Jason Pierre-Paul Is Back!

December 20th, 2025

“JPP, if you get a sack against Carolina, we’ll make sure you will have a very, very happy holiday. Promise.”

It is very difficult for Joe to believe Jason Pierre-Paul won’t see the field tomorrow at Bank of America Stadium after the Bucs made this transaction this afternoon.

The Bucs today elevated JPP to the active roster from the practice squad. So JPP is eligible to play on Sunday against the Stinking Panthers.

Why would the Bucs do that if they had no plans to use him?

Look, Joe loves JPP but banking on a guy who hasn’t had a sack since 2022 is like a drowning man desperately grasping at a life preserver that hasn’t yet reached his wingspan.

If JPP gets a sack, awesome! Joe wouldn’t bank on it, especially if JPP is covering Tetairoa McMillan.

he is better then anyone we have now and he hasnt played in 2 years, that’s how sad the Bucs are

  2. Stpetematt Says:

He had time to heal and he’s been working out for over a year now. Should be good.

  3. Stpetematt Says:

Also he claims he’s at his best fitness level of his life. Sure would be great if true.

  4. Nicholas Carlson Says:

My hope is he spent his two years off at a black market treatment center

  5. BA’s Red Pen Says:

    JPP > Braswell.

  6. johnnythemoon Says:

Campbell is still producing at 40years old…You never know .

  7. Defense Rules Says:

Johnnythemoon … ‘Campbell is still producing at 40years old…You never know.’

    Excellent point! Keep hope alive.

  8. toopanca Says:

Covering McMillen is okay Joe. It won’t be JPP’s first interception!

  9. Dew Says:

The Bears have added DL Joe Tryon-Shoyinka to the practice report. He missed practice for personal reasons. His absence was not injury related.

  10. Deeboooo Says:

That little boy Bryce is gonna get knocked around! Hope he ate his wheaties

  11. mluckett Says:

He can take reps from Braswell!! Wouldn’t bother me

  12. Beeej Says:

Would be awesome if we were playing Colts, THEN he could sack Rivers

  13. UGotRobbed Says:

No sacks but he might be able to cover! Probably why they brought him in…for his pass coverage skills! 🤔 p

    Rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic.

    Embarrassing.

  15. Bonan Says:

    Welcome back, friend. Help!

  16. Saskbucs Says:

Even if JPP doesn’t get a pressure let alone a sack… he will help the line, especially against a young, little guy like Bryce.

You know why? Cause JPP has good instincts and will get his hands up and deflect balls. He should also be very good at setting the edge and keeping Dowdle and Hubbard inside.

Not sure why I seldom see deflected balls from our guys but if I remember correctly, JPP gets his club on balls haha.

  17. JustOneGame Says:

    Go get em’ JPP!

    * Side note, Rams who just lost the #1 seed decided their ST coach wasn’t doing his job. What’d did McVay do, fired him ACTUAL ACCOUNTABILITY

  18. BucsNbeer Says:

    So you’re saying there’s a chance 🤣

  19. BucsfaninOregon Says:

JUST, that’s exactly why this team drives me nut. They NEVER EVER make anybody responsible for gross errors on this team. JTS…give him time (YEARS!).

Braswell…he’s going to be great (next year?).

ST coach…everybody has to coach better/players play better??!

    BTW, JPP>JTS>BRASWELL!

  20. Kayla Says:

The Panthers have high round draft picks at both tackles who can handle him, and everyone else we have, quite easily. And will.

  21. Hodad Says:

The save Bowles bowl. Have to believe it’s a do or die game for Todd.

  22. Rod Munch Says:

We needed someone to replace Zyon at corner.

  23. Pewter Power Says:

Desperation and it’s pathetic. All Bucs need is accountability. After the last RAMS fired their special teams coach. They didn’t adjust by kicking the ball in the end zone. Bowles is trash. they could activate an ancient ninja that teleports to the quarterback and Bowles would screw it up

  24. Tampabaybucfan Says:

My hopes of Carl Nicks toe healing and playing guard may still come true.

  25. Vanessa Anne Says:

The last sentence of your post is key, Joe.

If… if… JPP isn’t dropping back into coverage.

Unfortunately, that’s probably where we’ll see him a good chunk of the time.

    That’s a crime and a shame.

JPP has such a natural instinct for the pass rush.

  26. orlbucfan Says:

I hope he isn’t playing. Go Bucs!!

  27. Tony Says:

    @Vanessa Anne

That’s what I thought. JPP might help if he’s not dropping out but I’m sure he probably will be along with Yaya. Yaya could very easily have twice as many sacks as he’s got now if he wasn’t dropping out during the games.

  28. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

After all the good bad and ugly – everything is in place for a run. Let’s go JPP!

  29. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

“Why would the Bucs do that if they had no plans to use him?” – Joe

Maybe Licht had reason to suspect someone was considering signing him off the practice squad?

Word that he looked good could have leaked out.

I for one just want to watch him play again. I made this wish a few weeks ago, so was really surprised it happened, lol.

  30. Southern BucLife Says:

TOM BRADY IS BACK !!!!!Baker is pissed !!!! Gronk is thinking about it !!!! MASTERMIND & H.O.F. DEFENSIVE GERU Bowels really showed his genius this time !!!!! MICHAEL STRAHAN was seen @ One Bucs Place running drills !!!!!! LETS GO. !!!!!!

  31. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Vanessa Anne Says:
“If… if… JPP isn’t dropping back into coverage.”

Bowles didn’t drop him back a lot when he was here last time, so we’ll see.

  32. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Personally, I’m hoping JPP gets 2-3 sacks this game. He’s what? 5.5 from breaking a record?

He has reason enough to get them.

  33. Southern BucLife Says:

Might as well call MIKE DITKA & bring back the CHICAGO BEARS 46 DEFENSE !!!!!! Is WILLIE JOE NAMATH still in shape ????? MARK GASTINEAU ?????? DICK BUTKUS ????

  34. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Southern BucLife, you must be young. Only this generation would think any of that is funny, lol.

  35. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Or from Atlanta…they’re pretty dumb.

  36. Bartow Buc Says:

Let me assure all of you that JPP = trouble for Bryce Young !!

    Go Bucs !!

  37. Bobby Says:

Hope JPP shocks the world and dominates the Panthers O-line tomorrow. Bucs should have resigned him after the 2022 season. Instead they let him go and drafted busts Logan Hall and JTS in 2nd and first rounds. Bad move ny Bucs management.

  38. Irishmist Says:

At least we now have the record for the most active players with broken necks.

  39. Bobby M. Says:

Literally saw him today moving out of my building off Bayshore. Dude looks lean and in shape but we’ll see if that equates to game ready.

  40. purplebeard Says:

    Any given sunday

  41. Oxycondomns Says:

glazers going to get rid of bowles the fan base needs someone to get excited about. the stadium has been lifeless

  42. Rash Says:

Bobby m. …JPP IN.your building ? in South (sissy boys) Tampa
? You wonder why people make fun of South Tampon Bay. Go put on your loafers no socks. And let your husband order your wine and dinner….

  43. Vanessa Anne Says:

    @Tony

    @Buccaneer Bonzai

Tony, I agree w/you on YaYa. I think we’re up to 33 total on the season. That would be a lot closer to 40 if YaYa wasn’t dropping back so much.

Buccaneer Bozai, true. I agree. The difference is BA was the head coach. I’ve often wondered how much of Shaq and JPP was BA telling Todd Bowles outright that he wanted a relentless pass rush, and how much of it was the way Todd was scheming at the time. To be fair, we haven’t had anyone like JPP or Shaq for a few years and that may be part of it. Yes, JPP only has a couple of sacks to go to hit that record. With 3 games left, I’d love to see him do it.

  44. Tony Says:

    @Vanessa Anne

Yeah I think alot of the reason the D looks the way it looks is because of the scheme/system. If they just get someone else in there to run the D then maybe they won’t look as bad. Sure they’re not perfect & players make mistakes every now & then but if someone else just comes in & takes over the D then they could very easily look much better. It’s not like the team doesn’t have the talent on it because it does.

  45. Cybersecurity_intern Says:

Its not the players is the coach.

  46. Cybersecurity_intern Says:

Rash you seems to know too much about loafers and husbands?

  47. adam from ny Says:

if anyone saw that defensive player with the big hit on jordan love just now……….

    well…

the bucs need to take a few good shots at lil bryce young on sunday…some good old school football…let the lil fellah know the bucs d-line is in town to ball out…

take the penalties, and hopefully the team eats any big hit fines…

now let’s play some good old fashioned hard nose football on sunday

  48. BigMacAttack Says:

I’m a Jason Licht fan, but he needs to fire every scout involved with finding D linemen in the draft. We could go further and say all but 1 or 1.5 scouts. Warren Brinson #91 DT Packers, on TV now, 6-5 320ish GA Bulldogs 6’th round pick. He made it into lineup due to injuries this season. He’s a beast and bull strong. Why can’t the Bucs ever find these guys, players with bull strength, determination and aggression??? Oh I forgot, he isn’t deemed “ A Baird Man”. We keep drafting boy scouts on defense, they get spit on or touched and miss 4 games. The stub their toe in the weight room and miss 6 games. Anything more, constipation, ingrown hair or hang nail and they’re going on IR. So we do ok drafting offense, totally suc drafting defense and is there a team with a lousier special teams squad than the Bucs? I still trust Licht but it’s time to put down the beer, stop being everyone’s best friend and start chopping heads. Is it complacency or what. I sure hope they wake up tomorrow in Carolina. It doesn’t matter where you pick n the draft. It’s knowing what to look for and identity future stars because they’re all over sprinkled in. The Bucs have lost this ability. Maybe they need an A I program todo it. It can’t get any worse.

  49. adam from ny Says:

sapp would have pulled his legs apart like a chicken wishbone…

    thus the wishbone offense……sapp style

  50. Aqualung Says:

JPP needs to call the damn defense instead of Tood the Boob.

  51. Oxycondomns Says:

@bigmac-fire every scout involved with finding dlineman in the draft? im sure bowles is heavily involved in that process as well

  52. David Says:

    Reeks of desperation but……..
The Eagles just brought Brandon Graham out of retirement and he has 3 sacks in 2 games.
If JPP can get three over the next three games I will be ecstatic. That said, I’m not counting on anything.

  53. BUCDADDY Says:

Someone’s gotta light a fire under this defenses a**! Hopefully JPP can be that guy, whether it’s on the field, or on the sidelines. I mean, our defense can only get better, not worse, right?

  54. HC Grover Says:

    Sic him on that Shrimp

  55. adam from ny Says:

jpp was brought in here to run thru young…and administer purple nurples to the lazy slothie teammates, as he roams the locker room like a sapp

  56. adam from ny Says:

    LOL.

Brings back memories of JBF and his “full delousing” references. Classic stuff.

  58. BigMacAttack Says:

Hopefully the Bucs just watched the Bears come back and take it from the Packers. The way the hits were going in this game the Bucs would lose half of their players. The Bucs are soft, a reflection of Bowles and yes he needs to find a new line of work or retire.

  59. Buc1987 Says:

    The savior is here!

    Just kidding.

  60. Jugheadfla2 Says:

Look what a new, competent coach can do for a team. Johnson, Vrabel, Cohn (should be here)

Instead we’re stuck with the master of mediocrity…..why in the hell did Licht attach his wagon to irritable Bowel syndrome?

  61. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Big Mac

It’s Bud Licht that needs to be the first one out the door. Followed closely by Bowles and his sorry band of coaches.

  62. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Jughead

Because it was BAs call. Which is a huge statement on the lack of need to have Bud Licht here. He’s just a poser.

    We need a legitimate GM.

  63. Capt ahab Says:

I’m in favor of giving the aging JPP a shot, he certainly can not do any worse they what the Bucs have as an edge rusher.

  64. BPBucsfan Says:

@Bobby- JPP has a better chance to shock the world than Chris Braswell.

  65. Buc1987 Says:

    Southern BucLife…you’re NOT funny!

  66. Aqualung Says:

Can’t wait to watch him drop into coverage. Another pass rusher who won’t be used to rush the passer. His Geniusnessness, versatility and all. Chase will be rushing the passer and JPP will kick.

  67. heyjude Says:

Maybe JPP is Bowles right hand person now helping with defense. And maybe he comes in and does really well. Either way, this confuses Canales if they have been betting on JPP not going in. I like it and hope JPP takes care of business out there.
