Atlanta Upset Changes Nothing For Todd Bowles

December 30th, 2025

Bucs coach Todd Bowles.

So we all saw it last night. A team that had nothing to play for and would have been much better off tanking than winning, the Dixie Chicks, came out against the Rams with passion and fire and equally as important, physicality, and upset Los Angeles.

Physicality. When is the last time a Bucs defender splashed a ballcarrier to help win a game and ignite the offense?

With the Atlanta win the Bucs now need help winning the division and obtaining a playoff berth through the NFL’s convoluted tiebreaker system. Even if the Bucs (7-9) win Saturday against Carolina (8-8), Atlanta must lose Sunday for the Bucs to win the division. That means Bucs fans might have to become slimy Saints fans for three or four hours.

See what the Bucs have done to you in this monumental collapse. You like that?

Bucs coach Todd Bowles said it doesn’t matter.

“I don’t think that changes anything – we just have to win the game on Saturday and then we’ll see,” Bowles said. “We’ve made this bed [and] we understand that. We can’t do anything on Sunday unless we win Saturday.”

If the Bucs win Saturday, that means they will spend roughly 20 hours wondering about their future. Will they board their flights to the DR on Monday or report to One Buc Palace for practice?

Bowles said he doesn’t care.

“I’d like to win on Saturday,” Bowles said. “Other than that, I don’t have an answer.”

Bucs fans, look what this choking team had done to you. If the Bucs win Saturday, you have to wear black and gold and cheer for Cam Jordan to get a pile of sacks.

Or, would you rather chug bleach?

It is time for this guy to go. It is so apparent that he has lost this team. Need a new Head Coach that is Offensive in nature. Putrid Pass Defense is not good for a Bucs fans mental health year after year. Bye Todd.

  2. Lakeland Says:

I’ll be glad when Monday finally get here,

So they can walk his butt out of One Buc Place
Or they can keep him around as a staff member

He can always get a job washing dishes in the cafeteria

  3. DBS Says:

Hopefully the only thing that you will be doing on Sunday is cleaning out your office.

  4. DungyDance Says:

It doesn’t help with motivation when the special teams unit waives the white flag straight out of the gate by kicking into the end zone. They’re telling the rest of the team that they suck so bad they’re not even going to try. But hey, offense and defense, get pumped!

  5. Gofortheface30 Says:

I despise Cam Jordan, and that entire city. But he was right.. maybe Licht should spend less time tweeting at him and focus more on finding an actual edge rush or 3. 2-3 new inside linebackers. Guess which teams in the nfc south are trending up? Everyone except for us. I would take atlantas two fish ends, their linebackers, Xavier watts (who’s a stud) one million times out of a million over anyone on Tampa. Porno Dave over in Carolina is coaching a team that actually responds to him and plays hard. What exactly does Tampas future look like with no real blue chippers and and speed. Not to mention our little quarterback problem. Hell yeah brother! Everything is just great!

  6. Lewi Says:

Best circumstance IMO is that we win Saturday, making sure LVD wins his last home Game and goes out on top

Then we need the Saints to lose, the Panthers far and away deserve that playoff spot

If we get into the playoffs, there’s more chance Bowles will be back, and we can’t have that

LVD getting a home win for his final game, and the Saints losing, Panthers in the playoffs, and Bowles retires

It’s a Win, Win, Win, Win to me

  7. Bucnbeers Says:

Falcon Saints should be a good game. Our luck, Falcons win. That’s what happens when the Bucs s**t the bed.

  8. HeartyDickerson Says:

    “Changes nothing for Todd Bowles”

Of course it doesn’t. Nothing makes Todd change. He doesn’t adapt strategies based on opponents. He doesn’t fire coaches. He doesn’t bench players. He’s done everything the same exact way for 7 years.

  9. MegaFailure Says:

    he knows its over

  10. Jerseybuc Says:

One more game radio one more!!! No way glazers can bring this mess back!!!
The lack of accountability is astonishing for a professional football team.

  11. Walter Says:

Definitely not routing for the Aints GO PANTHERS
    #FIRETODDBOWELS

  12. Hodad Says:

I’ll be rooting for Raheem, and Hotlanta before the Slimy Saints no matter what. Frankly I hope Carolina puts us out of our misery first. Go Dave. Coen was on an ESPN show today. Yeah, we blew it. Hope the Glazers saw the interview. They can do better than Bowles saying we need to coach it better, play it better. Time for a reset.

  13. Whatevs Says:

Knowing this franchise. Bucs will win, Falcons will lose and Todd will be back next year.

Strap up boys, this is going to be wild.

  14. BrianBucs Says:

If you look at the last 5 weeks it looks like the Bucs are the worst team in the NFL South.
Bowles needs to go and Licht needs to be held accountable for his role in all of this mess

  15. Tom Petty Says:

WTF do all the yahoos here think he should have said ?

I honestly think many of you are happier hating than you would be if we were kicking as$ and doing well….. SMH 🙄

  16. SoCalBucsFan79 Says:

It would be ironic that the Bucs squeak out another win in week 18 and have the Saints Shough out, to get them a ticket to the post-season dance. I’m with Bonzai in having the pitchfork-wielding bandwagoners heads collectively explode. I also get it that this is the Joe’s core business rile up the fanbase, particularly the one’s who cosplay that their opinions makes a difference to the team’s actual decision makers. Fire the coaches, the GM, the players… these rabble rousers scream, because if we aren’t happy we will rip up our season tickets. But what if the Glazers did a different type of switch? (something out of leftfield) I will present a hot take that won’t be popular for sure as it suggest a conspiracy to move the franchise east of the Atlantic. But I think it’s very clear that this team (or any other NFL outfit) doesn’t need its fans and their hollow threats of boycotts if they don’t get a scapegoat to hang for this season’s disappointment. The 2020* Season proved that.

The league didn’t really need butts in seats, but definitely needed to keep their TV revenue and play Sundays in empty stadiums, leaving unfilled gate receipts and all the ancillary income that live fans bring in… was expendable (17% is clearly is a drop in the total revenue bucket). Hence the select first responders that got to attend the Superbowl LV live at Ray J to give a smattering of live bodies to fill the stands, for the all-important emotional connection to the game. Heck the fan loyalty only goes as far, as who can get the best prices to sell their seats on the secondary market to out-of-towners ready to make the Licht House a virtual road game week in and week out (true for Vegas, LA and the other FL teams). Maybe the Glazers should fire its current fans and take their ball across the pond?

Win or Lose, season ticket holders or not, this Bay Area (not the one in Northern California) will actually be the limiting factor in how much more the Glazers can tap out financially. If I were part of the Glazer brain trust (I guess we call can cosplay), my first thing would be suggesting to Joel, Ed and Bryan, how much more can Tampa Bay give and what would be the alternative to maximizing future profits? Winning only did so much to the Chiefs franchise valuation, as they still are 22nd in franchise value ($6.2B). The fanbase is never happy (even if they are winning relative to their franchise’s lifetime percentage) and seems to be entitled to more than they put in. ($6.6B or #16) Maybe it’s high time to beat Shad Khan at something more lucrative?

Sure they poached Liam, but what if the Glazers beat them to being temporary tenants at Wembley or a permanent tenant at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium? Trade Florida’s west coast for the epicenter of the globe’s financial universe. Clearly they can leapfrog Dallas ($13B) as London is far more important to sponsors being the most globally connected city on the planet and can assist in commanding more media right deals for the UK and Europe. Easily they can have a franchise valuation beyond $20B if not more, far surpassing its EPL peers in London like Chelsea ($3.25B), Arsenal ($3.4B), Tottenham Hotspur ($3.3B). That would be a Black Monday worth remembering… the day the Glazers traded Tampa Bay for London. Now that would be some breaking news for sure. Then you won’t have to worry about Bowles or Baker or Jason Licht. I’m sure the NFL would love to put a team in Orlando instead, right next to Disneyworld. I love the Bucs, and would watch them anywhere, especially if it meant shedding all of its malcontents.

  17. ChiBuc Says:

No need to read article to know that “nothing changes” for Bowles. He and Licht epitomize stagnation, slow to react, same old, same old

  18. KnuteR Says:

Bowlo is tone-deaf and illusional. The locker room has turn on him on him. He needs to face reality that he is not a head coach material. Players need discipline and consequences and he does not do that. This Saturday is the last game for the Bucs. Panthers will go to playoffs. The Bucs need to regroup, rebuild for next season. The Bucs need new offensive mind head coach, offense coordinator and defense coordinator to be competitive in the NFC South. Captain Bowlo needs to hangup his cleats from being a headcoach.

  19. BucsFan81 Says:

I think Bowles is coming back no matter what happens. I think ownership will make Bowles fire the special teams coach and offensive coordinator. They will give Bowles, Licht and Baker one more year then clear house if it goes up in flames next year.

  20. Longtimebucsfan Says:

He never should have been hired. Fire Bowles. Rebuild this team.

  21. ChiBuc Says:

Just going on record alone, Licht has a 25% chance of hiring a successful HC. And tbh, I believe BA (his only successful hire) lead that move. So why would we trust Jason to pick a winner? Because he had a pot of gold thrown in his lap 1x? Maybe you’re hoping he finally has success drafting positions other than OL and WR. Licht must go 1st.

  22. Rod Munch Says:

The dumb Falcons will lose to the Saints, that is a lock.

So this game means everything — the Bucs still have to win it, and if they do, they are in the playoffs. If they lose, then yeah, you clean house, although I don’t know what coach you’re getting that is of any quality when they’re going to be stuck with Baker, who would have lost 5 games in a row with 1st place in the division on the line, 8 of his last 9, and was so terrible he just got everyone fired. Baker basically being cutproof due to his deal means a new coach will be tied to him while not having money to get another option and not having a high enough of a pick to get a top QB in the draft. All of that is why I’ve said just play it out one more year, but that’s going to be impossible if they look lifeless yet again – but it also means likely just getting another middling coach since hot coaching prospects are not going to want to come here, not with an older roster and Baker really limiting what you can do with the roster.

  23. DBS Says:

And there it is in writing. The game hasn’t even been played yet but if we lose it is automatically Baker’s fault! No Coach will want to come because only Baker.
Rod has had a big Rod up his backside ever since his boi Winston got run. Then followed up by Trask sent packing.

  24. DBS Says:

If the Falcons win let’s see if Rod disappears. After all he has guaranteed 0% Falcons will win.

  25. Ron Mexico Says:

“A team that had nothing to play for and would have been much better off tanking than winning, the Dixie Chicks, ”

The Falcons don’t have their own first round pick, so tanking doesn’t matter much to them.

  26. SlyPirate Says:

THE START AND END IS ALL YOU NEED OF THAT QUOTE

    “I don’t think … I don’t have an answer.”

  27. ChiBuc Says:

@Rod, you are certainly hedging your bet. How can you possibly be wrong when you lay out practically every possible scenario… TB stays run with it, TB can’t stay after another lifeless game, nobody decent will come due to Baker, old team, Baker’s inconsistencies make him prone to catch fire, Baker lost 8 of 9 so Todd deserves a pass… dude, you are not out-thinking anyone.

    Positives for a new coach/regime

    – young secondary
-Bad @ss WR room, and Im talking McM & E²
    – solid RB rm
    – some young talent on DL (Yaya, KC- but he has to have a prove it yr, who even knows about Braswell) if used properly
    – Great OL nucleus (but I feel Barton would make a better swing tackle)
    – cap don’t look so bad
    – and yes, Baker is worth every penny of his salary, provided a decent backup is grabbed, he proves b4 payday next yr, and a Late rd QB is grabbed to groom (I like Altmyer in the 5th). Having the versatility to bench Baker is a necessary tool. Baker seems to need a poke in the chest every now and then to get his head straight, but letting him sign off on OCs, chanting MVP, and giving him commercial play seems to be his kryptonite. He needs humility paired with his bravado

I would love to see Belecheat or McCarthy as GM/final voice and dual HCs (Kubiak and Flores) coach their @$$es off to earn the ultimate HC title. A new day, a new way. Players have to prove their value every week, why not coaches. Look, I know its a ridiculous fantasy, but I just think it sounds fun, especially compared to this stale product we’ve been served for 3 yrs.

  28. JustVisiting Says:

Rod Munch, I seriously doubt that anyone is going to turn down a NFL HC spot because they don’t like a QB they’ll have to put up with for a single year. Nobody that short-sighted will be in the running in the first place.

  29. Tbbucs3 Says:

Such LOSER fans are literally rooting for the Bucs to miss the playoffs….

You know what that means? YALL ARE NOT ACTUALLY FANS….go find another team bozos

  30. Aqualung Says:

Shake those Pom Poms and hope for different by doing the same things! Brilliant. If Belowszo is still coaching the Bucs next year, the upper limit for wins is 5.

Please fire this clown before Sunday.

  31. Simeon4HOF Says:

He doesn’t think that changes anything

    Lol
    Ok coach

  32. Architek Says:

This is a loser mentality and far from the 2020 culture that the winners re-established.

  33. AMI_Chris Says:

It changes a lot for fans. These players & coaches don’t understand that we’ve been fans long before they got here (or before they were even alive) and we’ll be Bucs loyalists long after they’re gone. This may be their livelihood (for a short time) but we are way more emotionally invested in the FRANCHISE than they will ever be.
