Calm, Confident Bucs’ Postgame Locker Room

November 16th, 2025

Joe cruised through the Tampa Bay postgame locker room this afternoon in Buffalo and found very little concern with how the team has lost three of its last four games.

Don’t get confused; there was no celebration vibe in the locker room, but it sure didn’t feel like a crushing loss was being endured by players. Players were pretty loose and matter-of-fact.

Joe already shared that Lavonte David insists the team hasn’t hit the midseason “lull” he was worried might happen, as it has in past years.

Co-captain Antoine Winfield, Jr. isn’t concerned.

“Definitely happy without how we came out fast and physical. We just got to make sure we carry that through the entire game,” Winfield said of the Bucs’ defensive play today.

Asked if he feels like the Bucs are in a swoon like they’ve been in past Octobers and Novembers, Winfield didn’t think that’s a thing. “Not necessarily. That’s just the ebbs and flows of how the season goes,” he said.

Graham Barton acknowledged the losing but thinks the Bucs are on the right track.

“We’re kind of on a skid right now. We’ve got to execute better in situations, but I don’t think we’re in a lull by any means,” Barton said. “I thought we were doing some good things.

“The mindset’s there. The intent is there. Like I was really proud of the way we came out today. We just didn’t get it done. You know, hopefully we’ll continue to get healthy and get some guys back, and just continue to push this thing and finish out strong.”

Safety Tykee Smith, who is having a heck of a season, was the most down guy Joe talked to about today’s loss.

“Same feeling [as last year],” Smith said of the Bucs’ miseason losses. “We just got to get back to the drawing board and try to get things turned around.”

Joe talked to Tristan Wirfs privately without recording the conversation. Overall, Wirfs feels like his team has a strong attitude and effort and simply lost to a very good team today. He noted the Bucs lost to lesser teams when they had midseason swoons in past years.

Baker Mayfield was very chill versus his postgame ranting of a week ago.

“I think the fight was there. The toughness, the fight was there,” Mayfield said. “It just came down to not making enough plays. And so, that’s one of those things, come out of this game really disappointed because guys fought hard, thought there were great plays within the game, throughout the game.”

Todd Bowles praised his team’s grit and waved off any suggestion the Bucs are repeating a pattern of past seasons.

“I think we’re in a good place mentally. We don’t go by the last couple of years,” Bowles said. “Every year’s a new year for us. We’re in a good place mentally. Our fight is oustanding. Our execution just needs to be cleaned up from that standpoint.”

Joe sure hopes the Bucs have a great feel for the state of the team.

It’s all about the lack of threat in the passing game!

  2. VOT Says:

The lack of discord for the disgusting display from the D and ST speaks volumes

This team has the mentality of its coach, unfortunately one that embraces ineptitude on a grand scale

  3. buc4evr Says:

Excuses are for losers. More excuses.

  4. Merryplanker777 Says:

Serving forty burger with cheese. Shouldn’t feel too confident.
Would a losing season and new coach be better than one and done in wild card?

  5. ElioT Says:

    Wow, great leadership by Winfield.

No big deal, Bills are good, AFC team, 6-4 is fine – right?

That’s why he won’t have a gold jacket.

  6. BPBucsfan Says:

What are they going to say after the curb stomping they receive next week?

  7. Rod Munch Says:

I know the dummies celebrating winning the ESPN power poll and chanting Baker MVP in week 6 are shocked, demanding that everyone is fired and we do a midseason rebuild using currently available FA … but one look at the schedule told you the team was always going to be 6-5 after 11 games. Then the schedules let up dramatically, in theory Bucky is back, maybe Godwin, then after that perhaps Evans, and even Kancey if we’re super lucky. If Baker is hot, we’re fine going into the playoffs.

But things aren’t getting better next week – that’s always the game where the Bucs look like complete trash in prime time and get blown out – and that isn’t changing this year.

    Wow, great leadership by Winfield.

    ——

Yeah what he should do is start crying and saying all is lost, why even bother to show up. That’s how he should respond.

  9. BPBucsfan Says:

6-5 after next week, heck probably lose both to Carolina, Bruce Young 448 yds passing today.

  10. BPBucsfan Says:

    Bryce Young

  11. Daniel Z Says:

Yeah, and maybe that attitude is the problem. These guys should be pissed that they’ve blown two winnable games and do not look like a serious contender right now.

  12. BigZ Says:

They lost all 3 phases of the game. They clearly have no sense of urgency.
Bucs coaches and gm are too loyal. Early big contracts given and we’re not getting the same ROI.
Sometimes a coach or coaches message lose there affect.

  13. HeartyDickerson Says:

These quotes are a perfect snapshot of what’s wrong with this team. They get smoked and the reaction from players and HC is…

    “Our fight is outstanding”

“Really proud of the way we came out today”

    “Definitely happy”

Clearly a standard has been set for the Bucs, and that standard is very low. What a bunch of losers.

  14. JustOneGame Says:

Anyone ask Bowles why he would risk injuries to players by calling timeouts making them play more downs than necessary just to have the back up qb take a knee? This alone shows you his incompetence

  15. SB~LV Says:

Just heard the announcer say that Patrick Mahomes has never missed playing in a
    AFC Championship game.. wow

  16. Bucsfan951 Says:

Did you expect anything different? This is what happens when you have a passive head coach.

Real question is, where is the 75-80% of people that were totally confident/confident in Todd a few weeks back?

  17. Upstate NY Buc Fan Says:

I had buffalo fans patting me on the back with sympathy on how bad our defense and special teams were!!!serious I knew I should’ve never went to that game. Ridiculous. I just got home and I’m watching it on TV thank God you didn’t see it live wow disgusting.

    _________

No, but showing up, making plays, leading the defense and broadcasting hatred for losing would be nice.

But go ahead and put some lipstick on this pig.

  19. unbelievable Says:

Calmly and confidently give up over 220 yards on kick returns.

Calmly and confidently give up multiple 40+ yard touchdowns multiple weeks in a row.

Calmly and confidently playing mediocre football, and proud of it.

This team has pathetically low standards

  20. Darin Says:

Out coached again. LA probably out coaches them as well considering McVay always does. Might be staring at second place next week

  21. Bucs4ever Says:

Lack of urgency…I’ve seen this before with Todd’s teams

  22. SB~LV Says:

It’s ALL about talent vs talent
Folks the crew that has been cobbled together on offense is simply not better than the opponents.
It’s getting easier by the game on how to shut down the Bucs passing game and when you knock out one leg you are DOOMED!

  23. unbelievable Says:

Oh and now we’re going to play the Rams coming off a big loss… just like the Bills and Lions.

LOL @ anyone delusional enough to think Bucs have a chance on Sunday.

But hey let’s celebrate maybe being some loser teams afterwards and then getting bounced in the WC round! Standard of excellence, achieved.

  24. unbelievable Says:

Oh man he missed! Rams hang on.

  25. unbelievable Says:

@SB – they scored 32 points. (34 points if our coaches weren’t idiots).

The problem is the defense and special teams. Which has been the problem all season long outside of 1 game against the lowly Saints.

  26. Football 1 Says:

Hi Joe, well this Loss was well predicted and no surprises today. When a team is not concerned and thinking they played ok after the clubbing they took today, pretty much tells you why the mentality is not there. Maybe they are in denial or they simply are not hungry anymore.Maybe they are in denial. Whatever it is they are definitely giving all of us a better picture. I had to read the article twice to believe it. Winfield likes the way they came out fast!!. Wow!!! Ok then. It appears Smith was the only one bothered. Well you definitely see his attitude on the field and now we see the Bucs attitude in the locker room matches their effort on the field.
Well next week is likely to result in a similar beat down.
I now think Car may win this division. They are playing hungry the Bucs meanwhile are content after a loss. Well this article explains it all to me now.
Yes I think this is the season that could have been an is now lost.I am curious to see how content they are next week.

  27. Davenport Says:

I have been saying the same thing for 3+ years: this team is going nowhere with Bowles as HC.

We’ve wasted 4 years with this guy and cannot afford another one. Move on, already!

  28. Whatevs Says:

Anyone ready to add Morrison to the list of 2nd round draft busts?

  29. eoschwartz Says:

The point isn’t how the players spoke after the game is how they have played since they were 5-2 with a #1 seed on the line!

If they watch their own tape you will see all of the confusion and chaos on the defense the whole game. Is playing good letting a team go 4 plays for 95 yards before halftime and scoring a touchdown with 36 seconds left before halftime which was same thing they did vs New England right before halftime.

What kind of effort is that?

What about getting first and goal from the 5 and settling for 3?

If they thing they are putting 100% effort and hustle than my eyes are deceiving me as I see players in position and to make tackles or push pass catchers out of bounds as they run past them as the guy runs for a 50-60 yard touchdown.

How many plays did they give up over50 yards last 2 games for a TD? Is that improvement or is it ineptitude?

  30. Whatevs Says:

    Kyle Trask
    Chris Braswell
    Logan Hall
    Morrison

I would say missing on more than half your 2nd rounders does not make you a draft guru

  31. BigZ Says:

    Thats funny, Whatevs.

  32. unbelievable Says:

Morrison is a rookie, way too early to write him off.

The much bigger problem is having Yaya Diaby and Anthony Nelson covering wide receivers 20 30 40 yards down field on touchdown plays.

And then waving your white flag by punting on 4th down when your defense has already proven it sucks.

  33. ElioT Says:

How many more ret*^ds are going to try to call out the offense for today’s loss?

This was ALL on the defense and special teams.

    Holy crap

  34. Bucschamp Says:

    midseason lulz

  35. BigZ Says:

Add MJ Stewart, Arguyo, Ronald Jones, and Justin Evans to those 2nd round gems by JL.

  36. ElioT Says:

People need to quit lichting Jason’s sack.

He’s had maybe as many misses in the draft as he’s had wins.

  37. Bosch Says:

Like Dickerson said. Low low low expectations. I’d not for the turnovers and the short fields, the Bills would have rolled up 600 yards. I defy anyone to point out a defense worse tha the Bucs over the last two games. But we got this. We just lost to a good team, that’s all.

Our defensive leaders embarrassed themselves with those comments. Chumps, not champions! No wonder this is such a poor defense.

  38. BigZ Says:

    Oh, I forgot Noah Spence.

  39. ElioT Says:

    Vernon Hargreaves
    OJ Howard

  40. eoschwartz Says:

Jacob Parish and Tykee Smith are miles above Winfield. He be mad the highest paid safety and is damaged goods now. Licht was a fool to throw it dollars for a safety. The team is failing since the win over the 49ers

  41. ElioT Says:

    JTS

  42. BigZ Says:

And his best pick for last, ASJ.

  43. Kenton Smith Says:

We don’t have the dawgs to beat anybody it looks like. Joe says Tykee was the only one he talked to that seemed down. I’m thinking this defense keeps Tykee Smith and Robert Parrish and gets rid of everyone else. I think we could put 9 rookies with those 2 and our defense would be better. Gave up the most points in the NFL today and they’ve got grins on their faces. No thanks. Where are the backups?

  44. ElioT Says:

    Carlton Davis
    Jamel “I’m hurt again” Dean

  45. BigZ Says:

Hes sucked on 9 of his 2nd rounders.

  46. ElioT Says:

Smith and Parrish are the only dawgs.

  47. Rod Munch Says:

The idiots complaining about Morrison are the morons who think he blew the coverage on the deep touchdown, because they’re too dumb to know what they’re watching.

Morrison is a rookie who missed all of training camp and preseason and played 11 snaps last week. He’ll be fine, but he’s going to struggle just like Dean, SMB and Davis did early when playing for Bowles.

  48. Jmarkbuc Says:

They’re happy, content that they’re doing good things, all love each other.

Blah blah blah. All of the above tells you about this teams mentality. If you watched Bowles’ presser, you’ll know where they get it from. Excuse after excuse, and everything’s fine.

Tony Dungy was fired for a LOT less

  49. BigZ Says:

Funny Kenton, because I felt we don’t have enough Dawgs too. Especially, on O. Bake, 67 and Mike, that’s it on O. Maybe Tristan.
On D, LVD, but he’s aged rapidly this year. AWJ was a couple of years ago.
Parrish and Smith is all I see on D. However, a D needs a lead Dawg and we don’t have him.

  50. Gipper Says:

It’s laughable that Winfield could be so casual about an inept defense that has persisted for almost 3 years. Why not be casual, these guys are multimillionaires whether they win or lose? There is no way to rationalize repeated defensive failures. These guys act like they should all get participation trophies. For any starry eyed fans, this game was awake up call. This team is pretty mediocre especially with 2 large holes on the O line and 3 large holes in the WR corp. Not even sure this team can beat Carolina. Remember it was early season heroics by Mayfield that created a false impression that this is a good team. It just isn’t.

  51. SBucs13 Says:

They must be smoking grass in the locker room. These players learned excuses from the best.

  52. ChiBuc Says:

Like I was really proud of the way we came out today.

Is Barton aware that they came out with a give me on the 7 yd line and had to settle for a fg?

Winfield looks like a pudgy Lil toddler out there among men. He and Zyon may have led the team in tackles, but each tackle came AFTER a big catch or first down. This team needs a Hardy Nickerson to get in their face. AWJ, boo. LVD, yawn. Vea, crickets. HC/DC, delusional.

  53. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Yeah, Licht hasn’t been as great as the Joes think he is. Toad Bowels has sucked in so many ways. Just watched Payton take down the Chiefs. Great to see them 5-5.

  54. Rod Munch Says:

Guys, cheer up – we won the Week 6 ESPN Power Poll – and Baker won the week 6 MVP voting as well. That’s worth celebrating.

  55. BUCDADDY Says:

Finding positives in a game like this is hilarious, and means we have a team that knows they can only beat tomato cans. Calling it now. We will finish 10-7 because, other than the Rams, that’s the only types of teams will will be playing. We will win the south because it is so terrible, then lose to the 5th seed in the first round of the playoffs. Everything from the play calling to the defensive schemes looked atrocious. Got an INT in the red zone and still can’t score. Pathetic and embarrassing. Buffalo is also very predictable, yet Josh Allen ran for 6-7 yards anytime he wanted to. Couldn’t ever tackle James Cook, even when we clearly had him behind the line of scrimmage. Didn’t go for it on at least 2 obvious 4th and short downs. Just a terribly coached team that is mediocre at best. Tykee Smith seemed bummed out, and he should’ve been, because he’s the only one that seems to be worth a dam on this defense anymore. 10-7, and out first round. I’ll be back to tell you guys I told you so.

  56. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Winfield is getting close to mediocre, other than his paycheck.

  57. FortMyersDave Says:

All this passiveness is a reflection of the head coach. If there was an award for worst head coach of the league, Bowles would be a front runner with Rah.

  58. Rod Munch Says:

Who have the Bucs lost to?

    Eagles
    Lions
    Patriots
    Bills

All those teams are just flat out better than the injured team the Bucs are putting on the field.

Add the Rams to that next week as well.

It’s OK kiddos, just need to make sure we make the playoffs, and if we get guys back, we’ll be OK.

After all WE ARE THE WEEK 6 ESPN POWER POLL WINNERS and have the week 6 NFL MVP!

  59. Cybersecurity_intern Says:

I keep coming to see the new that Bowles was kicked out of the flight back home

  60. Jmarkbuc Says:

Winfield is “happy they came out fast”. “Now we have to learn how to go 4 quarters.” WTAF. Brady would puke all over these guys, with that attitude.

JHC. This team is as soft as Bowles gut.

    Completely unprofessional.

  61. Cybersecurity_intern Says:

No Rod its not alright , you can always lose but at least you show that you are trying to improve the issues the team has. We dont, we see Diaby chasing wr around the field, you can get burned but that is embarrasing.

  62. FortMyersDave Says:

BTW, if one of these players got benched or cut, like they would with a coach who holds players accountable, they would not be so lax about getting blasted. This is all on Bowles.

  63. Alanbucsfan Says:

Vea must be playing injured- didn’t show up on stat sheet and Allen plowed through middle of the DLine.
Very disappointing 4th quarter after exciting 3 quarters
The Defensive line is not good

  64. Rod Munch Says:

You guys don’t get it. We’re saving the real defense for the playoffs. We can’t show everything now. You’d think you guys would have realized that by now. You put your best pass rusher 40 yards down the field in coverage, because when coaches see the tape, they’re baffled and have no idea how to attack that. I mean in this case they got lucky, but it’s because they weren’t prepared for it. Now that it’s on tape, offenses are not going to know how to handle it! It’s brilliant!

  65. Frank Pillow Says:

How many times do we have to see our pass rush OLBs in coverage against WRs and RBs- getting roasted today- and we just keep on doing what we do. The dumpster fire is here.

  66. Christos Says:

If you are calm and confident after this game and this loss following last Sunday loss then I have to question the standards this team had and their state of mind.
If you are calm and confident after this game it is more worrisome than the loss itself.
Words have become meaningless at this point. Same excuses every time, every season.

  67. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Killer Instinct my azz.

Quite frankly Mayfield has lost his shine too. His misses again today were costly.

  68. OneAndThree Says:

The attitude of this team reflects the leadership of Bowles.

And they could absolutely care less about the loss.

They still get paid more in one game than most will make in ten years.

Bowles is clearly eating well with zero self discipline.

When you have no consequences for your actions, the end result doesn’t matter.

  69. HC Grover Says:

They coming to take me away Ha Ha
Coming to take me away HoHo

It is all so beautiful all the time

  70. BucEmUp Says:

BigZ Yes, too much loyalty. Bowles will never win a superbowl

  71. Mhystc Says:

We’re not winning anything with Bowles as a coach, we’ll be one and down in the playing

  72. VOT Says:

We are, by a wide margin, the weakest division leader in the weakest division of the NFL

The Jags would hang 50 on Todd

    The Rams might score 60

  73. HC Grover Says:

People….this is the Bucs….Look at the history.

  74. John Mason Says:

The defense and the head coach are a $hitshow….another loss coming nx week against the Rams…and the Panthers just won…Brice threw for over 400 yards….this defense under Todd Bowels will continue to allow pitch and catch all the way down the field….DE’s covering WR’s you does that!

  75. Rod Munch Says:

What exactly do you women think the Bucs players should be doing right now? They’re 6-4, still in first place, should they be doom and gloom and say all is lost, the season is over, we need to quit now while the quitting is good?

Damn people, take your Midol, drink your cranberry juice, and a hand full of xanaxs – then come back in a couple of weeks because it’s not getting better next week.

  76. johnnythemoon Says:

I really thought we would go 17-0 ..very sad.

  77. HC Grover Says:

It is not if you win or lose but….
    How you play the game….

Errr umm Uh Oh never mind.

  78. Pmike Says:

You can’t be mad with the stat line the Bucs put down. That wins games. Defense was as tight as it needed to be; but when our top 5 nfl CB Dean goes out, what did you expect vs a gun slinger like Allen?

You want that win, but great game for the rookies before a playoff push

  79. HC Grover Says:

Munch what about ‘The Positive”” That was funny.

  80. BUCDADDY Says:

Hey, they keep returning the ball to the 45 or better, so let’s keep kicking returnable kickoffs. This team is as goofy as they come. My God, we are the Browns of Florida. Even Miami beat Buffalo. This team stinks, and now every week, I show up on here to make fun of them. Boy, it sure feels a lot like being a Brown’s fan. Muhahahahaha!!! I’m putting a brown paper sack on my head next week, in my own home, just to watch the Suckaneers.

  81. VOT Says:

Let’s be happy that maybe we win 4 of our last 6 to Go 10-7 and get bounced in the first round again…

The writing is on the wall, this franchise is not winning any trophies with Todd Bowles in charge

  82. Bartow Buc Says:

Careful everyone, if our Buccaneers beat the Rams ya’ll gonna eat some serious crow !!
No way the Bucs go 0-4 through this stretch !! Bucs are good enough to beat the Rams !! On any given Sunday !!

    Go Bucs !!

  83. buc4evr Says:

Need a new HC next year. I would even take Gruden in a minute over Bowles. Bowles is a loser with a loser mentality. How could any team lose like this and be “in a good place mentally”? Unacceptable !

  84. BUCDADDY Says:

Oh, and by the way, Allen is a gunslinger? Not in this game. He dinked and dunked up the field against us like teams do every week to our out of position, sorry azz defense. Allen needs to subtract about 100 yards from his totals today. Just keep throwing screens, because we cant stop ’em.

  85. Rod Munch Says:

    johnnythemoon Says:

I really thought we would go 17-0 ..very sad.

    ———

We’ll always have the 2025 Week 6 ESPN Power Poll championship, they can’t take that away from us.

  86. Dee Says:

    @unbelievable

They were covering the flats, if you rewatch the play, Winfield and Morrison blew they’re coverage. I want everyone to go watch the replay Winfield had a terrible game with blown coverages. Now, I’m not saying Bowles is off the the hook (why punt, 6 min left in game? Defensekept blowingcoverage, would rather lose going for it at that point in the game.) but players have to execute, both both plays we were in cover 3 when no one in the back end because they trying to make a splash play. Olb were only suppose to cover the flats

  87. ElioT Says:

    Let’s be honest…

With all considerations, the Bucs are just not a playoff caliber team.

Everything is hard for this team and I’m not sure it’s better with no injuries.

Todd is an average coach who does average things.

  88. Arch Says:

Embarrassing is what this defense and HC are. How much longer are we gonna hang on to Todd? And, anyone saying Baker is the issue. Are you for real. Our offense scored 30+ points on the road & without Evans to stretch the field and Godwin.

Until we get a real coach, I’m out. Could’ve had Cohen.

  89. Mhystc Says:

It’s time Jason Licht, gets some blame.. he cannot evaluate pass rushers/ dline at all.. every edge rusher he drafted is basically a bust. JTS, Braswell, hall.. yaya is decent but tends to disappear more games, then he has impacts in. Robert’s is playing well.

  90. Rod Munch Says:

The most likely situation for the Bucs, if they make the playoffs, is to get bounced in the 1st round. Unless the team is getting guys back and they’re healthy. Take today, give me Bucky, alone, and we win this game. He’s rushing for 250 yards by himself and the defense isn’t barely on the field.

For the playoffs, if you got back Bucky, Godwin and Evans – which is still by far the most likely scenario according to what we know about their injuries – then this is a different team. That’s two super stars and a HOFer coming back – if people don’t think that is a big deal, then they should go back to watching the WNBA. Getting those guys back, and perhaps even Kancey on defense, that’s why you’d have hope in the playoffs. (BTW, timeline speaking, it’s possible if the Bucs made a run in the playoffs, even Cody could technically be back – very unlikely yes, but also was incredibly unlike to get back Vita in 2020-21 playoffs).

On top of that, of course, you need Baker to get on fire, but I actually have some faith this year.

I know everyone wants to wallow in self pity and doom and gloom, but based on the injuries this year, this team has over performed.

They beat the Falcons – meh.
They beat the Texans – a much better win than it appeared at the time.
They beat the Jets – meh.
They beat the Seahawks – yuge win.
They beat the 49ers – injured yes, but so was Tampa, a big win.
They beat the Saints – meh.

They lost to the Eagles – they’re the better team
They lost to the Lions – they’re the better team
They lost to the Patriots – they’re the better team
They lost to the Bills – they’re the better team

All those “they’re the better team” – that’s vs the beat up injured Bucs.

That’s why you’d have hope. If the team isn’t lying – if Bucky, Godwin and Evans are in fact coming back – then there is hope to be had.

  91. bud liked tht bucs Says:

its the bucs life after all honestly the defence is defensive bud would not like this where is father dungy

  92. BucsFan81 Says:

I hope Bowles is watching the Lions vs Eagles game. See Bowles you play man coverage like Lions and you can’t stop teams. Stop with the zone coverage and defensive ends running downfield with WR. You’re not fooling anyone just creating an advantage for the other team. Licht start looking at how lions and Eagles draft DE and pass rushers they know how to rush the passer it helps the CBs when you have a pass rush. Not rocket science here.

  93. Arch Says:

Sorry Rod, bad head coach and bad defense isn’t gonna cut it in this league…no matter who comes back from injury on offense.

If all the injured offensive players came back that doesn’t mean this team will start winning. Especially with the defense giving up half a hundred to playoff teams.

It’s looking like the Lions will be 6-4 after tonight’s game with the Eagles!!

    Go Bucs !!

  98. Winny Testaverde Says:

Hairdresser Hot Rod Mulch hopped up on wine coolers is always a good read. A male? hairdresser calling everyone ladies is ironic…but here we are. Baker will probably have to pull Bowles from the fire for a 3rd straight year to make the playoffs.

  99. Bartow Buc Says:

BI 7 and CG 14 are going to be back for the Rams game !! That’ll help !!
Then maybe we can play no risk it no biscuit!!

    Go Bucs !!

  100. John Urban Says:

Someone needs to start flipping over tables in that locker room.

  101. FortMyersDave Says:

Bartow Buc, if Bowles was not running the D, I would agree with you but Bowles will stubbornly stay with these idiotic exotic schemes which other teams have figured out. The special teams will still be bad because no one will be held accountable. This team is a 10-7 team with Bowles coaching it and they will not beat the Rams and will likely find a way to lose a division game or 2.

  104. Mobucs Says:

Only one team wins in Buffalo in November. And it ain’t the visiting team. The Bucs were ahead halfway through the second half, and then the Bills and the weather wore them down. There were 8 or 9 lead changes. It was an exciting, competitive game, unlike many in the No Fun League. The Bills last drive hinged on two fortuitous, maybe even lucky, plays, a bobbled but valid sideline catch and a finger caught in a helmet’s earhole earning a penalty. The outcome was unfortunate for us Bucs fans, but it was no disgrace, except for all the taxi teamers playing flag football on kickoff returns. The Bills are a serious Super Bowl candidate, they were coming off an embarrassing loss, and they were playing at home. To duke it out with them on fairly even terms for most off the game was a respectable showing. For myself, the Sean Tucker Show took a lot of the sting out. Working him into the offense should make this game indeed worth the effort.

  105. Alstott40 Says:

My favorite play was when the Bills WR knocked it 7 yards in the air on 3rd and long, and the defender was playing so far off he had to catch it and get both feet in bounds.

  106. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    🤣

    TOTAL BS!

…….all you gotta do is look at the face of Baker when that penalty was committed by the Bucs Parrish ……that look by Baker was like “f-ing cmon”………

NOBODY on that team will tell the truth or say “yeah, we’re in trouble…..our defense cannot stop anymore and we have no offense”

No….of course not….now all you “Yes men”….fall in line!! 😡

  107. Tucker Says:

Well at least they all had on their uniforms on right I guess that’s a reason not to be too down about losing another one.

  108. Bucs4Ever Says:

Who are all the ppl that vote “confident” for that LOSER bowles who isn’t even a .500 coach???

Stop hiding and speak up and tell us why you believe in Todd the LOSER?

  109. HeartyDickerson Says:

It just blows my mind how this org undervalues personality, leadership, passion, and charisma in their HC.

Todd Bowles possesses none of those traits. No, he doesn’t need to be a rah-rah cheerleader, but how they can minimize having a cigar store Indian as this team’s leader is beyond bizarre.

  110. Kenton Smith Says:

Munch. Bucky coming back doesn’t mean he’s taking RB 1 job. He and White are good playmakers and excellent team players. I think we’ve all seen, except for you maybe, who our best rusher of the football is. Sean Tucker is a bad man. And Bucky better cinch up his chinstrap because White is playing some good football too. Those 3 competing for snaps is a great thing. But Tucker is our number one running back. If someone beats him out they are going crazy and I mean in a good way.

  111. admin Says:

@ joe why my comment not showing??

No idea. Why isn’t your comment not showing?

  112. Dan the Bucs Fan Says:

We are playing for the 4 seed and to be healthy for playoffs. That is frustrating but it’s reality. Bucky is not going be the starter when he returns he missed two months from one hard hit he has to be in a commitee to keep him healthy. We have nothing at WR right now the rookie drops as many as he catches not ready to be a number 1 but he will learn.

Jason not bringing in a pass rusher at trade deadline is why we won’t win the superbowl no matter how many wrs and rbs return.

We had some magic we had some real
Momentum but we chose to punt this regular season away try to run the table at the 4 seed.

We will get blown out in round 1 and we deserve it.

Baker had nobody to throw the ball to.

  114. JReel Buc Says:

Blow it up blow it all up. The whole fan base saw this coming a year ago you had. A future in Coen, Bowles is the past. The Glazers and Licht are faithful and committed to a fault. This is on them they could of went in a different direction. Now the Head coach search starts. Evans Godwin and David Era is done.

  115. Proudbucsfan Says:

Rod D—K Munch, give it up. Your sarcastic comments about the week six Power polls are history. The team was 5-1 and people were excited. They got duped because they thought this was a better team and possibly better coached this year. It turns out that’s not the case. I’m afraid that the improvement of 1 win every season of Todd Bowles tenure is over. The con is over. There is at least 3 more losses coming.

  116. unbelievable Says:

@Dee – I can’t see a replay right now but that would nott surprise me either.

Winfield blows his coverages weekly. Been doing that for years. Especially when we rotate into quarters coverage. He just makes splash plays here and there.

Basically describes our defense as a whole:

Totally inconsistent, gives up huge plays, but gets some turnovers here and there to mask the warts.

  117. C-spann4 Says:

We’ve seen this same song with the defense for the past 3 years. Bowles can not beat good teams. He always gets out coached. I expect a loss next Sunday, the Rams usually have the Bucs number plus it’s a primetime game. Sounds like a recipe for another L

  118. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

So annoying. This BS attitude of next game. Why can’t we have the attitude like the Lions where we refuse not to lose 2 in a row? Why can we be like the Pats that come to our house and want to show America they are a contender? The Bills scored 13 F-ing points against the dolphins – THE DOLPHINS. 13 POINTS. And 44 points against our Bucs.

As of this game today, I am anti Bowles. The Offense did its part even with all the injuries. Evans, Godwin, Bucky, 2 guards. 5 freaking starters plus Mcmillien. 32 POINTS should be ENOUGH to win. What is Bowles missing besides a real DC? Kancy and always in the tub J Dean. How many sacks did the Bucs have = 0000000

As I have always said, Todd does a lot of things right. Good at player development, hiring coaches. But SUCKS as a DC – 44 POINTS TODD, 00000 Sacks, even with 3 TOs, what a joke

  119. DrunkInYbor Says:

Just imagine if we had a pass rush…. Im so sick to death of our D ends. Jason and Glazers decided to save money and let the dice roll. I think not making a mive at the trade deadline suggests they dont belive this team can win a super bowl. Look what we did to get Gruden. Injuries happen. Calijah is the king ding a ling of the offseas9n but is fragile like glass so is Godwin. Good moves getting a wide out in the draft. But come on. We ALL see how bad this d Li e is at getting to the q.b. Why in the name of a higher power do we never ever ever address it. Licht should be just as focused on the D line like he has on the O line. Every Gosh darn off season. We beg for a defense end. Over and over and over.

  120. SBucs Says:

This defense regresses weekly. Todd has an excuse for everything. The personnel is not playoff caliber, the coaching subpar, there is little heart or passion, recipes for frustration. Likely this is the lowest salaried coaching staff and it shows. You get what you invest. There are no reserves and the GM thinks he walks on water. As long as Jason and Todd lead this team it will be mediocre.

  121. Rod Munch Says:

100% of the morons whining now, saying cancel the season, it’s all over, fire everyone, reboot the team — 100% of those dopes were celebrating being 1st on the week 6 power poll like they won the SB. Now you idiots swing all the way to the other side. Just very very low IQ individuals.

Said it at the time, you’re an idiot if the week 6 power poll meant anything to you. Now, of course, these same drama queens swing all the way to the other end, and act like being in 1st place means nothing, having guys coming back means nothing, it’s all over.

Just shut the f up already.

The Bucs have lost 4 games, all to better teams, and they’re certainly going to lose to the Rams, almost certainly in blow-out fashion since that’s what happens when this team plays in prime time. The team was always going to be 6-5, if you looked at the schedule and didn’t know that, it’s on you.

After that things look up, and all that matters is getting hot when the playoffs start – well assuming they make the playoffs anyways. But if you’re getting healthy right as the playoffs start, if Baker gets hot, then you got a chance. If the team still isn’t healthy, if Baker reverts to being middling, then the Bucs don’t have a shot. It’s that simple. Prior to this game the defense had been playing great, and started off playing great – then Dean got hurt, and Bowles did what he always does, and went into a shell, a super soft zone shell, and we saw the same thing we always see when he does that. Lets just hope Dean is back quickly.

  122. Texas Tony Says:

Our defense needs help. i think the glazers are to soft to say anything. Hire a DC for Pete sakes our ST sucks you know what?

  124. Pelsbuc61 Says:

They can stay calm and confident right out of the playoffs and into the off season. Winfield got paid and now sucks. Same for Zyon. Hardy Nickerson needs to be on this staff and get into some of the players’ faces.

    Wow, a brilliant retort.

Anywho, stop being so boring, and stop being a drama queen. It’s not all lost, kiddo.

  126. unbelievable Says:

Rod you’re the only dummy talking about a power ranking…

Fans were high on the team after big wins vs Seattle and SF. Then the offense regressed for 3 weeks, and the defense joined them (save for 1 game against a terribly pathetic New Orleans Saints team).

Special teams has pretty much sucked all year, though today’s kick coverage was historically inept.

They are underachieving. Plane and simple. Led by stupid playcalling in every phase of the game and soft players making boneheaded mistake.

This team peaked in week 6.

  127. SBucs Says:

The Bucs lost to a better team. No problem with that. It’s what the Bucs do. My problem is how they lost. Poor coaching, idiotic positioning by coaches ( DEs covering receivers), lack of special teams coverage, the special teams did one fumble and recovered, two weeks of giving up long plays on defense, all of these symptoms of poor coaching. Proof me otherwise.

  128. Christian Blauvelt Says:

I suppose panic and recriminations aren’t helpful, but this could suggest that the idea of having a guy with real attitude there to lay into some guys might be something we’re missing right now. Especially when it comes to the defense…

I was thinking of how Lee was saying over and over on the podcast that if the Bucs run the ball, eat the clock, and own the time of possession battle, they’d probably have a good chance of winning… what was not said on the podcast was how those things wouldn’t matter at all if the defense completely collapsed in the fourth quarter.

  129. TheBucsAnthem Says:

The Bucs are just simply not a good team.

…..they’ll be lucky now to even make the playoffs

  130. Delson Says:

If Tez had gone 2 the Chiefs he’d be getting those long fading crossing routes while the oline blocks the right edge with either a te or rb leak. QB drops back n rolls out 2 his right regardless of pressure or whether there was play action. It’s crazy how small speedy wrs are threats on other teams. Running little guy routes. Talent and athleticism wasted on this team. Smh say that Tez doesn’t know the playbook or the routes. Kelcey nor gronk run 100% scripted routes. Let him get open n make guys miss. Get him into the playbook in the off-season or thru practice. Him n the QB coach going over routes n play calls. He will definitely open up passing lanes for egbuka shep n otton. 2 times we should have went for it on the final play. At the end of the half and our last possession of the game. Kick the xps no 2 point conversion attempts till the game unfolds. Which is middle to the end of the 3rd quarter. That’s when u kno what the score is looking like going into the 4th maybe those conversions ain’t even necessary. They get held 2 a fg they take the lead. We get the ball maybe we score a TD or we don’t but even if we kick a fg we go up. We lose out on a xp 2xs and we’re down a full fg. Put the pressure on them 2 answer us. Blocking needs 2 get better, as well as coverage. I see other teams have guys on the wings that literally excel as consistent tacklers. Beating the press. Some are wrs some are safeties or corners but they get down the field n wrap up. We can consistently move the ball but Baker has 2 stop locking in on wrs. I’m not done with this team we need 2 play smarter.

  131. Roscoe Says:

Let’s hope that the Glazers have learned their lessons. The Bucs do not need another head coach/coordinator.

  132. Let em bake Says:

I’m tired of the first place schedule opponents. That’s tough sledding. I propose a “soft tank” the remainder. Start Morrison . Let Chris fully heal, be crisp for next spring. Ditto Mike. Let Tucker run wild. Then we package him, jmac, and a third rounder for a top shelf edge rusher. We go into next year with a second place schedule , healthy, and scary off the edge. So let it be written , so let it be done!

  133. Buddha Says:

Really, did you think a team without its three starting wide receivers would be in the Super Bowl? Name one Super Bowl winner that lacked its three top receivers and won. This team plays hard, but they simply aren’t anywhere near full strength. When we played KC in the Super Bowl they lacked two starting offensive lineman. Do you recall the result? INJURIES DO Matter. When 35 left the game today, it was over. Morrison will eventually be a player, but he was gone all spring and most of the summer. The special teams coach should be gone tomorrow.

  134. LakelandSteve Says:

Wow, that is eye opening Joe. You would think the Bucs players would be devastated after a loss like that. These guys are super competitive and you would think a loss would just piss them off. Maybe they have too much of the Bowles mentality. We will find out next week when we play the Rams. Playing good or even great and losing won’t cut it. They need to win that game. Unlike last year we don’t have any wins against any of the top teams in the NFC this year. We need to pull that one out.

  135. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    HA!

the Bucs will LOSE against the Rams next week……guaranteed!!!!

  136. View from 132 Says:

I feel bad for fans that expect players to have emotions about the game. I wish they still did, but for the vast majority of pro athletes, it’s a job now. They aren’t playing for you – they are doing their job. They might train hard or play hard, but at the end of the day, they win some and lose some and get paid either way, then go home. Fans take it much harder than players and coaches. You can see it on the field. Lots of business decisions made each game.

This team is a clown show, and Baker can’t carry a team. This is another Wild Card exit, at best.

  137. Roscoe Says:

What in the world is wrong with this team ? Are they a bunch of schizophrenics ? Do they suffer from multiple personality disorder ? Other than Baker they seem to have no identity. Even though I was very complimentary of Bowles in other comments, I would not have a problem if the Glazers (very unlikely) fired Bowles, promoted Grizzard, installed Thad Lewis as OC and Nick Rapone as interims. That would send the signal that nobody is safe and could find themselves in Cleveland, Cincinnati, or New York overnight. The only leader this team has seems to be Baker.

  138. Roscoe Says:

Where is Warren Sapp when you need him ?

  139. Roscoe Says:

I can’t believe I’m saying this but even Gruden and Belichick are starting to look good.

Humm… I see to remember 100% of the idiots in here having a melt down now celebrating winning the week 6 ESPN Power Poll like it was the Super Bowl and chanting MVP, as if being the week 6 MVP means anything.

Now all these drama queens swing to the complete opposite direction demanding everyone is fired, cut, rebuild and start over.

You cupcakes need to chill out. The Bucs have lost 4 games, all to the better team. Period. That’s what happened. If you think these injured Bucs teams are better than the Eagles, Lions, Pats and Bills, then you’re an idiot. Baker isn’t the MVP, and he’s not single handedly beating top teams. He needs guys back, and if that happens, then the Bucs have a chance.

The fact you nutjobs are getting upset that I’m saying the sky isn’t falling is all about you and apparently all of you being synced up.

  141. Roscoe Says:

“We’re kind of on a skid right now. We’ve got to execute better in situations, but I don’t think we’re in a lull by any means,” Barton said. “I thought we were doing some good things.
    ^^^^^
What a bunch of politically correct BS speech. This team not only lacks a killer instinct they are starting to sound like a bunch of pansies.

  142. MelvinJunior Says:

I don’t understand why everyone is so freaked out and setting the bed over this. I mean, isn’t this exactly what you already KNEW was going to happen!? I did. I guess, I just expected that everyone else did too, for the most part. It’s just not very shocking, at all. Like, I said the other day… A big ole YAWN. Oh, well. Next. They HAD ‘their coach’ – but, oh yeah… They CHOSE a 60-YEAR OLD, middle of the road, boring, low energy, old defensive coordinator. What do you expect.

  143. MelvinJunior Says:

    *wetting* the bed.

  144. Rod Munch Says:

You guys all talked me into it. I change my mind. Who cares we’re still in 1st place, it’s time to tank for a draft pick. Fire everyone, starting with Licht, then Bowles, cut Baker, Godwin, Evans, David, Winfield, Vita, Wirfs, they all suck, everything is lost, heck move the team to Montreal. I hate everyone on the team. GRRRR I’m angry GRRRR

Now can I be part of the cool kids club again? Where do I get my “I hate my team we’re the worst” paper bags from? Can I also back order my Week 6 MVP and ESPN Power Poll #1 shirts as well – or are they all out of stock?

  145. Mike Johnson Says:

How many times did buffalo punt tpday? 2 maybe 3? Well, at least one thing is crystal clear, This Buc team is not a championship team. Not with our Defense and special teams. You guys can kid yourselves all you like. We have Serious Defensive priblens. So serious, I;m not even sure we can beatr Carolina now. We will be 6-5 after next week. I have never seen such a pityful display of Defense than the one we put on today. It was disgraceful and shameful. If it were not so late in the season, I would fire Todd Bowles.
