The Dan Feeney Files

October 27th, 2025

So the Bucs started a right guard yesterday who was not injured Cody Mauch, injured Luke Haggard, scary-in-Detroit Michael Jordan or buried Elijah Klein.

They rolled with grizzled NFL veteran Dan Feeney, who the Bucs plucked off the Bills practice squad a month ago.

Feeney is known for his beer-guzzling passion (see below) but he’s also logged over 100 NFL games. At 31 years old, Feeney is a journeyman. His last full-time starting gig was with the Chargers in 2020. He’s got experience at center, too.

The All-American at Indiana was a third-round pick of the Chargers in 2017.

Joe hasn’t gone through all the film yet, but the Bucs did run behind Feeney when they finally got in the end zone during the 4th-and-1 messes of yesterday in Detroit. It seems Feeney held up OK, but Joe’s not seeing yet that Feeney is a better option than Haggard, who is nursing a shoulder injury after an impressive run in his first NFL work — four starts this season at right guard.

Joe hopes Feeney sticks around. He looks like a boat parade highlight waiting to happen.

The video tells me, he’s going to come through for us.

  2. Aqualung Says:

The performance on the field tells me, he’s better at guzzling beer than blocking dudes.

  3. SlyPirate Says:

Bucs OL had a bad game

The most surprising was Wirfs. He was terrible. Wirfs was making mental mistakes and he got burned in the pass rush.

The only guy on offense that did well … and he did great … was Otton.

  4. garro Says:

Umm Nothing against the big man at all but…Goal line was embarrassing. Even Wirfs was not his usual All Pro self. Worrying. We will face much better D lines moving forward. White keeps stuttering at the LOS and it is maddening. Tucker is not a battering ram back yet he seemed to have no problem hitting the line with some authority. No push by the O line though.

My old coach would have us running gassers at the next practice. Embarrassing.

Not letting Grizz off the hook in this one either. Play calls had all the imagination of Leftnut.

Baker hurt? We had Bridgewater on the injury report for teeth but…

    Go Bucs!

  5. Joe Sea Says:

Hoping the offense is salty headed into the bye. Guys need a moment to regroup and assess the injuries.

  6. Iamgusswayze Says:

Offensively we need goedeke, Bucky, Godwin, and McMillan back as soon as possible, because we have looked lost offensively 8 quarters now. I couldn’t tell you the last time the offensive line played that horribly, I’m hoping it had much to do with playing on the road with the short week. I’m not panicking yet, but the next 3 will either make or break us. Get healthy, go Bucs 🏴‍☠️

  7. Lightningvinny1 Says:

Time to heal,,, if Luke comes back can Heck play RG?? Or are we stuck w the guys we have

  8. MikeCK Says:

I can’t keep track of how many starting O-lineman are out.

  9. Erik with Pilot and Driver™ Says:

Why didn’t our RB’s try to go airborne if we were going to be stubborn and try to run up the middle 8x in a row?

    Grizzard sucks, btw.

Maybe he’ll get better, but as of right now, he sucks. Especially at scheming the run game. Grade = F

  10. JS Says:

I’m not even supposed to be here today

  11. BucU Says:

Is the glass tiger Luke Gedeke even coming back this year at all? He’s another useless injury prone no show just like Calijah Kancey.

  12. Anyhony Says:

The pressure was coming from the left side of the line (the healthy veterans)

  13. Obvious One Says:

Man we need this guy right up the middle! Starve him of beer for a few days before the game, he’d be the walking p!ssed off. Had him two (maybe three) beers at half time so that he’s not drunk, just Very inspired in anticipation of the keg party (but only if we win) that’s going to happen after the game…. Man he’ll be Jacked Up and guaranteed to do DAMAGE!

I can tell you this… every fight (fist) that I Ever got into with a drunk dude I Always expected to pack an extra lunch! Unless you can knock them right out, which happened a couple of times “Thankfully” , They Just Keep Getting Back Up! And if you’ve got that guy in front of you…. Like I said, Pack a Lunch! And Try like He!! to get that Knock Out shot because The Sooner You Can, THE BETTER! Otherwise it’s like fighting a Terminator…. THEY JUST KEEP GETTING BACK UP!

I bet if you had a 120lb. Crack head on a D line and his “high” strapped to the QB on the other side… A Tristan Wirfs couldn’t stop him and That QB WOULDN’T stand a chance! Best defensive lineman in the history of the game!

An example of mind (out of) over matter… (no matter what the he!! is trying to stop the chemically challenge) Shoot… Jason Vorehes from Friday the thirteenth couldn’t stop a committed crack head with his Sharpest Knife!

    Happy Halloween Week!

his nickname should be smoked mullet

  15. Anyhony Says:

BucU………the Glass typer! LOL, go eat a Hot Pocket in your Mom’s basement.

  16. Weekendwarrior6 Says:

Watching that video seems like he will fit in just fine with the oline….now can he block is the question. Lol

  17. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“I couldn’t tell you the last time the offensive line played that horribly”

The Eagles game, maybe the Jets game too. Our offense has looked “good” in 2 games. Seattle & San Fran, they’ve sputtered in all our other games

  18. 813bucboi Says:

ENTIRE OLINE GOT WHIPPED 2 GAMES IN A ROW!!!!!

    6-2!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  19. Colonel Angus Says:

Looks like he was plucked straight out of the 70’s

  20. ModHairKen Says:

Let’s be honest. How many of us are at 100% the week before vacation? And we don’t get hit by 300 lb. men.

These guys need and deserve a rest.

Great job, Todd Bowles for the first half of the year.

Great job, Baker. You have led this team to their best 8 game record in history. Please rest and recharge. The next 13 weeks are where legends are made.

  21. Geno711 Says:

    Reporter 1976 to John McKay…

“What do you think of the execution of the Offensive Line?”

    John McKay to reporter…

“Personally, I am all for it.”

  22. Geno711 Says:

50 years later back to where we were.

  23. pancake block Says:

waited 7 downs for a fake handoff-naked bootleg that never happened, Bake’s leg must be more hurt than they,re willing to admit.

  24. adam from ny Says:

get haggard back in there asap…he’s been laying in the weeds on the PS for years now…and his showing was pretty decent…he can play – and he even has a little upside too

  25. adam from ny Says:

if you told me dan feeney was the son of mark gastineau, i just might believe it

  26. Pickgrin Says:

Feeney was the only OLine player who moved his guy backwards on the 4th down TD run by Tucker!

It will be interesting to see who plays their way into that permanent starting RG spot for the remainder of this year….

    Feeney, Haggard or Jordan?

  27. Hodad Says:

Just want to know why Klien made the 53 man roster yet he doesn’t start over PS players Haggard, Feeney, and Jordan?

  28. Rod Munch Says:

    He looks like my aunt.

  29. mj Says:

he opened the whole for the td

  30. #99 the big fella Says:

Lol Rod now that was funny!
