Thursday Bucs-49ers Injury Report

October 9th, 2025

Jamel Dean is healthy!

His bad hip was deemed ready for a full-go practice today. A thumb injury to corner Zyon McCollum and a leg issue for Chris Godwin remain concerning, and a Teddy Bridgewater throwing-shoulder injury is new.

The full Thursday Bucs injury list is below. The team did not practice (again) today, only a walk-through session at One Buc Palace.

The Godwin “fibula” problem is concerning. Is it related to his repaired ankle? The Bucs have not offered details.

The 49ers, Sunday’s opponent, are in even worse shape. They’ve got 17 injured players including their quarterbacks, Brock Purdy and Mac Jones.

How does a backup QB end up on the injury list for right shoulder??? The NFL hardly lets players practice during the regular season and somehow Teddy gets enough reps to hurt his throwing shoulder??? I swear this team can have season ending injury’s for getting out of bed. It’s just crazy to me

  2. sethery Says:

it’s pretty easy to tweak a shoulder muscle even just training at the gym. it happens. especially once you hit your thirties lol

  3. Joaquim Valente Says:

    What sethery said…

  4. Hodad Says:

The backup QB hurt his shoulder in a walk through? That never happened to Trask lol.

  5. Bucky Says:

Not worried about Chris, you have to keep in mind that was his 1st game on turf. Turf is bad on regular legs so a surgically repaired one for the 1st time may just require additional rest.

  6. Saskbucs Says:

Nice to see Izien is practicing as well.

Dean and Izien for McCollum… I will make that trade and be fine with it for this week.

Pretty disappointed about Evans though. When it was deemed a less serious hammy pull than last year I figured he would only miss 2 games and be back this week. Would be a huge help especially if Godwin is down. Of course I would rather not rush Mike either. Need him full strength to chase that 1000.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

TBBF has injured his shoulder lighting a cigar.

  8. Rod Munch Says:

This Prime Vision broadcast of the TNF game is great. I hadn’t tried it out this year, but they have a view as if you’re playing Madden, with the players on the field listed, and the AI predicts the defensive coverage (100% accurate in the limited snaps I noticed it). You still get the broadcast audio as well. If you’re watching this, try that out, you can see all the plays developing, etc – this is a great way of watching a game.

  9. Falconrap Says:

Letting go of the QB that’s been in this offense the last two years, who is younger, for a 30″s something dude that was on the street coaching HS football was just idiotic. If Baker goes down, they better hope Teddy can play and doesn’t get hurt worse. Baker’s a tough SOB, so they may not pay the piper for that, but he was getting banged up a bit last week.

It was a move for the QB room culture, Trask wasn’t helping because he can’t read defense or understand multiple schemes. The guy had every chance to take over after Brady, couldn’t beat Gabbert to be the actual backup either. They have already said how Teddy helps Baker when he comes back to the sideline because he understands what the defense is doing.

  11. Jeffrey Becker Says:

i think kittle still out too. good stuff.

  12. Kenton Smith Says:

Rod, I just turned on the Philly game and looks like a player was getting carted off injured and I believe it was from that tush push. Man they need to outlaw that play!

  13. Rod Munch Says:

Kenton Smith – I think they just killed the play with that series of running it over and over and over again. I have no issues with it other than its boring, and that series should be what puts the ban vote over the top.

  14. Oxycondomns Says:

@bucky this is the same team that mismanaged wirfs. i hope godwin is ok you never hear someone resting a bone

  15. Rod Munch Says:

    Entertaining game so far.

And I’m telling you, this new Prime Vision view is just fantastic, they literally are mimicking the Madden view, so sort of ALL22 but more zoom in at more of an angle so you can see more detail. This should be the default view for football games – or at least be an option for every game. This would be worth paying for by itself.

  16. Aqualung Says:

Excellent. Todd will line him up at nose tackle. That’s versatility. Confuse everyone. If your own players are confused it’s due to a “lack of communication.”

  17. Kenton Smith Says:

My issue with it (it sucks) is that it is an injury waiting to happen. They say not data to support causes injury. How about some common sense? Right as I turned on the game they were carting off somebody with what looked like one of those season ending injuries and I think they said something about the tush push.

  18. Rod Munch Says:

I don’t care about injuries from plays, it’s football, guys will get hurt, it’s not ballet. But they literally ran the ‘tush push’ I believe 4 times in a row, 3:30 of TV time of nothing interesting happening. The injury gives an easy out to say it’s getting guys hurt, but the boring television is the big crime, and that’s what will get it banned next offseason.

  19. Durango 95 Says:

Broke my right shoulder in 2017. Including torn Rotator Cuff. Totally screwed it up. I feel pain as I type this post. Lots of broken bones and plenty of injuries but the shoulder is an entirely different animal.

  20. Bucky Says:

    @Oxycondomns

I hear ya about Wirfs, but the knee problem was stemming from last year sprained MCL. I think he had injured knee previously too or maybe just the ankle.

A bone can be rested if it is a bone bruise that is bothering him. I think if it had a crack they would hav already shut him down. Ko Kieft ran/hobbled off the field when his leg was injured and they said it was broken like a day later.

Rod munch, southeast territories director, Prime Vision😆

  22. Kenton Smith Says:

Durango 95, I feel for you man. The Shoulder is a different animal. Just watching Skateboo score a Touchdown and it makes my shoulder hurt.

    ———-

They got an awesome product, and no one even realizes it exists. They should clearly promote me to national director.

  24. Kenton Smith Says:

After scoring the td he did a backflip and stuck the landing. Made my knees hurt. This kid may be Ebuka’s competition for rookie of the year.

  25. MadMax Says:

man, watching Skattebo now, we sure couldve used him….i remember pushing hard for him this year….instead we have an injured CB who cant stay on the field…bleh, oh well.

  26. Aqualung Says:

It’s great that Todd doesn’t have them practicing. The defense and special bus are sure to improve.

    Sham.

  27. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Bucky – and YOU believe that propaganda Hahaha. That was the ‘funniest’ sheet I’ve heard all day! I guess, YOU’d believe any freaking thing, then. Of course, they’re going to SAY that he’s the greatest thing since sliced bread. It’s just ludicrous. THINK.

For real brother. its’a almost to the point I can hardly read my own handwriting. You think doctors have bad handwriting, they got nothing on me. lol.

  29. Aqualung Says:

Eagles suck. At least Todd found several ways of losing to them.

    Sham.

  30. Rod Munch Says:

The Eagles don’t suck, they just won the SB and were undefeated and cruising to a win as of 3:45p on Sunday.

With that said, losing back to back games in a few days will hopefully lead to all the drama queens up there going nuts and the team will blow-up from inside.

  31. Rod Munch Says:

Want some good overnight entertainment, turn on Philly sports talk radio in about 15 mins.

  32. MadMax Says:

    LOL Rod

  33. BucsFan81 Says:

Calling it now. Bucs vs Seahawks NFC championship. Cause who doesn’t want to see a rematch of what we saw last weekend. Lions about to lose on Sunday night also. After the weekend is over the Bucs will be the best team in the NFC

  34. Rod Munch Says:

Hilarious listening to Philly sports talk – it’s exactly as you’d expect, fire everyone, fire the OC, fire the HC, Hurts is overrated and they need a new QB, Barkley is washed up from being overused, the team is lazy, stupid, etc.

  35. Durango 95 Says:

Bucs in the playoffs? Assuming Bucky returns to form they will have a real strong running back crew. That’s about half the battle. The other half is a strong defense. If they expect to win a game or more it won’t be with the way that defense is playing. Shown some bright spots. Yes. But unless they iron that out, gain consistency, It will be the same replay. Seen it before. Best not to mention special teams.

  36. Scotty Mack Says:

Falconrap – “Letting go of the QB that’s been in this offense the last two years, who is younger, for a 30″s something dude that was on the street coaching HS football was just idiotic.”

Almost as idiotic as people who actually thought that Trask had trade value.

  37. BillyBucco Says:

    @Bucfan81
Until they play Detroit the following week, in Detroit, that supposedly just lost to KC.
How do you play a team this many times in a row?
Im sick of them NO style already.

  38. Josh Says:

If Trask were on another team, I might agree—but the guy is literally unsigned. You could pick him up today, and yet no one has. That should tell you everything you need to know.

On another note, is there anything outside of sports that brings you joy almost on the same level as a Bucs win? For me, it’s an Eagles loss. Seriously—there’s just something magical about it. Their fans are such wonderful, humble, totally reasonable individuals (in case the sarcasm isn’t obvious). Watching them lose just fills my heart with a special kind of joy. Sarcastically obviously but it really does make me smile lol…

  39. Durango 95 Says:

Almost as idiotic as people who actually thought that Trask had trade value.
    —–

Still not as idiotic as those that thought he was worth a 2nd round pick.

  40. Rod Munch Says:

Actually, the most idiotic people are the ones who said, after the first preseason game this year vs the Titans, when Sean Tucker was 2nd on the team in rushing, that the Bucs wouldn’t even consider a 1st rounder for him.

    Yes.

Yes, the Bucs would in fact consider a 1st rounder for Tucker.

  41. Aqualung Says:

Eagles suck in 2025. Just proved it. With a competent HC, that would’ve been Eagles 3rd consecutive loss. But we doesn’t has one of those.

  42. Rod Munch Says:

Aqualung – Hey pal, do me a favor and go take a long walk off a short pier.

  43. heyjude Says:

Surprised about Teddy, however many things can make your shoulder sore. Even lifting weights. Hopefully it’s nothing more serious and rehab takes care of it.

Sheesh! Trask seems like a nice guy. However, no team picked him up as a QB and/or a backup QB. There has to be something to that.

  44. Beeej Says:

Eagles didn’t have ANY injuries last year, then lost a half dozen starters in free agency, THEN lost a lot of dudes THIS year. It is the way

  45. Scotty Mack Says:

Beej – “Eagles didn’t have ANY injuries last year”

Actually, both A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith were injured and didn’t play against the Bucs when Philly got their a$$ handed to them last year.

  46. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Question:
If Teddy remains injured, who will be the backup QB this week?

Years ago, John Lynch was the break glass emergency QB…as far as I know we don’t have someone like that now.

I don’t even know who the PS guy is.

Would they bring in someone off the street for one game? If so, there’s only one guy who knows the offense well enough…not that he would play.

  47. Gofortheface30 Says:

…..the game of freaking football is an injury waiting to happen. So saying the tush push is problematic because of risk given the nature of the sport in general is just…it makes me bleed out of my ears. It’s an entertainment business. It’s boring, it sucks. No one wants to watch rugby, and you shouldn’t be allowed to push the runner from behind – which has not been allowed for far li get than it has been legal. On a 4th and 1, I want to see a Cam Skattebo or Mike Alstott type crashing in to a Fred Warner type and let the best man win. Bo Jackson taking on boz, Atwater cracking Okoyes skull. Thats football

  48. KABucs Says:

It pains me to say that the Eagles are good team but they’re just getting more and more injured. Plus I think they gave everything they had when they came to Tampa and don’t have anything left for any other team. LOL I mean, they tried so hard against Tampa, I think they might have overdone it. I just want our Bucs to keep winning! There are no undefeated teams. Good teams have lost to teams they shouldn’t have and that will keep happening this season.

  49. orlbucfan Says:

My god, the earth just stopped rotating on its axis! Why? Jamel Dean is playing according to this blog. Glad to see my man Izien is slowly getting back into game shape. 5-1, Bucs!!

  50. D-Rok Says:

    @Bonzai,

On the practice squad the Bucs list at QB Connor Bazelak. We saw him play in preseason. Let’s hope Teddy can go if Baker gets hurt!

  51. Buddha Says:

There were no great defenses in the NFL. All the rules favor offense. Teams let’s stay away from turnovers are most likely to win. Detroit is outscoring everyone. Buffalo lost to New England at home. Dallas’s defense is dreadful but offense is dangerous. Indy a scoring machine against weak competition Denver, Bo Nix? San Diego doesn’t scare anyone. Ravens digging as huge while Green Bay, a dark horse. KC likely to hang around with Maholmes but no longer dominate. 49ers best coaching staff but vulnerable roster.

  52. Rod Stewart Says:

My fiancee works in the medical field and one of the doctors in her office who is also a huge Bucs fan said Godwin is making a mistake trying to come back from his greusome injury and that if he managed to come back it wouldn’t last very long. That scared me and now it could be coming true?
