Maxx Crosby Talks Todd Bowles Blowup

Yesterday, Joe asked Todd Bowles if he’s had any fun in the past week looking back on his profanity-laced postgame rant that went viral and will live on, Joe suspects, for decades.
Did players needle him? Did he get any fun texts?
Bowles, sporting a smile, said nothing like that was happening. He was just being a football coach who lost a tough game. Bowles said, it happens to all his peers. You move on fast and that’s the situation, he added.
Well, Bowles may have moved on but the NFL world is still talking about it.
On Monday, during the Let’s Go! podcast that airs on SiriuxXM NFL Radio and SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio, as well as on most podcast channels, co-host Jim Gray asked his co-host, Raiders star edge rusher Maxx Crosby, about the Bowles outburst.
Gray noted how it was so out of character for Bowles.
“He MF’d his team and he did it about six times, all in about 20 seconds. When a guy like that goes off, what does it say to you, Maxxx?” Gray asked.
Joe was somewhat surprised Crosby gave a detailed answer.
“Yeah, you know, especially a guy like Todd Bowles, like you said,” Crosby said. “I think he’s one of the most respected defensive minds in football and definitely one of the more respected coaches. And you know, clearly [the Bucs] got some stuff going on. And I think he was trying to, you know, call his team out but also challenge them because at this point in the year, every single game matters and they’ve let a couple of ’em slip away.
“They know what they have over there in Tampa; they have a really good team. They got competitors across the board. They got some future Hall of Famers, and their standard is, ‘we make it to the playoffs and we win. … And we’re gonna be a team of contention.’ And they’ve just, we haven’t seen this in the last few years from them, but they’ve been losing a lot of close games and kind of letting [leads] slip away.
“So I think, you know, he let his frustration out for sure, but everyone’s gonna have those moments, especially if you’re competitive and you want to win. And I think he was just addressing his team. I think it’s gonna be a good thing for them because they know Todd Bowles. It takes a lot for him to start (laughs) to get to that point. So I think the team is gonna be like, okay, he is not fu*k’n around any means business. So I think it’s ultimately gonna be a good thing for them, and I think they will win that division.”
Crosby agreed with Gray that Bowles’ rant will be a defining moment for him, like it was for Denny Green, Jim Mora, Herm Edwards and Allen Iverson.
But will it be a moment that ingnited something positive? Crosby thinks so. He believes the Bucs will respond and win the NFC South.
As for Bowles, well, he knows exactly how those moments live forever. In fact, Bowles once took to the media to impersonate his coaching brethren who made those famous rants. The video is below.

It literally is not too late for Bowles nor is it over for this team this season. The team has a chance to win the NFC south and get a playoff game at home. The team cannot let this season go without at least one last great hurrah for victory. If they do the team will be exploded and change gon’ come for sure

Maxx has been playing for the Raiders is whole career. 109 games played in, 45 wins since 2019 w/1 postseason game. Our grass looks greener to him, and that’s why we need to bust that move and bring him on in

Maxx, it sucks for him being as good as he is and stuck on a bad team. Brady as part owner so far has made no difference.

Thanks, guys, for straightening me out on Maxx. After reading Joe’s article, I thought Maxx was someone who knew football and the NFL. someone whose opinions I should seriously consider. But now I see he has been duped like the rest of us who enjoy finishing first in whatever division we’re in. In fact, he sounded like he’d like to play here. Or maybe just where Todd is coaching whenever y’all get rid of him.

These F bombs should have been dropped weeks ahgo which is another reason ppl are complaining. He alliws too much rope with complacency. He should have dropped those MFing F bombs during the Pats loss when they got shredded on the ground, clearly some busts on the oitside coverage by LBs and safeties.

All of these in-season lulls, meltdowns, collapses, or whatever you choose to call them, are NOT a fluke. Almost EVERY coach will have them throughout a long career due to a multitude of reasons. But with BOWLES though, it is now a TREND. A GIVEN. It has happened during EVERY season in which HE has been here, as Head Coach. In THE historically ‘weakest’ division in NFL history. It is who the Bucs are right now, and has been for some time… A poorly coached football team. I want a head coach who doesn’t need “specialists” for the most basic spit that ANYONE who has ever watched FOOTBALL, or played Maddon and NCAA before. A Head Football Coach with an actual “feel” for the game.

This defense isn’t going to now just see the light. The scheme and 85% of defenders are just bad. It is discouraging to see receivers wide open in the middle of these zones. Looks like flag football. Bucs will put plenty of points on the board but defense will see to it that Panthers get one point more.

@ Mobucs – He’s never going to say anything bad about an another team’s head coach to begin with. But, especially one, he has probably never had any type of relationship with or connection to. And more than likely, has never even spoken with. As a ‘current player’ on an opposing team, HE most definitely, will not be ‘tuned-in’ to every single little thing having to do with the fricking BUCS. Why the hell would HE!? And, why would you expect for him to!? I’m sure he’s out at the casinos playing poker and sheet, every chance HE GETS hahah… I mean, why else would he be soooo determined to remain in VEGAS, and always refuses being traded anyplace else!? He doesn’t give a DAMN about the Bucs, whatsoever. Never enters his mind. That was nothing but a bunch of ‘empty’ vague, politically-correct speak, concerning another franchise and their head coach. He’s not going to say anything there. At least, not anything meaningful. No way. First of all, because he seriously, could not care any less. 💯 GUARANTEED. The most important thing I took out of Crosby speaking about Bowels from a player standpoint, is the tone of his voice and viewpoint of the staff/roster. He would definitely come here if he had the opportunity.

There is no way that you can say that, “Knoxville Buc.” Unless, you’re getting a “tone” just from being stuck inside of an adult Bucs Fantasyland. Because, he has continued to immediately shutdown ANY and ALL potential trade talks. I mean, has flat-out REFUSED even the discussion of such. So, that is pretty miraculous then, if that was what YOU got from his statement. His statement saying absolutely nothing, by the way. It’s amazing how people just hear what THEY WANT to hear. Guess, that explains how so many people can continue ‘believing’ every single thing they’re being TOLD by mainstream legacy media, & etc. EVEN, when knowing they have been continuously LIED TO (and being made to look like a complete, total fool), over and over & again and again. If we’re keeping Bowles somehow, I’d give up two first rounders for him to be on this team next year. Maybe we could get a 2nd rounder back but we need a player like him and not just because he’s an edge rusher.

For his jobs sake, that and some better schemes have to work because as far as I’m concerned. They need to get on a run and the defense needs to play well from here to the NFC championship game or he’s fired.
I am very curious to see who are the 1-2 guys on defense that aren’t quite holding up their end of the bargain. It’ll be interesting to see who is gone.
Personally, I think it is Reddick and Dennis. Hopefully it’s not Zyon and it’s just a down year.
Not sure who else it could be.

Nothing will change, because nothing can change. This is the roster they chose and Bowles is unable to get away from what he always calls.
Any team that doesn’t light up his defense right now is just too vain to adjust away from what they usually do to follow the blueprint for beating Todd Bowles.
If this team wins in the next three weeks it will be in spite of Bowles, not because of him. The offense will have to carry the entire load for the defensive mastermind head coach.
Bowles has a defensive scheme thats good enough to beat good teams if he has a roster full of borderline HOFers and the opposing team has two nobodies playing at the offensive tackle positions.
