376 Yards Of Bucs Offense

September 28th, 2025

Bucs offensive coordiantor Josh Grizzard.

So in the 20 Eagles games prior to today’s Philadelphia beating of the Bucs, only one team put more yards on the Philly defense than the Bucs did today.

Yardage definitely does not win games, but it is an indicator of an offense’s efficiency.

The Bucs’ 376 official yards today were their most of the season, against a damn good defense. The only other team to break that total against Philly the past 12 months was the Rams in last year’s playoffs.

The Bucs rushed for 100-plus yards for the 12th consecutive game. That streak leads the NFL, and it shows that rookie playcaller Josh Grizzard is scheming the run pretty well behind a depleted offensive line.

As Joe wrote earlier, the Bucs offense also was victimized at least a few times by officials.

Turnovers, three if you include the punt block, cost the Bucs today’s game. But Joe thought it was a great sign seeing the offense not paralyzed by the loss of Mike Evans, a rusty Chris Godwin, and a talent-challenged right side of the line.

    Yes !

  2. Nicholas Carlson Says:

Are there any great retired special teams coaches who want one more shot at a championship and could come in and “consult”?

  3. FrontFour Says:

Not impressed with Grizz. We are so predictable. Give it to Baker and Bucky, EE for those big plays.

  4. Davenport Says:

Nicholas Carlson — the Bucs have zero shot at a championship. They’ll struggle to get to 10 wins.

  5. HC Grover Says:

    Glory Glory

  6. Mike Johnson Says:

Bottom line is Philly whipped us fair and square…Period. On to them SeaHawks. Lets be ready!

  7. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Yardage ≠ points on the board, this ain’t a decathlon or a 4K

  8. George R Says:

It was a entertaining game. The Bucs are starting offensive line is till a work in process. Godwin is just getting his feet wet. When we ge t MCmillan and Godekey and Evans back we will have a better offense. The Bucs were not going 17-0. We have to do better on special team.

  9. Bartow Buc Says:

Thanks Joe for the very encouraging stats and information!! Sure puts me in a much better mood after the loss !
I am still confident the Bucs are a Championship football team !!

    Go Bucs !!

  10. Tucker Says:

Saw alot of fire the oc posts crazy lol

  11. Cybersecurity_intern Says:

I think its not the OC, i think is Baker. Actually starting to think Griz is not that good. If it was the OC we would have passed more to our TE or different plays for our wr. You cant call the same play that you would call for Mike E, for Emeka. Maddness

  12. Woodman Says:

Not impressed with Front Fours comments. Joe just writes this article on how efficient this offense was and all you got is not impressed with Grizz really . Oh by the way we we did not have few starters and we put up twice as much yards as Eagles . What a troll.

the rushing game is terrible. gaslighting

  14. Ufcguy1979@gmail.com Says:

We had two bug plays otherwise we srunk

  15. Jmarkbuc Says:

Half of that on two plays.

Either use Bucky less, or find more imaginative ways to run the ball.

  16. RVATom Says:

The two best plays weren’t drawn up. They were just sand lot ball by Mayfield. I’m not sold on the offense. Too unreliable in the 2nd and 3rd quarters where they just seem to go to sleep.

  17. Buddha Says:

Godwin had three drops. Egbuka had two. Mayfield was not sharp. Buccaneers outscored Eagles 19-5 in the second half. I don’t ‘t think other teams are eager to play the Buccaneers.

  18. Kgh4life Says:

It’s Grizzard first time calling plays. Anyone who thought it was going to be perfect is an idiot. There’s going to be ups and downs as he continues to learn on the job. He just needs to open up the playbook alot more in the 1st half.

  19. Saskbucs Says:

I don’t get the guys bashing Grizz for his play calling. I didn’t love everything… specifically the 2nd and 3 in the first half where we went pass pass punt.

Didn’t love the 3rd and 3 pass pass turnover on downs in 2nd half either. Give me under C play action at least !

Run the ball and move the chains in those spots. It’s hot. Keep the D on the field. Other than that, Baker can check outta what he doesn’t like and does so regularly. Grizzard didn’t turn the ball over. He’s doing just fine, not awesome, but fine and for being 4 games in with musical chairs OL… I won’t complain.

  20. Kenton Smith Says:

Three drives in the first half. 3 dropped passes all would have been first downs. Dropped passes are drive killers. One by Emeka. Two by Chris. No excuse for the pick Baker threw. Defense looked great in that second half. Long field goals almost offset the punt block. Vea is all pro talent. We can’t replace Mike. DR says it best. One team usually beats itself. We beat ourselves today. At least we’re not peaking too early!

  21. Cometowin2 Says:

I would have been in no huddle at 6 mins left in the 1st quarter when we went down 14 let alone down 18. If we had done that, we would have had another drive left at the end despite the mistakes. Poor clock management AGAIN!!! Just ran out of time. It’s not against the rules to go into 2 minute or hurry up offense earlier!!! This would have likely wore out the Eagle’s defense and we probably win. How can Bowles and Grizz not see this? Unfortunately no one has the balls to take Bowles to task on this and ask him why!!!

We get Evans and Goedeke back we should be hard to beat. Defense played excellent the 2nd half. The whole team has to come out ready to play. Got to fix our blocking on special teams. 2 blocked punts, another punt almost blocked and a blocked FG so far is unacceptable.

  22. unbelievable Says:

No moral victories but we outplayed them in the 2nd half for sure. It’s a shame the defense didn’t show up at all in the 1st.

Special teams will continue to be exploited and the entire league now knows it, as evidenced by Nick Sirianni screaming “I told you” repeatedly after they blocked our punt and returned it for a TD. That ended up being the difference in the game.

And yes, the officials screwed us big time with 3 should have been defensive holding / PI calls, which were so blatant even the broadcast showed them. That on top of the Bucky non-fumble…

But it is what it is.

Oh yeah- SVD is hot garbage and both Bowles and Licht deserve to be hounded endlessly by the media for the lies they fed us all offseason. Get on it, Joes!

“I don’t get the guys bashing Grizz for his play calling. I didn’t love everything… specifically the 2nd and 3 in the first half where we went pass pass punt.“

It sucks, sequencing doesn’t inspire or provoke any types of rhythm.

That drive with the pick thrown from the 11 proves this, I don’t care if it were tipped. Keep it on the ground and trust your guys, there less space for WRs to work in that tight in goal one situations and the secondary jobs is made easier by the boundaries. Terrible call met bad decision making which led to bad execution. There also the matter of scoring 3 points in the first half, we WON. The missed reg calls don’t make the other bad plays any better. Dudes a novice, and Fangio clearly said “sure we’ll give you the underneath” and nixed everything else.

  24. Hunter Says:

I know Grizzard was the 3rd down specialist last year, but where he really needs to improve is 1st and 2nd down (not that 3rd was good today).

We have been way too predictable all year, thus far, in whether we’re running or passing.

Need a lot more play-action. I don’t get it, because we have set up quite literally the perfect opportunities for play-action and we have just ignored the opportunities.

i disagree that they will struggle to get to 10 wins. they are 3-1 now. even if they *don’t * get to 10 wins, all they have to do is win the division to make it to the playoffs-and they are in a great position to do so.

when they make it to the playoffs, they have the same shot at a championship as every other playoff team.

  26. GoneGator Says:

Offense should just call scramble drills every play.

Defense has definitely outplayed the offense.

  27. Buc40 Says:

RVATom spot on. This game could’ve been way worse for us had we not gotten lucky with two long unscripted TD throws. None sustained drives, no rhythm, no guys wide open for easy yards like last yr. We miss Coen more than ppl want to admit

  28. firethecannons Says:

Todd Bowles needs to do something about the punt block otherwise it will happen every week, teams are teeing off on us now, they can’t wait for us to punt. Seriously Bowles needs to act on this problem.

  29. Mike C Says:

Philly had -1 yard in second half….. I WANT A REMATCH!

  30. Bucks 'n' Bucs Says:

Philly news says they “dominated” us. Hahahahahaha!!
