Baker Mayfield Scramble Edge Vs. Miami

December 27th, 2025

There are positives about this Bucs season.

Yeah, you gotta pluck a lot of overgrown weeds.

Emeka Egbuka could pass 1,000 yards tomorrow against Miami. He’s got 910 for the season. Mike Evans posted 1,051 yards in his rookie year (2014) while playing in 15 games.

Also of note is Baker Mayfield leading the NFL in rushing yards for quarterbacks at 7.0 yards per carry.

That actually applies in a huge way tomorrow in the Bucs’ must-win game against the Dolphins. (Or must-lose for many fans.) The word from NFL Network data queen Cynthia Frelund is that the Dolphins are the second-worst team in the league when it comes to bringing down scrambling quarterbacks. She’s pulling that from NFL NextGen Stats, which tracks players’ game equipment via satellite technology.

Per NextGen, Mayfield gets 2.3 yards “more than expected” when he scrambles, so Mayfield taking off running tomorrow sounds like an advantage for the Bucs.

Throw in that the Dolphins are tanking, and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick won’t play, and maybe the Bucs can scramble their way to their first “W” of this December.

    Maybe, but I doubt it!

  2. Tom Petty Says:

Rather see the pass game be efficient and effective instead of relying on Baker scrambling.

The Bucs will beat Miami, beat Carolina next week
The only question I have is how many playoffs games we win

I’m not concerned about the next 2 games
    They already in the bag

Here’s a message to the sideline: if your QB runs for a first down and hits your sideline, you better get your fat lazy asses up and show some enthusiasm.

Last week was a disgrace. So uninterested. So unmotivated.

The bucs will never win a Superbowl with Baker Mayfield it’s time for y’all to let him go and just accept who he is as a quarterback. The only way to change people minds about Baker is if we get to the NFC Championship. The bucs must move on from Baker and Bowles!!

Look at all the teams that have won 10 or more games and who they have at quarterback?

  11. Bojim Says:

It will be another team trying to give us the game. Take it. Make everybody feel good to win.

JOE I for one want them to win. Defense is what it is at this point but man grizz has got to get this offense going. Starts up front with the big uglies. Baker needs more time than what the line has bin giving him. So tired of seeing guys coming in untouched almost like watching our defense leave guys wide open 🤦‍♂️. Grizz needs to stop with all the east n west and go north and south.

    Denver has Bo Nix. 6’2″

    Baker is 6’1″

But the Broncos have Sean Payton. That’s the difference. Not the QB size. Sean designs LOTS of rollouts for Bo.

  14. jcscycles Says:

Also Eagles have Jalen Hurts at 6’1″.

  15. jcscycles Says:

Liam Coen designed rollout plays for Mayfield last year. But Liam was a 6’1″ QB at UMass, so he understands what needs to get done. Sean Payton was also a college QB. Also in Arena and Canadian leagues.

Josh Grizzard was a WR at Yale and a QB in high school.
