Mike Evans And Jalen McMillan Will Not Play Sunday

December 5th, 2025

Not yet.

It’ll be at least one more week for the return of receivers Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan.

Both returned to practice this week after long absences due to injury. Evans (broken clavicle) and McMillan (broken neck bones) looked impressive in practice, Bowles said, but their readiness process is ongoing. Each had been ruled out for Sunday, per Bowles.

The Bucs play again Thursday night at home against Atlanta.

Tristan Wirfs (oblique) was on the practice field today and is listed as questionable. Yes, the Bucs will need him against a feisty Saints defense that can rush the passer reasonably well.

If we lose to the Saints, give everyone the rest of the year off!

  2. Vegasbuc Says:

    Fire Todd

  3. BA’s Red Pen Says:

    F the aint’s

  4. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Makes more sense to give them more time, and have them ready for the Falcons on a quick turnaround. Smart move if the logic were to not have both come back from injury and play both games in 4 days.

  5. johnnythemoon Says:

    Rest them all till 2027

  6. Godlovesbucs Says:

It would have been wise to have mcmillan to dress and get 5-10 snaps.

By now, I would expect the only issue with him is mental (just broke your neck) and conditioning. Getting a few snaps to knock off the rust before Atlanta and then the final 3 important games would be nice. I would expect mike to be ready right away when he is back.

    smart move bowles….

if Grizz cant score 28+ pts vs the saints with Tom Moore holding his hand, healthy o-line, RW1,CG14, Bucky and Tucker he needs to go asap!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  8. Simeon4HOF Says:

Np. Saints are slimy and play dirty anyway
    Now go sign JPP

  9. Obvious One Says:

I doubt anybody is surprised about that. Now if they don’t play next week….

  10. Greg Says:

    Fire Bowles! He’s the problem.

  11. Bradinator Says:

Good! Let them ease back in. If we can’t beat this Saints team without them, we have NO business talking playoffs anyway. We will NEED them if we make the playoffs, since we will need to score 40 points a game to have a chance.

  12. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Until I see McMillan take some hits and get up without a problem several games in a row will I change my mind that he should seriously consider retiring.

  13. Obvious One Says:

    @Simeon

You know I like that idea.

Not so much that he rushes the passer (he’s pretty old now but I bet he could still cause some havic)… More so that he can help to install A SPINE! Perhaps a man who’s ACTUALLY been THERE and done THAT. A teacher that HAS Demonstrated that HE takes NO SH!T from anybody! And EXACTLY HOW you administer PAIN to the likes of say the Aint’s or ANY poor SOB that had the bad luck of lining up on the opposite side of him… Perhaps he CAN LIGHT A FIRE IN THESE “BOYS” SO THAT THEY CAN LEARN HOW TO PLAY BALL LIKE “MEN”!!!!

  14. 941bucsfan Says:

Some bucs fans know whats coming.. an undefeated december… and sad thing about it, they hate it, only because they hate bowles… cant hate on a guy thats 8-2 in december and january the past 2 years

  15. Lt. Dan Says:

Probably for the best. Sit ’em.

  16. heyjude Says:

    Great decision.

  17. pelbuc Says:

What Rover Says. This team is soft in so many ways.

  18. GP Says:

Considering the absolute hatred the aint’s organization and their fanbase has for Evans, I’d say this is a good call. I wouldn’t put it past them to call an injury to Evans a better outcome than winning the game for them.
I kinda view an aint’s game as similar to entering a dark alley in nawlins that already has a long history of homicide.
Keep your heads on swivels, the aint’s are dangerous spoilers!

  19. DirtyDan Says:

If the team, mainly the O, can put up over 24 points but lose. Then we need to seriously look at different options at HC/DC.

  20. infomeplease Says:

Who ever takes the field needs to bring their A game for 60 minutes! Get it done!!

Ditto. This is the only correct post to every article until it happens.

  22. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Of course not. Just because they are practicing that doesn’t mean they’re ready to play.

  23. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Great to hold each of them out this week. I expect we’ll see both on Thursday night, but maybe not.

  24. Simeon4HOF Says:

    Obvious One

Exactly, spoken sort of like Rice would say it too, very well said.
JPP has been working out all season is ready and would pick up some Sacks and energize are Edge with his presence alone.
All I want 3 Christmas is for Licht to sign JPP lol

  25. Simeon4HOF Says:

Our Bucs are just our Defense getting lit away from the SB

  26. Simeon4HOF Says:

Do it 4 Tampa Jason, give him a workout atleast. We need sacks and Edge Leadership
    Reddick ain’t been it

    Do it 4 Tampa Jason

Bwahahaha, you’re barking up the wrong tree, Jason does nothing unless a coach nudges him in the right direction. So scream into the void, Todd Bowles, it may improve your odds

  28. GP Says:

There’s not a team in the league that dislikes Evans more than the saints and their fanbase.
If they lose the game but injure Mike, they’d call that a win.
Especially playing from the spoiler position that they are in.

Watch out for those cheap shots!

  29. GP Says:

So I’m not in the least bit upset about him not playing.

  30. Stpetematt Says:

Too bad for Evans. I was hoping he’d take a shot at 2-300 yards in this game which would make 1K possible. Oh well…

  31. Obvious One Says:

    @Simeon

It Sure Couldn’t Hurt a thing… And really he just may get a few sacks. More importantly, he’d be a Handful and open up opportunities for the rest of the guys. Especially “Body Slamming” techniques! Njk… Because SOMEONE, He!! ANYBODY whom Actually KNOWS HOW to play the position (OBVIOUSLY NOT Todd Bowles), needs to Support, Teach, and ENCOURAGE these men to Greatness, instead of pushing them to feel like Less Than a man!

“Laughed At” by EVERY OC in the WHOLE of Pro Football! It’s a DISGRACE what Bowles has done the CRITICAL DE department of men that are Now SCREWED UP in the head BADLY, compliments of Todd Bowles!

You’d think….. as a Genius….. that Bozo would realize WHY a Defensive End is drafted ONLY second to STAR QB’s…! I wonder WHY the rest of the WORLD sees and UNDERSTANDS what their PRIMARY FUNCTION IS….. Yet he Refuses!

I’m quite TIRED of “BIZZARO World’s Dog and Pony show featuring Bozo the Clown as the Ring Master”

Todd Bowles MUST provide a New Plan of attack! He IS Exposed and they see him and his OBSCURE game plan coming from MILES AWAY! Why is he SO VERY STUCK IN THE MUD? He’s a smart guy right???? Where is the CREATIVITY Todd Bowles? Are you Really this Boring, Dull, and Drab?

  32. George R Says:

They both play against the Falcons and get the rust knocked off and should be ready for the Falcons.

  33. FortMyersDave Says:

If Bucs put Evans out on the field on Sunday, it would almost be guaranteed that a Saint player would try to take him out. In fact I can see them trying knock Baker out of the game. Hopefully that does not happen. Bucs should win but whenever Todd Bowles and his D are involved, no lead is safe as his schemes allow teams to move the chains and rack up the yardage as it has no pass rush and Todd’s secondary with the exception of Dean, Parrish, LVD (all heart but the body is finally wearing out) and Tykee Smith is essentially garbage with guys who have no talent or have gotten soft since they have gotten paid. One player that could have helped the D is Kancey but I have to label him as a bust since he is a first round pick that has contributed nothing. Every year he is injured, so if he is not making plays you’d expect from a day one draft pick, he is a bust. That pick is on Jason as we cannot blame Bowles for a guy being horrible if he is never on the field in the first place.
