Bucs Pushing Calijah Kancey In Effort To Salvage Season?

Update.
The 21-day window for Calijah Kancey to be activated from injured reserve was triggered this morning by the Bucs. But is it too late to save the Bucs and are the Bucs pushing Kancey prematurely?
Kancey has been on injured reserve since tearing a pec muscle in the win at Houston back in September. Last week while walking around One Buc Palace, Joe was told by someone with direct knowledge of Kancey’s rehab that his target date to return was the playoffs.
A lot changed since last week.
So are the Bucs panicking to save the season? The Bucs are playing the tanking Dolphins this week so that *should* be a win, which sets up a do-or-die game with the Stinking Panthers in the final week of the season.
Naturally, the 21-day window to activate Kancey stretches into the playoffs. So we will see if Kancey is on the field a week from Sunday when the Bucs finish the regular season against Carolina in The Licht House.

Not going to lie about it. My faith in the Bucs left my soul 2nd quarter of Rams game. I admire the positive attitude of others. Just remember if Bucs somehow win next two games, there is a good chance of a rematch against that same Rams team that completely embarrassed this franchise to the point of mercy. On 4th down trailing by 3 scores backed up in own territory Todd goes for it out of desperation. Once that play failed a mutual respectful agreement was made between coaches and players to spare further humiliation. Rams took the foot off the gas pedal. In exchange if we cross paths in the future you owe us one.

He is not in game shape, so him only playing 20 snaps is not going to be enough
. How effective is he going to be after not playing in a long time you know?? Management is desperate cause they know jobs will be lost if they don’t make something happen.

I agree with Jeremy. Hope is lost this is not a team that can go deep in the playoffs anymore. Time to reset and slight rebuild. Put money in the wrong guys i lile godwin but this is his 3rd major injury he came off of and u pay 20 milli. Winfield is alright but doesnt play like he did during contract year. I think we have to move on from licht and bowles.

I like Kancey,
But we have to face the facts, he’s average at best
He’s no Aaron Donald, but he’s the best the Bucs have
He’s not much of a difference maker

Looks like a bust, sorry. I know i wanted Braswell and i dropped the ball on that one, another bust. But i remember pushing for Emmanwori and TE Darnell Washington and quite a few others we missed on. But some we got, Vea, Wirfs, White (when he helped us win a SB) Winfield, Bucky….bleh, i need to shush. Now i want Sonny Styles and Kenyatta Jackson, but ken might go in the first or top of the 2nd. We have to fix this D.

I can see him playing 15 ish snaps against the Cats but his presence only helps with one issue, interior depth. Can’t see him making that big of an impact till the wild card round if we are lucky enough to see it.
One draft prospect to look out for who is a Kancy type player is Rueben Bain. Similar build with Bain bulking up to play DT in the NFL. More durable, stronger, and seems to me more polished in the pass rush game.

Kancey is the most overrated player on this team. For the 1 sack he gets every 3 games, he’s a massive liability in the run game. I know Joe will argue ‘he didn’t miss a tackle all season!’ But you can’t miss a tackle if you’re not in the position to make a tackle. The guy gets completely washed out of plays 90% of the time.

Well, here we are. Desperation time for Jason and Todd. Ironically, the defense and Baker have been most blamed for the team’s second half of the season swoon this year. Kancey must be the band-aid for the defense. I doubt he would make any difference unless they change the game plan and drop the ineffective zone defense that has allowed all of these teams that have recently beat the Bucs to march down the field unimpeded in the fourth quarter.

Kancy is a typical pick for Licht. A guy with great physical presence (see JTS) and is just good enough to not be a total bust (see Braswell). Does anybody think that the opposing OC will say to his lineman, “Be sure to keep an eye on that Braswell guy, he’s a load”? Is there anybody on the defense to worry about other than Vita?
Licht should catch the same bus out of town as Bowles!

It is a bit too late since captain Bowles’s boat is sinking like the Titanic. Panthers may put the Bucs out of misery by the next game in Tampa. It is time to rebuild the team with an offensive head coach and a new qb. Baker does not has the its factor. If Baker can play 25% as good as of what Brady did for the Bucs. The team is not in a bad situation right now.

PFF thinks he’s trash. I agree with the experts. Was never NFL quality. He’s a nice role playing backup. When the Bucs are down by 20, send in Kancy to sweep up the sh&t.
