Todd Bowles Survives Monday Afternoon, Comes Out For News Conference
December 29th, 2025Everywhere Joe turns today Bucs fans are talking about firing Todd Bowles.
Yes, the occasional fan is unsure of what to do with Bowles.
Regardless, Joe doesn’t want to make any assumptions about Bowles’ job security. A winless December versus bad teams — amidst high expectations — earned Bowles a broiling seat.
Bucs ownership and Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht have heard all the Fire Bowles noise and decided to let it simmer. Neither Team Glazer not Licht came out today and said Bowles’ job is safe.
Some management teams would want to kill all possible distractions as they enter January with a shot at the playoffs. Not at One Buc Palace.
Not now, the Bucs’ heirarchy is content to let Bowles fry in the oven of public opinion.
Bowles was present and his usual self during his league-mandated, day-after-game news conference this afternoon. He took the podium. Given Bowles’ situation, Joe thinks that’s news.

December 29th, 2025 at 4:33 pm
He already told us how he feels. I’m surprised it hasn’t gotten more press. But when ansked about his job security a few weeks ago,he said I have fewer years in front of me than I have behind me. He just doesn’t care anymore. He could get fired and he’s like I’ve made enough money. That aline showed us it’s time for change. He’s way too complacent. He’s fat and happy.
December 29th, 2025 at 4:33 pm
Next article better be….. Bowles has been fired or this season ticket holder is not renewing.
December 29th, 2025 at 4:34 pm
Safe? He should be packing his office up for a well deserved Saturday night massacre.
December 29th, 2025 at 4:37 pm
It’s disgusting that he is still the Bucs coach. He is the worst NFL head coach at this time.
What a waste of talent and the Bucs let an offensive genius walk out the door last year for this only makes it that much more awful.
December 29th, 2025 at 4:40 pm
I can’t stomach another year of this coaching staff but they might keep him
and gut the roster and make him oversee a tank job next season to begin the rebuild. The Super Bowl window is officially closed. Sad times.
December 29th, 2025 at 4:42 pm
IF the owners are good business men then surely they have already compiled info on and glossed over the resume of Klint Kubiak; Todd Monken; Joe Brady; Mike LeFleur and hopefully any other top OC to have their BEST shot at getting the right one before they are snatched up by other teams going into the off season…
They royally screwed the fans letting Coen out the door last year!
December 29th, 2025 at 4:44 pm
The whole team and organisation entered the bye week far too satisfied. You could tell they were just relieved to make it to the bye due to the injuries and mentally just weren’t ready to restart the second half of the season. I also think the special teams play against the Bills and the lack of accountability that followed from it probably helped sink morale across the roster.
December 29th, 2025 at 4:44 pm
When we look at the OC, Special Teams Coach, and the other underperforming coaches, what were the qualifications for the job? Experience in similar position? Success in past like experiences? What unique qualities do they bring to the table? Just a few basic questions. What puzzles me is that these jobs aren’t blue collar hourly jobs. These are jobs for a multi million dollar operation that should require the highest and best in leadership personnel. Am I missing something here?
December 29th, 2025 at 4:45 pm
This league is so rigged. All scripted for viewership and ratings. Look at the games that matter
Coming down to the last week. Since this league classifed themselves as entertainment, it was never the same. Bets driving in $$$$ in revenue.
December 29th, 2025 at 4:45 pm
IF they retain Bowels then their comments on their documentary was straight up lies in the face of every one of their fans!
December 29th, 2025 at 4:47 pm
Add in Licht’s complacency at the trade deadline and that he was too busy trolling Cameron Jordan on X to improve the roster and I think you had the perfect storm to sink a team.
December 29th, 2025 at 4:47 pm
We all know that the Glazers won’t fire Bowles before the end of the season. Especially with a “chance” to make the playoffs. What’s Bowles supposed to do? Hide under his desk? Now, that would be news.
December 29th, 2025 at 4:48 pm
If your objective is only barely making the playoffs in the worst division in all of football including pee wee leagues and losing miserably in front of the nation, then Bowles is on the case. No need to change.
But if you want to compete for a SB again and win a third trophy, he will never be that guy.
I guess JL and Glazers have decided to do the same thing Todd has.
Throw their hands in the air and say, “you fix it”.
Can’t wait to see hgow that turns out.
December 29th, 2025 at 4:51 pm
Right now my order would be Mike LaFluer, Klint Kubiak than more distantly Joe Brady and Todd Minken.
December 29th, 2025 at 4:51 pm
Time for an ugly divorce, alert the forensic accountant.
December 29th, 2025 at 4:53 pm
If the Glazers want to sell tickets, they’ll fire Bowles. The team still has plenty of talent (including Baker) with the right coach. What if Cohn had stayed? Would have been a different, more successful team than what we see now. Point is, it’s 100% coaching! Best way to fix all this? Glazers ask Bowles to “retire”,he does just that. He exits with dignity and the Glazers take a calculated risk on a young, up and coming coach and hope we become the Jags, Bears, Seahawks in the future. Retain Licht to work on the draft and swing a deal or two in free agency for defensive pieces. Done!
December 29th, 2025 at 5:00 pm
Clean House,
Jason Licht
Todd Bowles
The Coaching Staff
They all need to go—– A clean sweep
Hire a new GM
Hire a new HC
Let the new HC pick his coaching staff
December 29th, 2025 at 5:04 pm
I say keep Licht unless an new TOP TIER head coach doesn’t want him and think he can bring in the talented players he needs to be successful.
December 29th, 2025 at 5:04 pm
Rondie Barbara went on record saying that Bowles job was not in jepodey because he’s heard nothing from the Glazer family.
The Glazers are not going to say anything publicly to anyone about Bowles status with the Bucs.
When the season is over, I’d expect Bowles announcement would be addressed then. If I was Bowles I’d wouldn’t be making any long term plans. The pedicures are circling the pirate ☠️ ship.
Will the Glazers past performance be repeated?
This
December 29th, 2025 at 5:05 pm
@Joe, does NFL revenue sharing make the Glazers too complacent?
December 29th, 2025 at 5:06 pm
Demote Tod Bowles to a DB coach. He has a unique talent converting Edge Rusher to DBs
December 29th, 2025 at 5:07 pm
Bowles has a 60-74 record as a head coach, with winning records in 3 of his 8 seasons. Why would anyone expect a better than .500 record? The only chance he should have to keep his job is hiring new DC, OC, and SC from outside the organization.
December 29th, 2025 at 5:11 pm
What’s the purpose of keeping Licht?
I don’t understand this, what have he done?
He’s living off Ton Brady legacy
He’s trash without Tom Brady
December 29th, 2025 at 5:11 pm
Joe – stop calling Jason a Ring of Honor GM. He owns this roster and has failed miserably on defense. If Bowles goes, Jason should go with him.
December 29th, 2025 at 5:12 pm
They did royally screw the fans when they chit da bed on letting go of Coen . Who is the rams offensive assistant that has worked under McKay? Or anyone that can call plays to set up other plays and someone that knows when to call it & also how to adjust because this joker we have now is NOT HIM !!! Also , bye bye toilet Todd get the he’ll out of here most of us don’t want you here . There is a lot of reasons as to why that is but we can clearly see your not good enough preparing your team , your not good systematically with your players , your game management most times leaves one scratching the head & when your team does NOT fly to the ball , no gang tackling & not 1 not 2 but 3 or more guys miss the same tackle as well as the plays called are a hot mess it’s time for change…they look lazy , dis interested & slow
December 29th, 2025 at 5:13 pm
Keep Jason Licht. Only dummies want him gone.
I don’t expect Bowles to be fired until his next loss. Probably the day after.
Unless he pulls a complete 180 and wins a ring, if they don’t fire him when he loses next, I may boycott next season…, and I have never missed a season thus far.
December 29th, 2025 at 5:13 pm
The fans are on the run….Hey Todd the fans are running….better go catch them.
December 29th, 2025 at 5:16 pm
The decisions made during the 2024 season, combined with the lack of accountability and corrective action taken in 2025, have resulted in continued underperformance and repeated losses. This ongoing trajectory represents a significant disservice to the community and loyal fan base that invests substantial time and financial resources into supporting this organization through ticket purchases, concessions, and merchandise.
Following the loss to the Falcons, decisive leadership action was both necessary and warranted. At that point, the head coach and several assistant coaches should have been relieved of their responsibilities. Ownership had a clear opportunity to intervene, stabilize the season, and position the team to compete for the NFC South division.
Instead, ownership chose inaction. By failing to address leadership shortcomings when change was required, the organization missed a critical opportunity to demonstrate accountability and commitment to competitive excellence. This decision conveyed the impression that maintaining the status quo was prioritized over taking the difficult but necessary steps to protect the integrity of the team and the interests of its supporters.
Fans and community members deserve an organization that holds leadership accountable, acts decisively when performance standards are not met, and demonstrates respect for the financial and emotional investment made by those who support the team year after year.
December 29th, 2025 at 5:19 pm
Great autocorrect Allen. The pedicures are circling? Hahahaha.
December 29th, 2025 at 5:23 pm
Lakeland Says:
“What’s the purpose of keeping Licht?
I don’t understand this, what have he done?
He’s living off Ton Brady legacy”
That is 100% untrue.
Jason Licht built the team that attracted Bruce Arians. He got Suh. He got JPP. He built a superbowl offensive line. He drafted Godwin. Then he went out and got Tom Brady for Arians. Then he got Gronk.
Then he cleared a mountain of cap within 2 years. Then he rebuilt the offensive line (which was great until the injuries this year). Then, knowing we needed a pass rusher, he instead drafted EE, a future HoFer.
And so much more.
Jason Licht is the best GM this team has ever had. Getting rid of him would damage the team, not help it.
December 29th, 2025 at 5:23 pm
He won’t be fired. The reality is they’ve been rebuilding for the last two years and paying for the Tom Brady Super Bowl. They can’t get good free agents so they’re forced to take chances on guys like Reddick, who was an office cancer, and hope that he returns to form. A cancer is a cancer – when someone shows you who they are, you should believe them.
If the guys are talking about getting their bag in the locker room, they’re playing for money, not for team. Really looking forward to seeing the cut list as they purge the malcontents when this season is over next week.
December 29th, 2025 at 5:25 pm
Also, people are retending the injuries don’t matter. They are real. They were the biggest issue this year. No point in denying it.
December 29th, 2025 at 5:26 pm
Joe, did you see Bucky and tristan arguing on side line?
Sure. Big nothing. Two players barking for 8 seconds. –Joe

Victory Lap Incoming
i am one win from a 4th division tittle and the playoffs, and suddenly I will be back on top as THE defensive guru that I am! Save the pitchforks for next years Halloween—call me when y’all design a better scheme than my “recycled coaches” magic. Bucs Nation, real ones stay; bandwagoners, peace out.

There was nothing wrong with the hat at all…but Bucky was in the right.
The offensive line is underperforming in a big way. We all keep saying there is no accountability…Bucky was holding the oline accountable.
December 29th, 2025 at 5:33 pm
Jason Licht has brainwashed this gullible fanbase

Heck no!
I’m just saying it wasn’t JUST one thing.
December 29th, 2025 at 5:37 pm
The Bowles’s experiment is over. The Bucs will not reach the NFC championship game with Bowles at the helm. It is time for the new head coach and staff. The Bucs is already wave the white flag. Baker will not take the Bucs to the promised land.
December 29th, 2025 at 5:38 pm
I went to the Doctor today and was diagnosed with a bad case of IBS. Irritable Bowles Syndrome!
December 29th, 2025 at 5:56 pm
They could’ve fired him a month ago and saved this season. Too late now, but hopefully after their next loss (whether it’s this Sunday or a week after).
December 29th, 2025 at 5:59 pm
How many people does it take to say he’s not in jeopardy of losing his job?
December 29th, 2025 at 6:04 pm
something is seriously wrong w the bucs, they have huge probs: no team chemistry they dont like each other they dont help each other- im thinking of quitting the bucs. im trying but its a bad habit when this year had so much promise… not now
December 29th, 2025 at 6:08 pm
Like Mike smith the only thing Todd Bowles can do is retire. He’s an embarrassment and he knows there’s no way he’ll get a job again. The league is hiring young coaches and unless you’re an elite coach you’re done.
December 29th, 2025 at 6:11 pm
I’m still hoping our Buccaneers can win the division Saturday !!! I’m tired of the losing streak, I really would rejoice in a win !!
Go Bucs !!
December 29th, 2025 at 6:12 pm
Jason Licht is not and will never be in the Ring of Honor. There you go, again, Joe. But then again, aren’t you the one that used to call Jameis a savior?
December 29th, 2025 at 6:16 pm
What a waste of everyone’s time to even hold that new conference. At this point, he can’t say anything to change the world. He is a corpse in Bucs colors. I so wish it had happened. Maybe before practice tomorrow. That would be appropriate. Unless he gave the team the week off.
December 29th, 2025 at 6:26 pm
How many people does it take to unscrew a light Bowleb?
December 29th, 2025 at 6:47 pm
If Todd is the HC next year, I’m going to take the season off and do something productive with my Sunday afternoons
December 29th, 2025 at 6:53 pm
Ring of Honor Jason Licht
LOLOLOLOL
Ring of Licht Losers
Basically 90% everyone he has drafted and signed.
December 29th, 2025 at 7:02 pm
The morons who are blaming Jason truly are clueless how an organization works. Everything wrong with the Bucs in the swoons (every season) has to do with coaching malpractice. Remember, Belowszo is HC and DC, so he doesn’t really have time for either trying to do both. Then he has an incompetent blind boob as ST coach who he refused to fire, and an over his head rookie trying to create a new offense when last years was the best in franchise history.
His team makes the same mistakes. Every. Game. For. Three. Years. Belowszo could take a team with the 99 Rams offense, the 02 Bucs defense, and Devin Hester’s Bears special teams and lose 9 games. Give Mike Vrabel this roster, he’d be undefeated.
Idiots.
December 29th, 2025 at 7:09 pm
If injuries were an excuse then the Bucs would be winning games now as they arent injured much anymore. But instead they are playing their worst football of the season and only getting worse. Just stop with the injuries excuse.. Super Todd and his staff just suck.
December 29th, 2025 at 7:20 pm
“Yes, the occasional fan is unsure of what to do with Bowles.”
I think you’re missing the sarcasm in those posts. People supporting Todd are just trying to be funny.
December 29th, 2025 at 7:22 pm
Every team deals with injuries the bucs are not the only team other teams adjust Todd just runs what he runs even if its against the players strengths straight and steady right into oblivion.
December 29th, 2025 at 7:35 pm
Listen up, haters—y’all screaming “Fire Bowles!” louder than a referee’s whistle at a Super Bowl holding penalty. But check it: I’m pulling the ultimate rope-a-dope, leaning on the ropes like Ali while you clowns swing wild at shadows, exhausting yourselves with your hot-take haymakers. Like I said, I’ve got three straight NFC South titles, a contract through 2028, and a shot at a fourth ring next week against Carolina, but nah, you want me gone ’cause the D let up a few first-career TDs—keep punching air, I’ll dance right back to the playoffs while you’re gassed out.
December 29th, 2025 at 7:40 pm
He will be gone on purple monday
December 29th, 2025 at 7:40 pm
Real ones know: Survive the barrage, then counterpunch. TJ Rives already waved off the whiners; I’m here scheming blitzes till 2028, not dodging pink slips. Bandwagoners, hit the showers—Bucs Nation endures.
December 29th, 2025 at 7:54 pm
I think Mike LaFluer, Klint Kubiak, and Joe Brady before Monken
December 29th, 2025 at 7:58 pm
So you think firing the HC 4 days before a playoff game (essentially) wouldnt be a distraction
December 29th, 2025 at 7:59 pm
Bonzai
You don’t really think Licht got Gronk here do you? Or AB, or Fournette?
December 29th, 2025 at 8:01 pm
Good point, Sam. As much as I hate to admit it, firing him now is not the best thing. However, 30 seconds after our next loss would be great.
December 29th, 2025 at 8:08 pm
I hear Bowles is still popular around One Bucs Place. I don’t expect he will be fired I am betting on Bowles moving to the front office to finish his 3 year extension or retiring.
December 29th, 2025 at 8:25 pm
Popmike66, Hit me up post-Carolina W; we’ll toast to your crystal ball over wings tougher than Baker’s hind quarters. Real fans like you? Beers on me. Who’s buying round two, Baker?
December 29th, 2025 at 9:01 pm
This post is written in good faith and should be read with zero snark. Our beloved team has us yelling at each other cats in a sack, but this question is legit and we’ll intentioned.
For those who think both the HC and GM should be fired, how does this team have a winning record during Bowles tenure? Heck no, not a lot has been accomplished other than winning a bad division. But if you want both gone you have to explain to me how a badly coached team (Todd) with little talent (Jason) can win more games than they lose over a three year period. A one year fluke, maybe. But not over an extended period of time.
For the record, my opinion is before now Todd had been doing just enough to keep his job. Low bar, I know. But it’s time for him to go. Also, Light has done a good job as GM assembling. a talented team that has some serious internal issues to work out. That’s where a new coach comes in. He has a good eye for OL talent, a hole in his vision of Edge players he needs to either fix or give in and trade for people already established.
December 29th, 2025 at 9:58 pm
He wont survive this
December 29th, 2025 at 10:06 pm
The Glazers have never fired a coach during the season. Give it until during or after the playoffs, and Bowles is gone.
That seems to be the consensus inside One Buc Place. I have no secret sources, but I am somewhat familiar with the organization. I understand some folks who work for the GM believe ownership has discreetly contacted associates of at least three HC candidates. My information could be wrong, but I would be extremely surprised if it were wrong. I would bet my mortgage at this information is correct, but would not ask anyone else to bet their mortgage.
Maybe one of the Joes Will confirm or debunk that theory.

Glazer Family has never launched a coach before the end of the season. Joe wrote — looks at clock — 15 hours ago the following:
Do NOT confuse public inactivity with inactivity. The Glazer Family does not conduct business in the public eye. At all. Just because no one has been told (yet) to clean out their office does it mean they are sitting on the hands preparing for a New Year’s Eve party.
In October 2013 the Glazer Family, Joe was told, had already reached out to candidates to take over the Bucs in January 2014.
*If* the Glazer Family has already decided to move on, it would not shock Joe one bit if they’ve already spoken to prospective candidates, or at least the candidates’ representatives.
December 30th, 2025 at 12:51 am
I am squarely in the “Fire Bowles” camp. But I can certainly foresee a scenario where Bowles is told to hire a DC, hire a new STC, and give it one more year. He has a fresh new contract from last year and frankly, this year isn’t seen as a year with a lot of up-and-coming young OC candidates. Just look at who’s being bantered about. Todd Monken is in his 60s. I love listening to Gruden talk ball, but you can’t argue that his 3 or 4 years with the Raiders left that team better off, talent-wise. Kubiak will be hot and have his choice of jobs, but then who else? Zac Robinson was a hot name going into the year, but his stock is down. Replacing one failed ex-Jet HC (Bowles) with another failed ex-Jet (Saleh) doesn’t make any sense. So based on who’s available, I (very sadly) can see a scenario where we replace the Coordinators and run it back one more year with Bowles, particularly if we manage to eek out the conference title.
December 30th, 2025 at 7:54 am
I surely hope the Glazers and Licht put in an escape clause in Bowles’ contract extension last year. If they didn’t, then thats just plain stupid. If they did put in an escape clause, then they were hedging their bets against the future, which has now arrived.
I get that Licht and the Glazers seem to be content with not rocking the boat before the end of the season. However, since the Falcons beat the Rams last night, the Bucs might be out of the playoff race, statistically speaking. Bowles and the entire team are dead men walking. Can’t fire the whole team for a total team meltdown. However, the Glazers cannot be happy with mediocrity and dissapointment of a Bowles led team.
I am on Bowles “Black Monday” watch. I won’t celebrate with a bottle of bubbly, but I will sigh with relief and hope and pray that the next HC offers more promise and potential. Go Bucs. Go Canes (my alma). In 2026 I will be watching and following both Tampa and the Canes from Illiois. After 30 years in Florida, I’m moving back North to freeze my keester off. Happy New Year. Be safe. Hug your kids and family. Don’t drink and drive. Stay home and pass out on your favorite couch. Cheers and God bless:)

Looks like the stormtroopers on this site are putting my previous comments into internet purgatory. Let me just copy and past the last paragraph.

All of the comments above are testimony to the passionate support of the Buccaneers. That support is a real thing. The comments are pro and con and everything in between. And the comments identify the good, the bad, and the ugly. The pros and cons are pretty self-evident. And the last two months of Bucs football has simply been bad and ugly. Losing seven of eight games is very ugly.
I grew up in Connecticut as a passionate New York Giants fan I lived and worked in NYC for 30+ years. When I retired to the Tampa Bay area in 2016, I adopted the Bucs. After cheering for many (good and bad) Giants QBs over the decades, Jameis Winston was an “interesting” adjustment. He was a goofball on and off the field. Now, as fate would have it, Jameis is a Giant. He is still a goofball. But in a better way. And a good QB2 for Jaxson Dart.
For the past ten years, the Giants were (and still are) as “ugly” as it gets. If Bucs ownership and management does not seize the moment, they risk the same fate as the Giants…NFL purgatory. Let the New York Giants be a cautionary tale for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Take it from someone who watched the mighty fall flat on their face.
P.S. After three hurricane evacuations in six years, I sold my house on the Gulf in 2023 and moved to Gainesville. No storm surge here. Glazers: Please make the necessary changes or I might have to adopt the Jaguars!

Belowszo will be a much better food taster for the players. Give him a promotion to the front office and have him eat three cheeseburgers a day for lunch. He’d probably lose some weight off of his current level. Third trimester Tood.
