Todd Bowles Updates Baker Mayfield’s Condition

November 24th, 2025

Status.

As you likely already saw, Joe’s photographer on the scene in Los Angeles had one of the first pictures of Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield with his left arm in a sling.

Thank goodness it isn’t his right arm.

Bucs coach Todd Bowles gave an update in his postgame remarks about Mayfield’s condition.

“Right now he has a shoulder sprain,” Bowles said. “He’ll get an MRI [Monday].”

Mayfield initially had to go to the peep show medical tent after throwing a touchdown pass to Tez Johnson (who held onto the ball a lot better than Cade Otton).

Mayfield ran for two first downs on the drive and he took shots on those runs. It didn’t appear Mayfield injured his shoulder on the touchdown pass. He emerged from the medical tent looking fired up and ready to sling it.

After Bucs coach Todd Bowles panicked and went for a fourth-down conversion from the Bucs-28 with less than two minutes left in the half, it appeared Bowles was waving the white flag — yet he kept a banged-up Mayfield in the game. On the final play of the half, Mayfield rolled to his left to avoid pressure and heaved a desperation throw. As he did, he landed on his left shoulder and that is what appeared to do him in.

He lay on the turf for quite a while.

The next Bucs fans saw of Mayfield, he was wearing a sling around his left arm.
