Tom Brady: Bucs Are Better Than Patriots

November 5th, 2025

Critical clash for the Bucs on Sunday against the surprisingly mighty New England Patriots.

The team formerly known as the Belicheats is undefeated on the road and is 7-2 overall. Still, the most famous former player for both teams says the Bucs (6-2) are the better club.

Tom Brady does weekly power rankings for Fox Sports and ranks Tampa Bay as the No. 3 team in the league. He says the Bucs are underappreciated around the league and should be mentioned in the same breath as the Eagles, the Chiefs and the Bills. On New England, ranked No. 6 by Brady, he gushed about the job of new head coach Mike Vrabel and how the team has “all the intangibles dialed in and looks like a classic New England football team.”

Brady called Sunday’s game “a huge showdown” and requested nobody ask him to pick a side.

Are the Bucs actually under appreciated? It’s tough to know who the true top dogs are in the NFL right now, but CBS sports ranks the Bucs at the top of their power rankings. Fox sports at #2 and the 4-letter network at #4. It’s kind of a dog pile at the top.

Emerge 2-1 through the next 3 games and they’ll earn respect.

  2. Leighroy Says:

    *(even more) respect

  3. HopetheBucswin Says:

BRAAAADYYYY!!!! (My wife everytime she sees him)Can you believe he was our QB once upon a time. Time to Bake some Superbowl rings! Go Bowles!

  4. Vinny from Vermont Says:

    4 Keys to this game:

    Win the Turnover battle
    Keep pressure on Drake Maye
Get TDs in Red Zone v field goals
Stop running up the middle on 80 percent of early downs

  5. Rickrose Says:

Until the offense (and Baker) get healthy, the Bucs will need to rely on their, gulp, defense. Teams have figured out that if Baker isn’t running, he’s not that threatening. That’s why they are playing soft zones and stopping the run.

  6. Aqualung Says:

One key. Can the O-line actually open holes and protect Baker? Can the Gizzar actually call a decent game after installing some creativity in the gameplan? Is Todd leaning in on him to do so?

  7. Jmarkbuc Says:

Brady just trying to drag Vrabel and give the Pats some bullet to board material.

He’ll always be a Patriot. Nothing wrong with that.

  8. Bradinator Says:

I’m happy with our “Rodney Dangerfield” lack of respect nationally. Keep not paying attention because we aren’t Philly, KC or Buffalo (and for some reason Dallas gets more coverage than us. Although that may be like me watching Fail Army videos).

  9. Lon J Says:

This game is not on tv in the Orlando market.

  10. Guzzie55 Says:

Our defense will determine how the next 3 games go Go Bucs

  11. Roscoe Says:

The next three games will be the defining moments for Todd Bowles.

Good ole Brady! Very nice of him to say. Ya, but no one is to ask him to pick a side, lol. That definitely would be hard for him.

  13. Oscar Says:

Bradinator, What lack of respect? Brady has us at number 3, CBS at number 1, NFL.com at number 8. Top ten almost everywhere.

  14. Oscar Says:

They still have us that high and are aware of all the injuries! That’s not disrespect.

  15. BuccinBaker6, Says:

The Pats have beaten three 1-6 teams an two 2-6 teams they have two wins one over bills an one over falcons they really haven’t played anyone yet this year the Bucs will be there hardest team they play Bucs have the OLine back that will make a huge Difference they should have time to throw an shou have some holes to run through as well I like Chaad I just think they need to use Tucker more he is the faster RB of the two an can get to the corner or outside fast an they need to use both Backs I wish the Bucs had Godwin coming back this week so they could have more guys for the defense to worry about the Pats have some great DBs or one great one an some really Good one Carlton Davis will have extra juice playing his old team

  16. David Says:

If the Buccaneers offense was healthy and clicking on all cylinders, I don’t believe this game would be a problem and they would probably be undefeated at this point.

And that scenario at Buffalo’s, probably the only game that could be a major problem

  17. CleanHouse Says:

    #1?
    #3?

    These guys are on drugs

    Our offense is crap

Our top 3 of our top 4 are out
    Our RB is out
Our O line is barely hanging on

    I’m willing to say we’re top 8

We got spanked by the Eagles and the Lions when it counted.

In three weeks we’ll know more… but this is my current take

Please prove me wrong and show me the offense isn’t trash.

  18. CleanHouse Says:

*3 of our top 4 WR

  19. Jamal Says:

Its baffling at how and you can tell that im speaking facts when i say this. All these couch coaches with the ee havent played anyone yet is absurd. The last time i checked, all the men in the NFL put there uniform on and have the ability the play the same sport as everyone in the nfl. They all get paid, they all pay taxes, the have trainers as well as they practice. So to say that the PATS havent played anyone is false and disrespectful. These are grown men. Stop using the info that you hear all the commentators and coaches use or say. Be original and for real. This is the NFL any given Sunday. The Patriots are good and have a great coach. Stop hating and getting mad that were back to our winning culture.
Win Lose or Tie New England Patriots til i Die. You see even when we werent at our best i still rooted and rolled with the Pats. The best and most accomplished NFL team and franchise ever. Check the resume.

Is Orlando really considered a Jacksonville market over Tampa Bay market? A big chunk of Florida is going to have to watch that Texans / Jaguars game whether they want to or not.
Tampa’s an hours drive closer to Orlando then Jacksonville is.
I’m not from Orlando so I don’t really know the city makeup but what is the ratio roughly of a Jacksonville Jaguar fan versus a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan in Orlando, if anybody here knows?

  21. Stpetematt Says:

    Far more Bucs fans there.
