Haason Reddick And His Bucs Days

December 27th, 2025

Edge rusher Haason Reddick.

Despite missing four games with injuries, it may shock Bucs fans to know how much improved outside linebacker Haason Reddick has been from his forgettable season last year with the Jets.

Playing in just one more game so far this year than he logged with the Jets, Reddick has 2.5 sacks, nearly triple what he had last year (1) in New York.

Prior to joining Jets, Reddick was a sack machine, one of the NFL’s best.

Yesterday, Todd Bowles was asked if Reddick’s medically-impaired season prevented him from getting into a rythym and thus not getting more sacks.

Maybe, Bowles suggested, but he wasn’t totally buying that line of thinking.

“I mean, some,” Bowles said. “[On] some [potential sacks] we just missed them.

“He’s gotten back there, we just [have] to close the deal on the ones he gets back there on.”

Fair point.

Joe has no idea if Reddick returns next year or not. Reddick is a free agent in March and Joe is confident the Bucs will move on unless Reddick would agree to huge pay cut.

That means the Bucs should be once again in the market for an edge rusher in free agency. Drafting an edge rusher in the first round — if you believe he will be developed (Joe doesn’t) — means that he likely wouldn’t make an impact until 2027. Maybe.

The five edge rushers drafted in Round 1 this year have combined for only 17 1/2 sacks.

And a big problem is quality edge rushers don’t often hit the open market. (Yes, Joe knows who Josh Sweat is.)

  2. SeanBucsFan87 Says:

Send 2 1st and a 3rd to the raiders for crosby.

  3. Kayla Says:

Ineffective and injured: 14M. Thanks for nothing…

  4. Oldbucsfan Says:

Stop bringing people here and pumping them up like they the next coming of Christ and this crap will stop. This guy is complete garbage at rushing the passer.

  5. Slacker Says:

Would have been better off with Jj Reddick

  6. Jeff Says:

    He’s broke down. Easy cut.

  7. Vegasbuc Says:

    Fire Todd

  8. Steven007 Says:

I would be on board with a Crosby trade. He’s the type of guy we need with the attitude and pass rush skills. And he’s unhappy in Vegas apparently. Really curious what Walker does next year. Almost like an extra draft pick. Problem is, he was an old rookie and will be 26 next season.

  9. Conte Piscatelli Says:

Hard to get sacks when the soft zones are giving qbs gimmie throws every play.

  10. Saskbucs Says:

A new coaching regime may be able to develop a pass rusher or 2.

Poach someone from Denver or Houston.

Move to a 4-3 and let the DEs hunt.

  11. Gipper Says:

Yes, Reddick was a major part of the remarkable 2025 Bucs defense. Resign him and Dean for $25Mill/each. Munch says he will donate part of his own money to keeping these defensive titans on the team in 2026.

  12. Ufc Says:

    Crosby do it

  13. Lokog Says:

Bucs should keyshawn Johnson him he’s worthless and doesn’t fit in i don’t think vita likes him.

  14. Let em bake Says:

But he and Diaby are great at creating “ pressures”…😎

  15. Lakeland Says:

We need a better GM than Jason Licht for drafting Edge Rusher
As soon as these Licht defensive draft picks leave Tampa
They disappear, floating from one practice squad to another
Or they become backup role players

We need a quality NFL GM

  16. Nutterbuccer Says:

    Steal Kaden Ellis from Falcons

  17. Bucfan1988 Says:

Max Crosby was deactivated for last 2 games for the Raiders.
    He was livid!!

    He’s done with them.

Wonder if we could work a trade for next year??

  18. Smashsquatch Says:

Four beasts on the D0-line with fast LBs is the way to go. Beef it up. Think VV on the edge. Collapse that damn pocket and get after the QB if he escapes with your backers. Forget finding these hybrid edges who can drop. All that does is open up the middle. Because we all know the middle is open. Always. I fully expect Ewers to shred the middle tomorrow despite his owners’ wish.

  19. Lakeland Says:

Jason Licht loves those athletic speedy Edge Rushers
He don’ go for the powerful, beasty Rushers

The thing is, power is more important than speed coming off the edge

  20. Hodad Says:

Start by firing Licht, and Bowles. Who’s the assistant GM for the Rams, or Philly? Get a new GM from a winning organization, let him poach some good staff, and players. Clean house, total rebuild..

  21. TampaBayBucFan Says:

Fans wonder why our Defense is so poor….all you have to do is look at the failures with our top defensive draft picks and our one high-priced FA.

Hall, JTS, Braswell, Morrison (injured) Kancey (injured) Reddick

All of these are first or 2nd round picks……very little to show for these 6 picks.

  22. ModHairKen Says:

Hmmmm. Maybe it is the defensive scheme? Maybe the coaches are just not good? Dungy had Herm Edwards to whip the team into shape. Gruden and Arians did not need a whip.

    This team needs some fire.

Who is providing it? Name one player or coach?

    Clean house.

  23. 941bucsfan Says:

Name the last 10 sack edge rusher that the bucs drafted… Hint: you gotta go back to the 1970s

  24. Boltsfan17 Says:

Another swing and a miss by Licht.

  25. Bucks 'n' Bucs Says:

I wasn’t worried about his numbers. I was hoping he’d force a double team and free up the rest of the D line. That just hasn’t been the case. Too bad.

  26. Lol Says:

That guy who wears 5 is soft. Hope they didn’t rely on him this season

  27. Simeon4HOF Says:

Would really be something if this dude could step it up next 4 to 6 weeks.
Do it for $$ next year #5

  28. Lakeland Says:

The Giants gave the Carolina Panthers a 2nd, 5th and a 5th swap
That’s one of the all time greatest steals in the history of the NFL

It’s like us giving them Chris Braswell and Sirvocea Dennis

  29. Bucsalltheway Says:

Crosby is priority number 1 this off-season if we are serious about anything…they don’t want to risk him getting injured the final 2 weeks helping him miss a bonus he is pissed this smells like he will go to the highest bidder in the off-season we better be in play or we will suck at de yet again another year our young guys need to watch him operate to see how bad they suck at rushing the passer

  30. Lightningvinny1 Says:

Crosby and or Hendrickson should both be available ,,, both seem to hate their team at this point

  31. FrontFour Says:

That ship sailed long ago. Reddick should retire.

  32. Bucsalltheway Says:

I’d take him and Devin white and add them to this roster but we gotta get rid of licht and bowles to get white back…they have too much pride and will quickly say sirvoccia is better than Devin white…Devin sucks at coverage but what he can do that lavonte cannot is play side to side with speed we seriously lack that if we have that just a little we make opposing qbs think more…they KNOW we cannot stop a runny nose right now so we get constantly exposed most of it is lack of pass rush and most of it is lack of hustle and swarming to the ball..

  33. Bucsalltheway Says:

Hendrickson coming off injury could be bargain time for us he can’t demand top shelf not coming off a top shelf season

  34. Bucsalltheway Says:

Reddick hs been lost all season and out of position alot and doing a lot of thinking out there his hand full of plays we could have got from ramirez if we kept him

  35. Nicholas Carlson Says:

It’s a position worth trading for

  36. GenocideD Says:

    Who?
    Tryon shoystinka all over again

  37. adam from ny Says:

from the title, i thought he got waived

  38. buccintimeforchanges Says:

Pay cut? For what? No. I don;t want t him for league minimum.

Get JL outta here. No more of these loser picks and awful FA’s.

Bring back Brady to GM. He knows how to win and what it takes. These guys do not.

  39. adam from ny Says:

it would have been something if we could have grabbed sean payton as a head coach a couple years back…

yeah i hate the dude as a saint and all…

but that guy is some kinda special head coach…

i said watch him take over kc’s division, give him a couple years…and low and behold the dude did it…with young bo nix too…

i saw all the writing on the wall there…

i remember when the drafted nix as well…i knew he wasn’t slipping past payton at like number 12 or whatever it was…

we were picking at i think like 26, and i was saying if he’s there, just grab him…we went barton if i recall…which is fine…

but man oh man – that payton is a hell of a head coach, like him or not

  40. adam from ny Says:

crosby is pretty banged up – that’s why he’s been shut down…

    he had 10 sacks in 15 games…and a decent season…

yeah we all want him…….but the real question is if he is at that tipping point in his career to where he is starting to down cycle…

and i say the answer is yes…on both he and hendrickson…

both are past nfl puberty now…and will cost a pretty penny – just as reddick did…

i’m not saying they’re washed out like reddick, but they’re on the other side of beautious and couldn’t get a modeling gig if they tried…just ask gisele

  41. adam from ny Says:

could you get 2 very productive years out of crosby or hendrickson………yeah…

but 3 or more and you’re playing with fire

  42. destinjohnny Says:

Whos idea was it to pay this washed up dude?

  43. SlyPirate Says:

Jim Rome unloaded on Bowles. The sharks are circling.

  44. BigPoppaBuc Says:

Both he and Diaby simply can’t tackle a QB. Diaby especially hard to keep watching blow past his blocker then right past the QB

  45. PoopyPants Says:

pretty pathetic that a losing record may with the retard NFC South

  46. Marine Buc Says:

    Who?

Does this guy play for the Bucs?

    News to me…

    LOL!

    What a waste….

  47. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The great news is that we won’t miss him when he’s gone…

Yes. As you said. All on the defensive side of the football.

Further to that. Player development on the other side of the ball has clearly been much better. Which has nothing to do with J Licht only being able to pick talent on one side of the football. This team has had enough talent to win this (weak) division because of their talent overcoming their garbage coaching. So, before some of you start getting out the pitchforks and brimstone for Jason Licht. You may want to slow your roll a bit.

    BTW..

Has Todd Bowles ever developed a double digit edge rusher?

The Glazers are on the clock.

  49. BuxfaninTX Says:

Destinjohnny it’s the same guy that thought it was a good idea to sign Randy Gregory and draft Joe Tryon

  50. ManzielMadness Says:

Would love it if we traded for Crosby. Unfortunately, I have no hope that we will…

  51. Bonan Says:

Chasing ghosts. It’s time to move on.

  52. Confido75 Says:

Seemed like a good pickup at the time. He will get paid a lot less next year and chase the money with the next team.

  53. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Lakeland

    What you talking about?

  54. Tony Says:

I wanted Crosby from the beginning when he was coming out of Eastern Michigan.

  55. Woodman Says:

Hendrickson will be 32 next year. No thanks

  56. DungyDance Says:

“Send 2 1st and a 3rd to the raiders for crosby.”

Why? Pretty steep for someone who will drop back in coverage on soft zone every other down. Same thing with some dudes out there that like to spend $300k on a fancy car and leave it parked in the garage all week.

  57. Todd Says:

When should JBF readers look for a Jason Licht Confidence Poll?

  58. pancake block Says:

5.75 million per sack, alrighty then.

  59. Lakeland Says:

    If you’re a NFL 1st , 2nd round draft pick
You shouldn’t need any development, you should be ready to play
Why waste a 1st or 2nd on a guy that you gotta develop
You develop late round picks or UDFA

Joe Tyron , a 1st round pick, failed with the Bucs
Signed by Cleveland to play opposite Myles Garrett
After 8 games with Cleveland, Zero sacks
Cleveland waived him, Chicago signed him for depth
7 games with Chicago, Zero sacks

  60. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    He won’t be returning
