Can he extend 49ers’ streak?
Either you are a big believer in trends, or this will freak you out, convinced that the streak ends Sunday.
Per Rich Hribar of Sharp Football Analysis, Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield should have smooth sailing. Don’t bank on any picks by the Bucs’ MVP candidate.
That is, unless the law of averages freaks you out. Per Hribar, the 49ers currently have a 12-game streak of not forcing an interception. That’s the longest interception-less streak in nearly a century, since 1932.
Of course, the glass-is-half-empty crowd will say the 49ers are due.
Let’s see who gets the upper hand, Liam Coen’s best friend and 49ers’ defensive coordinator Mr. Clean, or Mayfield.

I think it’s fair to say, Mayfield is in the zone right now. Not worried about the offense, although bad things can always happen. It’s the defense I’m worried about. SF is beat up as bad as the Bucs. In Mayfield I trust!

When the Jets foolishly booted Saleh, I was hoping Jason would force His Geniusness to hire him to run the defense.
Niners are indeed due for a pick, and given the Niners’ Mac Jones will play like the second coming of a Joe Montana / Josh Allen clone, Baker will feel more pressure to force a score. His Geniusness’s abominable defense is not good for Baker’s sanity.

Well, Mr Clean is not out there playing so he doesn’t scare me. The fact they have a bunch of backups out there is what should scare them. I hate seeing all of our injuries until I see the niners injury report. Brutal.
We can’t let McCaffrey run on us the way the two running backs did for Seattle. That needs to be fixed. Bucs defense has done a decent job at run stopping at least, so hopefully that’s a one-off.

But I think last week shows what is going to happen. Missing Dean and Morris, Bowles reverted to that God awful super soft zone defense, and Darnold had a career day. This week, guess who is do for a career day? No, not Brock as Bowles already gave him a career day – but Matt Jones, who will probably put up 400 yards and 4 TDs.
Baker, e2, White and Otton had better be ready to put up some huge numbers.

Nah, we’re in good shape, our quarterback just did something no other quarterback has ever done. Threw for 375 plus yards with less than 5 incompletions. No one has ever been that good in the regular season, no one. We are fine.
