Bucs Seize Two-Game Lead In NFC South

September 21st, 2025

The sad Falcons got blown out by the sad Panthers today. What a beautiful thing.

Both teams fell to 1-2. Carolina coasted to a 30-0 victory at home. Falcons QB Michael Penix threw two interceptions and the Atlanta defense looked like, well, the Atlanta defense. The winless Saints play later this afternoon at Seattle.

That all means the Buccaneers have a fat two-game lead in the NFC South after only three games.

Joe is praying to the football gods for the Bucs to run away with the division. Being able to give guys like Lavonte David, Mike Evans, Vita Vea and any banged up offensive linemen a December or January day off should be extremely valuable in the postseason.

Now we need an update on Evans. Not having him is a huge hole out there.

  7. SlyPirate Says:

Tampa’s DBs are elite pass rushers.

Sit the OLB and bring in our safeties to rush the passer.

  8. Cleanhouse Says:

Soft zone crap- fire Bowles today

  9. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    This team stunk today

  10. Pewter Power Says:

yea Todd defensive scheme is trash. That’s on him he calls plays. He allowed the damn jets to go right down the field twice late in the game when we need them to hold it down for the offense

  11. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

On a totally unrelated subject, I just turned it to NFL network for a second. When did Steve Smith Jr. turn into the dad from Family Matters?

  12. Permanently Moderated Says:

It was just a matter of time on Mike’s hamstring issue. Hopefully, it’s minor.

  13. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    They’re fat….including 50 cents

  14. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

That was ugly but will take the win all day. O line is a mess yet we are 3-0 with a 2 game lead. Awesome!

  15. Oneilbuc Says:

A man this is the Baker I need for the playoffs he’s not panicking in these moments. Baker was the reason why we won good job Baker.

Aints down 14 1st Qtr already

  17. Colonel Angus Says:

Gotta tip the hat to Coach Bowles.

  18. Robert Ritter Says:

Atrocious absolutely atrocious. Better straighten this garage play out! The next three teams aren’t going to be scrubs.

  19. Chef Baker Says:

Good job Jamel! Nice one handed catch emeka! Kudos to baker! Bucs win!! Bucs win!!!

  20. ModHairKen Says:

As many times as things have gone against them, good for them. Everything levels out.

  21. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Exactly……Baker cannot perform magic every week

This offense needs to step up

  22. dbbuc711 Says:

    Definitely a catch by EE.
    Hell of a game.

  23. NaplesBucsFan Says:

We survived no Evans and no Godwin last year veamcayse our Oline was so damn good…
If we beat or even compete well against Philly that will be a great sign

  24. Redzone Says:

    How was it this close??

  25. Stan says Says:

Not have M.E. is definitely a big hole said miller5252. If Mike caught those 2 balls he seems to drop in every game this game would not have come down to this. Over the last 3 years he dropped at least 15 balls in big time situations. I love M.E. please get him some stickum fir his hands. ( Bar none the best receiver in the game) but man he drops to many balls. Yes we need him back.

The one in zebra stripes or the actual Buc team?

    Tampa Bay MASH unit

I don’t want to blame the ref’s but good grief they suck. Kicker is the most vulnerable on the field and they call a running into because it wasn’t his “plant leg” WTF. Yet the QB gets sneezed on for being 6’3″ and it’s insta flag. Yeah Taylor made some plays as did the Jets at the end but I am really thinking the NFL has some prescribed directive from the owners about this cause, after all, they’re sharing the revenue. Can U say ” known as The Pentavrate”? LOL. Dean holding on the int is just horsesheet, yet the guy clearly pushes off Dennis inside the 10 and no call? That was embarrassing to let them back in the game, regardless of the calls. Foot on the gas, you could see Bowles getting pissed on the sideline….I hope he rips them a new one for relaxing, staff as well.

  29. NaplesBucsFan Says:

    21-0 Seattle over Aints

  30. geno711 Says:

Great Culture from this team — it shines down from Licht to Bowles to Baker.

We are very lucky to have this leadership group.

  31. Aqualung Says:

Give zero, no, nada credit to the fraudulent imposter holding two jobs at the same time that he has demonstrated he is incapable of anything other than ineptitude. No, Jason isn’t firing the Toddster but he needs to tell him his Special Bus Teams whatever he is needs to be working at TPA international. Anywhere but One Buc.

Fire Todd Bowles and Mr Magoo right now.

  32. DBS Says:

Anybody seen Jeff? We were going to lose our QB and the game. Wrong again!

  33. BakerTillIDie Says:

Honestly, Bowles went prevent in the second half, why, anyones guess. Baker, should be front runner mvp. Sterling, alot better than most think. Ebeka, outstanding. Hopefully evans is minor, but, wirfs/godwin back, so, have at least 4 great recievers. and evans DROPPED 2 today. maybe something else going on.

  34. Kevin Dodel Says:

Play all the second team and bench baker for the eagles game. Tanking the game is better than losing a bunch of players to injury for the rest of the season.

    ————

Humm, that’s not how I remember it. When they had both Godwin and Evans out, they went 0-3. That’s part of the reason they drafted Double-E.

Hopefully Godwin is back next week, but not sure even if he did play that he’ll be close to 100%, but we can hope he is.

With Wirfs, if he’s back, I assume he’ll be at full speed, hopefully – which should cause a domino effect of moving Barton back to center, and Bredeson back to LG, and that should at least mean the left side of the line is solid, so you know where they’ll be running and which way Baker will be sliding towards.

  36. 813bucboi Says:

Defense playing soft almost lost the game

But good teams find a way to win

    GO BUCS

  37. buc4evr Says:

Defense always falls apart in prevent. Offensive play calling was horrible in the second half because Grizz and Bowles shut it down. They almost lost.

  38. Richie Rich Says:

I think Wirfs will be back next week. That will help. I dont know about Godwin.. I think we have to ease him in.

    NEVER WEAR CREAMSICLE AGAIN lol
    __________

I don’t think these uniforms are technically “Creamsicles”
Those would be the orange jerseys.

  40. stpetebucsfan Says:

I can’t some believe people are criticizing this win! Or finding fault with Griz’s calls.

Now the Zebra calls are an entirely different story. I wish they had stuck their whistles where the sun don’t shine. Two close important calls went to the New York team but I hate to use officials as an excuse.

REALITY CHECK…If the Bucs have to start that same right side it’s going to be a very long season. Heck is always good for some matador blocks but poor Haggard shouldn’t even be in the NFL.

I always want to give the other side their due and the Jets do have a terrific DL and one great DB in Sauce Gardner. But I saw one play where the Jet simply pushed Haggard right on his keyster and to add insult to injury Haggard grabs him while he’s on his back for yet another holding call. I guess he wanted to save Baker’s life.

There were time where I feel it’s not hyperbole to say that a couple of our OL looked like D2 College players against the men of the NFL. They were totally overwhelmed physically! It was embarrassing.

IF the Bucs had their true OL this game would have been a joke. But IFs don’t count. What does count however is the WIN!!! 3-0

If we head into next week against Philly with this OL it’s time to simply rest some guys and try to get healthy for the more winnable games. I haven’t seen an OL suck this badly…since I can remember!!! In fact I’m holding my breath that the Bucs don’t lose their engine that drives it all…Baker. Let Teddy stand behind Klein, Haggard, and Heck. Can you imagine what Philly’s DL is going to do to our JV OL?

  41. Hammerhead Says:

One of the worst o-lines today on Sunday.

    Somehow and someway.

Add in Original Bucs Jerseys and a good day for this forever Buc fan.

Eagles next week. A little surprised TE’s weren’t used today.

    Look for it next week.

  42. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Yeah, not looking to beat the Eagles, unless Evans can play and we get Wirfs and Godwin back. If we have the same OL, let’s wave the white flag. We sure as hell don’t need Baker hurt. He’s won all 3 games in the last minute, which is incredible!

  43. bucsfaninva Says:

I didn’t realize I have PTSD from seeing those Uni’s again. O M G that was atrocious. Flashbacks from the 70’s alright… just waiting for Johnny Carson to put out some kind of sarcastic joke now…

But a win is a win, and at least Baker baked again!

    On to the next one.
