Todd Bowles: Get Ready Sunday To Watch The Real Benjamin Morrison

December 20th, 2025

Finally healthy?

Benjamin Morrison was damaged when he first set foot in Tampa as the Bucs’ second-round draft pick in April. And to hear Bucs coach Todd Bowles, Benjamin has been hurt ever since but is now, finally, a healthy man.

Bowles spoke after practice yesterday and said he will rotate Jacob Parrish and Morrison at the boundary corner position vacated by Zyon McCollum, who was placed on injured reserve this week.

Will the real Benjamin Morrison please stand up?

“I think he’s finally healthy, so you’ll probably see the real Benjamin Morrison that we drafted,” Bowles said. “He had a couple weeks to take in some things mentally and get physically right, so he’s probably in the best place he’s been in this year.”

Morrison had offseason hip surgery that aborted his senior season at Notre Dame. Morrison wasn’t cleared to practice in underwear football when he first got to the Bucs. He was ready to go in training camp. But it wasn’t long before he suffered a hamstring injury that sidelined him about a month.

Apparently, Morrison had trouble getting past that hamstring. Every couple of weeks he’d go down and miss time, practices and games.

Morrison has played in seven games this season and against the slimy Saints in October, rotating with Jamel Dean, Morrison looked like he was about to turn the corner.

Then came New England and it was back to reality for the rookie from Notre Dame. Morrison hasn’t played since the loss to Buffalo back in the middle of November.

“I think we’ll see the best when we see [him],” Bowles said.

Prove it rookie! But won’t really help if our front four can’t get to the QB. Tykee being back is huge!

  2. Viktor Vaughn Says:

Just like we were supposed to get ready for the real Braswell……Not buying the wolf tickets this week.

  3. FrontFour Says:

    I’m with ya Voktor….

  4. Defense Rules Says:

Seems like kind of an admission that Morrison was allowed to play hurt. In what universe was that gonna work out well for Morrison or the Bucs?

  5. Bucman Says:

His play thus far reminds me of Johnny Holt.

  6. DBS Says:

As long as Bowles plays cover zero it won’t matter. The middle will be wide open . Teams know who to target and where to throw and how to run.
Bowles needs to go at the end of the season. It doesn’t matter how they finish. It won’t be a SB to or anything close.

  7. Baking with the next one Says:

DR that’s the confidence they have on Vildur #22 the backup cb.

  8. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Is this the same type of prediction Jason Licht made with us seeing the real Chris Braswell this year?

  9. Baking with the next one Says:

Don’t worry folks. We are Panther READY!!!!

  10. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Heard this yesterday and all I could think was “ooooh brother” because if this is the “real” Benjamin Morrison, then why were we forcing the fugazi one onto the field of play earlier this season? Seriously.

  11. FootBall1 Says:

We can hope Joe right. WE can hope and with this D hope is about all that is left. I don’t know if I will ever get over 3rd and 28. Well if Young Lights us up on the first drive and or the last drive, which has become the norm with this Bucs D we will know. Even if he covers a couple passes that will be improvement.

  12. Chuckys Bucs Says:

He had a rough go start but I’m pulling for him. McCollum has got to go, can’t get much worse than that.

  13. Marine Buc Says:

    Put up or shut up.

So far the kid looks like a bust…

  14. Scott Says:

Get ready for multiple blown coverages… jk let’s hope not

  15. SB~LV Says:

    🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱

  16. Ballwasher61 Says:

I think they tried to play him too soon, it takes time to fully heal, especially if you pull a hammie. I think that pull and his hip kinda go hand in hand.

  17. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

I remember another Bucs CB that had a rough rookie year. I think his name was Randy….Ronald….something like that.

  18. Chuckys Bucs Says:

Drunk Bucs I hope it’s not Ronde!? Greatest buc of all time

  19. Jmarkbuc Says:

Viktor took the words right out of my mouth.

Sounds like another Brasswell, Reddick kiss of death to me.

The Ghost of Rod Jones past….

  20. Guzzie55 Says:

Just got to coach better and play better easy

  21. Tackleblockwin Says:

I’m of the opinion that once we can rush well with 4, we magically will see a little improvement on the back end. I’m also of the opinion that fixing our pass rush with 4 won’t happen this season. One thing that will never change in this game is the high importance of the players you have at the line of scrimmage. A strong Defensive line and offensive line should be a priority for any team wanting to win ballgames consistently.

  22. NCbucfan Says:

Drunk Bucs, Vernon Hargreaves Drunk Bucs, EJ Biggers had a pretty bad rookie season. He was a 7th rdRick however.

  23. NCbucfan Says:

And who can forget Jonathan Banks, still can’t believe he was a 2nd rd pick, he was like a 4’6 speed giy

  24. jimmy Says:

todd said the same thing a few weeks ago. also made excuses for morrisons mental condition. believe it when i see it.

  25. Weebs10 Says:

I’m not worried about Morrison yet. WHEN IS BRASWELL GONNA SHOW UP!?

  26. Beeej Says:

I still remember Rod “Toast” Jones. We dumped him after 2nd or 3rd season. Dude went on to have a nice career with the Bengals

  27. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

Here we are – drafted an injured CB in the 2nd round to support/replace our often injured CB. How about drafting a DE to help the most critical position on D – and the one with the most pressing need? 1000% on you Licht.

  28. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

Still – hoping for the best and that he becomes a critical piece to our long term success.

  29. Tony Says:

    @Marine Buc

I would’ve passed on him from the beginning.

  30. Tony Says:

    @Marine Buc

I would’ve drafted a DE there instead since they decided to take Egbuka 1st round instead.

  31. Hodad Says:

Hope he can finish the game I think?

  32. Fanofdabucs Says:

More clueless, reactionary chatter from the bozos in here. Morrison is a very talented CB who was coming off hip surgery. Rookie CBs typically struggle in the NFL and take year to develop. Im not saying he will be great, but the idiots criziting him are clueless. Not nearly enough games to develop stromg opinions.

  33. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Ronde is exactly who I was talking about. Bandwagoners or short term memory people don’t know.

This group would have been throwing the bust label on him in a heartbeat.

  34. Show Me the TDs Says:

    Fanofdabucs, agree 100%.

  35. Marine Buc Says:

    @ fanofdabucs

Notice I used the words – “So far”…

What do those two words mean to you?

Here is another for you – “So far” Calijah Kancey seems like a bust because he can’t stay healthy.

    See what I did there?

    “So far”…

    LOL!

  36. Badbucs Says:

I’m sure he can play 15 yds off the player and run up to miss the tackle like he was coached.

  37. Tony Says:

    @Marine Buc

I think if they move Kancey to DE that might solve some of the problem. If they just get him to lose like 10 or 15 lbs. & then move him to DE he might be more suited there. Then have him with Yaya & then have Roberts with Vita.

Do you mean “literally” cover zero or is that your cute nickname for ineffective defense against the pass like “Swiss cheese” defense ? I suspect the latter but feel free to let us know if you actually know press-man from a hole in the ground 🤔
