Black Monday Had A Head Start
January 5th, 2026Two things got a jump start on Monday business last night.
The first was, oil stocks spiked in the wake of this past weekend’s news events in South America. Thankfully, Joe already owns shares in several oil companies (they generally pay good dividends).
The other was Artie Blank in Atlanta got a jump on the rest of the NFL and decided to have a housecleaning. Among the victims is former Bucs coach Raheem Morris, who is now also the former head coach of the Dixie Chicks.
Joe was very surprised about Raheem. He won the last four games of the season. The Dixie Chicks also missed out on a playoff berth on a tiebreaker and Raheem developed rookie edge rusher James Pearce.
Meanwhile, Bucs fans stare glumly at their Chris Braswell autographs and suck down their last cold Bud Light in the fridge.
Raheem also lost his starting quarterback to injury but somehow found a way to win games despite injuries. Interesting.
Of course, Bucs fans see this news about Raheem and it only reignites their desire for Team Glazer to make a move with Bucs coach Todd Bowles.
For those looking for answers, Joe will point to a video put out by the four-letter yesterday morning of Adam Schefter discussing coaches on the hot/warm/chilly/freezing seat. Schefter had Bowles in the safe category, but noted that the door is not yet closed on a firm decision.
In the very same video, Schefter also had Raheem in the safe category. Do what you wish with this information.
Bowles is scheduled to discuss the just-ended 2025 Bucs season at length with the local pen and mic club this afternoon.

January 5th, 2026 at 12:04 am
Venezuela it’s in South America
January 5th, 2026 at 12:08 am
Btw, Joe’s, SOC….i got in at 4.50 when it dropped hard….still riding it.
January 5th, 2026 at 12:17 am
Was hoping to see that Bowles had been fired tonight.
January 5th, 2026 at 12:22 am
Fire Bowles too Glazers!!!
January 5th, 2026 at 12:23 am
Atl will get Stefanski, if fired, Brady or Kubiak.
January 5th, 2026 at 12:24 am
Bowles had four years to prove the Jets coaching job was no fluke. He had too many chances to right the ship to no avail. He had the GOAT n gave him the worse record of his career due to poor coaching, poor decision making, n poor clock management, n ultimately handcuffing a season experienced seven time superbowl winner. I believe Bowles wanted credit and refused to include Brady on calling certain plays. He wanted to prove to everyone that this is his team in which he inherited a winning 12-5 record only to regress to a losing season at
8-9. Three years later n we’re 8-9 again. Bowles was grandfathered in as head coach n now the party’s over sweet Georgia.
January 5th, 2026 at 12:30 am
I live in Atlanta and all I’ve heard gor the last 6 weeks is distain for Ra, the GM, Kirk and McKay.
Yes they want Rich gone.
Im not sure why firing Ra would surprise anyone. Hes a BELOW average coach. They don’t accept mediocrity.
They know Bijan is a MVP type and they have a window with him. They need to develop Penix and they will have the makings with Bijan, Drake and Penix.
Their next hire is the guy who can develop Penix.
January 5th, 2026 at 12:33 am
Bye boring, slovenly Ree Todd.
January 5th, 2026 at 12:39 am
If Bowles is retained, I will not resubscribe to sunday ticket or nfl+ because the only reason for me having said subscriptions is to watch Bucs games. I will not watch if he is our coach next year. Period
January 5th, 2026 at 12:43 am
Fire Todd
January 5th, 2026 at 12:43 am
BigZ. They were all fired because they drafted Penix which has not worked. Simple as that Atlanta homer fan. Haha
January 5th, 2026 at 12:44 am
Please fire Todd
January 5th, 2026 at 12:49 am
Bring back Gruden!!
January 5th, 2026 at 12:59 am
Dmatt from the top rope of everything true
January 5th, 2026 at 1:00 am
Looks like Atlanta beats us at everything! They even fired their coach before we took care of business here?
January 5th, 2026 at 1:18 am
I’ll vote for 4 more years, but not for Todd bowls. Performance matters.
January 5th, 2026 at 1:22 am
They will retain Bowles and Licht because all of your opinions mean nothing…. Enjoy your s**t sandwich Bucs fans. Bring in Raheem to coach D Line…. Or help draft one. He had a 10 sack rookie
January 5th, 2026 at 1:22 am
Buc4L. Life long Buc fan, dumb ass. Had tix for 16 years.
Penix looked good at times. Now they are trying to save him.
January 5th, 2026 at 1:24 am
Talking about oil stocks in a post about coaches being fired is a really weird non-sequitur.
January 5th, 2026 at 1:33 am
They don’t fire Bowles I cancel NFL Sunday Ticket.

Rod Munch: If Baker plays great it’s because of the Offensive Coordinator not Baker
If Baker plays bad it’s because of Baker
January 5th, 2026 at 1:36 am
if Bucs do not seize the day and hire a winner as HC then the Bucs will be 3rd at best in the NFCS for several years to come!
January 5th, 2026 at 1:38 am
Damn… won his last 4 and Raheem is out.
Maybe folks didn’t like how he cost tha Falcons a kings ransom for Cousins… only to bench him…
January 5th, 2026 at 2:55 am
Just a little FYI… I did say James Pearce was a “GOOD MOVE” for them, as long as THEY felt comfortable with his off-field stuff. It was minor and hell, HE’s a KID. Under the proper FO and Coaches, he’ll be fine… He’s a FREAK. Yeah, they gave up their 2026 1st, BUT it wasn’t nearly as bad as it ‘sounded’ after you looked at the overall package and details of the trade… They ended up getting back an extra 3rd, and stuff. So, not horrible. They gave up their 2nd for the Rams 1st, and got a TOP-5/10 TALENT (minus the off-field). It was worth the risk for THEM. To pair with Jalon Walker, & then THEY ‘HIT’ on the Safety Watts with their 3rd. They’ve been every bit just as desperate as the Bucs have been for a Pass Rusher, & THEY SOLVED-IT. Walker dealt with a ‘hamstring’ and was banged-up a lot this season, but HE’LL BE FINE. He’s A STUD. Knew it’d take him a year, and I would’ve LOVED TO have seen it under the mentorship of LVD. 4.0 Student. EXPLOSIVE. 4.4/40. Butkus Award WINNER (runner-up in HS). 5-star prospect STUD. FREAK ANIMAL. Son of a Coach. Great Basketball Player, Track, & OUTSTANDING Human Being. Extremely SMART and well-spoken. LEADER. Great Speaker, too… Did several SECnetwork commercials, and interviewed multiple-times on the PAWL Finebaum Show. They had a GREAT DRAFT. And, the GM STILL GOT LAUNCHED. That’s because Old Art wants a GM to hire HIS GUY, for the new HC. It’s how it WORKS. It just MAKES SENSE.
January 5th, 2026 at 3:02 am
I want Gruden back! See what he can do with Baker.
January 5th, 2026 at 3:23 am
@ Bucwild Says: “I want Gruden back! See what he can do with Baker.”
That is SO ABSURD, that I wanted to ‘repost it’ so that you could take another LOOK and reread AGAIN, what YOU JUST WROTE. It’s NUTS. It’s like this very weird adult Bucs Fantasyland. I’m tellin’ ya!
January 5th, 2026 at 4:42 am
Just fire the problem. The Sewer of Shame will get hit with an asteroid if they don’t send Belowszo to the fat farm on Monday as the former head coach and defenseless coordinator of the Yuccaneers.
January 5th, 2026 at 5:22 am
During the Failcons and Aints game they also had a graphic which showed that Arthur Blank wanted to retain Raheem and it had like 2 other goals for next season. Looks like lil Schefty had bad info
January 5th, 2026 at 5:54 am
Ironically the manager/head coach of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim, has today been sacked. Have the Glazer family got their head coaches mixed up and sacked the wrong one?!
January 5th, 2026 at 6:03 am
as you can see from past seasons the bucs head coach needs to have an offensive mind arians, gruden, coen, canales. defensive coordinators can be scooped up as coen did with the jags.
January 5th, 2026 at 6:13 am
First Last Schefty is probably friends with Rah’s and Bowles’ agent, heck he might even have the same guy representing him.
January 5th, 2026 at 6:16 am
Bowlzo must go, but I don’t want Gruden either. A lot of laze players are gonna go too. On both sides of the ball. It would be easier to guess who we will keep. Even Baker isn’t safe.
January 5th, 2026 at 6:16 am
I am sure the Glazers do not “want” to fire Bowles but they probably did not want to fire Chuckie or Tony Dungy either. Lets see how things pan out over the next couple of days. If there is a change, maybe the new HC will want Rah on his defensive staff. The firing of Rah is just going to make it that much harder for the Glazers to justify retaining Bowles. I know the apologists (a couple write for the local dying newspaper) think he could survive if he fires Grizzard, McGaughey and has most of his older defensive coaches “retire”. My counter argument is, why keep Todd? He allowed the other coaches to fail and he might have even intervened in some situations (like having Grizzard go turtle in Carolina), we will never know. Additionally, how can he be allowed to call plays anymore? Bowles refused to adjust his schemes to the many weaknesses and few strength his players had. If I were the Glazers, I would be afraid he would hire a DC and then yank his play calling ability and take it over himself. Also, why would any good coach want to coach for a guy who is going to be on the hot seat in 2026. Much easier to fire Todd.
January 5th, 2026 at 6:23 am
What are they waiting for? Todd should already be at home unpacking his office stuff from the stadium.
January 5th, 2026 at 6:29 am
Not going to continue to support (since 76) an organization that’s OK with being a .500 ball club! My oldest grandson has become a huge Jags fan (switching from the Bucs two tears ago), so maybe it’s time for a change! I can see it happening if ownership stands pat with these terrible coaches!
January 5th, 2026 at 6:36 am
That headline is a double entendre. The Glazers may have their hand forced.. Everyone in the south is improving except for them. I would not be surprised if the birds grab van pelt first. Young first-year coaches care ruling this year. Old Raiders guy and old Belachick having a hard time adjusting.
January 5th, 2026 at 6:46 am
Made two comments on this site…no cursing or name calling and they were taken down! Forget JBF!
January 5th, 2026 at 6:52 am
Very simple for me. If Bowles is retained I’m out. He’s simply an awful awful HC.
January 5th, 2026 at 6:56 am
Key !
The Falcons are owned by the single person
The Bucs are owned and run my committee of family members
Never a good model for leadership!
Somehow the Bucs managed two Lombardi Trophy RENTALS!
I have lost ALL faith in the owners
The COMMITTEE let Liam Coen escape the COMMITTEE and go to a franchise run by a single Voice!
🤮🤮🤮🤮
At least in the 0-26 days there was hope!
January 5th, 2026 at 6:56 am
Driving back to work this morning and listening to 620, they had some scenarios too. I am leaning on the one scenario that Todd comes to the podium and retires. This may have been planned already. Todd will be 63 in November, has plenty of time in the NFL, and probably has a solid extension contract. He has never been flashy and probably has lived his life comfortably and low maintenance with plenty of savings to do so.
I really admire Todd for his demeanor and skill-sets, and he isn’t the only one to take on blame for the Bucs. There are others. Sorry to say, but it should be an all around rebuild. I respect Jason, BA, Grizz, and others for what they do, but it may be time for an entirely new style and thinking.
January 5th, 2026 at 6:58 am
The Glazers remind me of the scene in The Jerk when Steve Martin was working at the gas station and he was mystified by the oil cans leaking oil
January 5th, 2026 at 7:02 am
While not an Arthur Blank fan you have to respect owners who want to win and are results driven. Not being afraid to clean house shows a desire to win.
We will see if the Bucs ownership has the smarts to do the same or just want to be mired in failure.
January 5th, 2026 at 7:03 am
Clean house starting with Jason Lite
Ronde Barber for General Manager!
January 5th, 2026 at 7:05 am
Early prediction…..Bowles-OUT, Raheem Morris-IN (again). This is what they do, you should understand this. They might even give the DC job to Bowles! CLOWN WORLD…over and over again!
January 5th, 2026 at 7:07 am
Now this franchise has to compete with Atlanta for the same HC pool
Working for a single owner is a win over working for a committee
Every candidate understands that!
Sell the team and move on Glazers!
January 5th, 2026 at 7:25 am
I am not too worried about the Falcons. Remember the one good thing the Falcons are good at is “falconing”, while real Buc fans may not be happy with how things went down this season the Bucs have 2 Lombardis and the Falcons zero plus the memory of losing a 28-3 game when they had the Lombardi within their grasp. The Falcons are stuck in mediocrity because of a guy named Rich McKay. He still likes to run things in the ATL and thus you will see the ATL hire weak GMs and clowns like Rah. At least the Glazers managed to hire Chuckie and Arians. Only a troll looking to gaslight Buc fans would try to say Buc fans envy the ATL Falcons and its history or that the ATL Falcons will do anything successfully. I’ll take 2 Lombardis to nada any day of the week.
However, let us not forget the main focus: Bowles needs to go, that is a fact.
January 5th, 2026 at 7:34 am
Atlanta is the very poster child of a mediocre franchise.
January 5th, 2026 at 7:55 am
One notable omission in this article is that Atlanta not only fired Rah, but they also fired the GM Fontenot. Bucs should do the same with Licht-Clean House.
January 5th, 2026 at 8:57 am
Little Richie McKay was tossed out too ….
January 5th, 2026 at 9:02 am
It shouldn’t be surprising. Glazers always wait to long to do anything. If they do anything at all.
January 5th, 2026 at 9:48 am
SB~LV – I actually think Rich was promoted, but I could be wrong.
January 5th, 2026 at 10:06 am
There should absolutely NO HESITATION in firing Bowles!!! He’s proven to be a sub par coach his entire career..why thr Glazers are hesitating to send him down the road is inexcusable and they absolutely need to stop listening to Arians and his lame opinions regarding Bowles…anyone, and I mean anyone who knows anything about football can see what a poor head coach he is. Searching for the best players in useless when you refuse to hire a good head coach. The fans will be in an uproar if they retain this coach and rightfully so.
January 5th, 2026 at 10:18 am
The hate should be blasted at Licht as much as Bowles…. He put the hot mess together knowing what he had as a HC. Both need to go. BTW, he should be in the Ring of Shame not Ring of Honor, Joe.
January 5th, 2026 at 10:30 am
If you own a bunch of oil stocks you’re invested in the end of the world.
Insane.
We have killed off like 80% of the world’s species with oil. And the planet is a hotbox getting warmer every year.

LOL! Yes – the Falcons are the team with a long history of success and championships that you want to use as a role model for your own team.
January 5th, 2026 at 10:59 am
FortMyersDave – McKay was moved out of football management many years ago. He lead the effort to build the new stadium and then does a ton of stuff with the NFL rules committee- but I think he’s in more of an advisory role now.
January 5th, 2026 at 11:13 am
No matter how you look at this situation with Bowles, if the Glazers keep him as coach how are you going to spin this to fans who have seen the same thing every year. If they want an empty stadium with only the other teams fans at home games, go ahead and keep him. No amount of spin will justify keeping him.
January 5th, 2026 at 11:18 am
“This Joe” and Ira need to pour out the facts. All of the evidence. All the blunders, slop, lack of detail in preparation, game planning, practice. A defensive guy who oversees one of the league’s worst defenses while he’s not bollocksing up special teams and offense with his horrible “head coaching” effort. But at least he’s still clueless about game management. And at least they make the same mistakes over and over and can’t tackle.
C’mon guys. You have the platform. Use it.
January 5th, 2026 at 12:48 pm
Come on….We are trading coaches! Morris to Tampa(again), and Bowles goes to ATL ! Simple math.
