So Jones is what, 12 of his last 16 I think. One of those was just throwing away as the quarter ran down, another was a drop. So only 2 defensive plays made out of those 16, and both came when playing man defense. The other 12 were all vs zone, easy throws, not even challenging the receivers.
How do you as a coach watch that, and think, yeah, lets just keep playing zone and give up over 30 points a game.
The entire point of zone is supposed to be to limit big plays, if you crappy zone defense can’t stop big plays, then do something else, like play aggressive man defense, which is what you’ve done the only time you’ve made any stops.

You’re not going to get a stop most of the time playing man, but the last 3 times they’ve played man, the Bucs got a stop. Every other pass play has been man, and outside of a drop and a throw away, and one missed pass, it’s been zone, and the 49ers have moved the ball at will.

I have a big problem with this defense, I know very well that we have injured players, that we have substitutes on the field, it’s not fiercely against the players, but against the game plan. And when I see Bowles’ attitude on the sidelines, he puts me to sleep, just like he puts his team to sleep. Whether the team scores, takes a field goal, or he’s a player on the floor, he just sits there with his arms crossed and watches, he looks like a spectator 🤷🏻♂️

It’s not the training staff, it’s happening everywhere. It’s the NFLPA demanding teams don’t practice, and when they do practice, they’re soft. Every former player I’ve heard says all these soft and limited practices are getting guys hurt – and guess who profits from that? The NFLPA who gets a new cut of every new players salary, in addition to getting a cut of every injured player as well. Lots of single mother strippers are living off those NFLPA executives.

Something I noticed the offense could have grinded more clock off throughout the game. Them seem to snap the ball around 7-10 seconds left on the play clock. It could add up over the course of a game. Keep their offense off the field and control time of possession. They in a good rhythm though and do go turtle.

The only real positive is that the Bucs haven’t come close to playing their best football, and they’re already 4-1. Hopefully, they can finish this one out and go 5-1.
