YaYa Diaby Feels The Urgency To Win Today

December 21st, 2025

No time for slackers, YaYa said.

The Bucs dug their own hole. And if they aren’t careful, that hole in the next eight days could turn into the grave of their 2025 season.

By choking away wins in back-to-back weeks, losing to the slimy Saints and the Dixie Chicks, both at home, both coughing up leads in the fourth quarter, the Bucs now find themselves tied with the Stinking Panthers in first place with three games to play.

The Bucs need to win two games, in any combination, to win the division and make the playoffs. If the Bucs lose today, they then need to win their final two games or it’s off to the DR.

YaYa Diaby has no intention or desire to begin searching for flights to the Caribbean. Yet.

“We have to win,” Diaby said of today’s matchup against the Stinking Panthers. “We have to come together. We have to hold ourselves accountable.

“We have to make sure we [make plays] where needed. … We have to get after it.”

The Bucs were really in a pickle after losing last Thursday night in truly ugly fashion, which sparked a rare obscenity-laden rant from Bucs coach Todd Bowles.

YaYa could feel Bowles’ frustration. Because YaYa is frustrated, too.

“We have another chance at life but this is the last straw,” YaYa said. “No more just going through the motions in practice. … If guys hold themselves accountable and everyone looks at themselves in the mirror, we will go far.”

One thing is for sure, YaYa’s attitude isn’t the problem in the locker room.

    🤣😜🤪🄲😢🤮

Play for a losing coach, learn how to be a loser.

  2. Oregon Buc Says:

He told us a whole lot in that tiny sound bite. Who in the hell is going through the motions in practice? I’ve seen Yaya loaf enough times to know that he just told on himself. Now you wanna play huh? Gtfo dude, we don’t need you deciding when you feel like playing or not

  3. MadMax Says:

Well, one is benched finally….”injured reserve” so they say…..Zyon.

  4. Oregon Buc Says:

MadMax, spot on analysis. Additional by subtraction as far as Zyon goes. He is the kind of loafers on this team

yaya can wake up today and decide to be a zero “0” or a hero this afternoon…

hopefully jpp’s frothy on-field nature will rub off, turning duds into dudes this afternoon…

    OREGON,
I am not sure loafing is the correct word. I have seen Diaby 30 yards downfield
trying to cover a WR on MCcullum’s side of the field. SO it is entirely possible our OL’s are gassed late in the game when we need a sack in the worst way.
    worst way.
Since we give up big plays late in games. I think getting Izien in the game to
shore up the middle as a hybrid LB or extra safety.

  9. Viktor Vaughn Says:

How about feeling the urgency to complete a sack?

  10. heyjude Says:

Respect what YaYa says, but we have needed urgency for awhile now. Yes, now it is definitely an urgency. Go Bucs!

  11. Inwoodjeremy Says:

Extended vacation time, and going through the motions when they do practice. That about sums the last 8 weeks up. Brady had to much killer instincts Mayfield said. The team didn’t like playing with him because he demanded perfection and execution. Getting to the SB and winning was to much work.

  12. Tony Says:

I think we need to give Captain Fear a chance to go out & start on D.

  13. JohnQCitizen Says:

    We all know what’s coming.

  14. Christos Says:

Sorry but we have heard a lot of words over the last couple of years and no action. Words before games words after the game but during the game nothing.
I m a Bucs fan and I will always support the team no matter how frustrating it is to see the same things over and over again BUT the truth is I have no confidence in this team. For me it is beyond the phase of wait to see it to believe it because even if we see a good game no one knows what we will see on the next one.
    Go Bucs.

  15. Inwoodjeremy Says:

Todd brought in Baker and told him don’t be Tom Brady be yourself. Here he is! Week 6 MVP. When the seasons on the line is he going to lead a game winning drive or throw a INT or fumble a jet sweep… Only time will tell. We all seen both but now he’s got to do it 7 times in a row. I don’t think he’s consistent enough for that.

  16. HC Grover Says:

    Canales will choke it.

I was there before ā€˜76 when exhibition games were played in Tampa to measure the interest for an NFL team. Went to most of the 0-26 games and am still a fan….but it isn’t easy right now. We need changes and hopefully they’ll come swiftly after the season.

  18. Hodad Says:

There’s no coming back if they drop their third in a row division game just before xmas. Future of this team is riding on today. Where loafers to the game.

  19. Allen Lofton Says:

Player accountability needs to show up these last few games. What are they waiting for? Everyone at the beginning of the season said the Bucs were a playoff team. It showed up at the start of the season but has calapsed after the bye week.

It not like a faulsit that you can turn on and off. This team really wasn’t a playoff team. There are some glaring holes on the defensive line, LINE BACKER position.

They may get to the playoffs but their offense will have to carry the team through out the playoffs to have a chance at a Super Bowl šŸ† win.

Historically the Bucs have had two teams to do that. This team hasn’t shown that capability or mentality and it doesn’t start by turning on a faulsit.

I’d love to eat my words but…

  20. Pewter Power Says:

Hold ourselves accountable šŸ¤” he had to say it twice. This defense is broken and if they lose the division Bowles is burnt toast

  21. 1sparkybuc Says:

I have no confidence in Bowles, and little confidence in his defense. I have great confidence in our receiving corps, including our RBs, IF the interior of the OL can protect Mayfield just a little. White should be RB1, Irving RB2, and Tucker RB3 until something changes in their performance. This is virtually the beginning of the season for Irving, and he obviously is not ready to shoulder the majority of the load. White has produced when given the opportunity, running and receiving. Grizz depends on him too much as a blocker, and seems to forget that he’s a great weapon. No team in the NFL has a better receiving corps than the Bucs have right now, and don’t forget Tez. Maybe mix in a little Culp once in a while. We should score more than the 28 points we did last week with this Offense. It shouldn’t be a close game, but the defense is always a question. After so many years it’s hard to come to grips that the defense, year after year, is the weak spot for this franchise. I want a change at DC more than anything else. I believe Grizz just needs healthy players to succeed. Neither Canales or Coen would be moving on to head coaching jobs if they had to deal with the injury situation that Grizz was faced with this year. Grizz deserves a second chance with, hopefully, a healthy offense. Bowles doesn’t. His defenses are the anchor stuck in the mud year after year. This isn’t the first time that I thought that the Bucs’ HC could save his job if he would just fire the DC. 50 years I’ve been watching this team. Please fire the DC. Give Bowles Bruce’s job.

  22. Popmike66 Says:

Hodad I agree but I just don’t have the trust in Bowles defense at this time to help the team win at least 2 of the last 3 games. Also, after doing a lot of research, I found that it’s a good chance Bowles is back next year with several coaches being replaced especially DB, ST,and a few others. Also several plays will be traded

  23. Kayla Says:

On a good Defense, YaYa would be a really good back-up OLB to be the first off the bench (replacing Nelson’s role) to give the starters a rest throughout the game so they’re fresh for the 4th quarter. As a 3rd round pick that’s his ceiling and that’s not a bad thing at all.

  24. Kenton Smith Says:

Five consecutive stories about our defense. The first one about ā€œalmost sacksā€. Joe, for crying out loud we’re not getting an edge rusher for 2026, at least not now. Evans and Godwin have 15 thousand yard seasons. The only receiver duo in the league who can boast that. And they’re on fresh legs. I’m hoping ( yeah, hoping) that the defense can do better. But if we’re going to do anything this year the offense is gonna have to lead the way. And there’s a chance of that happening.

  25. BucFan4Life Says:

Any update on why he didn’t feel the urgency to win last week or the week before? Sad!!!!
