“Seamless Transition”

September 28th, 2025

Who leads the Bucs in tackles this season?

That honor is shared by cornerback Zyon McCollum and safety Tykee Smith.

Second-year Smith has been all around the ball at safety. He played nickel cornerback last year and the switch has gone very well.

Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht was all jacked up about the transition made by Smith.

“I think he’s been fantastic,” Licht told the Buccaneers Radio Network. “You saw the sack that he got [in Houston] and other plays that he’s had. He’s a dawg. He’s the mentality that we look for on our defense. It’s been a seamless transition and I’m very excited. I think it’s just going to get better and better.”

Joe agrees. Smith has been a breath of fresh air, especially compared to the intermittent pollution emitted by inside linebacker SirVocea Dennis.

Joe’s looking for a big game from Smith today against the Eagles. He’s a Philadelphia guy and should get a few chances to blitz.

  2. Teacherman Says:

    He’s our next LVD.

    He even moves like him.

Deion Jones needs to start at LB. He is a former Pro Bowler!

I’m praying that our special teams were fixed so we don’t see any blocked field goals.

We get a good game from a couple of players we wouldn’t expect, we’ll be in good shape to get a win. Not so ‘special teams’ teams is my biggest concern today. The heat index is going to be brutal today, especially on the Eagles. I like the Bucs 27-23.

    Go Bucs!!!

  6. JeffB Says:

Probably not a good sign when your safety is your leading tackler.
Doesn’t bode well for the front seven.

Jeffb- it just means teams aren’t running as much on us bc they know they can’t

  8. DWalk Says:

Sirvocea and Vita is why the run d is so good. All LB will be beat by backs like the A TL back and today with saquan. Voss will be a good one
