Tristan Wirfs Details The Hassle He Was Involved In

September 29th, 2025

Don’t poke the bear.

Tristan Wirfs is one of the kindest guys Joe has ever met. That doesn’t mean Wirfs has no bad moments.

Joe has seen Wirfs mad. And he doesn’t try to hide it. He explodes. It doesn’t happen often, but when a man his size (6-5, 350) blows up, it tends to be noticed.

So yesterday Joe saw Wirfs uncharacteristically want to throw down in the Bucs’ loss to the Eagles. It got everyone’s attention in The Licht House.

Uh, oh.

Joe almost thought Wirfs may have been tossed. But this is what happens when either a fool or an overly brave man tries to rip Wirfs’ helmet off by the face mask.

That’s what Eagles corner Quinyon Mitchell tried to do. And in Joe’s mind, only a fool wants to square up on a heated dude who is five inches and 150 pounds larger.

Wirfs explained what happened.

“I was just trying to protect Bake,” Wirfs said, referring to his quarterback. “This guy was up in his face, and he grabbed my face mask, and I said, ‘Let’s go.’”

Joe thinks Wirfs had a few more words to say but Wirfs was certainly ready to enter the octagon.

And an angry Wirfs is not the kind of dude Joe would ever want to screw around with. Mitchell, in Joe’s eyes, is a very fortunate fool.

Mitchell will be a marked man in all future meetings between these teams.

  2. garro Says:

But, but, but…Baker started it…LOL We did not get called because Wirfs is also a smart dude. He just backed Micthy boy up and kept backing him up. Did Tristan used to be a bouncer? That whole thing kinda reminded me of that time at the bar…LOL

    Go Bucs!

  3. Leto’75 Says:

He is a nice guy because he is from Iowa . He is a complete badass because he was an Iowa high school state wrestling champion. They don’t hand those out like candy . Knowing the wrestling mentality and work ethic is the reason I wanted the Bucs to draft him .

  4. SB~LV Says:

He was being baited into a retaliatory action which would have drawn a penalty.
    Good on Tristan !

  5. JustOneGame Says:

That’s cool but “Mitchell allowed just 2 catches for 6 yards on 6 targets when covering Emeka Egbuka, with five total pass breakups (PBUs) and five tackles against the Buccaneers. On 22 total matchups with Egbuka, Mitchell was highly effective in coverage”

Grizz needs a mentor, bumps and bruises are expected with a ne OC but that last 4th down play was trash. Also, where was the timeout guy at before that 4th down play, that play was for the game. Saving 2 timeouts for the D was not the right answer

  6. BuckyBuc Says:

Mitchell held emeka and shep ALL GAME.

  7. BuccaDAWG Says:

Wirfs handled the situation perfectly & good job Burton who jumped into the middle of the fray just to keep things even. The Bucs watching each others 6 no problem with that here.

  8. Newbie Says:

I would have loved to have seen someone, including the refs, punk Mitchell. Dude is a good CB but he got away with a handful of “NO” calls. Not blaming the loss on that. We lost bc of TOs and blocked punt. Hope we get them in the playoffs. HATE the Eagles.

  9. Not Gus Swayze Says:

Mitchell and “No call” refs did a good job

  10. SJComm64 Says:

I thought for a moment the Boys had taken notes for the NHL! lol Great Moment and Philly got the flag!

  11. Smarter than Joe Says:

Philly’s pass defense is what the Bucs should aim for

    Hope Todd was taking notes

  12. infomeplease Says:

So people go out of their way to die!

  13. heyjude Says:

    Team Tristan!

  14. Chris K Says:

@smarter than Joe. Bucs strive to get away with defensive holding all game and give up more than twice as many passing yards than the opponent? Is that what the Bucs are aiming for? Lol. You win silliest comment of the day.

  15. Jmarkbuc Says:

    “Smarter”

If we grabbed jerseys like that.. we’d get called every time.

  16. Leopold Stotch Says:

“Ahh yes, today I will mess with a giant all pro lineman who was also an Iowa state wrestling champion. I am so smart” – Quinyon Mitchell… Probably

  17. View from 132 Says:

This is why you can’t take the hitting out of football. You get DBs that make one play thinking they are Deion in his prime and it’s illegal to take him out.

  18. Buc4ever Says:

    Memo to Buc receivers;
Tuck in your damn undershirt. Win game!
Thank you for your attention yo this matter.

  19. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Todd Says
“Mitchell will be a marked man in all future meetings between these teams.”

Hope it’s the NFC Championship game and we knock them out of the playoffs. That would be true revenge.

  20. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I’ve been very supportive of the refs for the most part, but even I can’t defend them in yesterday’s game. The NFL should be embarrassed.

  21. Bucfan1988 Says:

Quinyon Mitchell, the so-called “shutdown corner” is a bunch of BS 🤦🏻‍♂️!!

This dude ALL GAME was nothing but a Jersey-holding, undershirt-ripping DPI holding icon…

When you have the refs in your pocket and deciding not to call P.I., when there’s tons of video evidence confirming this, it tends to make the game a bit rigged…

2025 Eagles = New KC Chiefs.
The team comes with its own set of refs. Prove me wrong biotches!!
False starts the guards for the rush-push is just the beginning of this crap show.

If Bucs tried that move, we’d have 10 DPI flags tossed at us, similar to the amount of offensive holding flags thrown last week.

  22. 813bucboi Says:

#27 was good i cant lie…kid was savvy and aggressive…

the offense is always trash without Mike regardless of the QB or OC…

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  23. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

That video is awesome. Mitchell is in Bakers face, then suddenly he’s NOT. lol Wirfs grabbed Mitchell and dragged him with almost NO effort out of Bakes face and in front of Wirfs. Hilarious.

  24. Esteban85 Says:

Tristan is the best player on the team. Hands down future hall of famer.

  25. David Says:

Love how he was ready but did NOT retaliate and get a dumb penalty. Only Mitchell got flagged.

  26. orlbucfan Says:

@Bonzai: I’m hoping for the NFC Championship to be played here in Central FL this season. Just like 1979, and on my bucket list to be there. My problem is the constant turnover of the offensive head coaches. 4 in 5 years? Try that one in any other business. And be an employee working under it. No way even with AI.

  27. unbelievable Says:

Wirfs had an Eagles defender in each hand at one point lol
