Teddy Bridgewater Misses Practice With A Rare Malady
October 23rd, 2025
Smile seemed OK here.
Anyone still have Kyle Trask’s number?
Baker Mayfield was on Wednesday’s injury report. Not good but not surprising.
Mayfield got banged up in the loss to the Lions. Yesterday he seemed fine both at the podium and in the locker room. But Mayfield himself admitted he got bounced around and that he was feeling better yesterday.
He was limited in practice with a sore knee. Concerning, sure. Time to panic? No — until Joe saw the very first name on the injury report.
Backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater did not practice at all yesterday. Just two days after he made his Bucs debut on Monday night taking a knee to kill the clock. Yes, Bridgewater played one snap on Monday night.
The reason the Bucs gave for Bridgewater not being able to practice? A one-word designation: “Teeth.”
So Mayfield didn’t practice much (it was a walk-through) because of a bum knee and his backup, Bridgewater, has some sort of dental issue that prevented him from taking snaps in a “jocks and socks” practice.

Has anyone talked to my guy about his hair cut? Looks more like a Karen than a football player!

Im telling you, we’ve gotta go after one next draft 3rd rd…Sawyer Robertson if he’s still there, he might go 2nd though. This is no dis to Baker, he’s our guy for ever how many years he can keep at it. But we need a young one in the wings learning behind him and Bridgewater for just such a scenario he’s needed.

I still have Kyle Trask’s number Joe, it’s zero.
October 23rd, 2025 at 3:02 am
So, at least 21 now… counting Evans, Goedeke, JMac, & Mauch. Right there about where the Ravens were a few weeks ago, last time I looked at theirs. Between to Bucs & Rays, I don’t know what the hell is happening around here!? Must be somethin’ in the water.
October 23rd, 2025 at 3:04 am
22. Kancey. That was the EXACT number I counted on the Ravens, that day.

Should’ve just bitten the bullet, and turned over the roster for a buncha ‘picks’ and cleared up some more cap, & etc. beginning a couple of years ago… Problem being, we had a coach fighting for his life. He would’ve never survived it. He needed all the help he could get and the FO knew-it! Had to do right by him. It’s been a ‘middle of the road’ team just barely ‘limping” into the playoffs every year, coming outta THE ‘weakest’ division in the league. Not really a true contender, or real threat. Dead cap issues. Picking towards the later part of the draft, Etc. Easy to be stuck there. Not really where you wanna be.

Perfect timing for our bye week. Players need to heal up. Fans need to settle down and relax and watch a little Baseball for a week. Perfect timing for the baseball fans amongst us.
October 23rd, 2025 at 4:47 am
Geesh! I should have read this before commenting on another post about other teams having a lot of injuries too. Thank you for the update, Joe. I think, lol.
Kenton – Agree, perfect timing for the bye week. Rehab, rest, and heal.
One of my colleagues was joking with me about the Sanders kids this week, knowing I am pro Shilo and Shedeur. Maybe it’s time we bring in a younger QB to mentor under Teddy and Baker. Shedeur is starting to show growth. Baker and Teddy would be fantastic mentors.

Umm…Bizarre?
Go Bucs!
October 23rd, 2025 at 6:37 am
Note to Buccaneer strength and conditioning team:
Next offseason when OTA’s commence whatever you’ve been doing up to this point start doing the exact OPPOSITE. That injury report is PATHETIC. These players are made of glass. I’d venture to say that if you had them lounge on couches and watching TV all day we wouldn’t have this ridiculous amount of injuries leading into the reg season. It’s completely absurd and surreal.
October 23rd, 2025 at 6:38 am
I thought the same thing at first, garro.
Possibly Teddy had teeth problems/infections and it got to the point he needed oral surgery. With meds, possibly can’t practice? That’s a new one for sure.
October 23rd, 2025 at 7:15 am
So, all the guys that DNP are in such bad shape, they cannot practice at all. Come on now!!
October 23rd, 2025 at 7:38 am
Man does it seem like the injuries the Bucs have are more than other teams. WHY???
October 23rd, 2025 at 7:59 am
Injuries litter every roster around the NFL right now. I just had to put Tez on my “fake” football roster as a starter this Sunday due to a lack of healthy bodies.
October 23rd, 2025 at 8:03 am
what is going on at ONE BUC PLACE!!!
GO BUCS!!!!
October 23rd, 2025 at 8:11 am
Teddy is washed. I see no upside with him. Bucs need to upgrade the backup QB position next season. Trask wasn’t the answer either.
October 23rd, 2025 at 8:14 am
No hard candy for Teddy.
October 23rd, 2025 at 8:15 am
How is Culp injured??? They barely hit in practice and hasn’t taken many game reps…
October 23rd, 2025 at 8:28 am
BucU hit the nail on the head. The two Joe’s continue to avoid reporting on the issue of the possibility that trainers and strength and conditioning coaches aren’t getting it right. I am beginning believe poor turf conditions ar RayJay May factor in as well.
Joe likes to say he doesn’t believe in coincidences. Well this ain’t just bad luck. Is the organization even looking into this?
October 23rd, 2025 at 8:40 am
I saw Bucky on IG with a sling on doesn’t look good
October 23rd, 2025 at 8:41 am
Well, we’ve always known Licht had blind spots. Pass rush, CB and DL about half the time (or more). And now apparently backup QB. Oh well.
October 23rd, 2025 at 8:42 am
Because it is a BS “story.”
All of a sudden the same people that kept the Bucs — especially offensive line — (relatively) healthy for years all of a sudden turned incompetent in six months?
Besides, Joe’s not a physician. If Joe had a degree in medicine, this site likely is never launched. LOL! 😆
October 23rd, 2025 at 9:02 am
They don’t. San Francisco’s (for years) has been worse. Baltimore has been fully Pearl Harbored by injuries.
October 23rd, 2025 at 9:30 am
Teddy Bridgewater is getting gold teeth to match is dreadlocks.
October 23rd, 2025 at 9:38 am
Dental problems can be a show stopper. I can attest.
October 23rd, 2025 at 9:39 am
IMHO, a big part of the injury problem, and it is a league wide problem, is that many modern football players are bigger and faster then they were say 20 years ago. When they collide, especially at full speed, it becomes a physics thing. The body plus padding isn’t always able to absorb that amount of energy without damaging something.

Bosch Says
“The two Joe’s continue to avoid reporting on the issue of the possibility that trainers and strength and conditioning coaches aren’t getting it right.”
On the surface, that might seem the case…but the true culprit is the players themselves. They negotiated things into the CBA that affect conditioning…now were are seeing the effects of that.
If you spend most of your practices just learning the mental side and not preparing for the physical side, your body simply cannot be ready for a contact sport.
October 23rd, 2025 at 10:53 am
Off topic…that picture makes Bridgewater look like a ghoul.
Buy your Teddy doll now…he’ll be your friend to the end…
October 23rd, 2025 at 11:48 am
Bring kyle back now.
October 23rd, 2025 at 12:09 pm
Every time I see that picture of Teddy, I want to sing that song “ fast cars’
October 23rd, 2025 at 12:22 pm
Infomeplease makes a great point that a lot of posters here refuse to understand….the body is not meant to absorb the contact that football puts them through, they are too dang big and fast, it’s straight physics. San Fran has a lot of injuries, Detroit has a lot of injuries, Baltimore has a lot of injuries, Buffalo has a lot of injuries. It is what it is, no amount of practicing or not practicing is going to help it.
Dudes are 6’4 315 lbs running 5.0 flat and those are DL when you get hit something may break. Not if but when……
October 23rd, 2025 at 1:59 pm
TO minimize hamstring pulls, practice running backwards. NBA players run backwards on defense, and mostly avoid hamstring pulls. It’s the hard charging backs and receivers who suffer pulls the most.
October 23rd, 2025 at 2:27 pm
@ Curse of Gruden – Hard Candy LoL. Do you mean what I think you mean!? He is from Miami.
October 23rd, 2025 at 2:33 pm
The Bucs just need to put out a list of those not injured it would be shorter
October 23rd, 2025 at 6:38 pm
Joe, I see nothing wrong with asking the appropriate person in the organization what their take is on all the injuries and if they have any thoughts on potential cause and effect. And this hasn’t been just the last six months. The Bucs led the league in noncontact injuries last season.
