How Hungry Is Todd Bowles?

October 26th, 2025

Todd Bowles has never been a more powerful NFL head coach than he is right now.

That means he has big-time clout at One Buc Palace, and Joe hopes Bowles will exercise it.

Bowles has been around the NFL long enough to know he’s in the midst of a special season with a very talented team. It’s a 6-2 club that is neither playing over its head nor near its potential.

Bowles should look around and see championship mettle, and then ask himself where his roster needs immediate help.

The NFL trade deadline is 9 days away. Joe can guarantee that anyone the Bucs might draft next year will not help the team win a Super Bowl in February.

Parting with a draft pick or picks should be on the table to add to the roster.

Common sense says the Bucs need help at wide receiver to achieve their goals. Bowles should demand it. If the right fit isn’t there, then Bowles should move on to other positions.

Bowles turns 62 next month. He’s been around the NFL since the 1980s. The head coach should be hungry as hell, and should be the loudest win-now-at-all-costs voice in the Bucs’ heirarchy.

By tomorrow night, Bowles should convene Team Glazer and Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht for a frank discussion on blitzing the trade deadline like he does quarterbacks.

    Agree

  2. firethecannons Says:

Agreed as well, perhaps we could package up Hassan Reddick and Braswell and a pick and make a deal for a decent player.

  3. Aqualung Says:

He definitely looks like he’s been eating a lot. So there’s that.

  4. OR Buc Says:

    Please

  5. Nano107 Says:

Myles wants out go for it

  6. Stpetematt Says:

100% disagree we need wide receivers. Virtually any other position would be more helpful.

  7. Mike Johnson Says:

I don’t think any bigtime traades are coming with our Bucs. I think we are going to focus on healing up and getting ready for the second half. We will see. I think we have the makings and potential to make a run.

  8. Paratrooper Buc Says:

Agreed. Need 1-2 pieces (WR/TE or WR/Edge) that can increase our chances. Doing nothing will not help our chances.

  9. Nutterbuccer Says:

@stpetematt….are you high…..offense has been in shambles last few weeks. We have no clue if godwin and McMillan will be back. Evans is a bonus. Can’t bank on any of those 3. Egbuka and tez wont get it done in the playoffs. Go get Meyers out of Las Vegas. Would fit in just fine wkth this team.

Did you copy and paste that from before the draft?

  11. Roscoe Says:

Perhaps all of the varied experiences both good and bad the Glazers have dealt with since their stewardship of the Bucs began formed an insight and maturity that will make the 50th special.

  12. Stpetematt Says:

RG, RT, DT, DE/LB/EDGE would all be far better choices. Though the defense is playing pretty well as-is…

Myles wants out go for it

I think Garrett may have played himself out of our price range today.

  14. Cleanhouse Says:

Licht will do nothing- that’s his m/o

    Mark my words

  15. MadMax Says:

TE help….blocking and catching, maybe Andrews…..i dont know. And of course a wr since we’re so banged up.

  16. Rod Munch Says:

Who is available is really depending on who is winning and losing, although some guys just aren’t getting traded. For example, not even the Browns are dumb enough to trade Garrett. In Vegas, the fact they allegedly had a sit down with Crosby and told him face to face he’s not getting traded, that means he’s off the table. But with the Bengals losing today, Trey Hendrickson might be available, if they Bengals lose again next week vs the Bills. As for Mark Andrews, very unlikely with the Ravens winning today – but they play on Thursday vs the Dolphins, if they lose, maybe, but any chance they’re still alive and they’re not shipping him off for like a 6th rounder, which is probably all they’d get.

  17. Winny Testaverde Says:

The bye comes at the perfect time…especially for exploring a potential trade. With Cincy crapping the rack today…does Hendrickson become available/cheaper? He has a weird clause in his contract allowing a Cincy to franchise him next season…so many moving parts. Giants are likely sellers also.

  18. Half_Sac Says:

A WR would be nice. If they can’t get that I’d take a pass rusher or LB. Dennis is just not it

  19. MadMax Says:

    He’s worth a 4th rod

  20. MadMax Says:

We played a destroyed team with the aints today…it was easy…against great teams, we need pass blocking help and another receiver threat…thats where Andrews could come in, or some other big name. Otton is all we have apparently.

  21. dmatt Says:

Bowles is stuck in his own ways. He believes running the football up the gut 70’s style will win a championship. Grizzard ran the ball consistently today because Bowles gave the order. It’ll take a creative mindset head coach to get us over the hump. Bowles is stubborn. We should’ve ran a sweep or play action on the goal line and not the same plays back to back. Playoffs football begins 11/9/25. Bowles is a very good defensive mind with his creativity but for some reason will not translate that to the offense. If Bowles doesn’t change his coaching style, his stubbornness will be the demise of his regime.

  22. B Says:

David Njoku TE Cleveland. Contract year and Cleveland has a rookie to replace him. Baker statistically thrives in 2 Te sets, we need a real threat there anyway (That we’ll probably spend draft picks on anyway) and when/if our Wrs start returning there will be no conflict. Beat the drum.

  23. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

Guess it all depends on the “real” health of Luke, Godwin, McMillian, Reddick, etc. is. We need these guys back. Luke and the 2nd string RG are major needs. Heck and the 3rd string RG aren’t getting it done.

    However: 6-2!

  24. MadMax Says:

^ oh im def with that

  25. Stpetematt Says:

To have a truly functional offense we need 5 starting caliber offensive linemen. We are 40% short of that right now. It will really hurt us against strong pass rushing/run stopping teams and it is what we really need to address. If Goedeke is coming back then get a 1 year rental on a pro-bowl caliber RG.

  26. MadMax Says:

    Njoku

  27. BigBoiBuc Says:

Confused by the request to bring in another Te. If all the positions we need that is the least of our needs. Culp and Durham have 0 targets thru 8 games. Griz is refusing to use them. Otton is playing as well as you need a starter to play. Culp is a mismatch all over the field and Durham had 21 short yardage/red zone TDs in college. Griz is showing his rookie play calling skills.

  28. Bucs 95 Says:

    We should sign OBJ

    ______________________-
Then he shouldn’t have signed the extension and kills any possibility of a trade. The money is too big for any team.

  30. Bucky Says:

Dmatt….He doesn’t call the offensive plays!

  31. BuccinBaker6, Says:

WR is Def a need but if Chris comes back an JMac I think WR becomes way less of a need but we don’t know how anyone of thes.guys are going to come back

  32. Erik with Pilot and Driver™ Says:

The offense has been in shambles the past 2 weeks mainly because 1. Baker has been inaccurate and off-time with alot of his passes 2. The O-line is giving an injured QB zero time to throw.

We need the best RG and RT available in trades more than we need WR’s.

  33. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Erik.. just curious,

Who trades away quality OL’s in November?

  34. DrunkInYbor Says:

I think nothing will happen. If anything I want O-line help the most. Elijah Roberts has been playing at a decent clip. But the O-line on the right side is not good at all right now.no Luke, Cody gone. 2 quality starters gone. That’s a huge hug hole do the reason we won’t win diddly squat. Please get O line help. Im begging you Licht

  35. Buddha Says:

Agree with Rod! We put up 38 against a really good defense in Seattle. Baker is injured. We are not a Super Bowl team without a health Bucky and Baker. Offensive line needs help unless Godeke returns.

  36. Eckwood Says:

    Great thought,,, B Says

  37. Ed Says:

WR, Offensive lineman. Desperate needs. Godwin isn’t durable and the Oline has stopped pass blocking. Mayfield needs that extra .5 second to make reads and deliver, he’s been rushed and the they need on taller receiver that has good hands.

  38. Inwoodjeremy Says:

After watching the Detroit game I agree that the team currently doesn’t have enough horses. Detroit and Eagles put the Bucs to sleep early. Been waiting for players to heal since preseason a bye week helps but only keeps more players getting hurt more than anything else. Injury’s are happening faster than the healers are getting back depleting the roster. You can trade for someone elite but if the guy beside him is 2nd and 3rd tier the elite guy gets overexerted. That’s what guys like Braswell, Heck, and Dennis are doing to the others around them.Todd and Jason earn their money with these decisions.

  39. MadMax Says:

Bigbo, they have zero targets through 8 games for a reason….why? I dont know…figure it out.

  40. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    MadMax

If you had the choice, who would you turn the card for:

Denzel Boston (6’4″, 210 lbs) — the Washington receiver with the size and solid disposition

    Or

Makai Lemon (5’11”, 190 lbs) — the USC speedster with the explosiveness and production?

Both solid first-rounders. Boston brings that traditional X-receiver frame, while Lemon’s got the dynamic playmaking upside.

  41. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Ko Kieft is sorely missed.

  42. Redzone Says:

I think CLE may trade their pro bowl guard Wyatt Teller

  43. BucsFan81 Says:

I think offensive line and pass rusher are the biggest needs at this point. We’re missing 2 starting offensive linemen and it’s showing. Doesn’t matter who the WR are if Baker doesn’t have time to throw. Defense played well against the saints with backup QBs cause none of there QB are NFL starting quality. We’re missing still can’t get to the QB without blitzing most of the time.

  44. MadMax Says:

Def Boston LUV…gotta have balance….need that big guy.

  45. unbelievable Says:

Problem is we have no idea when Bucky, Godwin, J-Mac or Goedeke are actually expected back, if at all. (Along with a couple OGs…)

Any potential trade is dependent on those details. Could argue RG more of a need vs WR depending on timelines. Do the Bucs actually have any idea themselves? Or are they riding this season on everyone’s favorite 4 letter word: “H O P E”

  46. MadMax Says:

Sorry LUV, my response is stuck in you know where…I’d say Boston, gotta have balance with big medium and small. Evans is our big for now….hopefully he’s back in 8 weeks, or 7.

  47. BigMacAttack Says:

I’m glad I’m not the guy having to make this decision right now. The great players usually come at a very high trade price in addition to their salary price. There’s 9 games left to go and they have 2 weeks off. This is desperately needed now and timing is great. They should be able to win 6 of the last 9 games with the team they have now on the field IMO. If players get back (not too soon) their chances improve. If they can get to 12-5 they will win division, with home field game 1 PO. So player returns schedule is important. There’s so much to factor into making a trade right now. It’s not cut and dry, trade for this guy or that guy. I honestly expected much more from Reddick and hopefully he’ll be back and wreck some games. I would be very careful giving up the farm for more disappointment. How many times in the past has that happened. Carl Nicks OL is a FA name that comes to mind.

  48. JReel Buc Says:

Defense has a good game against the saints lol thats what they are supposed to do against terrible teams
