Bryce Young Had Todd Bowles For Lunch
December 22nd, 2025Boy, a quarterback’s best friend isn’t a running game. It’s a Todd Bowles defense.
Seemingly every week for way, way, way too long, a struggling or underperforming quarterback faces the Bucs and Bowles’ defense. Then the guys is typically cured by halftime.
Two weeks ago it was Tyler Shough. Last week it was Kirk “509” Cousins. Yesterday, it was the Stinking Panthers’ erratic, runaround midget quarterback Bryce Young.
Oh, joy!
It seems Young had Bowles for not just breakfast, but for a large champagne brunch. Not only did Young make big plays against man coverage, Young roasted Bowles’ coveted zone defense, documents Nick Shook of NFL.com.
Next Gen Stats Insight for Buccaneers-Panthers (via NFL Pro): Bryce Young was particularly effective when targeting the outside numbers on Sunday, connecting on 10 of 16 attempts (62.5%) for 116 yards and both of his touchdown passes. While he completed 17 of 21 attempts (81.0%) against zone coverage for 118 yards, his two touchdown passes came against man coverage.
It’s like this every week. And it will continue. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
Bowles should be getting a piece of the bonuses NFC South quarterbacks get as a result of him bringing these quarterbacks back to life.

Insanity. You mean like when we start out great, suck in the middle and then go on a run at the end? Except this year there’s no run.
The glazers are on the clock.

Every QB has Todd for lunch. Most have him for breakfast, and dinner too!

Quinn Ewers is about to look like a ROY this weekend.

As has head coach he proves over and over he his not the guy. Look at the team he inherited from B.A. Bowles is probably a great man and mentor. He just not head coaching material. Love the guy hate the guy whatever we all want to do. He doesn’t hold players accountable. All year bone head penalties even yesterday. More penalties that first downs. Then look at Josh G. If you think Josh G. was calling plays yesterday your out of you mind. That’s classic Bowles we are running the ball no matter what he almost go away with it. Lets look at maybe the reason for so many runs, in my opinion he said to himself if I am going down i am going down my way I am the head coach. Speaking of being the H.C. start with the defense they are atrocious. Read a comment yesterday during the game someone posted( the defense can’t stop a parked car.) His defense couldn’t stop the almighty Brice Young (what).Special teams looks like Swiss cheese and no focus. Now the offense liam cohen was here last year and showed Bowles, with how to run and offense. The H.C. on any successful team would keep that play book. He chose to not use the same plays that got him the division title last year. As a H.C. he has that right but this is his result. He was asked yesterday at halftime you ran the ball 19 times and only 9 passes he said he was happy with the balance attack. You can’t expect any team and or a quarterback to always need to go the length of the field in almost every game and expect to win down the stretch after handcuffing them all game long. Yes Baker has look normal this year early in the season he looked great and until 6-2 start the conservative Todd Bowles kicks in again. He took the play calling away from Josh G. not sure if he really let Josh G. have it.He can do that he’s the H.C. love him or hate him this is a Todd Bowles team. I personally don’t want to rebuild again. In my opinion I think it’s time for a change. We tried and this is what happens every year back door our way into the playoffs. I am not sure about the playoffs. Thats my never played football view from my couch. Love the Buccaneers.

Unsettling, for sure. Bryce looked great.
Leighroy Says: “Quinn Ewers is about to look like a ROY this weekend.” Yikes, I am still trying to wrap my head around yesterday’s loss. Afraid to start thinking about next week 😊

Pathetic, how does Bowles not adapt his schemes, every week below average qbs have career days against Bowles’ schemes. They have figured out his exotic BS, all they have to do is scan the field and find the mismatch, the pass rush is non-existent. The Fins will burn him like everyone else. The O will probably dink and dunk again and struggle to score 17 or 20 to a team that is playing backups and has called it a season. Fire Bowles, Fire him!!!!!!!!

Taylen Green Arkansas Qb make it happen Licht 🙏🏽

Stan: the Grizzard playbook yesterday looked like Leftwich calling games when they lost to the Steelers and Carolina in stunning fashion back in 2022.

FortMyersDave – I think many of us thought Grizz would be a gem since he was already involved. Now we know. However, something else has been up since the bye too. They were doing well, and then they were not.

For those not paying attention, Bowles has stated publicly, that “He’s not concerned with what the other team does, he’s concerned with what he’s trying to do!” This sums it all up! Coaching malpractice!
December 22nd, 2025 at 6:58 am
Bowles and the entire staff are dead men walking. Don’t let the door hit yaz in the azz on the way out. LOSERS.
December 22nd, 2025 at 6:58 am
Why are the Glazers, just sitting on their hands??? Do something, anything??? Please…….
December 22nd, 2025 at 7:04 am
Have the owners been watching the last 3 years? Are they on a lifelong vacation?
December 22nd, 2025 at 7:28 am
Need change!!!
December 22nd, 2025 at 7:37 am
HeavyE, the Glazers always wait until the end of the season to make changes. The one exception, Smitty under Koetter, he got launched in mid-season.

FortmyersDave,
The Offense running the ball was on Bowles! He said so himself in the halftime interview. There is no offensive coordinator in his right mind that would think running the ball 40 times is a great idea! Especially when you have 4 excellent receivers.
December 22nd, 2025 at 8:06 am
Bucnjim, I think you are right, the offense playing ball control has Bowles fingerprints all over it.. Keeping the ball away from the Panthers O. Well, it did not work, even though the Bucs won the time of possession by 9+ minutes. Also, one other thing which did not work yesterday was Bowles dialing up a blitz right before halftime when the Panthers had a 2nd down but only time for one play and getting burned when Dean bit on man coverage and got burned for the TD. Bowles superior genius bites him in the backside again. That was the game! Should have been 10-6 or 10-9 at halftime. Fire Bowles.

Been going on for years.
December 22nd, 2025 at 8:49 am
Play Quinn Ewers in your fantasy league this coming week!!!
December 22nd, 2025 at 8:59 am
I have said this before and others here and Joe himself accused me of not being a true Buc fan simply because i pointed out the obvious. The super Bowl “Bowles defensive masterpiece” against the Chiefs was due to THREE OL Starters out and remaining two starting OL were moved to different positions on the line (and yes Shaq had a great game). Yes i was still happy that the Bucs won!. But come on! Bowles is an average coach at best…and that’s being kind.
What happened the next year when the Bucs lost Wirfs and Jensen???
December 22nd, 2025 at 9:03 am
Why my moniker is Told You So, I’ve been begging on this thread for three years to make a change to not waste our team’s talent. Three years wasted. Thanks Glazers!

Bucs will be lucky to get 50% of the stadium filled next year if they retain Bowles.
Letting Bowles go has seemed obvious for several years. Ownership and Jason Licht like Coach Bowles, but he is perhaps the worst head coach in the NFL.
I wanted the Bucs to promote their OC the last two years, but the Bucs were too smart for that. Sheesh
