Panthers Win; Patriots Edge Atlanta

November 2nd, 2025

Surging with upset win.

The Bucs have a battle on their hands in the NFC South.

The Panthers, aka the Fighting Canaleses, knocked off Green Bay 16-13 today with a field goal as time ran out to up their record to 5-4. Carolina hosts floundering New Orleans next week.

Meanwhile in Massachusetts, today the Falcons lost 24-23 to New England (7-2), next Sunday’s Bucs opponent.

Tampa Bay sits at 6-2 and, of course, wants to keep plenty of separation from the Panthers. The Bucs play Carolina in Weeks 16 and 18 to close the regular season.

On the upside, New England looked very beatable. Atlanta moved the ball and sacked Patriots quarterback Drake Maye six times, with rookie first-round pick Jalon Walker recording two.

Also, the Bucs improved their status in the NFC. Detroit (6-3) fell at home to Minnesota (4-4) and the Packers’ record dropped to 5-2-1.

  1. Ken Says:

Panthers won’t get to 11 wins, which is our floor. It was good they beat GB today, helps our chances at the 1 seed. Assuming our offense can get its mojo back.

  2. Rob in Land O' Lakes Says:

We have two shots at Carolina. Green Bay losing at home was big.

Atlanta looked to tie it and missed the extra point.

Sucks to be you, Dirty Birds!

  3. Rover Says:

Panthers defense worries me. If Grizzard goes into a his shell against those guys it will get ugly. But that offense is putrid. Im sorry. They have a nothing offense and if they can score on us at will we dont deserve the division. Go Bucs!

  4. eoschwartz Says:

Jason you probably watched Detroit and Green Bay lose, if Eagles lose you have a shot at being a one or two seed but you need to grab a couple of players from one of the 2 win teams. This isn’t a year to worry about next years draft, get Baker some security, a decent WR and if anyone that can block, pick them up.

  5. PewterStiffArm Says:

The Vikings are better than the Lions? If healthy, no doubt, we can beat Detroit. Bring them on after we take care of our own business from here until the end of the season. By the way, we should beat the Patriots. If it is on Fox, it should be flexed to 4:25pm. with Brady color commenting.

  6. Matt Says:

Back to another scenario that might put Bucs at #1 again. Wild season

  7. sethery Says:

glad the pack lost for playoff seeding. glad the falcons lost. new england does seem beatable, and now cocky and on a 6 game win streak they’re getting sloppy.

I am not worried about the panthers as competition in the nfc south. they’ll fall apart soon.

  8. buc4evr Says:

Minny beat Detroit. Vikes D line really took it Goff today and their LBs looked good. Too bad our defense has a big problem on the edge and with the ILB. Will Jason make any trades this week?? or will he just be happy winning the division and being one and done again in the playoffs?

  9. Oxycondomns Says:

anyone see stafford toss it to the tight end from the half yard line, lol must have watched last weeks film

  10. ElioT Says:

    Insane ending in Cincy.

    Tee Higgins anyone?

  11. ElioT Says:

Evans is done, Godwin is done, McMillan has broken bones in his neck.

    Need a WR

  12. Rod Munch Says:

Dang, the stupid Bears pull of a miracle win after an insane collapse, that sucks, that’s the type of collapse that would have probably sent them into a downward spiral. Man do the Bengals have a terrible defense. Also, what a genius I am for starting Flacco today – and he’ll keep the job over Baker after he put up 5pts last week and cost me a huge game in my league.

  13. Buddha Says:

Panthers have to play Rams, 49ers, and Seahawks and at Atlanta. Tough road to the playoffs.

  14. Let ‘em bake Says:

Prediction… Mike comes back ahead of schedule. Flirts with 1000.

  15. Vanessa Anne Says:

We would be wise not to take Atlanta or Carolina for granted.

Both are just good enough to defeat us if we play sloppy and don’t bring our A-game.

The easiest way to guarantee yourself a spot in the playoffs is to win your division, and that means winning all of your division games.

  16. Buc king Says:

We need oline depth player and wr.. the rest is business as usual

  17. SenileSenior Says:

Evans, McMillan and Goedeke are on IR. Godwin is not. Big questions for the playoffs. Who might come back by December? These things are not fun to ponder.

  18. Chuckys Bucs Says:

    Bryce young is still terrible.

  19. Neal Cooter Says:

Bucs stink and barely beat the Jets, Texans and Falcons, lol you losers act like they are going to do something lol, they wont even with the NFC South, which is like the best retard win

  20. Down Under Says:

Bucs stink and barely beat the Jets, Texans and Falcons, lol you losers act like they are going to do something lol, they wont even with the NFC South, which is like the best retard win

  21. Baking with Grizz Says:

The healthier Bake is the better our chances with any team specially they way our defense is coming together.

  22. Rod Munch Says:

It’s still completely disgraceful that Bowles lied about McMillan’s injury – falsely said he sprained his neck instead of revealing he broke his neck, all to take the heat off of Bridgewater for throwing that hospital ball – and off Todd himself for starting Teddy in a game he shouldn’t have been in since he was sitting on a couch only a few days earlier.

I’m not one of the dullards that just non-stop complains about Bowles, but that was truly a stupid move that cost the Bucs one of their best WRs, almost certainly for the year.

  23. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Mixed bag today….Falcons, Lions, Packers lose….Panthers win….I will take it.

It also gives us early warning not to take the Panthers lightly…

  24. Rod Munch Says:

Great news! It looks like it isn’t the Saints day, so we should be able to take a 5 1/2 game lead on them today – thank goodness, I don’t want to face them in the playoffs. LOL!

  25. adam from ny Says:

the panthers are gonna be breathing down our necks…not raheem…

i predicted a split during preseason, and i’m sticking to that…

it’s kind of good to not pull away from the pack too much – keeps you on your toes to be looking over your shoulder…

just don’t let those panthers get too close…

the panthers next 3 games are:

    saints
    falcons
    49ers

    in that order
the pats game next weekend is big big big now…

  26. HC Grover Says:

Panters in the mix… Bowles heading for his normal .500. Going to be close. Down to the last 3 games.

  27. Down Under Says:

    bucs wont make the playoffs

  28. DBS Says:

Only half way in the season. Long way to go.

  29. ElioT Says:

Got news for all the idiots saying that the later half of the season will be easy.

  30. Rod Munch Says:

Bucs are only 1 1/2 games ahead of the Panthers, people dismissing them after they just knocked off the #1 seed on the road, you’re idiots. They play good defense and have an excellent run game – they’re a very boring team (like the Panthers always have been) but they’re the type of team no one wants to play.

They’ll lose some games coming up, but they will be a really tough opponent at the end of the year when the Bucs play them.

  31. Rod Munch Says:

The Panthers play Saints, @Falcons, @49ers, Rams, @Saints in their next 5.

Who the hell above just pointed out the hard teams they play as if that was their next 4 games. Moron.

    Dang.

You’d think the two Saints teams are easy wins, although that @Saints game feels like a classic divisional game that you lose (for the Panthers). Also the @Falcons game, I actually think the Falcons win that. Well they probably won’t lose both, but one of the two. But the Panthers aren’t the Bucs, so they don’t automatically always lose to the Rams, and I got a feeling they’ll get a W back there.

Anywho, they will likely be 8-6 when we play them next – but maybe we got lucky and they collapse.

  32. Cybersecurity_intern Says:

Funny how ppl are confident Panthers wont have a chance. We shouldnt look down anybody since we have a sh*tty HC.

  33. Rod Munch Says:

Rams offense having no issues with the Saints defense.

Also the Rams aren’t running it up the middle from the one seven times in a row.

  34. DBS Says:

I thought Dave-Pear was gone. How many names is he using?

  35. Rod Munch Says:

Wow, Jacksonville with a 68-year FG, outdoors, had plenty of distance too. Dang, breaks Chase’s outdoor record.

  36. BPBucsfan Says:

Yeah, I thought Byron Leftwich was back calling plays again. I don’t see us beating the Patriots next week with offense playing the way it has. We’ve been making other teams defenses look good lately, as one the thr Joe’s wrote about. Like Rod said, Rams having no issues with Saints defense. And as I wrote about earlier, Eagles making moves to stay in front, pick up Jaire Alexander from the Ravens. Don’t worry, draft only few months away, and we’ll have all our picks.

  37. Chuckys Bucs Says:

    Rod take a break man.

  38. Winny Testaverde Says:

Hairdresser Hot Rod Mulch with the salon closed on Sundays…and the gift continues to give.

We’ll let all the usual tough talk slide ( dullards…are you 80 years old or older ?).

Allegiant Stadium is a dome…so wrong yet again.

    Otherwise…keep up the excellent commentary!

  39. adam from ny Says:

    i see………..

people in here are not doing well without buccaneers football this bye week funday…

    hang in there fellas…hang in there… !

stay strong my brothers…the bucs are back next sunday funday

  40. Stpetematt Says:

Have Tee Higgins and Davonte Adams going in fantasy. Kyle Monangai too. 🙂

    Looking like a W weekend.

  41. MelvinJunior Says:

This is very concerning. We have to win at least ONE of these next 3-games. And, still have TWO against the Panthers. Surely, Carolina canNOT keep this up!? I don’t know which shocks me the most… Green Bay’s Offense, OR Canales continuing to win with friggin’ Bryce Young, who again today, struggled to throw for over a 100-yards!? Also, ATL kickers missing ANOTHER critical PAT (or FG) LoL.

  42. FortMyersDave Says:

Packers have lost to Cleveland and Carolina with their offense scoring 10 and 13 points. Looks like they do what the Bucs used do; play down to the level of bad teams. The Packers lost that game more than Carolina winning it.

  43. Jorge Says:

Raheem, the Fake Head Coach….had a lucky one year stint w us
and then The Rams and Mc Vay carried him. Its funny how he was
always rambunctious on the sidelines and now
he crosses his arms and remains stoic no matter what…fake
Trying to copy snd act.like he is calm and collected
like the coaches that do it naturally. He’s not a head coach.
It doesn’t fit him well…even the fake manerisms.

Glad they lost again !! Go Bucs

  44. SenileSenior Says:

We can beat the Patriots if we don’t lose our concentration. One game at a time. Don’t worry about the playoffs … yet.

    Go Bucs!!

  45. SenileSenior Says:

Worrying about the playoffs is what fans do, Part of the fun of NFL football.

    Go Bucs!!

  46. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

We’re still two games ahead of the Panthers because they have not had their bye yet (14 week). We play both games after them at the end of the season.

On the topics of trades, I doubt it will happen at all…but trading for Breece Hall from the Jets would be worth a 3rd or 2nd. Solid WR. Healthy. Would solve our WR needs.

So would Chris Olave from the Saints…but he’d probably cost more (maybe a 2nd 3rd and CG to them).

  47. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Both of those guys above are young and producing.

  48. MelvinJunior Says:

DBS Says: “I thought Dave-Pear was gone. How many names is he using”

I forgot all about that guy. What a clown show.

  49. infomeplease Says:

Lets play one game at a time!! Next …the Patriots!!

  50. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Isn’t Breece Hall an RB?

  51. Kenton Smith Says:

“The Bucs have a battle on their hands in the NFC South”. OK. Sure. Baker is his 3rd year here. Okay, the injuries are worse but Baker Mayfield is far and away the best QB in the South. His first year we closed 2023 winning 5 of 6 and had 2 playoff games. His second year we closed 2024 winning 6 of 7 and losing a playoff game with a field goal clunking off a goal post. Despite injuries his third year we’ve opened the season better than the last 2 years. I am saying he’s gonna finish strong. Our depth is getting experience and some injuries will heal. Sure we’ll have a battle on our hands. But we’re the best team in the league. Jason, Todd, Baker and me all believe this team is going to be the ONE seed. Have to be blind not to like this team.

  52. Bucs 95 Says:

Watching the bills cheifs game jim nantz just annouced there gonna be in tampa next sunday for the bucs game so that means 2 things one were gonna get a big National audience and 2 were gonna hear tony romo say “against this todd bowles” like 50 times during the broadcast 🤣😭

  53. NE Fan Says:

Hello Bucs fans, guess who’s back for week 10? Did y’all miss me?

  54. D-Rome Says:

Rod, I think Bowles has done a great job with the Bucs, but I completely agree that it’s disgraceful to call McMillan’s neck injury a severe strain. Lying benefits no one.

  55. Rod Munch Says:

The end of the Raiders / Jag game, ending on Geno Smith getting the ball batted down at the line on a 2pt conversion literally had me almost fall out of my chair laughing. What an anticlimactic appropriate ending for any team lead by Geno Smith.

Now Licht, go call about Crosby while they’re crying, maybe they’ll be emo and make a deal they’ll later regret.

  56. David Says:

Caroline has been surprising, but I still do not fear them at all.

I am glad Atlanta lost – missed an extra point 😂
And Detroit and Green Bay lost

Buccaneers did well in there bye week

    Get healthy

  57. Aqualung Says:

Stupid Packers. As another wise poster said, “You had one job.”

Very glad the Fowlclowns broiler is almost to searing temperature

  58. BucsOnDeck24 Says:

    Our REAL rivals, at last.

  59. Inwoodjeremy Says:

I think they don’t share the injury information because they sell more tickets and merch of key starters playing. Or in this case might play in the future weeks ahead. Someone on the fence about it might not pull the trigger to watch backups.

  60. Whatevs Says:

Uh oh, the Panthers are for real. Todd 500 Bowles Ring of Honor lock for winning 7 straight championships is in Jeopardy. The NFC South will come down to Wonderboy vs Sleepy Todd.

  61. Stanglassman Says:

GB losing Tucker Kraft (likely ACL) could help the Bucs come playoff time. He was on my fantasy team so I’m trying to look at the bright side.

  62. Inwoodjeremy Says:

That and the fact of ousting Trask for Teddy is harder when someone breaks their neck.

  63. Aqualung Says:

Trask doesn’t have a job. The immortal John Wolford was signed over Trask as a Vikings scrub.

Trask can’t even be a scrub in the NFL. It’s the conspiracy! No one wants him to unseat any of the 96 QBs on NFL rosters because. Because they conspire.

    ROTFLMAO

  64. Down Under Says:

Bucs will finish the season 7-10 mark my words

  65. Defense Rules Says:

MelvinJunior … ‘This is very concerning. We have to win at least ONE of these next 3-games.’

The next 3 teams we play all have Top-10 defenses.

Bucs have already played 3 teams with Top-10 defenses.

    We beat all 3.

  66. Aqualung Says:

Bucs have proven they can beat anyone.

They’ve also proven they are capable of losing to anyone.

If this defense we’ve watched the last 6 quarters is real and not a mirage, Bucs are well positioned to endure the Gizzard and his painful learning curve.

OK Todd. Help your rookie it. Let’s go.

  67. firethecannons Says:

Any given Sunday, sht happens, can happen and will happen. Thats why the Lions lost. The Packers lost because they are sloppy and not motivated. Paid all that money and draft capital for Micah Parsons and today they got minimal output. For all we know, the Saints will beat the Panthers next Sunday. Meanwhile we (Bucs) need to be focused and gameplanned to beat the Patriots. We need to stop assuming we are going to win this division. One game at a time.

  68. StucBuc Says:

Looking like JL is content with the team as is and just winning the division. Would be nice to add players to go deep in the playoffs. Oh well, only 14 years until our next SB chance – every 20’years

  69. Heath Says:

What player would guarantee a “deep” playoff run? Would a Super Bowl loss be a failure if that move was made?

  70. Oxycondomns Says:

trask black balled from the league like tebow

  71. Aqualung Says:

Certain medications inspire particular visions. Lots of meds ingested by some.

  72. Whatevs Says:

Getting to the Super Bowl is the minimum acceptable outcome to keep Todd Bowles. Anything less than a SB appearance should cost him his job.

    JUST LIKE DUNGY

  73. Les Says:

NEED SOME PLAYERS BACK AFTER BYE. ANY WORD OUT THERE ON BUCKY OR GODWIN OR LUKE G. ??

  74. Buc1987 Says:

    Neal Cooter is an ass.

  75. Oscar Says:

Everyone pooping in their pants because the Panthers beat the mighty Packers. So did the Brownies and the Cowgirls tied them. The Packers did beat the mighty Bengals and Commanders and Cardinals and Steelers but they were pretty close games. The only good team they beat was the Lions in week one. Not taking anything away from the Panthers, they are getting better and are well coached and play hard. Remember, they did get get blown out just last week by the Bills

  76. Saskbucs Says:

Looking down on the Panthers would be foolish.

Say what you will about his playcalling, Canales proved last half of last season that he’s a legit coach and leader of men. He had the Panthers battling everyone tight from us to the Chiefs.

Once again he has his guys playing good football. I do expect the Falcons to beat them in game 2. I will also give them the kiss of death this week and take them over the Saints in survivor.

Panthers aren’t rolling over for anyone though. Even that Bills game last week… a Dalton red zone fumble flipped the game on them early and they never recovered. I still predict a split with them. We gotta get the Pats next week. Go Bucs!

  77. Oscar Says:

They Panthers are an erratic team albeit a dangerous one so they have to be taken seriously but we are still a better team as long as some of our injured come back and make a move or two tradewise. Can’t stand pat!

  78. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

That injury on Daniels was hard to watch, yikes.

  79. Rod Munch Says:

What an awful game, that’s two prime time sinkaroones for the NFL after this SNF game and that equally awful TNF game.

  80. Woodman Says:

Dave Pear is still here just goes by the name A**Alung?

  81. FortMyersDave Says:

Rod Munch, the Panthers do not have a good defense, they had one good outing against a young Packer team that was reading press clippings yesterday. Carolina gave up 40 to Buffalo 42 to the Pats and almost 30 to Dallas, Arizona, Jacksonville and Miami. They have had 3 good days on D, to the Jets, ATL and a Packer team that acted like they eere going to sleepwalk to a W. 6 bad showing a 3 good ones are not a good D. If Bowles did that, we would want him fired.

  82. firethecannons Says:

omg the dislocated elbow on Jayden Daniels was awful in SNF and unnecessary as he should not of been running in the game being 31 points down. The guy is definitely brittle as well. Let it serve as a reminder to Todd Bowles, remember how he had McMillan out there in preseason worthless game.

  83. FortMyersDave Says:

Firethecannons, add the Godwin injury last year to your take. Chris was in a game that was out of reach, just like Daniels last night.

  84. Defense Rules Says:

If JBFers take a minute & look at HOW the Panthers are winning, they’d see just a few key things jump out:

1 – Panthers are 10-of-11 on 4th down conversions in their 5 wins. That’s HUGE.

2 – Panthers offense has now scored 170 points in 8 games (21.3 PPG), and has averaged 23.2 PPG in their 5 wins. That same offense has turned the ball over 13 times in 8 games, but 9 of those in their 4 losses. Their Passing Game sucks (ranked #29), but their Running Game is very good (ranked #5).

3 – Panthers defense has now allowed 205 points in 8 games (25.6 PPG), but has averaged 14.0 PPG in their 5 wins (yup, Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde syndrome). That same defense has generated 9 takeaways in 8 games, but 7 of those in their 5 wins. Their Run Defense is meh (#16), but their Pass Defense is quite good (#11).

Panthers are winning because they’ve run the ball very well (averaging 157 YPG this season), because their defense has played well in their wins (allowed 14.0 PPG average), and because they’ve gambled like heck & won the gambles (10-of-11 on 4th down coversions in their wins). They’ll play us tough, but the Bucs are the better team.

  85. doolnutts Says:

I know Panthers area rival but I am glad to see Canales doing well always came off as a good dude.

  86. Bucs33Saints14! Says:

I have the Bucs over 10.5 wins in a preseason bet. “Halfway there living on a prayer”? I was hopeful this year we could get to the elite level of 13 or more wins as year three for Baker and the team should be the breakout year.

  87. Beeej Says:

What gets me about Young is he’s a little nimble guy, but he practically NEVER runs
