Becoming A Slimy Saints Fan… For Three Hours Only

January 4th, 2026

Bucs players to hold noses and embrace the slimy Saints.

You think you have it tough today!

Bucs fans will have their patience tried to the maximum extent today. For the Bucs to make the playoffs and host a playoff game next weekend, the slimy Saints must beat the Dixie Chicks. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.

Joe has a hunch that no matter the circumstances, Bucs fans are like Joe: They’d rather chug battery acid than root for the slimy Saints. But here we are.

But imagine you are a Bucs player. The team that tries to take you out physically twice a year, all of a sudden, you have to be their fan so you can collect a playoff check.

Think of how Chris Godwin feels. That scumbag team damn near stole his career. Now he has to hope that the team that tried to take him out for good wins. Too much, man.

So Joe asked a few Bucs players last night what’s going through their minds. They admit they are morally confused.

“I will definitely be watching tomorrow,” Bucs center Graham Barton said. “Obviously rooting for the Saints. Weird to say, but 100 percent hope to get it done.

“I just couldn’t imagine losing tonight and watching the Saints win tomorrow. So being able to control what we can control this week to get it done is pretty awesome.

“Now we wait and see.”

Bucs All-Pro safety Antoine Winfield said he’s even going to wear a Saints jersey as he chills on his couch. Joe couldn’t let that go and asked him about this slimy Saints jersey he owns.

Winfield said it’s a jersey of a friend of his that he had a jersey swap with. Winfield wouldn’t out the guy.

“It kind of sucks but I am the biggest Saints fan in the world. For tomorrow. For [three hours], that’s it,” Winfield joked with Joe.

Cade Otton has adopted the slimy Saints in such a way, he told Joe to make sure that when Joe quotes him saying “Geaux Saints,” Joe spells it in proper Cajun.

“It is weird,” Otton said. “And I hate to say it, but, ‘Who dat?’ Geaux Saints.

“I will be waiting around cheering on the Saints, which is weird.”

Otton said he didn’t know if he was even going to watch the game or if he did, would he stay home or gather with teammates.

“It is going to be hard to determine if there will be a watch party or not, to watch the game or not watch it?” Otton said. “I will definitely be waiting on the result tomorrow.”

And after the game, Joe guesses Bucs fans and players alike will need to guzzle Pepto Bismol and take a shower to rinse off all the slimy Saints grime. Gross!

I’ll throw up a little bit in my mouth, but whatever…WHO DAT?

  2. RagingBrisket Says:

But rooting for the Falcons to lose is very easy
F the Saints but they do love to rough up the Falcons. Bunch of pussees

  3. Jody McKinzie Says:

In the end, this team shouldn’t be here. We win one or two games we were supposed ro win and this doesn’t happen. Prior Proper Procedure Prevents Piss Poor Performance! The 7 P’s.

  4. Jody McKinzie Says:

    AKA coaching sucks

    Tomorrow, it’s JoeSaintsfan.com

  7. Leopold Stotch Says:

Gross. I can’t do it. I don’t care. I will never cheer for a divisional opponent. I will be the equivalent of Todd Bowles during the game. Whatever happens, happens and that’s it. They shouldn’t have played like spit after the bye to put themselves (and us fans) in this situation.

  8. Bucs Reality Check Says:

    GO FALCONS!

Only chance the Bucs have at major success over the next few years is a completely new coaching stuff. A new GM might be needed as well.

  9. TheBigSombreo Says:

Kirk Cousins is too good for Atlanta to lose.

The Falcons have been strong that last few weeks.

It would take a miracle for the Saints to upset Cousins.

  10. Permanently Moderated Says:

Nope. Not gonna do it. Not the Saints. Ever.

  11. Hodad Says:

Nah, I don’t want to throw Bowles any life lines. This franchise needs a reboot. Todd tried his hardest to lose again today. Never went for the kill, playing for FGs all day. We got lucky, and the Panthers suck that’s the only reason we won by 2 friggin points. Had enough of Bowles, hope they fire him. This team is going nowhere, playoffs, or not.

  12. Dbbuc711 Says:

Gonna watch it but won’t root for either, they put themselves in this position. Thinking Baker will probably get together with Wirfs and some of the other o-line.

  13. HC Grover Says:

Not me. Can not do it. Let the chips fall.

  14. Dale W Says:

Win or lose, Todd Bowles better have coached his last game yesterday or next week. Please tell me, even if the Saints pull off a win in the “Bowles Bowl”, that there is anyone who thinks that with a healthy Kittle, Purdy, and Mccafree and the 49ers don’t come to Tampa and Michele stomp our defense?

  15. Dale W Says:

Mud hole stomp, God I hate predictive auto correct

  16. Beeej Says:

    Lavante’s last game was a W

  17. adam from ny Says:

    it just seems so daunting…

i can’t see the saints pulling this off…and for us…

they got all the high powered dudes…

cousins is gonna be frisky knowing he’s giving it to the bucs…he always gets frisky for the bucs…

they’ve got bijon and mad receivers…

i can’t see the saints doing this for us…

    i will pray tho

  18. adam from ny Says:

don’t you think cam jordan has at least pondered and discussed with teammates to lose – just to F the bucs…?

    like this:

“mannn F the bucs…let’s let carolina git this!…they’ve sucked for so long anyways…F the bucs!”

  19. Lt. Dan Says:

Today. I am a HUGE Falcons fan! Get Bowles away from my team.

  20. adam from ny Says:

both teams might just let carolina in the playoffs…because they just want to upset the divisional applecart…and turn the tide on the repetitive nature we’ve had with winning the division lately…

    like:

let’s let carolina in…and sort of reset the division back to square one for next season…

    think about it…………

say carolina goes to the playoffs and is one and done or maybe wins one game…

when you think of the nfc south for next year, who is the favorite or clear favorite to win the division…?

    no one…

the division looks to be totally up for grabs next season – as of right now – with the current vibe – and both atlanta and the saints surging…

    there’s no clear cut leader

  21. Lefty R Says:

I trust the Saints will be professional and as Herm Edwards said many moons ago: PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!!!!

  22. Gman Says:

All of the dopes that say they don’t care will be rooting their butts off for the Bucs if they are playing next week. We have the dumbest fanbase.

  23. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    What if they tie?

  24. adam from ny Says:

    gman:

yes we love the bucs…so lick it sakos !

    🙂

  25. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I hate the Falcons more than the Saints anyway. Their fans are idiots.

But..lI think the only way Bowles keeps his job is by winning in the playoffs, and that is very unlikely. That’s clear after watching yesterday.

  26. heyjude Says:

Hoping for the best outcome for us with the Saints winning. Not expecting them to win, but still hoping. I almost went to church to light candles, but thought that may be too much for a game. But then thought Saints and lighting candles may be a good thing spiritually.

  27. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

It’s going to end in a tie …
Just the way the season has gone

  28. Told You Says:

NEITHER for the WIN, BUCS IN

  29. Told You Says:

    Fire Bowles!!!!!!

  30. Kayla Says:

Why watch and torture yourself? The Falcons are playing hard for their HC’s job. The Saints are beat up and their rookie QB will face ATL’s really good pass rush and come back to earth. My offseason starts today and it doesn’t include watching meaningless football games.

  31. Ugotrobbed Says:

    NOPE!

  32. ToesOnTheLine!!! Says:

Personally I’m rooting for a 0-0 tie between the Saints and Falcons where both teams beat each other up but accomplish nothing on the scoreboard. That said the sad reality is both the Saints and Falcons have been playing more motivated football of late than either the Bucs or Panthers have.

  33. JReel Buc Says:

Please for the love of God I hope Atlanta wins. I cant watch this dumpster fire of a team anymore

  34. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

    Kirk Cousins has one more
Darek Sharp “ Stick in the eye “
For OBP and Buc fans !

  35. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

Are we getting a Live Game Day Comments article today 😇
    What a bizarre season!

  36. adam from ny Says:

yes what if the game ends in a tie…………..???

    then what happens…

does anyone even have an answer…

do the bucs and falcons have a one game playoff for the playoffs?

  37. Lefty R Says:

If the Falcons and Saints tie

    The Buccaneers are in!!

    the Falcons and Saints tie,
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win the NFC South division title, because it creates a two-way tie at 8-9 between them and the Panthers, and Tampa Bay wins the tiebreaker based on common games played

  38. HeavyE Says:

If it’s a tie we are in…..Let’s Go Saints! I want to be in the Playoffs, anything an happen! Let’s Go BUCS!!!

  39. heyjude Says:

Lefty R – Holy cow, if they tie we are still in. What a crazy season.

I agree with HeavyE too – I want to be in the Playoffs. Go Bucs!

  40. BigBoiBuc Says:

Please don’t make things up. If you continue, you won’t be permitted to comment. –Joe

  41. Mike C Says:

It is All Saints day in Tampa!

  42. Kenton Smith Says:

If we should somehow get in I think since we have a home game next week then we should make sure that Elijah Roberts mom gets to sing the National Anthem again. That lady can sing! The game might have been blah, average but her voice was way above average. I’m ready to sign Elijah to a long term contract.

  43. Pewter Power Says:

Cowardly all you had to do was beat the falcons and the saints. I’ll say this I’m not rooting for them to lose but I’m not rooting for them to win either. You crapped the bed now you’re begging the saints to help you to the point you wear another teams jersey. This is how far the franchise has fallen under Bowles. If making the playoffs will keep him here hell no I won’t root for the saints

Please for the love of God I hope Atlanta wins. I cant watch this dumpster fire of a team anymore

Pretty sure not one person has a gun to your head, GTFO….

  45. Popmike66 Says:

I am good one way or another. If the Bucs do get to play another game that will still be the last of the season unless Bowles can work a miracle with his defense. A couple more blown coverage yesterday. I just want this season to over and get a new start. I am also good with Bowles staying another year, I am pretty damn sure a lot of his defensive staff ESPECIALLY ST, CB and few other positions will be replaced and although the offense did play a little better, it seems they need someone on the offensive staff to push them a bit more

  46. BigBoiBuc Says:

@Joe – I disagreed with your comment that Otten has had an “Awful season” -59 catches in a non TE Offense. I also said he didn’t “ lose” the Rams and Lions games. I also asked you how many drops you reported he had with the “ dropsies”. Legit comment and questions. Guessing you didn’t like an opposing opinion. Does that get me moderated and unable to comment???

  47. Bucsfan2023 Says:

3rd and 28. Nice job Todd. In the off season they need to hire a DC. Todd is not capable of being a good DC.

  48. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

    Please
    Death with Dignity!
This has been a BAD FOOTBALL TEAM
    All season!
Let’s please move on to happy fantasies of the draft, FA offseason and the 2026 season!
We absolutely do need to draft a starting quality QUARTERBACK!
I am fine with Baker considering all the other dysfunction on the offense.
We also need a REAL NFL running back.
    Bucky is a rotation specialist.
    So many needs!
Is Cody Mauch really good enough, certainly better than this year guards ,
David and Evans are not on the 26 roster.

  49. SOFIERCE Says:

The things we do for Todd Bowls is disgraceful. Hasn’t there been enough embarrassing moments this season? Get rid of this type of thinking already.

  50. Jmarkbuc Says:

On the bright side, we still get to hate the Saints either way.

    Saints lose.. we’re out
Saints win .. Toads chances improve

    I hate Saints.

  51. Oneilbuc Says:

The Saints will lose for a draft position this season is over time for draft talk.

  52. BPBucsfan Says:

I initially thought maybe Saints could win, but in searching for results in a different game last night, happened upon the Falcons -Saints score it wasn’t even close, I think 29-10 Falcons. Same QB match up as today. But, Bucs had tons of chances to close this out, but due to inept coaching of course, playoffs probably not happening. Bowles not going anywhere, Glazer’s probably terrified of the “R” word if they can him. The media will not blame him, they’ll be like, “the injuries “, not his fault.

  53. Popmike66 Says:

What’s so frustrating watching the Saints Falcons game today being a die heart Bucs fan is, the Bucs had not 1, not 2 but 3 chances to clinch a playoff spot and they failed. Let’s just get to the off season and fix this team

  54. Darin Says:

Practicing my dirty bird dance! Go falcons

  55. BPBucsfan Says:

Definitely will not be able to draft quality starting QB this far down in the draft. Fire Bowles, get rid of OC that’s not over his skis and offense will be fine.

  56. Mike Johnson Says:

No way Jose. Go Falcons go. Falcons win, Bowles fired. Everybody is happy.

  57. Boltsfan17 Says:

If you’re not a blind homer, root for the Falcons.

  58. Jeff Says:

Baker should have said the Saints can’t beat the Falcons. And included the line “just not good enough.” The small brained Saints players would have used that as motivation and wouldn’t have know they got played.

  59. Gipper Says:

Munch, Bee, and WarrenBrooksLoser are having a party today over at oneilbucs place where they are going to take turns sticking needles into a tiny Baker Mayfield voodo doll.

  60. HC Grover Says:

I will listen to wwl on radio and watch the Jags on my 1 over the air channel.

  61. adam from ny Says:

    gipper:

    sounds like a wild basement party…can i join !

    🙂

  62. adam from ny Says:

    HC Grover:

whats wrong with you man…be like a buccaneer and be a pirate if you know what i mean…simple, clean and free lifestyle son

and did i mention you get all the games easy peasy…like what are you doing wrong my man

  63. HC Grover Says:

I hope JBF has an open game thread. It would be fun to see the comments.

  64. HC Grover Says:

Adam I live in ‘NFL No mans Land in Citrus County. Tried Sunday Tic but they block me out of all relevant games. Only get one over the air WOGX FOX Gainesville. Like to do radio but now Gene gone doubt it will be half as good. But…I dont care it is worth it to be off grid and away from cities. I have a good GE Super Radio. I can get Amazon stuff but 30 bucks a month. I could do it but cant see it worthy of my limited funds.

    Grover from Florida…native son. Son

  65. Louie Says:

Atlanta is playing at home with minimal injuries and a head coach fighting for his job in a meaningless game for the Saints.

  66. Tye Says:

Falcons playing for HC,pride in front of home fans, a win over saints ..
Saints only for betters draft pick!

  67. Greg Says:

I’m a Falcons fan today! Time to move on from Bowles and staff!

  68. Tye Says:

Both can STOP hearing Bucs consecutive champs!

  69. buc4evr Says:

idk, mixed feelings. I want the Bucs to go to the playoffs, but I don’t want Todd or Jason in the house. Even if the Bucs go to the playoffs they are not getting past the first round with Grizzard calling plays and Bowles playing turtle ball. So even if theSaints win, the Glazers know they will not get past the first round with Todd as HC.

  70. HC Grover Says:

TO ALL ….A Chicks win may not get rid of BOWZO!!!! This is the Bucs and Glazers…..Do not bet ranch he gone if Chicks Win

  71. HC Grover Says:

    GO Jags!!! All the way.

  72. Gman Says:

Embarrassed for anyone that couldn’t figure out what happens if it is a tie. Smdh
