Tristan Wirfs Says He’ll Play Saturday
December 31st, 2025The Bucs sure missed legendary No. 78 at left tackle on Sunday at Miami. They also missed playing with heart and fire and focus on every snap.
Tristan Wirfs has turf toe after tearing a toe ligament under a big toe 10 days ago during the game at Carolina, he said today.
Wirfs got an injection in his toe recently, he said, and will good to go for the Carolina rematch on Saturday. He’s happy to be back on grass and do what he can to help the Bucs win.
It’s hard to believe Wirfs is already wrapping up his sixth NFL season. More than half his career could be over. This was his most injury-plagued year, missing five games.

Hope he can get the chance to get healthy. Sucks to have turf toe. Sucks even more that we are such a bad team that him returning and us winning might not be enough to make the playoffs. I am really disappointed in this season, the coach, the GM refusing to make a trade for the edge rush in favor of JTS, hurt Kancey, and Braswell, and the piss poor special teams. Baker is hurt again? Was he hurt before? Does Kyle Trask give us a better chance at backup than Teddy hospital ball bridge water? Just a bunch of bs this year. 5-1, 6-2, and then losing too many damn games to close it out. Shame on the lot of them. I’d ask Licht what is your plan to address the pass rush not via the draft bc you can’t draft a good edge rusher- as proven through his tenure. Damn it, I’ll root for my team, but I wish they could fly me down there to give them a “Bull Durham” like pep talk, “lollygaggers, the bunch of them!” Our punter and kickoff coverage make me pissed off just thinking about them.
We should’ve taken care of
Business so we could rest guys, but no, we chose to play gutless football.
December 31st, 2025 at 5:56 pm
Whoever is the quarterback for the Bucs on Saturday will be pleased to see this. Otherwise they will get crushed by the edge rusher going right by Chewy.
December 31st, 2025 at 5:59 pm
They’re gonna let his gut wreck his foot to try and win a game they won’t win anyways.
December 31st, 2025 at 6:03 pm
Hope he doesn’t cause further damage, he plays on his toes every snap. I can’t imagine allowing much movement in his shoe , taping tomorrow.
December 31st, 2025 at 6:04 pm
I’m happy…change is coming.
December 31st, 2025 at 6:17 pm
Tearing a toe ligament is a LOOOOONNNNNG TERM INJURY!!! Will take the whole offseason to heal at least!
December 31st, 2025 at 6:17 pm
I have mixed feelings about this.
I want us to win and having Tristan on the field certainly helps.
But, with the way we’ve been playing, I’m more concerned he does more damage to his toe in what ultimately proves to be a futile effort.
December 31st, 2025 at 6:21 pm
Once again a team making an effort to help win. Trevon Diggs going to Packers, and didn’t even require a draft pick!! Will he make a difference? Who knows, but at least Packers trying with no risk at all.
December 31st, 2025 at 6:28 pm
I’ll say this again, the Bucs need to take a good look at their training staff. I am well aware that NFL football is a tough hard hitting game but, there is not 1 Buc player that has not been out with injuries, multiple times each player. Mayfield has played but, he’s been injured most of the season.
December 31st, 2025 at 6:33 pm
Do not risk his long term health. Bowles is most likely coaching his last game for us, so why would he care. The Glazers made need to step in and make the best call. I don’t trust this coaching or training staff.
December 31st, 2025 at 6:40 pm
Desperation at 1 Buc
December 31st, 2025 at 6:48 pm
And Dean will not play.
December 31st, 2025 at 6:52 pm
From 6-2 into the toilet. I get that this teams ability was overhyped in the offseason, but something happened between the time Bucky went down and the Detroit game that wrecked anything this team had going.
The whole story around Bucky is weird.
December 31st, 2025 at 6:52 pm
Ohh he got turf 10days ago and took an injection ? ok so he played against Atlanta with turf toe ? sat the Miami game. Now is ready to play again. Ok got it. Perfect.
Hey Maxx your Raiders was playing for the first pick, they sent you home why you mad big Crosby😉
December 31st, 2025 at 6:52 pm
Oh course he’ll play, he’s a professional.
December 31st, 2025 at 6:53 pm
Ohh Dean is not playing ? Of course he’s not playing.
December 31st, 2025 at 6:57 pm
Can you believe just a week ago people were actually saying Chewbacca would replace Wirfs? LOL! Wirfs is literally the best offensive lineman in the league, 26 years old, and people want to replace him with an UDFA. Very dumb takes.
With that said, for all the bashing of Chewy, I didn’t think he was very bad from what I saw, and I think he’ll actually end up playing in the NFL for a long time, even if it’s only as a backup. But come on, getting Wirfs back is yuge.
December 31st, 2025 at 6:59 pm
Oh yea understand playing against Chubbs would put more pressure on on that Toe. Hey did Chubbs get a strip sack for a fumble? I can’t re-call.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🤙🏾
December 31st, 2025 at 7:04 pm
Guess I can’t comment on here anymore. Can’t say Glazers won’t fire Bowles because they’d have to buy out his contract. Circle the wagons!!
December 31st, 2025 at 7:04 pm
Ok, that went through. 😄
December 31st, 2025 at 7:08 pm
the big man is back…toe and all…ready to ball and maul…
ultimately no one can replace big #78
December 31st, 2025 at 7:11 pm
Might as well play. He’s not going to have another game for 9 months.
December 31st, 2025 at 7:16 pm
@ SteveK – Na, there’ll be another 1000+ Bowles articles to discuss over and over again, before JL gets held to any account about all of his inexcusable, just HORRENDOUS moves. It’s really absurd. EVEN, TK and SR ‘admitted’ on WDAE the other day, that all of this has JL’s fingerprints written all over it! They’re RIGHT. 92-108. We’ve seen this movie before, pre-Brady and now, post-Brady. We already know WHAT we’re getting, & it’s NOT good enough, or even CLOSE. He is what he is. And, you CAN’T just continue giving HIM a ‘lifetime’ PASS for getting “lucky” by having that special relationship with B.A.
December 31st, 2025 at 7:20 pm
Sound like a Big Carl Nicks toe
December 31st, 2025 at 7:23 pm
Why
December 31st, 2025 at 7:29 pm
I guess Ol’ Bake is more worried with trying to be a Movie Star LoL. I just saw him in his ‘newest’ commercial for the first time, before the Miami-Ohio State game tonight haha. If he keeps playing ‘the way’ he has been, then his BIG Hollywood career Lmao won’t be very far off. LoL
December 31st, 2025 at 7:44 pm
He might wanna just stick with worrying about his day job. He wasn’t very good at all, to put it mildly. I’ve seen him in several. But, it’s most ALWAYS the ‘kiss of death’ for ANY QB. Unless, your name is Brady, Manning, Favre, Mahomes, or Josh Allen. Even, Rodgers never WON another one, after he started messin’ with all that. Old Baker needs a shot of REALITY. He’s nowhere neeeear ‘the level’ of the names mentioned above.
December 31st, 2025 at 7:50 pm
I guess the Bucs felt like they didn’t need to sign Trevon Diggs off of the waiver wire. After all the Bucs have Dean, Hayes, Morrison, Parrish, and Vildor available to cover. lol.
December 31st, 2025 at 8:00 pm
Bucs have had so many chances to grab someone off of the waiver wire. They let Trevon Diggs get by them to the Packers. If asked, Bowles will say he would not be able to help as he will not be able to learn the playbook. Yeah, I think that can be said for a lot of people including the starter defenders Bowles is sending out there to get burned game after game because he has not changed his scheme even though opponents have fiund the weak links. Fire Bowles, fire him.
December 31st, 2025 at 8:05 pm
Food for thought: If the Saints win (and Bucs win) they will gift us the record for consecutive division titles, could that affect their effort to win? 🤔
December 31st, 2025 at 8:08 pm
Don’t say Saints can’t win. I heard their rookie QB is playing very well.
December 31st, 2025 at 8:16 pm
Bucs season is scrap. Need to start thinking about how they can get Ohio State ILB, Arvell Reece in 2026 draft. This guy 6’4” 245 with great closing speed. Will have to trade up to get him. Probably a top 8 player. Natural replacement for Lavontae David.
December 31st, 2025 at 8:22 pm
“Turf Toe” is a misnomer. It’s really aa lot bigger than that, and cam completely immobilize your foot
December 31st, 2025 at 8:27 pm
Draft Bain out of Miami.
December 31st, 2025 at 8:32 pm
We need bain from Miami man that d line is nasty. Thats the ones u trade up for
December 31st, 2025 at 8:43 pm
Save your toe for next year Tristan when you are not playing for Toad.
December 31st, 2025 at 8:50 pm
lol guess people are watching this Miami vs OSU game. Bain looks nasty out there.
Turf toe is a big deal. This has ruined careers. Injuries are beginning to pile up for the big man. Not good.

Vanessa Anne Says:

——————————————————————————-
I agree, Vanessa. I care more about his health at this point.
December 31st, 2025 at 9:02 pm
I knowTurf toe is serious then don’t play.
what are you going to tuff it out now? and if we get
lucky and Saints win and we win, you are now going to tuff it out
for the playoffs. You hurt it 10 days ago and took injection, but we needed
to beat Miami and try to win the last game with no help.
Come on please.
December 31st, 2025 at 9:05 pm
Did the bucs attempt to claim diggs off waivers? Or did Jason just sit around again…
December 31st, 2025 at 9:08 pm
Mach, he sat around again he didn’t want to pay the rest of his contract.
smh this guy does nothing to improve this team.
