love gettin paid, no question there but they also like opportunity to compete(and win) and we’ve got some space for that type of player looking to win a job. Now, can we find a guy with talent enough to make a difference and the desire to come earn a job at any of those spots remain to be seen.

  62. LakelandSteve Says:

I think the Bucs need to hire a full time shrink. If they start out hot next year and then fall off like this year, there will be no stopping the losses. Unless you get rid of the guys who are having a negative impact on the team. I don’t care if it is a so called star. Launch one of them and maybe it will wake the rest of the team up. This is it for Bowles, his friendship bailed him out this year but I doubt it will next year. I love the Bucs and want to see them win every game but a zebra can’t change its stripes and the head man is not head coach material. He proves that every year with head scratching coaching decisions.

  63. Adam's Angry Says:

There’s nothing worse than a team that’s in it to make money instead of in it to win. I’ve learned that watching the Mets for 45 years.

  64. Buccintimeforchanges Says:

Cheap AF owners. No way to run two professional franchises on 2 continents.

    Glazers sucks.

  65. MelvinJunior Says:

@ AlstottNumber1 Says: “Luckily I still have college football to watch and golf on Sundays.”

College Football is a farrrr better product and game. Just everything about it and it’s NOT EVEN CLOSE. I mean, just think of the constant DRAMA with these coaching buy-outs and hires, and with the transfer-portal, and just EVERYTHING. Hell, it’s A LOT BETTER than any Lifetime or streaming movie or series… This is REAL-LIFE. People on here should really start DVR’ing PAWL and watching HIM everyday!!!! Get into NCAA Football, if you haven’t yet already, and are looking for something new!!!!

The stadiums. The crowds. The campus life and feel. The ENERGY. The uniforms. Mascots. Colors. The cheerleaders. HOT GIRLS in the stands. BANDS. The “Fight Songs.” The Conferences. Traditions. The History. RIVALRIES. Just the week leading up to THE GAME. Games kicking-off literally, all day long. The BIG-PLAYS. HITS. The MANY different styles of play. The offensive ingenuity. Just everything about it AND MORE. Too much to list. COLLEGE FOOTBALL (and THE SEC, Baby!) is WHERE IT’s AT. The NFL is not even close… It CANNOT BE Duplicated.

The NFL has NONE of THAT. And, has become just waaaayyy too ‘technical’ AND BORING. I’ve been sitting in front of a TV for 12+HOURS, literally EVERY SATURDAY now, for 40+YEARS (and I’m only 49 LoL). When, not AT the games of course. Even then, we’re still watching and paying attention to EVERY game across the country, all-night and day. I really miss listening to old “Leonard’s Losers” on the radio, when I was a little kid on Saturday Mornings. He was THE ABSOLUTE BEST EVER. 💯 💯 💯 💯

  66. TampaTown Says:

Me and all my season ticket holder friends have selected “opt out” on our contracts (means we’re out already). If ownership allows the Packers and the Steelers to take over the stadium in the 2026 season, none of us will be back.

  67. Newbie Says:

Someone asked about salary cap. Per Overthecap.com for Bucs are $24,398,563 under the cap for 2026.

Here are some guaranteed salaries for next season.
    Godwin 22M
    McCollum 14.6M
    Goedeke 22M
    Wirfs 26M

    Bigger Cap charges for ’26-
    Baker 39M
    Evans 13M
    Godwin 33.6M
    Wirfs 36M
    Goedeke 22.8M
    Bredsden 8.7M
    Barton 3.8M
    Mauch 2.3M
    Winfield 27M
    McCollum 15.6M
    Vea 22M
    Nelson 5.6M
    Kancey 4.6M

    Riley Dixon 3M

  68. TampaTown Says:

I should add on top of retaining Bowles and the defensive situation here.

  69. MelvinJunior Says:

@ QB6 Says: “Of course it was all about the money….not the on field product.

The fans are emotionally invested in the franchise and when that trust gets so blatantly disregarded, they check out.

Up until know, we thought ownership was committed to winning a super bowl, now, we suffer under no such delusions.

    You cannot unring a bell.”

    💯

  70. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Bucsalltheway Says: “Exactly what I told folks when they was calling for Todd’s head but I was told the glazers are rich and that would not play a factor…love being a fan with true understanding of what’s going on lol.”

    YEP! 💯

  71. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Heavy E SAYS (lol): “Let’s go get Fields, Cousins, and even Tua, or any FA Qb’s out there that are available.”

What the hell are YOU ON!? Seriously, WHAT the hell are YOU ON!? I want to stay farrrrr away from IT. And, normally, I would be interested Lmao.

  72. Faspro Says:

Yep, that’s what I thought; they just extended his contract six months ago, why would they lose millions? I don’t wanna hear about how much revenue they pull in as a franchise, it just would not make financial sense to fire him and hire another HC for even more money than what Bowles was making… and who knows how successful said coach would be? It’s too much of a risk…

  73. Davenport Says:

So much for all the commitment to winning BS in their Prime series. Choosing to dave money with a likeable coach is hurting the team – especially if he’s still running the defense.

I’ve been a fan for all 50 years & I am running out of seasons ahead of me. Thank you Glazers for wasting one or two more.

  74. WM Says:

like always my comments don’t get posted GARBAGE JUST LIKE THIS TEAM

  75. Logic Says:

    Lakeland is Rod Munch.

  76. View from 132 Says:

That’s fair. Same reason I no longer attend games.

  77. HC Grover Says:

TX Ronde. We knoe exept for our resident Moron Lakeland.

  78. JohnQCitizen Says:

Fed up with the Glazers and Bowles. It’ll be hard to have interest in watching their losing season. Go Bears.

  79. HC Grover Says:

Newbie…..Time for a total NFL collapse….overpaid clown players and coachesl

  80. HC Grover Says:

Lakeland is a paid shill. No one could be that stupid.

  81. Oneilbuc Says:

They’re tanking and they just don’t want to say it but this looks like a tank season!!

  82. firethecannons Says:

Glazers are cheap AF done with caring bout Bucs

  83. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    Bill Callahan? 🤔

  84. Bucsfan339 Says:

Don’t know if anyone’s seen it yet, but the Bucs interviewed Brian Callahan. He was garbage with the Titans. But before that was the bengals Offensive coordinator from 2019-23 when Burrow was putting up numbers.

  85. Lakeland Says:

All you idiots was hoping the Bucs miss the playoffs and Bowles get fired

They were going to retain Bowles, playoffs or no playoffs
And you thought your threats were going to influence the Glazers

Evidently the Glazers don’t give 2 cents about your threats or your opinion
You fake, pathetic Bucs fans are still in mourning

    😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

    Cry me a River

  86. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

Perhaps the Glazers have adopted the Rays model. Let’s just not pretend anymore that winning really matters to them. Go all in never resign good (or bad) players to extensions, lowball cheap coaches and trade all first and second round picks because Todd L likes those late round (cheap) picks. Think “channel inner Culverhouse”. Great times.

  87. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    “Lakeland is Rod Munch.“

    Finkle is Einhorn

  88. Newbie Says:

Bill Callahan is fantastic OL coach. Things didnt go well in Nashville for his kid Brian but he did well while in Cincy. Then again hard not to when you have Burrow, Chase and Higgins.

  89. Ricky Says:

Yes Lakeland is the real fan, they fired most of his staff and they did try for Harbaugh, so they are looking. If the oportunity is there which for me it is with McDaniels, they will jump on it

  90. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

Vince Namoli is very proud of the Glazers

  91. CONFIDO75 Says:

I don’t care at this point. They made a decision. Bowles is the HC. They let go of all the people I recommended. Now its time to hire great coaches and Bowles to be a CEO HC, which he will do well at. I am just waiting to see them hire a DC from outside OBC. If Bowles continues to be the DC, or promotes from within, this is all a lost cause, as it would indicate he did not learn from his mistakes. We’ll see where this goes soon enough.

Hopefully this isn’t a case of “penny wise, pound foolish.”

  93. Tye Says:

Sad reality is IBS is WAY overpaid for the product he has put on the field!

  94. Ben Says:

They’ll likely lose more money with Todd than what it would take to fire him.

  95. Buc1987 Says:

    I miss Coen.

  96. Tye Says:

Sad reality is IBS is WAY overpaid!

  97. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

Just like the hiring of Raheem Morris. Money tied to ManU and us Bucs fans are left to suffer. Disappointed completely.

Maybe there is a plan to hire another HC once the Super Bowl is over.

  98. ModHairKen Says:

Well, I hope the analysis of lost ticket and hot dog revenue with Bowles versus paying him to leave and hiring a qualified Head Coach works out for them.

They will not be getting any of Ken’s money. That’s fo sho.

  99. HC Grover Says:

    I find the Bucs Disgusting.

  100. TexasBuc 1776 Says:

Been a die-hard fan since 1976 when I lived in Ocala. Moved to Texas in 1983, still kept season tickets till ’92 when, after a 3-13 result in ’91, cheapscate Culverhouse raised the prices. Since then go to one or two games a year. One in Tampa and an away game. Spend 3-4 hundred on merch, my firstborn is a fan too. We are done till TB is gone.

  101. Marky mark Says:

They Are also losing millions on ManU because they missed out on Euro champ league last year and ,are still a billion in debt on the leveraged buy out 20 years ago of Manu a publicly traded team. They have to file with the sec as they are listed on the NYSE.

  102. Miller5252 Says:

I think the money played a factor just because they spent a boat load on their 50th year movie and everything else tied to the 50th year

  103. Bucs3 Says:

    Bucs are stuck with
    Coach “Dollar Tree”

  104. unbelievable Says:

Duh. This is what I told ya’ll.

And is the exact reason I said that contract extension for him before the season started was completely moronic.

And now we’re stuck with a lameduck HC who panic fired all his assistants (some who def deserved it), but will still try to trot out the same broken defensive scheme in 2026. Say hello to a nice 2nd or 3rd place finish in the worst division in football. Hooray!

  105. Hawk Says:

Is it possible that the Falcon opening also has something to do with the retention of Coach Bowles? It’s one thing for your competition to snatch a waived player for intel. It’s a whole nuther thing to scoop a head coach who has intimate knowledge of *every* player as well as the GM and scouts. And the Falcons might see Coach Bowles as their ‘Gruden’.

  106. bud liked tht bucs Says:

allready paying ronde raise the ante make him dc or asst dc

  108. BucitList Says:

I hate the Falcons, but just listened to their owner’s press conference after firing their coach after a 8-9 season. He truly has the mentality our ownership doesn’t…

First Quote: “Good is the enemy of great.”

Second Quote: “I feel myself as the custodian for the fans and when they felt pain and anguish and frustration, I felt pain anguish and anger myself. So this was a very thoughtful decision. We are here for our fans, and without them it’s just sandlot football. We owe it to them to make the right decisions in their behalf.”

  109. Tim burke Says:

Well, it was obviously cheaper to fire assistant coaches than Bowlzo! JASON HAS HAS HAS!!! TO GO GET A PASS RUSHER, MAYBE 2! YOU NEED A REPLACEMENT FOR LAVONTE, AT LEAST 2 GOOD! GOOD COVER CORNERS, AND???? A COUPLE OF GOOD SOLID EXTRA OL GUYS FOR BACKUPS WHEN LINEMEN START DROPPING LIKE FLIES!!
AND SOMEBODY HAS TO TELL BOWLZO TO START ADJUSTING ON THE FLY FASTER WITH HIS DEFENSES!!!!!!
HONESTLY I DONT SEE THIS TEAM DO BETTER THAN 8-9, MAYBLE 10 WINS TOPS,

  110. BucU Says:

The Glazers should be awarded the most moronic owners of 2025. The idiots give The Fraud an extension for no reason whatsoever. All in on the worst coach in the NFL. Good thing they got daddy’s money to fall back on.

  111. BucU Says:

Grover the ast majority of us find the Bucs organization disgusting. They’re amateurs in every way. LOSERS.

  112. Proudbucsfan Says:

Well if money was a factor to not fire bowls. Money is gonna be a factor in me not buying tickets and gear this year.

  113. Hodad Says:

    I don’t like him.

  114. Hopalong Bucco Says:

How about getting the Glazers to sell this team! They have no idea of how to run a professional sports franchise. The Bucs are a mess and will continue to be so in the future. Let them go and fix Man U

  115. CalBucsFan Says:

Interesting, Harbaugh’s fired because he wouldn’t agree to get rid of Moniken, and Bowles survives after cutting most of his assistant coaches.

At least one of those HC has principles.

  116. MostlyPeacefulTraskMob Says:

LOL no spit? You don’t say?

  117. HeavyE Says:

Hey MJjr, I understand, I just want a better QB, that’s all, just not baker for that kind of money…..

  118. MostlyPeacefulTraskMob Says:

I won’t be following the Bucs next year. This team is a clown show.

  119. BucaneroJim Says:

About the money… yep, pay me $10,000 and I watch the games in 2026.

  120. Juan Hung Low Says:

These guys are billionaires with a B

They eat $60 million in losses and it’s all tax write off

There has to be more to the story

  121. Juan Hung Low Says:

Say an NFL franchise is worth $7 billion and they lose $60 million in revenue. What percentage is that and what is the equivalent to someone that makes $100,000 a year?

Let’s break it down step by step.

    Percentage of the franchise value
    • Franchise value: $7,000,000,000
    • Revenue loss: $60,000,000

    60,000,000 = 0.00857 \approx 0.86%

So the loss is about 0.86% of the franchise’s value.

    Equivalent for someone making $100,000/year

    Apply the same percentage:

    0.86% X 100,000 = $857

    Chump change

  122. John Mason Says:

So you keep a POS coach because of money……It did not matter in the Dungy and Gruden sacking….this is nonsense….they have millions to spare….and Bowles is one of the lowest paid HC’s in the NFL…how cheap can you be…Season ticker holders really should boycott!

  123. JohnnyGee Says:

The demonstration is that Bucs head coach doesn’t need to be accountable for results. This percolates through the whole team. Nothing has been fixed.

  124. Weebs10 Says:

Give us an article on Jim Ratcliffe, Joes!

  125. Jmarkbuc Says:

Tried to find Bowles actual salary.

Could be anywhere from 3-15 Million per.

So a buyout could be from 9-45 Million. Plus the salary for a new, real coach.

Bud Licht really covered his azz while screwing us.

  126. Dom>Licht Says:

Believe it was Mark Cuban that said some owners are in the business to make money others are here to win Championships!!! IF MONEY had any factor in the decision sale the team!

    Hugh Glazerhouse

  128. Cleanhouse Says:

The Glazer sister runs the show nowadays.

  129. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Juan Hung Low Says: “chump change.”

They don’t have $7-BILLION (with a “B”) just lying around like that. It’s not the same thing. You have absolutely NO CLUE their financials, as far as actual PROFIT/LOSS, CASH ON HAND, EXPENSES, ETC. And, I get so sick of people (who don’t know what the hell they’re talking about), who try to insinuate that it’s just no big-deal for “companies/corporations” taking HUGE LOSSES, that they can just “write-it OFF” like that, while acting as if they are just intentionally or purposely doing so. It’s Absurd. It doesn’t work that way! NOT like what some people think and just assume… I suppose they’ve just heard it’ someplace before, and repeat it is TRUTH. I have friends who used to say this constantly about a particular ‘failing’ local business, and it’s owners. As if they were continuing to keep the business ‘open’ just for THAT REASON ALONE. I told them that they absolutely did NOT purchase that restaurant, JUST for the write-off. I mean, it was just absurd. Now, there are certain, very specific reasons to need to do such, BUT there are many other, MUCH BETTER ways to achieve a “write-off.” TRUST-ME… I Can Assure You, That They Are NOT HAPPY ABOUT LOSING $60-MILLION ON ANYTHING, & is still a pretty big deal. 💯

  130. MelvinJunior Says:

You do know that each one of those Glazer Heirs DON’T get or receive a $7-BILLION Annual SALARY, for each individual one, right!?

  131. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Cleanhouse Says: “The Glazer sister runs the show nowadays.”

That’s what I’m thinking. I don’t believe ANY of them know what the hell they’re doing. They’re NOT “football people,” and they are aloof. I don’t believe they are connected and attuned with ANYONE or ANYTHING to do with the MODERN LEAGUE. And, neither is Lickt. It is a HUGE PROBLEM going forward. It’s going to play a monster part in getting a ‘top-tier’ HC to replace Bowles. I just can’t see ANY ‘high-level’ YOUNG ‘up-and-coming’ STUD HC willing to come HERE, and being under Jason LICKT. There is just way possible. It Ain’t Happenin. We are SO SCREWED. I said immediately, as soon as they LOST COEN, that decisions and moves like THESE do tend to have a very ‘high’ probability of being FRANCHISE ALTERING… Potentially, even for DECADES. For one reason other than, if not for anything else… But, it being a HUGE “Warning Sign” of MAJOR PROBLEMS AHEAD. And, as long as they keep THIS current group together (B.A./LICKT/BOWLES/etc.)… We will be well on our way!

The sooner they can STOP living in the past (because they “like them”), then the SOONER we can move-on. I just don’t think they Fricken know any better, and don’t have even the first clue, WHAT TO DO. They are LOST with NO ANSWERS, and have NO ‘connections’ to anyone who does. They just have to tear-it ALL DOWN. Then, moving forward, NEVER AGAIN ‘allow yourself’ to get STUCK with all these ex-players and ex-coaches being IN-HOUSE. They’re going to have start conversing with (&/or hire) current modern day “FOOTBALL PEOPLE,” who have their finger on the pulse.

  132. Crazyhorse54 Says:

While coach news is king right now, could you update us on the recovery process of Mauch, Bredeson, Baker, Wirfs?

  133. PoundTheRock Says:

Cowardly move by the Glazers. It was incredibly evident that this team quit on Bowles going 2-7 in the last 9 games after their bye. That alone should have got his a$$ FIRED. The team played no juice and no emotion. He should have been FIRED as soon as our game ended on Saturday. Period!

Now coming out of the bye it was going to be difficult with games against Pats, Bills and Rams. I was hoping to split with Pats and Bills, because I knew damn well McVey was going to feed Bowles his lunch like he always does. Bucs went 0-3. Which should tell the glazers that we can’t hang with the top teams in the league…

However, the next 6 game stretch is a complete tell, and absolute grounds to be FIRED. Cards, Aints, Birds, Panthers, Fins, Panthers combined were 40-62. Panthers are the only team playing with their #1 QB. 2 rookie QB’s (Shough, Ewers), although only Todd Bowles D can make rookie QB’s look like Pro Bowlers. Tampa was only able to win 2 out of 6 against these awful teams.

    That is absolutely embarrassing! FIRED!

The national media keep telling us that Bowles is a defensive genius/savant…he is absolutely not. Have you ever witnessed a DC like Bowles get so much run from one game (SB55) when the D harassed Mahomes all day. However, what the media conveniently leaves out, was KC was without both their starting OT’s. Bowles deserves credit, but c’mon…Bowles is so overrated it is ridicules. His D used to make teams 1 dimensional where they couldn’t run the ball…now they can stop neither the run nor the pass.

Since the bye Bucs D were ranked …
    Points/GM 28.4 Rank 28th
    Total YDS/GM 368 Rank 29th
    Pass YDS/GM 257 Dead Last

    Should be FIRED!

These were the ranks during the Miami game, as it came up on a graphic during game, so ranking may have changed slightly…however the point is the unit coached by a defensive genius/savant Bowles was incredibly bad. Grizzard’s offensive unit was poor and got fired, Bowles unit was much worse, and he kept his job. Please make it make sense…please!

Also, side note, Mike McDaniel has the identical record as Bowles over the last 4 seasons of 35-33 and he got turfed, tell me again why Bowles didn’t…oh ya the 3 NFC South Titles that were basically smoke and mirrors because of how poor the South (3 other teams win % .390) was over that period of time. If anyone points to these NFC South titles, they are in dreamland and pretending! Hmmmm actually Bowles did point to that during is Monday presser, saying he deserves to remain the HC because of the division titles…he is the pretender!

Again, an absolute coward move by the Glazers. The fans have had enough and will demonstrate with their wallets.

Signed a pi$$ed off Bucs fan!

  134. Gipper Says:

Foolish to give that extension to Todd. He wasn’t in any danger of being poached by another team. Have to wonder about the lunacy of NFL team managements.
